-Everyone, let’s calm down!- Rin said with conviction as she lowered her bow. She noticed that Z was looking at her from time to time, understanding that he seemingly had some kind of connection with Martha. -I don’t know what the fuckin’ hell is goin’ on right now, but we need to fuckin’ get together and started takin’ fucking action.- Gen walked in-between both groups. -Because really, I don’t fuckin’ get what’s happenin’, I just came here to spring my master out and a fuckin’ hydra wannabe appeared and then ya bunch of assholes are ‘round here like ya own the fuckin’ place.- The Hot-Blooded Brawler looked at Z, with the kind of bravery not giving a single fuck grant, facing off against the extremely powerful Alien. -Ya seem like ya know what the fuck is goin’ on.- He pointed at him. -So spill yer beans before we spill yer guts, who the fuck are ya workin’ for and what the fuck are ya people doin’ here.- Gen was getting quite tired of running around. -And if ya know where the fuck my master is, speak the fuck up, that goes to any of you.- He looked around at Z’s group. Rin who heard about Haruko’s plight, moved toward that side, running while saying. -I’ll check on Miyata-san Gen.- And with that, she left, following Arthur’s icy trail.
Callis kept pushing alongside Haruko, but showed a hint of confusion upon hearing Yuu’s advice. -What? Last time I faced Ikari he didn’t react to positive emotions.- The Beast Knight didn’t catch that Yuu thought the enemy was Masako. Still he pushed alongside Haruko, who increased the magical power behind her constructs. Together the added force between the mystical and holy projections were more than able to keep Masako pinned down. And even more than that, the pressure was rewarded with a loud CRACK. Several parts of his ever changing armor were cracking under pressure. Yuu’s flaming Kunai hit one of the cracks, oozing napalm into the armor through them. For a moment there was an hostile silence, only intercut by the shimmering sounds of the constructs and the effort noises of those involved in combat but soon that awkward peace was interrupted by a bloodcurdling scream and a explosion of purple flames spewing from the snake-like face of Masako’s armor bursting upwards in a pillar of fire as Callis’ realized that his constructs, that were just crushing the opponent were about to break. -Messa Arachne!- He shouted. -Move away, I can’t hold him any longer!- The Beast Knight struggled but it didn’t matter, as his shields cracked, as a powerful shockwave was released out of Masako’s armored body.
The Hateful Predator sunk into the shadows below, vanishing from sight, leaving Callis, Haruko and Yuu floating above him.

"This individual is brain dead, I have already addressed his question to the best of my knowledge."- Z uttered unimpressed by the threats of the hot-blooded boxer.
In the meantime, Akane looked at Martha, the eyes of Musashi were cold as Ice.
"A murderer like him doesn't deserve to live"
She then moved towards Dan, getting quite close, but still respecting his personal space.
"You don't know what this thing has done to me. Perhaps you would do nothing even if the killer of your loved ones was in front of you, but I am not that kind of person"
Akane then looked back at Z and Gen, she had enough of words and arguments.
"Just follow me, I'll take you to your master, see if you can do something about that seal"- Akane went back in the same direction as Arthur, Z walked right past her, but stopped for a brief moment.
"I have killed 3 living beings this year. what about you?"
"Perhaps if I do the same thing you did to me you would see the difference."-Musashi said as she walked away from him, a slight turn of her head pointing at Martha.

“It isn’t Ikari. I think Masako got his powers somehow.” Yuu explained, backing away as she threw more kunai. She hesitated out of range. Like this, it would be easier than ever to flee and find Marika. Callis was even telling her to stay back, although it was the why that made her hesitate. Could she abandon them when Masako was on the brink of escape? Then there was no more time to think about it. The barrier exploded in light and fire and a smoldering Masako fell down into darkness. Yuu was only there long enough to make sure he wasn’t coming back before she flew back. She cut across the abyss and emerged at its corner, right at the stairway to the research wing. She pretended that it was okay, that her last chain keeping her there was gone. They were safe, surely. They didn’t need her. And it was right to defend Marika over them. She was her child. Her number one priority. Every time, forever and ever. She would save her, whatever it took.
“Arthur just told you Gen! He’s back where we came from in the center of the prison! Get back there and use that medal of yours on it!” Dan waved Gen off. Not far away, Martha glared at Akane. “You’re threatening me to get at him? Sounds like you’re the bad guy here!” She approached the swordswoman, but Dan stepped in between them. “Martha… uh, Arthur wanted you.” He fumbled his words, but she seemed to believe him immediately, darting up to Arthur’s side. “What did you need?” She asked. “As for you… no, Akane. If that thing killed one of my friends, or god forbid my son, I would be thinking of ways to kill him right now.” Dan sighed. “And deep down, I would know whoever stopped me from trying was right. Z might be able to suck the energy out of those seals if Gen can’t. If you still want to kill him, do it when all this is done, and I’ll help you do it. But not now.”

Despite their best efforts, Masako’s explosion allowed the hateful beast to slink back down into the shadows, Haruko breathing hard and floating up higher to try and stay out of his attack range. “Callis, are you alright?!” Haruko called over to the Beast Knight. Out of the corner of her eyes, Haruko was able to see Yuu dashing away from the group.
“Hey! You aren’t going anyw-” A sharp pain in Haruko’s chest stopped her threat. She was running out of energy in this form. Looking back down, Yuu was already gone. Letting out a sigh, she looked back over at Callis. “Can you still smell him down there? I can’t see anything, so I’m counting on you here, Callis.” She said, giving a reassuring smile.
---
Explosions ripped through the room as Miles summoned a flurry of red petals at Cadence, each destroying several pieces of the wall and floor around them. “HOW’S THAT?! Are you going to think your way out of this?!” Miles taunted, glaring down at the dust cloud he now created from his vantage point in the air. The sensation in his arms was completely numb by this point, meaning he’d need to heal them with magical means. Marika sniffled. She had wanted her alive, but that wasn’t fair to Miles.
“...are you FUCKING kidding me?!” Miles spat, seeing the brass golem standing in front of Cadence once more. The explosions had destroyed much of her chair, the entire right armrest having been ripped apart and left in splinters. But Cadence still sat, staring up at him.
“...you missed…” She taunted. Miles swung his right hand upward and began to summon another storm of petals. “That’s it! I’m going to destroy half this room! Stand back, Marika!” Miles yelled at his girlfriend. With a whining cry, she scrambled for cover. Bloodlust was in his eyes, Miles putting more mana into this cloud. Cadence simply looked on with her usual expression.
“...did you not think...I planned for this…? I know your powers...your petals...your attachment to Marika...your wings…” Cadence motioned toward Miles. “...so I made a plan...you like to attack quickly with that knife...so step 1...disable the arms…” Cadence motioned toward the limp arms at his sides.
Marika peeked out from behind her beast, realizing what they faced. She had planned for Miles. She had to help! With quiet steps, she began to creep around the side, flanking Cadence.
Cadence didn’t seem to notice Marika’s approach. “...the same goes for the other dolls...Ash has no endurance...so keep away and tire her out…Martha is brash...ensnare her legs with plants on the ground and snap them...Haven is kind...try to negotiate and use the golem to hit his head when close…” Cadence recounted her plans casually.
“Why are you telling us? They could be here at any moment!” Miles asked in frustration. Cadence looked up once more. “...I am telling you...because I’ve already won. Remember those spores…?”
Miles' eyes widened at the realization. “Marika, run!” He yelled, but it was too late. The spores that had collected on top of Miles’s wings when he blew away the storm had now grown into a network of tightly woven white fibers that were now twisting his wings like a poster tube. He screamed in pain, crashing back into the ground as the vines snaked their way along the length of his body like a parasite.
“Miles, no!” Marika completely gave up on her sneak attack, running straight up her creation’s arm to jump down on the other side, slashing at the vines around Miles’ wings with her scissors.
“...and right on time…” Cadence muttered to herself, the network of vines burrowing deeper into Miles’s wings and twisting them from within. He could barely register Marika’s existence because of the sheer pain of it all. “Marika...NO!” He yelled out, but it was too late. The network of vines Cadence had set up near Miles had now grown long enough and lunged to wrap around Marika’s legs, lifting her upside down and whipping the seamstress toward Cadence’s chair. Marika screamed as she was drug away, grasping uselessly at the air like it would stop her travel.
“No! No no no! I own you! You can’t do this to me!” She wailed, thrashing like a worm on a hook. Cadence’s expression appeared to change once more, a frown descending down her face. “...oh…? And why can’t I…? You did what you wanted with us...I am simply mimicking you…” Suddenly, Miles screamed when the network of vines tore off his left wing, leaving a bleeding stump in his back where it once was. He couldn’t even focus long enough to summon a single petal.
“MILES!” Marika’s scream found a pitch where she could barely hear herself. “Don’t touch him you bitch! You… please! Please stop!” She began to beg, tears bubbling up. Her glasses had fallen off and now she was even closer to blind. She could barely see Cadence, just a green blob in front of her. Being blind made the terror even more real. She couldn’t even see what was coming to her.
The frown descended further. “...so now you want my mercy...where was that when Jane was getting abused by Patches…? Where was that when you skewered Martha’s feet to the floor for 48 hours because she ran in the hallway when you were sleeping in? Where was that when you stole...our...freedom?” Cadence spat, whipping the vines downward to slam Marika’s face into the dirt below, then the wall.
Marika’s scream was choked into a strangled gasp when her face was mashed into the dirt, the air driven out before she could react to being thrown like a ragdoll into the wall. The only noise that came from her was a crack, and blood fell from her mouth, dripping with the tears onto the ground.
Cadence then lifted her body up once more, facing the seamstress eye to eye. Miles only saw a blurry picture in front of him through the pain of the vines going through his body. “MARIKA!” He screamed in agony. Ignoring the demon, Cadence looked at her creator with pure hatred in her eyes.
“How does it feel to lose control of your life? Am I just a doll NOW?!” Cadence snapped, bringing back her hand and slapping Marika across the face. It wasn’t a particularly strong slap due to Cadence’s frame, but it was filled with raw emotion the doll rarely displayed. It hurt more than being slammed into the wall, to Marika. There was a humiliation in being slapped by her creation that there was not in being overpowered by the might of her powers. At least she granted her those powers. She couldn’t look her in the eye and defy her. She couldn’t see at all. She could only sob, breaking down completely as Cadence glared at her. “I’m sorrrrryyyy! Please let me go! Please! I don’t want to die and I don’t want Miles to die and I don’t wanna dieeeee!” She wailed.
Cadence watched as Marika wailed. A smile began to creep across her face. She was enjoying every second of seeing Marika suffer. Her rational side was saying to end this now, but this was the one time she could enjoy this revenge! To hell with Marika, there wasn’t enough time left in the universe to pay her back for everything she had done!
“If only you had this attitude when you were the one with a knife to our throats. I reject your pleas for mercy, Marika Arachne!” With a wave of her hand, Marika shot a wooden spike directly toward Marika’s right leg, piercing her thigh. Marika screamed and blood gushed. Soon the screams fell back to whimpers again as Marika hanged nearly still.
The frown returned to Cadence’s face. No reaction. “...I guess this is the end, M-”
A roar rang out through the room, Miles staggering to his feet and staring at Cadence with a look of pure bloodlust. “Get...away...from...HER!” Miles shouted. His vision was only a patchwork of red and specks of visual detail, but Cadence’s chair was large enough to be visible. He slowly took steps toward the doll.
“...how noble…” Cadence remarked, raising one finger and causing a nearby vine to wrap itself around Miles’s left leg and send him crashing to the ground. Several explosions rocked the nearby air as he desperately tried to summon anything that could hurt Cadence. Turning back to Marika, Cadence cocked her head.
“...any last things you want to tell me…?” She asked. And there was no answer but weeping.

Well, the fight in the abyss seemed to have ended. Arthur wasn't really needed. And Gen and the rest were presumably making their way here, so their main objective might finally be done. Really, the only worrying part was Yuu leaving the abyss and running away. Of course, at the same time, Martha showed up. Impressively, she seemed to have realized he wanted to chat with her. Less impressively, her timing completely blew.
"I've just been meaning to catch up, really. Been a while since we saw each other, and we really didn't have a time to do so considering the whole situation. And now I think we should chase after Yuu before she does something stupid. Let's do that and we can meet up later to chat, right? Now, you have any idea where Yuu might be heading off to?"

-Pieces in a board, moving forward, backward and sideways.- Kuro-san whispered as he looked at the screens lighting up the room he was sitting in. He looked particularly pale under the light of the magical monitors linked to hidden charms sticked around the prison, working as a mystical surveillance system. His coat was neatly folded over his knee and he was only wearing his black shirt and red vest. his black tie was undone. -The resurfacing of Masako Hihashi was to be expected, but the fusion of his power with the Fukushi Identity was unexpected, still I can work with it. I’ll need to move my schedule ahead.- The Forgotten Emperor stood up as the door of the room was opened by Haigo Yasumori. -Yasumori-dono, please do not antagonize Arachne-kun, I need her expertise for my design.- Kuro-san chastised the Renegade Mystic without changing the tone of his voice at all, using the monotone one as always. -That hatchling is unbearable, who do she think she is?- Haigo replied with barely veiled anger. -I’m the great Haigo Yasumori, I don’t need to take the petulant threats of a fangless insect like her or the other child you’ve hanging around and her asenine “characters”.- He added emphasis to his words by slamming his fan shut against his hand.
There was an awkward moment of silence while Kuro-san turned off the monitors, with only the pale light of blue fire torches in the walls lighting the room. The shadows seem to surround the Forgotten Emperor and soon it was obvious that he manifested his Gainen, Melancholy Memory, behind him, shrouded in darkness. -You might complain about Arachne-kun or Jaakuma-kun, but without them you wouldn’t be standing here, right now.- Haigo recoiled to the answer. -I bet you could’ve done everything on your own without them.- He replied to Kuro-san, who swiftly dissented with Haigo. -You don’t understand… But how could you, the reason they’re useful to me is partially the reason why you lost so many years ago against your brother.- The Renegade Mystic old bones popped as he tensed up his body. -He didn’t defeat me, not cleanly! He got help from that stupid Dragon and Hibiki Nensho.- Once again Kuro-san shook his head, gesturing his negative opinion. -You would’ve lost because you don’t attempt to see the future… and I don’t blame you, I can’t see the future either, I’m chained to a past I cannot forget, not even with a Gainen under my service.- There was a flicked of sadness in his eyes. -Trust me, I tried…-
-What are you going on about?- Haigo asked, losing his patience towards the cryptic words of Kuro-san. Usually he was the cryptic one so he didn’t know how to respond. -I’m trapped inside a cell of my own making and I cannot see the sun beyond my self imposed bars, thus to actually advance and have a connection to what’s next I hired people who were always thinking about the next thing.- Kuro-san explained, turning on two screen, one showing Sakka’s quarters and the other focused on Marika, facing Cadence. -They’re an excellent source of inspiration, as I wasn’t part of the Hidden World for a very long time.- Haigo was losing his cool. -Stop talking and explain yourself… and apologize for even mentioning my brother.- Kuro-san, for the third time, shook his head. -No, because there isn’t anything you can do, I just needed your knowledge, not your power so that’s what I brought back.- Haigo looked confused and felt even more confused. -I need to thank Arachne-kun and Jaakuma-kun for inspiring me in how to use my Gainen in a more effective manner.- Kuro-san snapped his fingers and Haigo, who attempted to charge, started to unravel into strings, the same kind Melancholy Memory plays. Kuro-san learned something else, something inspired by Sakka and Marika’s creations. Kuro-san could manifest constructs carrying the memories of the deceased. The same thing happened with Eiyu Shomei when Masako fused with Ikari, destroyed by the threads. Neither of them should be alive at this point, as both died decades ago.
This was quite the ability, one that helped Kuro-san in many ways, like corrupting nexus stones, infiltrating the JHWAB and Shirokumo. But the only thing he really wanted to use it for was beyond his means, no matter how much he tried, he never managed to bring back his wife, thus his plan continued as intended, prepared for the Endgame. With that in mind he turned around and checked the status of the Asura King. It was mostly done, just some small details missing. He looked at the screen and realized Marika could be in trouble, so he activated his assurance with a single switch giving it a single instruction. -Protect Marika Arachne, upon completing the order give her message B3.- And with that he left his room, walking towards the main prison area, with the intent of gaining more time.

The robotic voice came out from Falken, who had been standing like a statue, ignoring Cadence and Marika’s encounter. Without losing time to quip or threaten like Falken would if he was operating on his own, the Dominated Cyborg summoned two pieces of equipment, the Tsukuba Flight Harness and the Hidaka Vibration Field Generators. Armed like this, he exploded into action, flying in between Marika and Cadence, launching a flurry of blows with the twin escrima sticks he was wielding. He aimed at the vines trapping Marika, and the points of impact would explode into spherical rumble fields, strong enough to turn brick into dust. Falken landed from his burst of flight, leaving trails behind his feet and sparks upon contact. He turned around, locking on Cadence with two crimson eyes and without opening his mouth the electronic voice stated its purpose.

With that information processed the Psycho Cyborg blasted off again, changing his Vibrational Field Generators for the Kenzaki King Blade, set to Chalice mode. -I don’t think I need to smell him.- Callis pointed out as several dozens heads burst off the darkness beneath them towards their direction. The Beast Knight didn’t hesitate and gathered his strength as he summoned another shield, grabbing Haruko under his arm and jumped upwards, making the shield give him a boost. Callis appeared out of the center hole of prison, landing right besides Stephan Walters. -MES WALTERS MOVE AWAY!- The warning would come right in time if the HWIC Agent react alongside it. As dozens of Hydra heads attempted to enter through the hole at the same time, breaking the wooden walkway surrounding the abyss, crashing against Reiji’s cell right above it. The Beast Knight placed two more shields, but they weren’t as shiny or strong as the ones he summoned before, he had pulled too much power to fast and even with his modified body he couldn’t cope, as a massive shockwave shook the whole Main Prison Block, when Masako’s flames interacted with the hundreds of protective spells around Reiji’s cage.
Akane and her group should be in the right spot to just see it happening as they approached, the only two close enough to be in danger would be Arthur and Rin. She jumped backwards, avoiding large wooden splinters by spinning her naginata and deflecting the pieces. Masako’s heads flowed almost like liquid surrounding Reiji’s cage and blooming from the hole beneath like flaming purple grass. As the dust from the initial explosion of wood and purple flames subsided, Callis, who had used his shields to protect Stephan and Haruko, received a large piece of wood that lodged itself inside his left shoulder, so now, his whole arm hung limply besides his body, his white coat stained with blood. -We need to regroup!- He said, while avoiding one of the heads whipping towards him, cracking the floor beneath him as he backflipped out of the way. Upon landing he looked around, trying to make heads or tail of the situation. There were at the very least 2 dozen heads, smaller than the ones before, but clearly still plenty dangerous. All mouths of the Hydra opened as one and with a single powerful joint voice they proclaimed.

"Callis! are you alright?!"- Akane said as she rushed towards him, not caring about the danger right in front of her, she looked at his arm bleeding and unsheathed Kaneshige, Musashi stepping right in front to cover her lover.
"Vlad! please try to get Callis and Haruko back to fighting condition, the rest with me, If we don't fight back now, when are we ever going to?!"
Akane took a Tera Ugasumi stance and released her virtual machine, her armor vanished as her blade roared in a white light, indicating her virtual machine had now fused with Kaneshige. At the same time, her body muscled up as the perfect warrior ability strenghtened her body.
Z looked back at the dolls before stepping in
"Stay behind me, I'll protect you to best of my ability"
Akane glared at Z for a brief moment as she stood next to her, it was a repulsive feeling, having to fight alongside a monster like him, but there was no other way around.
"Don't think this helps your case, after we are done with that creature , you are next"-Musashi said firmly, not a shred of compassion registered in her tone.
"Save your empty threats for later, it's time to hunt"

Stephan was still leaning on the railing when Callis came flying past with his warning. He didn’t stop to ask why before backflipping away from the abyss, wrist blades digging into the wall just as the roaring heads of the apex predator of the prison came rushing up. The shockwave flattened him against the wall, but he clung tight anyway. “Mr. Nomene!” He yelled when he saw him take the hit. That wasn’t good. What was good was the group entering. Stephan didn’t have the large-scale strategic know-how of his superiors, but more bodies helping Callis freed him up to attack.
An enemy like this perfectly suited his skillset. He kicked off the wall, flying directly into the midst of the heads. He turned, catlike, to strike first with his feet. The plan was to bounce rapidly between the heads, kicking off of them so as to never stay still, always unpredictable. His rate increased with each kick, legs becoming springier. At the same time, his arms flashed out, swiping his blades at the beast’s eyes and jaws as he passed. It was risky. His heart raced. But every head he blinded may be one that couldn’t target a teammate or himself, and in the midst of danger, he excelled.
“Oh, okay.” Dan was smiling the instant he entered the room. That smile flicked after a moment. Callis was already injured, and he didn’t see Haruko. She might have been trapped behind the hydra, or worse, below. He kept his mind on the team with him. Z would probably operate independently. The dolls he wasn’t sure about. His suspicions were confirmed when Martha tried to bolt past him. “And what are you doing?” He grabbed the back of her guard uniform and pulled her back. “What that guy’s doing!” She pointed at the green blur that was Stephan. “No you’re not. We’ve fought, you don’t have the coordination for it. You’re in charge of extraction. Callis first. Anybody else who gets injured. You can move people around quicker than anybody else.” He pushed her in the direction of the fallen leader and she turned to stick her tongue out at him before bursting out in a white blur, scooping up Callis.
“I’ve got you, guy!” She said before rushing back with him, taking him to the back lines of the group. “I know first aid. Keep that in until we can get Arthur healing you, okay guy?” She looked from the piece of wood to his face, and something changed in her expression. She looked a little too hard, then went red. “Uh yeah, just don’t move around too much and, uh, apply pressure.” She said, not willing to grab his arm herself. “Gen, we don’t have many places to retreat, so I’m asking you to try to get Reiji’s cell open. The charms absorb ki and magic, but whatever you use isn’t either, is it?” Dan asked Gen, taking up a position at Akane’s side.
“We’ll try to keep that off you. So uh, try to make it fast. No more japes about not knowing my damn name.” Dan kept a broad stance, not particularly defensive for himself, but it made it harder for anything behind him to be attacked. Robin was far in back, behind where Martha had Callis. She had no interest in entering the fray. Nothing to gain, so long as her sister wasn’t in direct danger. She kept an eye on Goemon, cautious of him. She still had his wallet and that weird disk. If he noticed now, she needed to be ready to split.

Not able to react before Callis leaped up top with her in tow, Haruko stumbled back onto the ground and leaned against the nearby post. Spending less energy on moving would help keep the transformation up longer. A small smile grew on her face when she saw Stephen's impressive display of speed, hitting the heads back and forth like a pinball.
Much to Haruko's surprise, it appeared that Akane and the alien from before were now working together to fight this monster. Seeing that her transformation was nearly over, Haruko stared at the hydra heads, ready to respond to whatever the beast tried to do.

There wasn't any time to think about what happened with Yuu. The fight against the hydra wasn't even close to being over apparently. Callis and Haruko escaped from the pit just as the monstrous heads rose up and started tearing up the place. A wall of ice rose up to shield Arthur and anyone behind him from the splinters and the flames. After those subsided, its remains separated into shards and hurled themselves into the hydra's eyes to help out Stephan. It was the most he felt comfortable doing right now. If only that stupid magical musket girl hadn't proven to be such a challenge...
"Alright, we need to distract that thing so Gen can try his medal on the cage. Though with those flames and my reduced agility, it's best if I just stick to supporting you guys for now. Callis, let me heal you. We need to give Akane peace of mind." arthur snapped his fingers and cast a healing spell to fix his shoulder. Then he created four floating walls he could use to shield people from the hydra's attacks.

Got it! - The ex-paladin responded as he impulsed himself with thunder to move foward, as he couldn't teleport this was the only way to get closer to them. But as Arthur was already taking care of them, he decided to move forward, the first line of defense were the Ice Mage's walls. Vladimir summoned another pentagrams to protect them in case that wasn't enough, and went immediatly to Akane and Z's side
Mr. Shishioh will try to open the cell and Mr. Cromwell is taking care of Callis, we need to distract the creature ... Any ideas? The Charms seems to be doing some kind of effect and Mr. Walters has blinded a few heads... - He asked, ready to follow new orders

The electronic voice coming out of Falken echoed in the silent room as every thruster of his recently summoned suit malfunctioned. The Psycho Cyborg flew off in swirling spirals, leaving a blue trail of plasma jets behind him until he crashed against a wall and collapsed into a heap. The impact was gruesome, colliding head first into a stone wall, letting out several loud cracking noises. Falken slid off the wall hitting the floor, his limbs twisted like a broken toy. Impossibly he managed to move, one of his arms forcibly returning to its proper position, accompanied by another set of cracks, in a very unnatural manner. He positioned his arm directly at one of the cameras and flipped the bird at it.
The situation was getting more and more chaotic by the second. Callis observed the battlefield as everything unfolded while getting healed by Arthur. Stephan was jumping around from metallic neck to metallic neck, slashing and cutting everywhere he could land a hit. Rin Shishioh was letting out a veritable barrage of arrows. Akane stood tall with her sword ready to fend off the Hydra attack, while Z, in the opposite side of the room prepared himself to do the same. As Arthur healed him, he listed to Dan’s instructions and to Vlad’s suggestions. He stood up and talked as loudly as he could, his voice partially amplified by the Grail’s magic.
-Mes Drake and Mes Kearney are right!- He pointed at the cell, surrounded by charms and by the Hateful Hydra Heads. -We need to open a path for Mes Shishioh to reach the cell!- The Beast Knight turned around towards Gen, who was flanked by Goemon and Ichigan. -Can you reach the cell? It seems that only Gainen energy might work against the charms.- Callis asked and explained. Gen nodded. -I just need a fuckin’ path and I’ll be there.- Ichigan hearing this turned to Goemon and whispered. -Remember Hokkaido?- Goemon looked at him for a second and then nodded, remembering what he was talking about.
-Kid, we can help ya out, but we need yer friend to keep this fuckin’ busy.- Ichigan talked to Gen, while the rest of the group was fighting. Several heads were charging towards Akane and Z, aiming to bite them in half. Others attempted to follow Stephan but he was moving too fast. A couple more started clashing against Arthur’s ice wall attempting to break it. -Whatever ya wanna fuckin’ do, better do it fast, what the fuck do ya need?- Asked Gen to his father. -I need 1 minute, Goemon and myself will shoot you directly to the cage and open a path, but is goin’ to be fuckin’ messy, ya up for it?- Gen nodded, turning to Callis. -I don’t see eye to eye with ya in many things Nomene-san… but if ya can help now it would be fuckin’ useful.-
-Consider it done.- Callis stood tall, healed enough move his arm, testing it with a couple of spins, hiding the twinge of pain he felt. -Make your preparations, we will handle the rest.- With that said Goemon and Ichigan took Gen further away, explaining their plan and covering Gen’s mouth when he replied. -ARE YA FUCK-. Callis turned around a took a deep breath, trying to see any kind of order in the chaos. -Akane! You and Mes Z attract the creature attention!- He then turned to Arthur and Haruko. -Arthur and Haruko attempt to restrict its movements!- The Beast Knight then looked at the Dolls. -I don’t know your specialties, but Mes Drake sure does, follow his orders!- And finally he turned towards Vladimir, ignoring Stephan and Rin, who clearly knew what they were doing.
-Mes Kearney according to your file your capable of lightning magic, is that right?- Callis placed his hand over Vladimir’s shoulder and poured whatever divine magic he could get out of the Grail, unlike Arthur or Haruko, Vladimir’s magic seem to have similarities to the Grail, Callis felt, by instinct that he would be able to charge up the White Paladin. -Blast him with everything you got.- Callis eyes turned white as he kept charging up Vladimir with as much magical energy he could. -We need to stop his movements as much as we can.- The surge of power was strong enough to make the Grail manifest on Callis’ hand.
In the hallway Akane’s group used to arrive Goemon and Ichigan stood behind Gen, both in mirrored Seiken stances, Goemon using his right hand and Ichigan using his left hand. The Hot-Blooded Brawler was standing in front of them, gathering as much Gainen energy he could from the fight around them and drawing it towards the Medal. -Ya two old fucker are insane.- Gen commented, knowing what was coming next, as Goemon and Ichigan were charging up their Ki, ready to unleash their signature move. The Mountain Slaying Fist.

"Got it!"- Akane quickly replied to Callis, slashing against the first head that came in contact with her using her nanite blade, she swiftly moved between the attacks as she slashed using the Mushin skill.
At the same time, Z decked the first head out of his way with sheer physical might. As the rest of the attacks came, the alien accelerated and dodged, kicking the heads as he jumped from one to the other, both the collector and Akane noticed the Ki charge and understood the idea behind it, clearing the way while keeping the creatures entertained.
For Z, who had absorbed the energy of multiple people and had an incredibly durable exoskeleton, this strategy was easy, he could keep it all day. Akane however, was having a much tougher time, her Mushin skill only lasted for a few seconds, and doing acrobatics without supersonic speed was reckless. She teleported back her armor as her white blade faded, then switched to her kusarigama.
*As long as we just have to gain time, the damage I make is inconsequential*- Akane thought to herself as she tied up the chain of her kusarigama around the creature's neck and swung to another head as soon as she was attacked, she would be able to keep this much more conservative strategy for longer.

Chaos had now exploded all around the room, with multiple hydra heads bearing down upon the group. Callis had told her and Arthur to restrict its movements. Haruko let out a small huff at annoyance. “Welp, guess time’s up.” She muttered, being engulfed in a flash of light and transforming back into her normal self.
Staring up at the massive beast before her, the seamstress smirked. “Things just keep getting worse, right Frosty?” She asked, poking his arm with her elbow. Reaching into her coat, Haruko pulled out 5 knives, all attached to tiny strings. “I’ll start on the right side, you get left. No slacking off now!” She joked. Tossing the knives as far as she could, Haruko yanked the strings to the left to make them bank to the left, hopefully exploding into the sides of some of the right side hydras. Haruko them loaded several explosive knives with little rockets attached and sent them sailing toward more heads. “Hopefully this works!” Haruko muttered to herself. This wasn’t the time to have run out of Gem Girl energy!
---
Every step felt like it took an hour. Even as she brushed the sound barrier, Yuu knew for a fact she was moving too slowly. She couldn’t move any faster, no matter how much she pushed. There wasn’t enough fire to fuel such a boost, and she had no time to build a greater one. Her worst fears were confirmed when she entered the room. Marika hung from Cadence’s hand. Battered. Bloody. Maybe already dead. She couldn’t see Miles, but he was likely in no better shape. She hated him, but he would die protecting Marika. Yuu grabbed a handful of kunai without pausing her stride. She would die like him, if it came to that. But she had found it easier to kill, every time. Half a dozen flaming kunai went flying out at Cadence. One went above.
The world faded as Cadence stared at the defeated Marika before her. Miles was writhing uselessly on the floor, and despite a strange interruption by the robot, it appeared even he had taken care of himself. Contrary to Cadence’s normal stoic face, she wore a wide smile of delight at Marika’s broken form.
“Is that it? Is that all you have to give me after all these years?!” Cadence screamed at the doll master. She felt a sense of disappointment that Marika had stopped responding so quickly. Cadence moved to make the vine snap Marika’s neck…
...when a flaming kunai severed the vine Marika was hanging off of. Cadence couldn’t even turn her head fast enough to see the kunai rip through her chair and body, making several deep gashes. A look of pure hatred filled Cadence’s face the instant she saw the familiar-looking flames.
“YUU!” She roared, summoning her gainen to punch away the plants that were on fire. They scattered, leaving small fires all around Cadence.
“I’m sorry.” Was all Yuu said. The kunai she threw high struck its target. A sprinkler head burst, and water poured down right onto Cadence and her surroundings. Cadence had stopped herself from immediately burning when her gainen scattered the flames, but in the end, Yuu had anticipated it. Cadence was a plotter, but Yuu beat her in a mental quickdraw. Where the water touched it, her flames exploded, expanding eightfold in height and diameter, engulfing Cadence and her chair in an instant.
The world became an inferno. A million plans raced through Cadence’s mind, but the lack of smoke in her system made it difficult to focus on any of them. A scream reverberated throughout the room as Cadence attempted to disengage her body from any part that was on fire. A burning hand caught her before she could escape. Like she had teleported, Yuu was within the flames, feeding on them. She looked Cadence in the eyes, expression unfathomable. There was a hesitation. A single instant, where Yuu just held her lost child.
Cadence didn’t even see her draw her sword. There was just a sudden loss of sensation as her lower body dropped away. Her arms were gone too in a second, and Yuu knelt. Cadence was expecting to be dropped, but instead she was laid down gently in the embers. Wreathed in flame, Yuu looked down at her, tears that dripped making Cadence burn faster.
The plant doll stared up with burning hatred in her eyes. She was reduced to just her upper body, her extremities slowly burning toward her center. The numbing smoke unfortunately couldn’t dull the pain from her string being slowly burned away. Eyes rolling over, she witnessed the inferno that was her chair burning like a bonfire. Her first instinct was to summer her gainen to attack Yuu, but that medal unfortunately was located in her dress pocket somewhere in the nearby blaze. She tried regrowing parts of her body, but the sticky flames prevented any growth. The fury in Cadence’s eyes slowly shifted back to her normal stoic expression.
...and here I lay...a fool. I had this day planned out for years...only to stumble at the last step… She reflected upon her life. Visions of herself reading about the Napoleonic wars at her forest clearing, the birds happily chirping at the abundance of food she left out for them. Visions of Patches terrorizing the other dolls, and herself bending the rules to leave her helplessly tied up on the ceiling. A frown descended across her face as she remembered the man who had given her that wretched Gainen medal. ...and I somehow listened to him...what a fool I’ve become…
Turning her attention up to Yuu, Cadence’s tone became her normal monotone once more. “...At least I let hate kill me..you were turned into a monster by love...who knew..." Cadence said to Yuu, her body continuing to burn. Yuu looked away, squeezing her eyes shut, pretending she didn’t hear, pretending it wasn’t true. “It didn’t have to kill you, Cadence. I was happy when I learned you escaped. Why didn’t you stay away, forget Marika?”
Glancing at her right arm, Cadence could see that the flames were now consuming her wooden pipe. A small pang of regret filled her body, as she loved that pipe. It was the object that helped her temporarily leave this painful existence and enter the realm of peace, of rational thought. Looking back up at Yuu, Cadence began.
“...Perhaps I am not content with saving myself...while others suffer...for when I am given power…” Cadence glared daggers into Yuu. “...I don’t let the monster keep hurting people…” With a glance toward Marika, Cadence gave one final command. Marika’s stillness turned into frenzied movement, thrashing and choking. Yuu left Cadence, diving to help her, but there was nothing she could see wrong with her.
“Cadence, please! I can snuff the flames! Stop whatever you’re doing!” Yuu yelled. Cadence was barely more than a head now. “...so that spore didn’t go down her lungs...guess you protected her yet again...Yuu Arachne…congratulations...” Staring up at the ceiling one last time, the rest of Cadence’s head burned into nothingness. The charred remains of her chair were nothing more than ash by this point. Cadence was gone, but her last gift remained. Marika’s throat bulged before a plant’s shoot pierced the skin. Before her eyes, it grew and unfolded, leaving a flower. An iris, purple. Yuu had seen them in Cadence’s garden. It was Cadence’s last message.
A few minutes later, the flower lay beside Marika, breathing now through a tube in her throat. She was alive, but Yuu wasn’t sure of the damage. The bleeding was stopped, but Yuu’s flames likely only aggravated the damage done to Marika’s throat. Her larynx may very well be damaged beyond repair. But she was alive. Yuu looked at her other daughter. There was nothing to be recovered. A few charred bones, unrecognizable as Cadence Arachne. Yuu set the flower down in her ashes. At least she would remember her by that.
“I’m sorry, Cadence. I’m sorry for being weak.” Yuu said, and she looked at Marika, peacefully unconscious, so close to death. She couldn’t help but feel relief. She couldn’t help but feel love. But above it all, overwhelming all other emotions, she couldn’t feel anything but loss.

Yes! - The palading immediatly responded to the leader of the group. As Callis placed his hand, white tribal patterns appeared on Vladimir's body, mostly his face and arms. He could feel the strange magic rgowing inside him but he felt a bit suspicious... it wasn't entirely angelical or... Holy, it was like a strange distant relative... Facing the Hydra, the ex-paladin tried to analize the best points of attack, eyes scanning everything. Electricity could work to disorient the heads, then he needed to attach their necks to prevent it from biting his allies, exclusively Gen who was going to attempt to open the cage.
He glanced one last time towards Callis, eyes fixating on the Holy Grial - We... we need to talk later - He said before leaving in a rush, his feet leaving a trail of visible white electricity behind him.
The first thing he did was to summon new spears as he ran, surrounding the Hydra. With another spell he elevated the spears, aiming at the heads. Stomping his palms on the floor he summoned new pentagrams at the edge of the pit, celtic symbols starting to spin, increasing their velocity gradually. Summoning the Book of Driaochtas, he read a few lines from the section he could understand. White magic surrounded him, armor appearing.
Ehhh?!? What it's this!? This is not my usual armor - He complained extremely confused by this... yellow, black and white combination.. It looked modern, compared to his classic armor from the outdated Kingdom - Anyway!
He charged his feet with electricity, jumping high in the air. He first kicked one of the heads to be sent back in the air like a trampoline. With a hand movement he commanded the spears to attack directly at the heads and necks, it didn't matter if they caused a lot of damage. Summoning another pentagram he pushed himself back at the Hydra's body. His hands creating a lasso made of fire and thunder magic.
As he continued to bounce he used the end of the spears to jump and locate himself, trying to trap the Hydra with the lasso to immobilize it. The speed of the pentagrams that were under the hydra were spinning at great speed, forming torrents of air stronger than the ones, as Arthur was the only one that previously saw Vladimir in action could tell, the paladin could create under normal circumstances, without anyone giving him such a powerful boost of energy.

“Thanks Arthur!” Martha hugged her friend when he healed Callis. First aid just wasn’t enough sometimes! “I’m gonna help now!” She said, darting into the front lines. It was crowded here. She didn’t have much space to run, and she didn’t have any way to attack the distant heads. Dan was similarly at odds with the setting. “Can’t reach them until they break down that ice, and then…” He looked up at the mighty heads pummeling the wall. Could he even stop that? Trying and failing could be fatal. But failing could be fatal for somebody behind him, somebody who couldn’t take a hit like he could. He looked at Arthur, injured, and Haruko, drained of mana. “Alright then. Let’s see what I can do.” As part of the wall collapsed, a hydra jaw came into range.
It was tough and armored, but not every section could be equally covered in plates. Dan stepped in, flanking the hydra’s head. His fist clenched and his left arm pulled back. With another step, he threw a punch right at the spot where its mandible met its cranium. It would be a place with a gap in the armor, to allow movement, as well as being one of the body’s thinnest bones. “You don’t get all the fun!” A yell came from the front of the head and Dan looked just in time to see Martha coming in, a total blur. She launched off the ground to drop kick the hydra right in the nose. “You know what, if you can pull it off, do it!” Dan yelled, and hoped for the best. In the midst of the heads, Stephan stopped his own assault, springing away to cling again to the wall. Too many attacks were coming in for him to safely be on the hydra. Arrows and now whatever Vlad was doing.

"We're worse off than we were a few minutes ago, but that thing is about have an even worse time, Ruko. We're about to kick its ass." While Haruko launched rocket-knives at several heads and Vlad rushed the hydra in impressive new armor, Arthur made giant forks and launched them at the necks of the other heads, right below the jawline. If he could pin them to a wall, perfect. If not, smashing them together and binding them also worked for Arthur. Callis wanted them restricted and he'd get that. Of course, keeping the heads away from the walkway would make Dan and Martha's punching strategy less effective. Even Akane and Z might appreciate a different foothold.
"Heads up, if you can't reach them, I'll give you a path." Icy staircases rose up, soft and pliable so one could run without slipping and wide enough not to worry about falling off, leading toward the heads for anyone who wanted to take it.

A cacophony of sound and light exploded in the main chamber of the Maximum Security Wing of Shirokumo. Akane and Z worked in a curious tandem, opposite to each other, attracting the most of the Hydra heads, partly because of Akane’s volatile emotions and Z’s being considered, by instinct one of the most dangerous individuals in the group. The tempest of bites was weathered by them, thanks to their superior skill.
-Are ya two assholes sure this will fuckin’ work?- Gen asked nervously, as both Mountain Slayer Fist Masters gathered their energy behind him. Goemon was focusing his golden Ki, that gently flowed over his skin in strands of solidified power, while Ichigan’s flame-like Fighting Spirit jolted over his body, as if the fire behaved like lightning arcing in and out of his skin towards his fist. -We only did this once and well, it wasn’t pretty, but I think you can handle it.- Goemon commented, without moving his body. -So stay fuckin’ still kiddo, ya don’t want to take this the wrong way, just move when we give you the sign.- Ichigan added, finishing his comment with a growl as he gathered his Fighting Spirit around his knuckles, crackling like lightning.
Haruko and Arthur’s tag team was less accidental than Akane’s and Z’s, as they had worked together before and they didn’t hate each other, so their moves complimented each other instead of just accidentally coinciding in a one-upmanship contest. With their combined offensive maneuvers they managed to stop the movement of several heads, giving Vladimir Kearny a clearer shot.
Energy swirled around Goemon and Ichigan, wind spinning with them as the epicenter, while the golden ki and the crimson fighting spirit started touching in-between them, letting out bright white sparks. Gen was adding to this light show by focusing his willpower into the Gainen Medal, that pulsated with power as orange energy blasted out in small shockwaves, with the cadence of a heartbeat.
Vladimir initial salvo of lightning spears joined up with Rin’s arrows, hitting heads being distracted by Stephan. Callis could barely move after pouring all of his magical energy into the Draiochta Paladin, but even lowered to his knees, the Beast Knight kept using whatever magical power he could summon to reduce the weight of the Hydra Heads whenever they were attempting to free themselves from any of the restraints created by the rest of the group, reducing their leverage.
-Ya ready kiddo?- Ichigan asked, his eyes flooded with red light. -We only have one chance Gen-kun, don’t waste it.- Goemon added, his own eyes bursting with golden light. -I fuckin’ know it, just don’t fuckin’ kill me will ya!- Gen replied and prepared himself, seeing the effort of everyone else and steeling himself for what he was about to attempt. -I’m fuckin’ ready! LET’S GO!- The Hot-Blooded Brawler took several step back, standing right behind Goemon and Ichigan, clutching their shoulders. -GO!- The two Mountain Slayer Fist Masters shouted in unison and Gen thrusted forward using their bodies as support. As he rushed forward both of them hit him at the same time with their Mountain Slaying Fists. A powerful detonation of Ki and Fighting Spirit exploded upon contact with Gen as both Martial Artist Proclaimed their techniques.
YAMAKOROSHI UZUCHI KEN (MOUNTAIN SLAYER FIST: BLOOD VORTEX)
GUTS PUNCH!
The energy of their attacks blasted inside Gen’s body, entangled with each other. Ichigan used his own variation, designed to travel through the nervous and circulatory systems. While Goemon used his own custom technique, which could heal injuries instead of causing them, the life-giving fist. Normally those who get hit by Ichigan’s attack would become a bloody mess, as their veins and arteries explode from the inside out releasing jets of blood while causing untold amounts of pain. A side effect of this technique would be accelerated nervous response, but the target would be in such much pain that it would be pointless to call it a buff. That’s where Goemon’s hyper concentrated healing fist comes into play, healing the damage dealt to Gen’s body at the same time as it’s being done. But that’s not all. Upon contact, the positive and negative natures of the attacks would usually negate themselves, but in a tandem of factors, they would reject each other, looking to exit from the path of least resistance, meaning, the point of impact.
Right as this happened the second part of Vladimir’s attack landed, leaving only a single head in Gen’s way, but at the last possible moment Dan smacked it right in the jaw, making it writhe in pain, moving away from the Hot-Blooded Brawler’s path.
Gen became a bullet of anger, shot by Goemon and Ichigan, his teeth gritted, his fist clenched and only partial Gainen Armor covering his arm. -BURN YA MOTHERFUCKING CELL!!!- Gen roared as his fist, clocking several times over the speed of sound clashed against the mystically reinforced cell. Two “wings” had sprouted from his back, merely the after effects of his body expelling the Ki and Fighting Spirit, blasted like orange flames behind him, combined with his own, bursting from his fist, channeling every ounce of Gainen Energy he could draw from the medal and from the surrounding battle. -C’mon! YA FUCKIN’ THIN’! BUCKLE DOWN!!!- Still mid air, with his fist vibrating against layers upon layers of protective spells.
A crystalling sound, like the echo of glass shattering began to ring as Gen’s fist got closer and closer to the cell. Each millimeter he moved was a magical barrier being broken as the cell seem to be a box trapped inside a thousand boxes. The Gainen Armor in the Hot-Blooded Brawler’s arm started to shatter as well, revealing bruises and open wounds just from the continuous impacts. -Gen! You need to stop, you’re going to lose your arm!- Rin shouted, while shooting arrows at any heads attempting to get close to Gen. -I CAN FUCKIN’ DO THIS!- The Brawler replied, gritting his teeth and putting his weight into it. -HE SAVED ME, I GOTTA FUCKIN SAVE HIM!- And with that said, he pushed all his weight and might into his fist and a loud CRACK echoed all around them, as he pierced clean through the cell wall and came out from the other side, his arm shattered into mangled pieces barely connected by skin and sinew.
The explosion that followed the breach of the cell, caused by every barrier releasing their mystical charge, shook everything around it, making the whole Maximum Security Block vibrate like a bell. Thankfully the Hydra heads took the brunt of it, some even being blasted into dust by the explosion, the rest of them, wounded, retreat back into the abyss, widening the hole in the center of the room a couple of meters more. Gen landed hard in the wooden floor, sliding until stopping against a stone wall. The cell was silent and had a large Gen-sized hole on each side. The Hot-Blooded Brawler was out cold. Callis had been sent flying backwards by the shockwave and was barely standing up after hitting a wall. Rin managed to pierce the floor with her Naginata and managed to stay in her place, while Ichigan and Goemon had been blown back before the shockwave, by the recoil of their attacks and were almost outside the large stone cube that formed the outer wall of the Maximum Security Wing, meters away from the walkway that they used to return from the Research Wing Staircase.
-Thank you Arachne-kun, you saved one of my pawns from its death.- A figure in a black overcoat, red shirt and black tie stand in the doorway of Marika’s workshop. -I wasn’t expecting for Degiraz-san to fail like he did, but thankfully you came to the rescue.- The menacing aura of the Forgotten Emperor seemed to be like an oppressive miasma slowly flooding the room, as it was an actual liquid entering through the open door. Behind him there was a faint shadow, normally invisible, but after being in close proximity to Cadence’s Gainen Energy was allowing Yuu to perceive Melancholy Memory, advancing behind Kuro-san as he approached. -Please, allow me to treat Arachne-san’s wounds.- The Forgotten Emperor kept walking calmly towards Yuu and Marika, as the shadow behind him slowly unraveled into strings, one of them hitting the floor and taking shape into a meek looking man with curly black hair and round spectacles.
-Allow Dr. Lazarus to treat her.- He said as he approached to the entity Marika was building. -It seems this is almost done…- Kuro-san was ignoring Yuu as he inspected the entity created by the sum of so many elements he obtained through the years. Research obtained in Ryugu-jo, money taken from the Japanese criminal underworld in Shinjuku, knowledge gained from funding the Inazuma Gakuen and learning every student techniques and family traditions, the Benkeinium mined from Masako Hihashi while he was in Dr. Kago’s lab in Osaka, Sakka Jaakuma’s powers, Blank Gainen Medals filled with energy from the Sakurajima Portal, the information he gained from his long infiltration inside the JHWAB, divine power drawn from the unbalance of the 4 Divine Beasts of China, advanced Technomnyojutsu programming from the Nexus Stone stolen in Kyoto, parts from Uzhastale and interdimensional technology obtained from Falken thanks to Dr. Lazarus dimensional Hub.
Everything with the sole purpose of creating this entity. But what would be the function of the entity? Only time would tell, as the Forgotten Emperor fiddled with a console as the Memory Wraith of Dr. Lazarus handled Marika’s wounds, unless Yuu attempted to stop him. Kuro-san’s endgame was about to start.

Akane was impressed by the power of the combination, the force was strong enough for her to get sent flying all the way back to the rest of the group. As she regained her footing she looked around for Callis, Akane would not stay to see the results of the attack and moved instead towards her lover, she calmly offered him her hand so he could stand properly.
"Good job, love"-She told him while attempting to help him stand straight. Musashi looked at the damage Gen had made and noticed they had achieved their goal, despite his arm getting destroyed.
"It seems he made it...perhaps someone should check his condition"-She suggested, implying it wouldn't be her, She was taking care of Callis after all.
For all the bad things Gen had, it would seem he was a true warrior. The sight of his arm reminded her of the time she almost lost her own.
"This is not what I came here for, where is Yuu Arachnee?"- Z replied after looking at the knocked out boxer for a second.
"She must be with Marika by now, Cadence also headed there, I wonder if either is still alive? maybe they ended up killing each other"- She told at Z in an effort to make him leave. with Callis being vulnerable right now, it was dangerous to have him in the same room as the Raian.
Z stood still for a second, he felt Yuu's energy, but couldn't exactly pinpoint it. Either way, she was clearly still alive.
"She is alive...we have been wasting our time here. Martha, Robin, let's go."

When the combined might of three spirit boxers tore the cell apart, Martha rushed not away from the shockwave but towards it. She grabbed Haruko and Arthur, yanking them back with her as she bolted to the back of the room. “Sorry for yanking you, but you’re all hurt, and she was right there too, and I didn’t want you to get blown up!” She rapidly explained before Dan landed among them, thrown bodily by the explosion. “...eh, totally fair you didn’t grab me too.” He grumbled and picked himself up. Sore, but he’d live. He had seen it coming and he knew how to fall. Wasting no time, he walked up to the edge of the abyss. “Arthur, you think you could make us a bridge to the cell?”
Martha ignored him entirely, watching Z and Akane. She visibly relaxed when he asked her to come along. “Yeah! Let me do one thing first!” She bolted across the room again and came back with Gen, laying him down in front of Arthur. “Just had to help out a friend.” She was deeply confused as she drew away. Nothing made sense today. She was getting beat up by this guy not long ago, and now they were helping each other out? I guess that’s a good thing. She thought. She jogged to catch up with Z, finding Robin outside. “Glad that explosion didn’t pulp you two. Come on, this place sucks, let’s get going.” She walked ahead, keeping an eye behind her. “Everybody’s moving around too much in here.” She complained. “I’ve trekked up and down the place like five times now… what the hell happened to that beardy guy I let out?” She wondered to nobody in particular.
Yuu remained quiet when Kuro-san approached her. She just silently nodded, letting Dr. Lazarus look at Marika’s injuries. Yuu had managed to make the worst of them, the sprout piercing her neck, survivable for now, but there was plenty more to work with. Yuu just knelt, watching him for a long time. “Why?” She finally asked. “What is it for? All of it. It can’t possibly be worth it.” Her eyes turned to the ashes again, the bone fragments remaining.
