4th of May 2018 - Low Atmosphere
A figure clad in black armor looked down from a very precarious ledge. A shell of dark metal bands surrounded his body, a jet black armor covering his form. Orange visors gleaming with inner light scanned the vast sky beneath the ledge. So far up that the ground was almost invisible, even for the keen eyesight of the man. Floating in the middle of the high atmosphere, a high tech hot air balloon precariously tethered to the planet by the waning chains of gravity. The figure in black sighed before jumping off the metal container floating thanks to the balloon. He started a free fall, knowing very well where he wanted to land.
Soon he would arrive at his target, but it would take a while for that to happen. His shadow cast over a large area, a dark omen of things to come...

June 2016 - Atlas Island
Gen Shishioh stood in a pool of iridescent water, one of many natural looking pool forming a mandala-like design if seen from above, each taller than the one before until reaching a single pillar of stone with the highest pool, over which a young genderless individual floated over, cross-legged, looking down on the Hot-Blooded Brawler. -What the hell do ya mean?- Gen asked rudely as he tried to move, discovering he was frozen in place. His eyes frantically scanned the area until he located his sister. -RIN! WAKE UP!- He shouted, but his voice slowly left him, leaving him opening his mouth but emitting no sound. -Calm down student of my student, no harm will befall you or your sister, in fact, the water you’re standing in and she is floating over has healing properties, you can rest assured both of you will leave in a better state than how you got in.- This managed to calm Gen, finally dawning on him that this young kid was the person he came to see. The Gainen Warrior cleared his throat, his voice returning to him. -Why did ya call me here for?- He asked.
Nensho giggled, jumping off the pillar and stepping on thin air, each of his steps causing ripples in the air as if a single leaf landed on a tranquil pond. -I have gone beyond the need to interact with the world, beyond petty concerns of those still miles away from reaching enlightenment.- He kept going down until he was standing in front of Gen. -But I cannot remain in this world if this world ceases to exist.- The Hot-Blooded Brawler looked at Nensho with a dumbstruck expression on his face. -What…- He barely managed to start speaking when the Sage cut him. -It seems you’re just like Reiji, not quick enough on the draw.- Nensho sat on thin air, looking down on Gen with very well earned arrogance. -I’ll explain in small words so you can understand, jeez is like training Reiji all over again.- Gen contained his desire of punching Nensho and listened, as he was smart enough to understand the gravity of the situation. -You’re quicker than Reiji, I’ll give you that.- Nensho walked around Gen, stepping on thin air. -I’m sure your master talked to you about the Gainen, right?- The Hot-Blooded Boxer nodded, showing his medal to him. -Perfect, that saves us a lot of time, follow me please.-
Nensho walked towards one of the curved walls of the cavern made of smooth, slightly damp stone, a hole opened up as if the wall was alive, allowing passage to the Grandmaster and Gen. They entered a crystalline tunnel, in which images of the past started being displayed. -The Gainen have been a minor annoyance during most of history, appearing only from time to time, homing towards people with a natural connection to their plane, we call them Shindou.- Images flashed, some people Gen knew and others he never saw before. Raisa from Inazuma Gakuen. The woman behind the events in Orasul Sange. The weird guy he saw while being held in Osaka. A young woman with purple hair and a sailor uniform. An old man dressed in sharp clothes. A feisty looking woman with short white hair and high tech armor. Another woman with a similar armor, but with long brown hair and an eyepatch. A girl covered in bandages with pink hair. Others flashed, but Gen couldn’t even see their features. -My boy, you need to understand that Shindou serve more or less as lightning rods for the Gainen, because of their connection and the energy they store.-
-But thanks to one of them, being manipulated by a Gainen, a stable gateway was opened.- Another image showed a very tall and thin man, with messy seaweed-like hair flopping off his head, covering his large round spectacles that reflected light coming out a circular contraption with a shining disk created within the metallic boundaries of it. -His name was Eiyu Shomei and he was the Shindou of Invention, capable of creating anything he imagined, knowing exactly how to build it, even with subpar materials.- A new image flashed, showing a younger man, with a sober haircut and a clean lab robe. -His assistant opposed him and stole part of the research, the medals you have is from that research material.- More images flashed, a young Reiji teaming up with other youngers than him to fight the Gainen. -I knew the Gainen were a threat, so I sent Reiji to join up the team created by the lab assistant to fight them.- More scenes of fight. -Reiji found out something during the final battle, something he promised to take to his grave.- Nensho stopped, looking directly at Gen. -You need to find out what that is, I feel like that is crucial information.- The Hot-Blooded Boxer glared at the Grandmaster with intensity. -Why me? Why tell me?-
Nensho smiled. -Because is not something that only Reiji knows… But also your father, so your family is tied by blood in this crusade to save everything.- Gen took a step back, looking at Nensho with surprise and disbelief. -My father? The lardass?- Nensho shook his head. -Daigoro Shishioh isn’t your father, and he isn’t your sister’s father either.- A new image appeared, showing a tall and well built man, with tanned skin, black hair and the same expression so many people had seen in Gen’s face during battle. -Ichigan Nagare, Reiji’s first student and the master of Goemon Williams, who you’ve met before.-
January 2017 - Kazegawa State - Kobe
Gen, as he had been doing since he left the Dimensional Waypoint in Lazarus, spent his mornings meditating on the Kazegawa State Dojo. He had much to think and lately he wasn’t thinking on his own as the Battle Gainen accompanied on his planning. “Are ya sure ya don’ know anythin’ else?” He asked inside his mind, to which the Gainen of Battle scoffed. <We’ve been over this several times kiddo, I told you everything I know, I don’t remember much of my time with Reiji or your old man.> Gen gritted his teeth, containing the desire to shower his Gainen with insults. Thankfully before he could lose control the sliding wooden door opened and through the doorway entered Yuriko Kazegawa, the owner of the state, best friend to Rin, Gen’s sister. -Aniki! Don’t be sullen, you’ll get white hairs meditating every day.- She joked while moving closer with a folder in her hand. -I've got a lot to think about.- She chuckled. -You keep saying that world and I’m going to think you got replaced by aliens.- Gen shook his head, confused. -What word?- Yuriko laughed again. -”Think” you and that word don’t mix.- The Former Delinquent glared daggers at Yuriko. -Very funny…- He noticed the folder. -Did ya get the information?- She nodded opening the folder and placing it on the floor. Several photos and documents slipped out from their bindings opening in a fan of data.
-I had to spend quite the sum, but I located your Master, they took him to the maximum security prison known as Shirokumo.- Gen scoffed. -I knew that ya know where it is?- Yuriko smiled. -I’m getting there aniki, don’t get snippy, it doesn’t suit you.- Gen crossed his arms, glaring at her. -Well, the only window of entry is next year, they’ll be transporting 3 new inmates and they’ll drop the barrier for 15 min to allow passage.- Gen nodded. -So I have 1 year to make a team… Is more than enough time.- She got closer, leaning forward with interest. -A team? Who do you plan on taking?- She asked. The Hot-Blooded Boxer narrowed his eyes. -You’re not coming, and neither is Rin.- An arrow buzzed through the air, with Gen dodging at the last moment. The blue energy arrow hit one of the wooden pillars of the dojo, causing a massive crack to appear on it, from top to bottom. -I’m coming brother, either you want it or not.- Gen glared at Rin. -Ya ain’t fuckin’ comin’ and that’s final Rin, ya almost kicked the bucket back in Atlas, I ain’t riskin’ yer life again.- He sounded pissed, but Rin knew he was actually worried for her wellbeing. -If I don’t go with you, I'd bet you will do something stupid.-
Gen glared for a moment until his expression softened quite a bit. -I know ya’re right Rin.- He walked towards her putting his hand over her shoulder. -But ya’re too smart for this kind of thing, Imma goin’ to the belly of the beast, ya know?- The Former Delinquent gave the hint of a smile. -Ya should focus on yer studies, leave the fightin’ for the muscle-brained idiots like me, plus I don’t know if ya’re strong enough for this one.- Gen released her shoulder after a soft clench and turned around, to continue his conversation with Yuriko. But before any of them could say anything, Rin bonked Gen in the head with the shaft of her spear. The Gainen Warrior grabbed his head in pain, turning around while shouting. -WHAT THE FUCK RIN!?- Her expression was as cold as the northern seas. -You don’t get to say I’m not strong enough without proving it.- Rin took a fighting stance. Gen narrowed his eyes as he popped his neck. -So that’s how it’s gonna be? I’ll play yer fuckin’ game, but no Ki… Ya can keep yer weapon, ya’ll need the advantage.- Rin sneered. -What’s the winning condition?- She asked and Gen replied with a smirk. -Ya need to knock me down once and I’ll allow ya to come.- He also took a fighting stance and both prepared for the match, with Yuriko giving the signal for them to start.
November 2017 - JHWAB HQ - Deep below Tokyo
Roshi Yasumori had been working overtime for more than 1 year already, trying to fix everything he found broken. He couldn’t believe the scope of the damage done to his organization. Even worse, many individuals didn’t recall anything and didn’t understand that something was off. The leader of the JHWAB wanted to retire, but he knew that before leaving he needed to fix this problem. For that purpose he extended an invitation for a new joint Hidden World Organizations Council he would host, to explain the situation to all the leaders. It would be painful, but he would have to swallow his pride and admit the world ending crisis he was facing. The Omega Squad and the Military Branch had been working from dawn till dusk fighting Gainen popping up from out of nowhere. He didn’t want to admit it, but everything was getting out of hand and after finally discovering what “Ikari” stole, things were getting more and more dangerous. Yet today, he was busy with another issue coming from his recovered memories. Something was off about Shirokumo.
The Prison of Shirokumo was a recent addition to the JHWAB, after they took over the floating Tengu Castle of Lord Arashi, as payment for that clan attack on Shinjuku. One of his advisers convinced him of turning it into a prison and Roshi agreed. The problem was that said advisor was Kyotei Oboide, his secretary, who turned to be an impostor. Since the recovery of his memories he knew something was wrong in Shirokumo, but unluckily he couldn’t send investigators because of the location natural defenses, existing inside a perpetual storm cloud that only opened during short windows of time. The next opening would happen in 2 months, at the beginning of the year, as it only opened for New Year’s Eve and one week until closing again for 1 year. Roshi wanted to go himself, but he was needed for the council and he was lacking manpower, so once again he had to utilize the emergency protocols once again, allowing a Military Agent to lead a team of contractors. And he knew exactly the right person for the job, considering his relationship with the Bureau and his connections with the Hidden World.
Roshi called Norio Bushitora and Callis Nomene to his office, they had much to discuss and little time to do it.
1st of May 2018 - Shirokumo Prison - Research Wing
A massive cube of packed stones floated surrounded by dark clouds, crackling with lightning. From each of the faces of the stone, except two, 4 large Japanese castles sprouted out, with blue tiles and dark wooden interiors. Once a mighty Tengu Palace, now a prison to handle most of the scum in the Hidden World. Or that’s what it’s supposed to be. Shirokumo, the Castle Among the Clouds, wasn’t serving its purpose for more than one year after Kuro-san and his followers took over it. The Forgotten Emperor had planned this for years, he had been sending former associates here while serving as Roshi Yasumori under an assumed identity. He was the one who directed the JHWAB’s leader attention towards the abandoned castle, a castle his own actions vacated, as he was the one who manipulated the Tengu to unseal Arashi in Shinjuku, he was the one who attracted “heroes” by staging a gang war in Tokyo. Everything was going according to his plan. He was even getting ready for the last step, and for that purpose, he hired Marika Arachne. Kuro-san, flanked by his most trusted scientific advisor, Doctor Lazarus, knocked on the wooden door of Marika’s room. -Arachne-san, I wish to speak with you.- The deep monotone voice of Kuro-san filtered through the small window of the door.
There was a long silence before the door finally swung open. Marika stood slumped, pajamas clearly quickly thrown on and hair a tangled mess falling over her unglassed face. “Ugh. Whaaaaaaat?” She blinked, glancing back at Miles sleeping in the bed behind her as if to make sure he was still there.
Kuro-san gently slid the door open, entering the living room. He took his shoes off as he did and so did Lazarus. The room was pretty luxurious, once being home to a researcher who studied the most unique prisoners. Kuro-san, who wasn’t one for luxury, gave it to Marika to use as she pleased during her work visits to Shirokumo. -I need to speak with you about your progress in our project.- He sat down on the small wooden table with golden trims, using a perfect Seiza position. He wasn’t wearing his usual long coat, he only had his dress shirt and vest on and oddly his sleeves were rolled up, something quite unusual for him. A cobweb of scars could be visible on his right arm, and just on the fringe of his rolled-up sleeve, there were tiny pieces of a larger irezumi tattoo design. -l understand your accommodations are quite comfortable, but you’re supposed to be working since 6 o’clock each day, Doctor Lazarus has a schedule and so do I.-
“Come on, I work on my own time. I was up till 3 on this thing last night.” Marika glared at Kuro-san for entering her space without permission, but she remained still. “I’m on the hard part. Making brains perfect is difficult. My work’s bodies are perfect… but you’ve seen Martha. I need my rest or you’ll get another of her.” She crossed her arms.
Kuro-san didn’t spoke, his cold red eyes were locked on Marika as she explained herself. Once she finished it was his turn. -That’s another issue I wanted to discuss, there is a schedule, that also points out you shouldn’t be working at 3 in the morning, one you keep ignoring and making me reconsider our business agreement.- The coldness of his voice was almost lowering the actual temperature of the room. Lazarus, silent and almost shivering, looked to the floor with impossibly sorrowful eyes. -I don’t want excuses Arachne-san, I want results and I want them before the week ends, or I’ll torch the facility in Russia.- A dangerous red glow appeared on Kuro-san eyes, while his face was still an emotionless mask. -And I’ll ask Ikari to clean up the trash.- Without expecting a reply he stood up, gesturing Lazarus to follow him. With the same gentleness as before he opened the door and let the scientist come out first, as he turned around and added. -If you require any scientific help you can always ask my advisors and they’ll find the way to help you.- He closed the door as he left, leaving Marika alone on the living room.
Marika could have been mistaken for a particularly ugly statue for the next minute. Finally, she started to shake, tears running down her face. She could feel it. The verge of a total meltdown. “Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!” She yelled at the top of her lungs, running into the other room. Yuu sat in a wooden chair, sewing a hoodie in her lap. “I tried to wake you up earlier, but you… needed your privacy.” Yuu said mildly. Marika surprised her with a hug and sobbed into her shoulder for a good minute. Yuu just awkwardly patted her back until she stopped. “Yuu I need to work! Get Miles up, I need you two to, I don’t know, I can’t-” “I understand, Marika. Get going, I’ll get Miles.” Yuu set her little girl on her way and jumped into action. Pride swelled up in her. Not about oversleeping. That was irresponsible if expected. No, Marika was learning how to handle her mental weaknesses. Maybe in just a few more years, when this Kuro-san madness was long behind her, her little girl would finally be whole.
Before Marika could even leave the room somebody else knocked but lacking the gentleness Kuro-san used. Hard knuckles hit the wooden door, making the doorframe tremble. -I heard voices in there, so I know you’re awake and I hate waiting for people, so open up.- Ikari’s rough voice, barely muffled by the walls, pierced through their ears like sharp knives. Seemingly he was in a hurry and didn’t want to wait.
Yuu jumped and grabbed the door, Marika yelping and grabbed for a bra, already having thrown off her pajama shirt. Yuu would have waited, but Ikari was ready to knock down doors in his best moods. She swung the door open, staring up at Ikari while Marika wrapped herself in Yuu’s sheets, glaring out of her makeshift cloak. “Ikari-san, it’s a surprise to see you here.” She said with as much decorum as she could muster.
Ikari glared at Yuu with the kind of glare that punches holes through solid steel. -There is a security issue we must discuss.- He spewed the words with metaphorical bile. Ikari usually was more composed than this, something must’ve really ticked him off to be like this. -As the one in charge of security, I monitor activity that could endanger this operation.- The Agent of Hatred was brimming with badly contained anger and hatred, burning inside him. -But first, won’t you offer a guest Tea? I despise bad manners.- He entered the room and dropped down on the tatami floor right besides the wooden table, sitting in the opposite spectrum to Kuro-san, with one leg crossed over the floor and the other with the knee at chest height. -Chop-Chop, I don’t have all day.- He said at Yuu, glaring while he did it.
Yuu instantly gestured to the kitchen. “Marika, please make our guest some tea.” Yuu piled clothing into Marika’s hands and shoved her away. The seamstress didn’t complain, dropping the blanket and charging off at mach speeds. “Usually, when a guest expects to be treated well, they are grateful to their host.” Yuu knelt across from Ikari, the ghost of a smile on her lips.
-Keep waiting, because I don’t have time for pleasantries, you bunch clearly do, if you haven’t woken up yet.- His reply was as sharp as his swords. -My contacts have told me the JHWAB is planning a prisoner transfer to Shirokumo.- Ikari started explaining. -But is weird, they don’t usually transfer 3 prisoners, they usually gather 10 or more, not to mention they don’t have any guard rotations planned.- He leaned back. -At first, I thought it was just an abnormal circumstance and nothing more, but then I found out who was leading their mission.- In a complete disregard of etiquette, Ikari spat on the floor with disgust, as if the mere thought of saying the name he was about to say filled his mouth with gall. -Their new star Military Agent Callis Nomene.-
Something contracted in Yuu’s chest. It couldn’t be a heart, given she didn’t have one, but it certainly felt like one. “I see we’ve both met him.” She kept her pleasant tone but something was hammering away inside. Marika returned, fully dressed with teacups on plates. “Here! I have to get to work!” She handed them to Yuu and Ikari and bolted. Yuu took a long, deliberate sip, boiling heat no matter to her. She felt like she was burning hotter than that right now.
The doll hadn’t even considered meeting Callis again. She thought it was a chance meeting, some bright spark of fortune that flashed once and was never seen again. Stop it. Marika-voice demanded. It gets so gross in here when you get mushy thoughts. The thought-devil was soundly ignored. “So this was just a warning? I appreciate you thinking of me. Do you know who will be with him?” She asked. She would have to do research. Prepare a strategy. That in itself made her twist up inside. There were so many ways this could go wrong.
-Yes, I had the displeasure of meeting him.- Ikari took a sip of the tea without flinching. He looked the cup in disgust and once Marika was out of earshot he added. -Your boss can’t do tea for shit.- He stood up, throwing the tea in the kitchen sink and started from scratch. As he brewed the tea he kept talking. -Is not just him, if he was alone with some low-level agents I wouldn’t be suspicious, but he is bringing some heavy guns with him, what points me towards the idea of proper investigation.- Ikari slowly and methodically stirred the green tea in a pot, adding the water gradually. - If rumors are to be believed he’s bringing his girlfriend in and that’s somebody to be scared about.-
HAH! Marika-voice’s voice was ear-splitting to Yuu. She showed no reaction but a slight slump of her shoulders. “Hm. He seemed quite shy of women when I met him. I guess he found a woman worth getting over that for.” She spoke slower now, standing to walk over to Ikari. She watched him stir the leaves for a while. “What is her name?”
-She is Akane Musashi, heiress of the biggest clan of warriors in Japan.- Ikari explained. -They usually kept to their region and their demon hunting, but lately, they’ve been operating more freely.- The Agent of Hatred served a cup of tea for himself and one for Yuu, picking up the one Marika brewed and dropping it into the trash, water and all. -Disgusting.- He muttered as he did, before returning to the table. -Other big names are Jose Hernandez, that brat climbing positions in the Spirit Boxing Federation, I think you’ve met him as well.- He finished the tally adding two more. -There are two more I know little about as they operate in America and Europe mostly.- Ikari pulled out a map from inside his jacket, placing it over the table. -If they arrive they will do it here.- He pointed at the East Wing of the Prison, the Administrative Sector. -So they won’t be able to reach us without moving through the Supermax wing.- He pointed to the center of the palace. -I’ll be monitoring the situation to see what will they do, but if you were me, what defenses would you prepare if the investigation happened?-
Yuu leaned her head back and thought. “I would want to do more research. But my first thoughts are that some of these corridors are narrow. I could have Josefina block one off entirely. While they’re trapped, our forces could attack from behind and trap them against her. But… I have another trap. I will have Sidney provide blueprints for your approval.” It was a simple trick she had in mind, easy for a mind like Sidney’s. If she got him alone… this was a chance.
She looked at Ikari, the symbol of Kuro-san’s control over them. She had no doubt that if Marika displeased the boss, Ikari would be the one who conveyed that displeasure. She would likely be the target. So Callis has fought you. Could have won? The thought was making her feel strange again. She knew what it was. It wasn’t why she was going to do what she planned. It wasn’t even a factor. But it would feel good to whisper in Callis’ ear, she knew that.
Ikari nodded. -Those are interesting “ideas”.- His tone was quite clear about his opinion. -I’ll think about, still, I’m interested in your “sister” ability to block walls.- Once again his mocking tone was more than enough to convey his message. -I think of another option thanks to that.- He left the map on the table, besides what could possibly be one of the best cups of tea Yuu would ever taste. -Take the map to the floaty one and make her mark where the traps should be placed.- He spoke with coldness as he stood up and left, at least a bit more calm than before.
Yuu didn’t even watch him go. She just sipped the tea he had made. It was good. She turned to look at the mirror. Her forehead touched that of her reflection and she sighed, clouding her vision. “Akane Musashi, I do not know you.” She saw her in her foggy double, a copy of herself, but that was mere wish fulfillment. It was not her she would see on Callis’ arm. “I do not know you, but I hope you make him happy. That’s all I can ask for.” She drank her tea and turned to her laptop. She supposed it was time to meet her foes. Research awaited.
Kuro-san left Marika’s room and kept walking through the smooth wooden floors and the richly decorated hallways. The Research Wing of Shirokumo was the most richly decorated of the sectors in the former Tengu Palace, as before it was taken it was the home to the Tengu Nobility. The prison contained some of the most dangerous criminals the JHWAB has ever captured. Kuro-san offered some certain freedoms if they helped him, so brilliant mad scientists served as his advisors' assistants, while others helped Ikari with security. But one individual got the Forgotten Emperor’s attention. It was the first time Kuro-san met an actual alien. He met interdimensional beings before, but never extraterrestrial life. Kuro-san gently knocked on Z’s door, as he was given a room alongside his advisors, considering his unique powers being quite useful to keep prisoners from revolting. -Z-san, I wish to speak with you.- The cold monotone of Kuro-san’s voice echoed across the wooden hallways.
The alien was not used to speaking with humans, they were mostly considered cattle to him, however, Kuro was different, he seemed to be above most of his kind, the time he spent on Earth had made the Raian soldier soft, he would have never thought there were individuals on such a remote planet that could match his strength. The alien looked at the man for a second before looking at the wall again.
“What is it that you need?” he answered in a deep voice, inhumanly possible to replicate.
-I’ve come with a warning and a request.- Kuro-san entered the room, his menacing aura slowly flooding the chamber, almost as if his mere presence dimmed the lights. He wasn’t that much taller than Z, but the shadows seem to coalesce around Kuro-san, making him look almost as inhuman as the alien. Ikari usually talked about security issues, but Kuro-san knew that he couldn’t just send hired help to interact with Z, plus Ikari utterly despised the alien so coming himself was better than losing half of Shirokumo in a grudge match between the two. -It has come to my attention that in the days to come a group of individuals might come to investigate this location.- He started explaining, sitting on the floor with a perfect seiza stance. -I wish that you join the efforts to stop them from reaching us if the situation asks for it.- Kuro-san, was, if nothing, a very good salesman, he really knew how to motivate people. -Three of them hold weapons of untold history and power, and if you happen to take their lives, you might keep the weapons for yourself, as we agreed on beforehand.-
At first glance, weapons were the thing that caught Z’s eye the most, but in truth, he kept them around to hunt more. The Raian stood up as he walked past Kuro.
“Consider it done, It’s been a while since I had a meal”
Z waved his hand as some of his possessions flew back towards him, most of them were trophies he had collected in the last decade, but most of his collection was still elsewhere, some round objects akin to marbles flew into his pocket, a couple of guns that did not seem from earth, a katana with exquisite details on the sheath, and an HWIC ID card. He glared at it before looking at Kuro.
“ID cards are important, cattle like to brand those with the same genes as them with common names, makes it easier to farm their offspring”
He walked out of the room ready to put himself to the task.
4th of May 2018 - Shirokumo - Administrative Wing Docking Bay.
Callis had gathered a team from all over the world, leading it as their liaison to the JHWAB. The Beast Knight was unsure of some of his picks, but most of them had plenty of recommendations. The protocol was to send Teleporting Charms to everyone and to use them at the same time, to appear in the Shirokumo Docking Bay. All of the chosen individuals were sent letters explaining the 1st mission, but only Callis knew about the second mission. He would be transported to Shirokumo alongside a sealed containment unit with 3 pods, holding three criminals. The other members of his team would appear at the same time as him and he would debrief them on the spot. They’ve been vetted and approved, yet Callis felt as if he needed somebody to trust, so he asked Akane to come with him, and have his back. He also managed to get Jose Hernandez, even when he wanted to get both him and his master, who was busy and couldn’t come. The Beast Knight also hoped to enlist Haruko Miyata, but he couldn’t find her, so he contacted the HWIC hoping to get a location, they ended up sending one of their agents to join up the mission. Finally, the last member was highly recommended by European organizations and had an impeccable record.
Readying himself, Callis used the charm and a whirlwind surrounded him. He vanished into it and appeared on a wooden platform floating over an abyss of dark clouds. The Beast Knight waited for the others to join up.
4th of May 2018 - Hokkaido - Sapporo
Gen Shishioh, sitting next to his sister Rin, awaited for some friends to arrive. Gen had been planning this for almost a year and only now he was feeling uneasy about the whole thing. For starters, he was about to take his sister into one of the most dangerous places in Japan. To guard his back he had a jolly karate giant he used to watch movies off, a pink haired knife throwing magical girl, a babyfaced wizard and a guy dressed in pink who he barely knew. The Former Delinquent also had his doubts about their transport, as the only one crazy enough to transport them to Shirokumo was a crazy techno-hermit who lived outside regular society after some experiments involving sheep that he doesn’t want to talk about. -Are we doin’ the right thin’?- He whispered, placing his chin over his hands, that rested on his knees. Rin looked at her brother with a smirk. -If you’re having second thoughts I know we’re screwed.- Gen glared at her for a second but his expression softened. -If this goes wrong we’re goin’ to be fugitives Rin, I can handle that, but I ain’t want that for ya.-
Even after a full 2 years since he returned, Rin was still kind of off-putted by Gen being so nice most of the time, when they’re growing up he was mostly a pest, but since he left from the bizarre prison he was in he changed a lot. -Don’t worry about that, we have back-up and I don’t think anybody up there could stop us.- Gen nodded. -Yeah, but still, somethin’ feels off.- He grabbed his stomach. -I feel it in my gut.- She rolled her eyes. -Last time you followed your guts you lost your underwear betting against Yuriko when we played Strip Poker that time in Okinawa.- Gen sighed, standing up and looking around the makeshift watchtower made of scrap, hoping to see anybody coming. -Sis, I’m serious, something is wrong.- She stood up placing her hand over his shoulder. -We’re going to do great, we’re Shishioh’s nothing can stop us, I mean, you died twice and came back twice.- Gen sighed again. -Let’s only fuckin’ hope the third time ain’t the fuckin’ charm.- Rin chuckled. -You’re being a real stick in the mud today, you know?- He rubbed his eyes and turned around to reply with something cutting, but he was interrupted by a thunderous bellow.
-FRIENDS! HOW’RE YOU DOING!?- Goemon arrived, dressed on his white sleeveless gi with golden accents and black belt. Birds flew off from nearby snowy trees, some even lost part of the snow, just from the volume of the Karate Star’s voice. For the third time today, Gen sighed. -Let’s hope the others arrive soon, I ain’t dealin’ with his fuckin’ smiles today.-

4th of January 2018 - Musashi Castle - Weapons Vault. Akane had taken her job a lot more seriously these past months, now that she knew she was part of the Shinto Kami, her responsibilities had grown tenfold, not only was she trained by her mother further into the Niten Ichi-Ryu style, her targets were now mostly low-level deities. She was now part of a family war between the factions of her father and the undead Goddess Izanami. The memories of her past life were now fully restored, creating a split personality on Akane who at times wasn't sure on whether she was the Heiress of the Musashi clan, or Miyamoto himself. This happened especially whenever she was in battle, the blood of the unrivaled boiled within her and a whole nother person took control. Strong, skilled, but far more ruthless than her normal self. It was only next to Callis where Akane could truly be a 26-year-old girl and not some legendary warrior from a forgotten era.
As she strolled through the weapons vault, she tried reassuring herself that nothing wrong would happen. She would aid Callis to the best of her ability. The trust they built on each other had grown yet even stronger as time went by. Akane touched some of her recent scars made by a Yama no Kami, she thought Perfect warrior would keep her safe all this time, but gods were beings that could permanently harm her. The scar unavoidably brought the thought of Callis and how his body was covered by a myriad of similar marks. Akane smiled and deemed her own as insignificant in comparison.
She selected all the weapons of her interest, mounting four blades in sets of two by her side. She then moved to the main mission. It was still fresh news that the JHWAB had managed to successfully capture the specimen Z, an incredibly dangerous life form that had easily defeated her in the past. An eerie feeling overcame her for a moment, but she was ready.
"This is Akane Musashi, I'm ready to leave the castle grounds and move to the Shirokumo facility, Amaterasu Onee-Sama, I leave everything in your hands."
Akane made use of the teleporting charm as a whirlwind translocated her into the facility, there Callis was, waiting for her arrival as well as for the rest of the team. She gently smiled at Callis while resting her hands on the blades she had chosen.
"Seems I made it early! ready for work, love?"

Marika’s doll construction team had the entire floor to themselves. They certainly needed the space. The mass of body parts in the center of the room measured nearly 50 feet, far exceeding Marika’s former most massive project. Marika sat at the head, putting in the last touch. A thread trailed from the scalp of the creature, dangling in front of her face. She had a massive bound book before her, carefully looking through its pages, whispering and drawing a symbol in the air only about once every ten minutes. Every time she did so, the string flashed gold. A slender male was sleep in the room Marika had spoken to Kuro-san in, blankets curled up to his chest as he slept through the night. His dirty blond hair reached down to his shoulders, and was largely in an unkept state. He slowly began to stir at the strange shaking sensation he was feeling at his side. “Bwuuuuh…?” He asked, looking up. “Wake up. Marika is already working and she needs your support.” Yuu threw the clothes Miles wore the last day onto the bed. “Kuro-san is getting impatient.” She warned. Miles immediately jolted awake and pulled his white button-up shirt on, followed by his black coat that he left open. He finished getting dressed after pulling on his black pants and lacing up his shoes. “What the hell is she doing up at this hour?! Marika worked on that damn thing until 3 in the morning!” Miles asked in frustration, pulling out a knife from his pocket and beginning to twirl it in his hand by the small ring at the bottom. “Kuro-san doesn’t want her doing that either. We have to keep her… impulses in control. This project needs the mindset of an engineer, not an artist. She can’t just work whenever she’s in the mood.” Yuu had to agree with Kuro-san on this one. Trying to focus Marika’s impulsive and flighty nature was how she spent at least 50% of her time. Miles glared at the door before responding. “If he wanted an engineer, he should have asked one of the eggheads walking around the hallway. He asked an artist, he gets a damn artist!” Miles shot back, wincing slightly when he said ‘damn’. Memories of his time in Hell briefly flashed before his eyes. He let out an annoyed sigh and motioned for the door. “Let me guess, she’s in the room with the big project again?” He asked. “Yes. She’s programming and she needs to be kept on track. She finds programming dull. I know we can agree on one thing. Neither of us wants to find out when Kuro learns that Marika has scrambled the brain of his great creation.”
The thought of the giant monster Marika was working on going haywire made Miles’s eyes go wide for a second. “Yes...we can agree on that. I hate how we’re all trapped in this place until the job is done. Hate...hate...hate…” He seethed. Seeing Marika overwork herself made Miles’s blood boil with rage, but he knew that lashing out against these people wouldn’t be in the best interest of himself or Marika. Yuu though...he wished she did something stupid and died. Yuu looked around the room while Miles seethed. The rooms here didn’t have obvious cameras, but Yuu didn’t doubt that Kuro kept tabs on them somehow. She didn’t voice her own reservations, wary of tiny spies hidden where nobody could see them. “Keep her on task and we’ll be gone sooner.” Was all she said before she left for her own room. The door swung softly shut behind her. Miles went the other direction, taking a turn and entering the room Marika was working in. He saw her working high up at the massive creature’s head and positioned himself to the side, pulling up a chair in a position where Marika would see him once she stopped focusing for a second. He knew interrupting Marika at this stage would only piss her off. She looked up from her book and smiled at him, blowing a kiss. Miles’s face immediately lit up as he reciprocated the gesture. Marika went back to work, motivated once more. ----- Standing in her hotel room, Haruko inspected her attire for the occasion. She wore a purple button-up shirt under a sleek black jacket that went down to her waist, and a pair of black pants that had numerous discrete pockets sewn into them. Several spools were positioned inside of her coat, each with a different type of wire inside. Her pockets were also filled with tiny knives, each with different properties. With a little help from her bounty hunter seamstress friend Leone, Haruko had developed a few new knives for her arsenal. She places several knives with a tiny battery inside her leftmost pocket and turned toward the door. “Ok...this is it. You’re ready.” She said to herself. Haruko had left both Kate and Cosmina in the care of Leone, who assure Haruko that things would be fine. But she knew that Leone was going to offer those two a joyride on her motorcycle when she left. Stepping out of her room, Haruko began to make her way toward the meeting spot. While she had visited Japan many times prior to advertise her brand and meet with her Japanese distributors. The strange address system of Japan was a far cry from the United State’s, and coupled with Haruko’s abysmal sense of direction...it took a while for her to get near the group. It wasn’t until Goemon yelled that she stopped walking in the opposite direction and began jogging toward the group. “Hello!” She called out, waving to the others. She didn’t recognize Goemon...but she did see Gen and Rin. Haruko gave a small bow when she approached. “It’s been a while! How have you two been doing?” She asked, looking off into the distance for a second. Why did it seem like anything that involved these two led to something crazy? Her first meeting with Gen led to them storming a castle filled with black-ooze vampires...and now they were going to do something even more crazy. Could they do it? --- Located in a remote forest, a strange complex of trees grown into the shape of roofless buildings surrounded a small area, below the trees was a clearing filled with hundreds of beautiful multicolored flowers, ranging from pure white to a complete rainbow on some petals. The outskirts of the clearing were surrounded by bushes growing a variety of fruits, from blackberries to green beans. Despite numerous animals coming to pick the contents off throughout the day, the plants seemed to regenerate their stock at a rapid rate. The entire area appeared to have been meticulously sculpted, too unnatural to have been made by nature itself. Inside one of the buildings, a small green-haired woman stared at a letter in her hands. The sun from above lit up the interior of the building, revealing it to contain only a few items. A charcoal-black coat hanger that hung a large green winter coat, a small dresser along the wall, several wooden boxes positioned near the door, a soft carpet that ran from the door to the chair, and a large throne-like chair that the woman sat upon. The chair was adorned with many brightly colored petals, with several other plants stationed around the room dropping their petals to create a sweet-smelling and colorful atmosphere. The woman lifted her smoking pipe and held her head up with her left hand, contemplating her next move. "Hm..." Cadence thought to herself, pressing the pipe to her lips to inhale some of the smoke, then exhaling. Ever since she had gotten her freedom from Marika, Cadence had been working with the HWIC to try and track down where the spider seamstress was. While the HWIC was bound by their own rules and regulations...Cadence had only one reason to cooperate; kill Marika. Though she would never real that...she maintained the facade of only wanting to save her siblings, to stop this serial killer from continuing her rampage. While the HWIC did have methods of detecting lies, Cadence knew they only went so far. She did want to save her siblings and stop Marika...but these motives were far secondary to her main objective. A lie-detector couldn't detect someone not telling the whole truth. The HWIC had given her a report, stating that Marika might have been hired by a strange organization, and might be in a prison called 'Shirokumo'. A teleportation charm was enclosed with the letter, saying to activate it at this time. She was also contacted by someone, explaining how to use the charm. Cadence continued to stare at it, inspecting the charm in her other hand. "...do I want to do this...?" She mumbled aloud, thinking of possible conclusions to this. If Marika was truly there, then she no doubt has the other dolls as well. While Cadence wasn't kept completely in the loop on the Marika developments, she did hear that Marika had developed even more dolls since the last time she was in the Kaspa. Not to mention if Marika was hired by some organization, they likely would have their own security as well. Was this group she was supposed to go with strong enough to do this mission? It would be a complete waste of time if they all died, and she was left in the middle of a prison to escape on her own. Letting out small sigh, Cadence put the charm down and reached into her pocket, pulling out a small metallic disc and staring at it. The image of the imposing man who 'unlocked' this disc and the abomination within flashed across Cadence's mind. "...could he be...?" Cadence mulled over, pondering the idea that this man could be part of the organization that could have hired Marika. Would it be wise to go, knowing that this disc was something the man had interest in? Shrugging her shoulders, Cadence pocketed the disc and looked at the charm. "...might as well try..." Cadence said to herself, activating the teleport charm and sending herself to the group's location. She briefly surveyed the area, taking note of the people present. A strange man with an owl, a tall older man she didn't recognize, a tall woman whom she was already annoyed at, and...the swordsman who fought against Yuu on the day she was freed. What was he doing here? Slowly walking toward the group, Cadence stopped just outside of Callis's striking range. "...hello. I'm sure you...know me...?" She asked, taking another puff of smoke from her pipe. "...don't worry...I have been free for...hm...over a year now...?" She said, pondering. Cadence frequently lost track of what day it was. "...I trust there will be no issues between us...? I am here to help." Cadence asked, staring up at Callis with a blank expression.

“I am Mr. Walters of the HWIC, pleased to meet you. I am Stephan Walters, HWIC Enforcement agent, glad to work with you.” Stephan mumbled into the mirror as he adjusted his tie. “Honey, you’ll be fine.” His wife kissed his cheek in passing. “I know I’ll be fine, but we already have a strained relationship with the JHWAB. I don’t want to be the one to make things worse. Mr. Miyata would display my head in his office.” He made sure his long, angular face was free of stray hairs. “They picked you for a reason. You say you’ve already got a good reputation with them.” Miranda reminded him.
“Well, yes. I’ve done a job or two with them. Alright, it’s time. Should be a simple job, just tedious. I’ll call if we’re running late, but either way you shouldn’t expect me back before dinner.” He took the charm Callis Nomene had sent him and with a final kiss, he vanished. He could feel the difference in atmospheric pressure before he even registered the clouds. He yawned to pop his ears and gracefully stepped over to Callis and Akane. “Walters. HWIC. I hope to be of use to this joint transfer.” He erred on the side of formal, mostly due to recognizing Akane. He offered his hand to shake with Akane first, then Callis. Callis was JHWAB, but Akane was Musashi. The JHWAB had governmental legitimacy, but the Musashi were well-known to hold at least as much power, likely more.
Not long after Haruko appeared, they would hear the snow crunching again. Another, much larger figure rounded the top of the mountain. He was underdressed for the cold, in a denim coat and jeans, and bizarrely had his boots slung over his shoulder to walk barefoot. With equal disregard for the weather, his jacket was open to display a bright pink shirt. Leather gloves covered his hands, matched by pads on his arms and knees and matched in color by the long hair that escaped the motorcycle helmet that covered the top half of his head, a visor coming down over his face.
He paused when he saw the group and pointed to his face. “Uh, hi. It’s me, Dan Drake.” He took off his helmet and shook his head to reorganize his hair. “I didn’t know if you’d recognize me in a different outfit. And different hair.” It was no longer in a ponytail, now hanging free in a curtain. He smiled when he saw that Haruko was already there. He could do this. He had excellent backup. “Gen, please remember that this time.” He half wanted to sock him right off the bat, but that wasn’t productive. He’d get his fight later.
“Yes, those showers. Are you… Sidney, I didn’t want you to take a show- okay, fine, if you can work while you do it. Just put up a sign, there are people all over. I don’t care that you don’t care, I do.” Yuu hung up and put the phone back in her pocket as she entered the room where Marika worked. Marika glanced up and waved before getting back to work. Yuu sat down next to Miles and put a box down. “At our scheduled break in-” She glanced at he phone for the time. “14 minutes, we can have breakfast.” She opened the box, revealing two muffins and two oranges, already peeled. “Oh dear. I forgot to pack you anything, Miles.” The ghost of a smile was haunting her lips.
It was odd to have a forest inside of a prison, and yet trees stood tall under this dome. Beautiful pine, chunky granite, soft leaf litter. Josefina lay among it, gigantic sundress lying atop an equally massive boulder so she could feel the soil with her whole body. She could taste all the ways they had to play with the climate to grow this forest. Artificial wasn’t bad. Without it she couldn’t have any tasty soil at all. It was just different. She felt carefully for any movements in the earth so she could get dressed if anybody came to see her, but wasn’t too worried about it. They had so much space around here.
Martha darted around the open space of the training room, sneakers squeaking on the wooden floor. She ducked and weaved the punches of a silver warrior. Mint-scented sweat glistened and dripped. She’d already lifted weights and shadow-boxed for hours before setting up this match and she was beginning to feel it. Her opponent didn’t get tired however. A silver fist smashed her in her scarred cheek, making her stumble. She caught herself on one hand and recognized weakness in the rubber neck of the steel warrior. Her body turned and a perfect side kick went right into its chin.
The robot fell with a crash. Its head took a few more seconds to come down. “Yeah! ...crap! I broke it! Shikishima’s gonna be mad! Jane, destroy the evidence!” Marth picked the robot up, shaking it at her sister. “I’m already using up all my foam on my project! Besides, you should just be honest. I’m sure he has to fix it all the time.” Jane tied off another water balloon and set it to her side. “Ahhhh... I’m gonna be in so much trouble.” Martha dropped the robot and sat in front of it. For once she actually felt like sitting for a bit. Maybe it was time for a shower and rest before she had to fight for real.

Yesterday…
Inside a small library in Europe, a man was filling a plate with worms and dead insects. An owl was happily flapping its wings as a sign of being fed. Some papers were hanging in a cork board, words were marked as well some pictures. Most of them had the words “blue flames” and said pictures were from two boys with their pets. The first picture was from an island from probably two years ago, an incident that happened in the
Arata Island, a place where hidden world creatures and humans went from time to time. Other, were small incidents that happen after that one. There was an incident with the same company; it seemed they kidnapped small magical creatures in order to produce powerful charms. Another was the agreement between a vampire lord and his fiancée. Then there was a minor incident involving a young kid, which his father disappeared and people from the Vatican wanted to lock the kid because he was a nephilim. Of course, most of this news was from the hidden world, no normal news was going to show such incidents in the first place.
It wasn’t until a knock from the door was heard. The man didn’t expect any clients since the library was closed, but he couldn’t help but to check if it was an urgency.
In the very second he opened the door, a woman entered with her child inside the place. Vladimir tilted his head to one side without understanding the situation. The woman was wearing a black cloche hat, her capelet was dark brown and closed, she also was wearing long black boots with heels. The child by other hand had light blue ugg boots, grey pants, a winter jacket and a backpack. The woman’s face couldn’t be seen but he recognized the child’s face, he was the kid from the news. Light brown hair, glasses and light blue eyes.
It’s been a while, Vladimir Kearney – The woman said as she took off her hat, her eyes were green and once they reached the center they were yellow, her long and straight green hair was accommodated in a braid. Vladimir knew this woman, she was an angel… She used to be the official informant of Heaven in the Driaochta Kingdom, since the King’s guardian was a bit… forgetful.
It’s really been a while… Lucille – The man finally spoke, his tan skin turned white, as if he was seeing a ghost. The angel let her child sit in an armchair near the owl as he observed it with curious eyes.
You might be wondering why I’m here, right? Where do I start? … - The woman sat in a chair as she made appear another for Vladimir, who was almost at the point of collapsing – I have information, and I also have a request. Vladimir gulped his own saliva, still without knowing the reasons why an angel that left the kingdom long time ago returned for a favor.
Twenty five years ago, I left the Kingdom along Jeremy Mac Carthaigh. I know you and him were rivals during your training for paladins – she chuckled at the memory – But… six years ago, when Etoile was born – She said, looking at her child – I got imprisoned in Heaven, for a not authorized creation of a nephilim. During five years Jeremy took care of him and both ran away from the claws of the Vatican, but not so long ago he disappeared and my child’s drawings involves that he did… covered in green flames
Vladimir opened his eyes; he immediately knew who she was suggesting to be the culprit. Still he waited for Lucille to continue, his body was already tense.
After that, I listened from the prison’s rumors that my child was in danger, so I requested an old friend to rescue him, and I didn’t thought I would met her in said prison as well… - She took a break, just to breath air once again, before continuing – Chloe, she is alive! As well Gallerian!
Vladimir lost the air in his lungs, they were still alive? But… he saw how Elatha annihilated them, destroyed their bodies in a burst of green flames. The memory made him sweat as he remembered the pain of that day in the 2nd of January… a day after the prince, Derek Van Dercycle was born… - I… I can’t believe it… I can’t
Well, do it! Because she was released a month ago and I had to escape in order to keep my child safe! His heart could be used to perform nasty curses you know and I barely trust the Vatican! – She spoke almost in a shout, the man nodded at each word – But I’ll go straight to the point of my visit, you’ll see… Chérie, laisses-tu mon ami voir tes dessins? – She spoke to her child, who stood up and took from his backpack a small sketchbook. He went towards Vladimir and gave it to him.
Ce sont des dessins de mes amis Derek et Thomas – The child spoke a bit shy as he opened the book and showed his small doodles, those were easy to read. A yellow figure with blue lines in where it seemed to be the hands and another doodle had brown colors with black lines. It didn’t took a lot for Vladimir to know that they were the same boys from the news… the world is a handkerchief. He almost felt his tears trying to escape, but he managed to stay strong.
Now… Thanks to those boys I managed to reunite with my child, but I came with you because they are in danger right now. Driaochta magic doesn’t work if the host doesn’t read God’s book, but they managed to develop part of said magic and use it. Right now is not dangerous but it will take part of their life force if they force it. The freckled boy seems to be fine by now, but the prince… he is starting to show signs of being drained out. He’s starting to faint despite he thinks of it more like being sleepy.
Vladimir stood up in disbelief, his stress began to increase but Lucille sat him once again.
I know a way so you can get closer without getting Elatha to notice – She made a devilish smirk before continuing – I stole a spell from the Archangel Michael and let me tell you, it wasn’t easy but it’s better than letting that thing free – Of course, she referred to Elatha’s possessor.
The angel touched Vladimir’s forehead with her index finger, making a lot of celtic pentagrams appear in his body, followed by a golden chain of Celtic knots shinning in its Holy power.
I managed to cast this spell in my son and me, in order to avoid that arrogant boss to find us, now that monster and Michael won’t be able to reach you. So you can get closer to those boys.
Why are you doing all of this for me? I don’t get it… - The man asked as he observed the symbols slowly disappearing from his sight.
Because there is something going on with a group of mortals, it seems it’s related to creatures from another realm and trying to manipulate the timeline of the world, you know that angels love to be organized so I take that to my advantage in order to save our necks…
I get it… so… You want me to be a spy somewhere right? – The man added to his previous question, a bit unsure about Lucille intentions…
Yes! There is a flying castle or whatever so I need you to tell me what’s going on since it may envolve another universes from what I was told. Oh! And one last thing about Elatha… I got some nice gossip that there is a fugitive angel, not me… one that has possessed a human body and never returned… I have the small hunch that is related to someone that wants to fight against Heaven… So I bet we’ll be able to detect movement from this creature too – The greenhaired woman finished as she made appear a glass of water for his son, Vladimir and her – Angel of Creation and Communication, I’m a nice informer hehe!
Vladimir was ready to left his house, Lucille and Etoile needed a place to hide by a short period of time so he didn't bother into letting them stay at his house, it would help him to take care of Maitheas, which has been with the small kid the whole day. The man took the letter once again as he read the first mission... It was convenient that Lucille alreasdy managed to search and send information about him, that made him startle a little. Thankfully he had prior uniforms from when he worked as security... he started as a paladin, then went to be a security guard in a mall, from his efficent record and abilities he even got the chance to work for the Queen of England in a short period of time.
He was about to choose one of his uniforms but Lucille interrupted him - NO! NO! NO! Why are you reeling in the past!? You should be focusing in the now! the present! - With part of her magic, she made a whole new suit for the driaochta - This is better and has better fashion taste than all that old crap
Is not old I take perfect care of my belongings... But I do thanks you and yes... you are right - The man spoke a bit nervous, the angel had a lot of personality. He didn't knew how Etoile was a child that barely spoke and was always being so calm. Once she left he managed to dress, it wasn't different from a modern swat uniform, boots, dark blue pants, a belt with guns and pockets to put the minized sized weapons he carried a sleveless black shirt and black gloves. He exited the room a bit confused - Where is the jacket?
You need to look cool, all of the others are younger you know? - Lucille smiled - Do you want me to change your white hairs color?
Please don't... I'm not ashamed of my look...
What about your wrinkles? - She teased, smiling before bursting into laughter when the male tried to deny it despite of having his face red. Once everything was ready the man activated the charm, leaving the other two and the owl in care of the house.
Vladimir noticed the people near him, walking towards them, the ex-paladin left his shy side once he noticed the castle above them... So this was Shirokumo. Lucille managed to inform him about the place as well, that it had some weird smell for her... He got a strange chill as well... the feeling of battle and that he was going to go home pretty late that day, but he decided to do it and finish it as fast as he could, knowing that two of the children that he needed to find are already in danger.
Mr. Callis Nomene? - Vladimir spoke, with a serious tone as he bowed, once he raised his head again he continued - My name is Vladimir Kearney, ex-paladin. It's a pleasure to work with you in this day

There are many things Arthur expected in his life. More than a normal person would since he was aware of the countless possibilities the Hidden World offered. Most of the things he expected were life-threatening and having allies when you expect your life to be threatened is hardly a bad thing. So when Gen asked him for help with a life or death situation, Arthur could hardly say no. Learning about all the shit Gen went through between their encounter on Atlas island and way back when they last met before Atlas, Arthur had to feel bad about not being there to help him. So he had to help him now. For old times sake.
Besides, life or death situations tend to be kinda fun.
Learning that Haruko would be there helped motivate him, too. All this was why he was soaring through the sky at Mach speeds, his red tie fluttering in the freezing high-altitude winds that didn't bother Arthur at all, partially because of his standard black coat with the blue wolf symbol on the back, and mostly because of his affinity for the cold. As he approached he flew past a flock of birds that were more scared of whatever forced them to fly than a super fast flying human. Approaching the group, he got the feeling the man with a loud voice and a louder outfit had something to do with it. Arthur's icy wings suddenly vanished and he went into a freefall.
He landed into the soft cushion of snow, sending it flying all around. Arthur got up, shook the snow off his sneakers, patted away remnant snow from his black jeans and tucked in his button-up shirt.
"Hi, guys. Fancy meeting you here." He waved at the group and bowed towards Rin, the only one he assumed would care much about such formalities. "I heard there was a group of people here mixed up with something crazy. That wouldn't happen to be you, would it?"

Callis smiled upon seeing Akane arrive. He had been dating her for months and he still couldn’t avoid smiling every time he saw her. -Thank you for accepting my request Akane, I feel like this mission could be dangerous and I cannot think of anyone better to have my back.- That might’ve sounded strange to the Musashi Heiress, as so far she only knew the first part of the mission, being a routine prisoner transport, so it might kind of curious for Callis, who usually isn’t one to overestimate a situation, to say such words, there was something the Beast Knight was hiding. Before there was time to ask him what was happening another individual appeared beside her. A tall man, with tanned skin, brown hair and violet eyes. He was well built and his attire, combined with his behavior gave him an air of professionalism. He introduced himself and Callis nodded. -Callis Nomene, JHWAB, thanks for the help.- He extended his hand and stretched Stephan’s. Once again there was no time to continue the introductions as another man appeared. Tall, slender, with tanned skin, freckles and brown hair, he was dressed with a black tank top, reinforced gloves and greaves, combat pants and boots, all very modern. Contrasting that he carried a very old leather-bound book hanging from his multipurpose belt and carried a massive bladed spear. He introduced himself and Callis, incapable of noticing that he was basically seeing himself in a mirror, also bowed with utmost elegance. -The pleasure is all mine Mes Kearney, I have heard of your exploits and I must say I am impressed.- He extended his hand to greet the newcomer.
Almost as if he knew what was coming, his eyes glanced to Vladimir’s side, hoping to see the last member of the team, but nothing happened. -Strange, Mes Hernandez should have arrived by now.- Callis muttered to himself, but his musings got interrupted by Norio’s voice reaching his earpiece. -Nomene-kun- Interference made the voice of the Old Inspector arrive in incoherent fragments. -Hernández… No go... replacement… HWIC… Favor…- The signal, blocked by the eternal storm surrounding the floating prison. Callis was puzzled by the incoherent communication, but soon something else caught his attention, as Cadence appeared standing right beside Vladimir. The Beast Knight would have usually exploded into action, but he was absolutely shocked. He heard her introduction and he was still shocked, his pale blue eyes locked on Cadence, incapable of understanding why did Norio send one of the infamous Hate Dolls to help him. Callis slowly, very gradually, moved his hands towards the back of his waist, pulling both of his blades from their latches. The tonfa-like grip grabbed tightly by his fingers, turning white from the effort as his eyes were locked directly on Cadence. If any of them could feel Killer Intent, they would feel it from Callis, radiating in waves like a sinister aura surging from the depths of the Beast Knight’s heart. This was different to anything Akane had ever seen out of Callis, this was his demeanor upon encountering the undead or undead-like.
Rin got closer to Haruko, grabbing both of her hands. -Thank you very much for coming Miyata-san, I’m going to need to help reining in my brother.- Gen glared at his sister, but soon he was distracted by Dan’s introduction. The Hot-Blooded Boxer didn’t recognize him, not because of the new look, he actually didn’t remember the Pink Comet. -Ya… eh… Mmm… Just a second.- Gen walked away from Dan and pulled Rin out from her conversation with Haruko. -Come with me for a second.- The Former Delinquent walked away from the group and huddle up with his sister. -Who the fuck is that guy? I don’t fuckin’ have a clue.- Rin sighed. -He is Dan Drake, he helped me in Osaka, he was also in Sakurajima, you really don’t remember him?- Gen shook his head, surprised. -Never heard of him.- The Youngest Shishioh sighed again. -He was in Atlas, you fought alongside him.- Gen and Rin looked over their shoulder at Dan, awkwardly waving him. -I really don’t remember him.- Rin head sunk under her shoulders. -Are you kidding me?- She whispered angrily. -How many times did you get hit in the head? There is no other explanation for this apart from a concussion.- Gen thought back, starting to remember some of his fights, half of them in a haze of pain and bloodlust. A small “greatest hits” montage highlight reel started running on his mind’s theatre, showing a series of punches, headbutts, kicks and other heavy blows directed to his head, accompanied by “Les Toreadors” running on a loop. Gen spaced out as this happened and Rin shook his shoulder. -Gen, you can’t tell him you don’t remember him! He came all the way here to help, you can’t just ignore him.- The Former Delinquent sighed. -Okay, okay, I get it.- Rin glanced at her brother with evident caution. -You do?- Gen nodded, winking at her. -Ya’re into him and ya don’t want me to embarrass ya by don’t rememberin’ his name.-
Rin opened her eyes and stood upright. She took a deep breath, evidently trying to calm herself, placing both hands over her mouth forming a tent over it. She took some steps away from Gen and then without any forethought she summoned her spear and cracked Gen with the pommel on his head. -OUCH! WHAT THE FUCK RIN!?- Gen grabbed her sister from the lapel of her jacket and glared at her. She returned the glare with an equal amount of intensity but before either of them could take another action Arthur arrived at the scene. Gen and Rin split apart and both glared at each other for a moment, before Gen replied. -Yes, yes we’re, follow me.- He instructed the group as he walked toward a makeshift building nearby, the walls made of metal planks haphazardly welded together until it formed a massive tower. It kinda looked like a wizard tower but made out of scrap metal. As they walked Goemon approached Haruko and Arthur. -A pleasure to meet you folks! I’m Goemon Williams! You might remember me from movies such as “Hellkicker 3: The Axe Kick of the Satan”, “Ballroom Dancer by Day, Karate Master by Night”, “Ninja Vampires from Outer Space” and “For a Fistful of Fists”.- He introduced himself as always, talking about the movies he starred in years ago. He turned to Dan and did a finger gun. -Drake, you cool?-
The group kept advancing towards the tower.
Riku picked the robot out of Martha’s hands. He had been in the training room since she started, but his presence had diminished a lot since he bonded with the Benkeinium, it was almost as if he was part of the room. He didn’t make any noise while moving, even while punching bags, it was quite inhuman. His fingers got covered in Benkeinium and he plunged them through the robot with the same ease a regular human would have to pierce thin fabric with a knife. His muscles tensed up as he curled the robot, contorting its limbs until the whole thing was small enough to fit through the window. Riku chucked it as strong as he could. A lighting blast, one of many that arched out from the storm clouds surrounding the prison, hit it and then another, turning it into charred remains. -Done, now shut up, some of us are actually training, not mindlessly punching the equipment until breaking it.- He never was the most friendly person, but after the events in the swamps of Russia and his training with Ikari, Riku had become almost unapproachable. He turned around and returned to the punching bag, slowly and methodically performing a series of punches as slowly as he could, trying to improve his stance, sharpening his skills.

Arthur got the feeling he interrupted something when he landed, but he had no idea what. Couldn't have been that important anyway since the Shishioh siblings took the group into the ramshackle tower right away.
Arthur took the moment of quiet to approach Haruko. "Hey, Ruko! How you doin'?" He hugged the seamstress. "Anything important happen while I wasn't around?"
While he and Haruko talked, they were rudely interrupted by the man who embodied the concept of loud. He introduced himself as Goemon Williams, a name which sounded vaguely familiar to Arthur, but he couldn't place it. Then the man listed a bunch of movies he starred in and it suddenly clicked.
"Wait, Hellkicker 3? That was you!? I never would've recognized you without all the mak-! Er, anyway, me and my daughters marathoned the whole franchise when the last movie came out. I have to say, I thought Hellkicker 3 was much better than Hellkicker 2. Although the first one is still the best one in my opinion. I heard there was a reboot in the works, called Hellkickers? Is that true? Oh, before I forget, can I get an autograph? To Arthur Cromwell. No, make it to the Cromwells." Arthur pulled out a notepad and pen out of thin air and held them out towards Goemon.

The ex-paladin couldn’t avoid notice that his boss was younger, a half considering his aspect but he truly was someone with a great power, he could tell. He shook his hand with enthusiasm. He observed the rest of the team, a well-dressed man… He wanted to look like that! More professional and not like… a douchebag! The wife-beater wasn’t his style at all and even Lucille refused to give him a jacket! He should have taken one before the mission. There was a woman too; he remembered her face from the hidden world’s gossip. So she was the daughter of the Musashi family, knew from being hunters and warriors.
He was going to introduce himself to the other two, until he noticed Callis’s eyes, he knew that look thanks to his long life spawn. He followed his boss's glance and ended noticing a small girl by his side, with green hair and a particular smell, it was the smell of forest and nature. Vladimir positioned himself in front of Cadence something told him that most of the people reunited there already knew each other. From what he could tell, the girl wasn’t lying.
Mr. Nomene… – Vladimir’s voice was firm, his eyes looking directly at the beast’s eyes. His body didn’t do anything except cross his arms. He felt that his body was heavier but didn’t care and a little voice told him to don’t speak up against his boss but he felt he needed to do the right thing – She said she is on our side…
The ex-paladin turned towards Cadence, to face her – Miss, if you could explain why you decided to help us… and why Mr. Nomene wants to kill you – He glanced at Callis, like a parent scolding their children – Maybe we can understand each other… Oh! I apologize for not introducing myself – He extended his hand, trying to greet the girl. His face lost his previous serious glance and now had a nervous smile on it – Vladimir Kearney, ex-paladin
The man inmediatly turned towards the beast knight again, this time he bowed in apology - I'm deeply sorry! But it's not the right time to be attacking each other! - The man had a nervous expression in his face, making his wrinkles to stand a little more, Vladimir didn't want to sound arrogant, neither to be mean... But how he'll be able to tell that he was around 400 years old at the point to notice the intention of the girl? At least... she didn't seem dangerous by the moment...

Akane stepped up front, just enough to serve for Callis as a shield. she was not amused by the Ex paladin's reaction, it was obvious he wasn't used to having a direct superior, he had the type of arrogance that came with age, or at least, that was how it looked to her when he completely acted on his own. she unsheathed her blade as a precaution while she spoke.
"Aren't you being too gullible Mr. Vladimir? you should never take at face value what someone says, especially when this is clearly not the person we were expecting"
Musashi did not take a combat stance, but she was entirely focused on the green girl, Vladimir was too close to her, if she took him as a hostage it would put everyone in danger. Akane lowered her blade but did not sheathe it back as she spoke.
"Sorry for my rudeness, I'm sure you understand us being cautious as you are not the agent we were expecting. My captain's reaction says it all, it's easier if you identify yourself for us all. My name is Akane Musashi, pleased to meet you."
Akane gave her name first out of courtesy, still not reading any ill intent from her body language, but she knew that could change in a fraction of a second, so, until Callis gave them green light, she was to be treated with caution.
Deeper into the prison, the Raian moved towards a particularly interesting energy source, it exuded heat, yet it wasn't like regular body heat, consuming the source would be exactly what he needed to regain his strength, the pressure of his steps dented the floor as he moved faster and faster becoming a blur of sorts.
Shirokumo was filled with special cattle, but the orders were not to consume them, apparently, there was a front that they had to keep. The collector was starving, sunlight would be enough for most Raians, but not for Z, he was far larger than most individuals of his species, he required real food.
*3 signatures...they are...not human?...no matter...they will suffice*
Z kicked straight through the door, bursting in as he entered the room where Yuu, Marika, and Miles were.
"Do not resist, cattle, I will consume...consume you all..."- his red eyes stared into Marika, they were lifeless, more akin to a machine than an animal. A death aura surrounded the creature, most animals would flee out of instinct, as they do whenever they encountered a super predator.

Cadence stared at Callis as he drew his swords at her, letting out a small sigh that exhaled a small amount of white sweet-smelling smoke from her mouth. She anticipated this response, so she made sure to stand outside his sword's reach. The sheer amount of killing intent should have intimidated her a little bit, but the combination of her lax personality and the smoke she inhales that numbs her mind and nervous system made Cadence virtually numb to his unspoken threats. Strangely...his swords appeared different from the ones she saw at the ogre stronghold. She cocked her head slightly to the right when Vladimir stepped between the two, putting himself directly in range of Callis.
She stared forward as he spoke to Callis, reaching up and shaking his hand when he offered it. Before she could respond though, Akane stepped in and gave her own thoughts on the matter. Huh...so this one is smart... Cadence thought to herself. Despite the tense situation, Cadence remained completely calm. "...my name is Cadence...no last name..." She stated, having chosen to drop the 'Arachne' surname when she was freed and not seeing the point in giving herself another. "...pleasure to meet you all..." She said, not meaning it, but knowing that this is polite by human customs. "...I met Callis years ago...on top of a mountain. I was...enslaved, at the time." She noted, bringing her pipe up and inhaling more of the smoke. "We...never directly fought. Myself and a few...others were forced to get ogre parts, and he was hired to defend them..." She stated, thinking back to that snowy day and how she needed 2 heated coats to stay warm. "...long story short...I escaped that night on my own...freed myself...and now I offer my assistance in this regard." She said, looking straight at Callis, then Akane, then Vladimir.
"...while I appreciate the assistance...she is correct...you shouldn't trust people at face value." Cadence said, turning back to Callis. "...I don't mean you harm...but if you seek to attack me...I will defend myself..." Cadence stated, making a small portion of the wooden platform grow a tiny vine that soon grew a small wooden stool that Cadence sat herself on. The purpose of the stool was two fold; if Callis decided to attack her, it was a base that Cadence could grow plants out of to create a shield for herself and rapidly move away...and standing up for an extended length of time was tiring.

Mere seconds after Haruko arrived, Dan walked onto the scene wearing the new gear her friend Leone had made for him. Haruko gave a small wave toward the fighter, before her attention was grabbed by Rin. “Of course, Rin! I will help any way I can.” She said, when Rin was promptly pulled away by Gen. “They are so active…” Haruko said, chuckling slightly at how close the two siblings seemed to be now. It felt like just yesterday that she was helping Rin save her brother from a mad scientist in Osaka. Aria was not happy to hear she was involved with that one.
Haruko turned to see Arthur in time to accept the hug from him, releasing and looking at the ice mage. “Hm...not much! Cosmina and Kate are doing good, Kate is starting to tinker with some old cars I bought her from the junkyard. She seems to really like it!” Haruko stated, then hearing Goemon address them. The movies sounded familiar...while Haruko tried to keep up with pop culture, the combination of raising both Kate and Cosmina and working her job left little time for watching many movies. Luckily, Cosmina had sat them down to watch one of the movies he mentioned.
“Pleasure to meet you, Goemon! My name is Haruko Miyata, you might have heard of me though my clothing line. I’m kind of a big deal.” Haruko smirked, tossing one of her bangs back behind her head dramatically, then laughing. “Not really. I have heard of your movies though. One of my daughters showed me Ninja Vampires from Outer Space, and I thought it was good! I loved it when that one vampire gained the ability to walk in sunlight...so you kicked him into the sun!” She said, the scene being the first that popped into her head. Arthur luckily seemed to be more of a fan, and could carry the conversation.
---
Miles briefly shot Yuu a glare when he saw she didn’t pack him anything, but then smiled. “Oh, it’s fine Yuu. I know you must be getting dementia in your old age, so I grabbed one of these from the kitchen on the way here.” He reached into his pocket and took out 2 blueberry granola bars. Before he could say more though, the doors to the room were kicked open and a strange figure appeared before them. Miles immediately reached into his coat pocket and pulled out a strange knife that vaguely seemed like a cross between a scissor blade and a knife.
“You will be consuming nothing! We work for the owner of this place, so I suggest you get the hell back before I send you away myself!” Miles threatened, a pair of black bat-like wings expanding out of his back. He would kill anyone who would dare threaten Marika! Kuro-san had told them about a person who might try this...so mentioning the boss’s name was the only option before Miles would attack this freak of nature.

Stephan’s eyes widened. He just got here and already there was group conflict! And over somebody sent by the HWIC! He thought he recognized her too, but he wasn’t sure where he had seen her. When her name was revealed, he breathed a sigh of relief. There was something he could indeed do here. “I can vouch for her. All of Cadence’s criminal activities were done under category C mind control, where the victim has full control under ordinary circumstances but is compelled to obey direct orders.” He flipped through a mental case file. “Cadence has been qualified as clear of all mind control by HWIC’s top examiners and has a clean slate mentally and legally. It is a pleasure to work with you, Miss. Cadence.” He offered his hand after offering his information. Hopefully this would cut the lit fuze in the group.
Dan’s face fell at Gen’s response. He didn’t remember! He forgot him again somehow! Dan got a wave of vertigo. How could one man be so stupid? Or was it that Dan was unmemorable!? That was worse! He looked to where Rin and Gen were talking and unconsciously picked up on scattered words whenever the wind happened to blow them over. Rin said something about Osaka, Gen mumbling something even quieter in response. Dan was ready to let it go when Gen said something about being “into him”. Dan nearly left the ground with his startled motion.
What? Was that what this was all about? It all clicked in an instant. Gen was awkward because he had a crush on Dan. Dan hid his face as much as he could with his helmet. This was so much worse! Being ignored was something he at least had experience with. Nobody, as far as he could tell, had ever had a crush on him. How do you let somebody down gently? His thoughts were shifted away from these things by the tower coming into view. “Oh come on, really…?” He muttered under his breath. He really hated the looks of that thing. When Goemon asked if he was cool, he just blinked at the strange man, the only person here even larger than himself. “Huh? Uh, sure.” He really wasn’t sure what cool meant in this particular context, but he doubted he met any of the diverse criteria possible.
Yuu had been outplayed this time. She was scrambling for a response when the monster smashed its way into the room. She got the impression of a plague doctor from its flowing robes and bone mask. She was reminded of Cadence’s abomination, looming large over their campfire. This wasn’t the same. That was unrefined, coarse. This was leaner, carved into the shape of a predator. Everything about its aura spoke to this, making her hair stand on end. Her hand was on her sword before Miles told it to stand down. Kuro had mentioned something like this, right! His descriptions didn’t do it justice.
Yuu held a hand out towards Marika. “It’s okay, Marika. We’ve got this handled.” She spoke softly. Marika looked incredulous but went back to work. “Ah, Z, I believe Kuro-san called you. I’m afraid that we have no food here you could eat besides these granola bars. However, if you are patient, I could make you a meal in the kitchen.” She gently smiled, even as her skin crawled. He read as a big dumb brute with how he entered the room, and she could handle that to an extent. Martha was about as dumb as they came. But there was something predatory and volatile in him. One wrong step and he might just forget about Kuro’s orders.
Martha couldn’t hide an impressed look when Riku compressed the robot and threw it out the window. Jane was even more enthralled, eyes wide at this show of strength. Martha watched it vanish with a broad grin, but her expression soured when Riku talked. “Hey! Fighting robots is real training! It’s better than your dumb bag that doesn’t even punch back!” She crossed her arms and glared. “Martha, Riku, don’t fight!” Jane called from her fortress of water balloons. Martha’s expression softened at her sister’s plea. “Fine… but he totally deserves a whooping!” Martha jumped and delivered a thundering kick to a punching bag to punctuate the thought.

Callis looked around him, seeing the faces of the members in his group. He knew he could trust Akane, but the others were an unknown quantity. Last time he got involved with the HWIC he was scarred for life. Vladimir seemed like a nice enough guy, but Callis didn’t know him. The Beast Knight’s mind raced, weighing the different options he had. He looked at Cadence as he lowered one of his weapons, placing it back on the holster, his now free hand slowly reached for his pendant, grasping it and feeling the warmth around it. Golden light flooded Callis’ eyes as he released his grip, his fingers shared the same glow as they moved, leaving a faint after image. His mouth opened, but instead of his voice, they could hear a chorus of individuals chanting.
VERITAS
Callis opened his hand and a semi-transparent golden shockwave exploded from his fingers, moving through the group. It felt like a warm breeze, pretty nice considering their current altitude and unprotected location. The Beast Knight scanned around him, looking at each member of the team directly on their eyes. Finally, he lowered his second weapon, putting it back on the holster on the back of his waist. -For the moment I believe you… But... -He glared at her with a dangerous glimmer on his pale blue eyes. -If you betray us I will bring you down.- Callis lowered his head and sighed, trying to break the tension on his whole body and finally, extended his hands towards Cadence. -Let me introduce myself again, my name is Callis Nomene and I will be the team leader for this mission, pleasure to meet you.-
Once the courtesies were over the Beast Knight walked towards the large metal container covered in Omnyo Charms. -You have all been recruited to help with a prisoner transfer, yet this is not the full extent of the mission.- Callis pointed at the prison. -We are also tasked to do a surprise inspection on the prison premises and inform the JHWAB of anything out of place or not working properly.- The Beast Knight hoped that the extended boardwalk floating in the middle of nowhere was far enough from the main administrative building to avoid getting heard. -For the meantime follow my lead and keep your eyes open.- Callis advanced and the metal box with the inmate floated behind him. He turned around for a second. -If you have any questions now is the time to ask them.-
Gen walked in front of the group until they arrived at the tower. He knocked twice against the massive rusted steel door and a loud buzzer echoed inside as the door slid open revealing a large makeshift interior, made of old steel beams, metallic plates and other metallic junk, parts of an old WWII plane and a school bus were part of the messy architecture. Those with an eye for the mystical would notice that magical energy ran all over the place, through hidden cables and runic patterns welded to the walls and ceiling. In the middle of the tower, there was a massive spherical cage with several seats inside. Underneath it, there was a magical circle made out of half frayed copper cables. Anybody with a cursory understanding of magic might get a general idea, as symbols usually associated with fire, wind, and force were surrounding a complex yet improvised mystical formation. Rin leaned against a wall for a second, until she quickly changed spots as behind here some sharp edges had been pricking the back of his armor, she was dressed in fighting gear, similar to a kendo armor, but lighter and way more sturdier, lacking a helmet, it was like a sport gear version of a samurai armor.
Goemon kept talking with Arthur about his movies during the walk. Signing his headshots (He carries a pile inside his gi) to every member of the Cromwell household. -And this is Loveline, and this is Hazel, and this one for you.- He said while signing every photo with lightning fast speed and very nice calligraphy, adding a small star at the end of the autograph.
Gen looked at the assembled group. -Ya might ask yerself why the fuck did Gen call all of us to the fuckin’ boonies?- He started talking as he paced. -I’m not good at speeches so I’ll go straight to the fuckin’ point.- Gen walked to the wall and pressed a button hanging from a cable. A spark climbed up towards the ceiling, far over them and a cracking sound preceded the top of the tower opening up, revealing the cloudy sky. -We’re goin’ to get into that fuckin’ thing.- He pointed at the sphere. -And we’re gonna be shot upwards to the sky with fuckin’ magic.- Gen pointed up. -So we can get into the most fuckin’ secure buildin’ in all of fuckin’ Japan to find my master and ask him about some bad shit happenin’ down here.- He went silent for a second and then turned around opening the spherical cage. -Hop on and let’s fuckin’ go.- Once again a small period of silence preceded a loud noise, as Rin slapped her forehead with enough force for the echo to bounce around the building.
-Gen, shouldn’t you at the very least tell them why are we doing this? Or let them ask questions?- The Hot-Blooded Brawler looked at his sister for a moment and finally tilted his neck to the side. -Hm… I think yer right.- He turned to the others. -Well, ask me anythin’ before we get blasted to the sky and storm a fuckin’ floatin’ castle.-
As this tense situation was unfolding a new player entered the fray, as through the large door of the main lab, Ikari Fukushi walked in. He stopped observing the situation and popped his neck. -I despise aliens, they vex me.- He spews the words through gritted teeth, barely containing his desire to punch Z. -I came here to pick you up.- He pointed at Yuu. -We’ve incoming and you’re going to help me in the defense if we happen to need it.- The Agent of Hatred made a pause, glaring at Z. -And you, pathetic excuse for a vampire, get your ass out of here before you learn what happens to people who vexes me.- He turned around walking towards the door. -And when I say you’re leaving I mean with me, you’re also going to help if we need to.- Ikari mockingly clapped his hands to hurry them up. -C'mon children, don't make uncle Ikari wait, he hates waiting.-
Riku’s rhythmic punching stopped as Martha expressed her opinion. -I heard that.- He said, glaring at her. Clearly, his demeanor had been greatly affected by training under Ikari. Riku walked towards Martha, standing up right in front of her, his red eyes locked on to hers. -Do you have any problem, you pathetic excuse for a fighter?- He asked, with the same tone and poise as Ikari would use. He wasn’t as intimidating, but nobody can match the Avatar of Hatred. Still, the killing intent oozed out of him, thick as honey and painful as a hundred of bee stings. -Do you want to go right now?- He asked angrily. -You’re the same kind of crap I just threw out the window, and I’ll do the same to you.- He wasn’t backing down, maybe he was antsy after being inside Shirokumo for months, only training.
The figure in black armor crashed through the clouds around the Prison and opened a parachute that broke his fall. The whole armor and the chute were cloaked, avoiding any curious eyes from focusing on him. He landed on the opposite side to the current location of Callis team. Entering through a window to the minimum security ward of the Prison. He knew things might get dangerous, but he was confident he could make it through.

Akane slightly bowed before Cadence as Callis finished introducing himself, there was no need for a second greeting in her opinion, and handshakes were just a western thing. She then focused her attention on Callis' briefing.
Musashi looked at the container with some curiosity, it was obvious this criminal wasn't just some run of the mill thug.
"The prisoner, who are we transferring?" She said as she tapped the container. Learning about the subject was important, Akane wanted to know as much as she could about the mission before it began.
Miles threat went unregistered by the Raian, if he could laugh, he would have, but he stopped nonetheless as Kuro was mentioned. He relaxed and tilted his head when Yuu said she would make something for him, not because he thought he would eat, but rather because the concept of cooking had no meaning to him.
"Disappointing, let me know when I can consume you"
As he turned around to leave, Ikari arrived, he looked at him for a second and then paid no mind to him at all. It was only after he threatened him that the alien went out of his way to stand right in his face as he spoke.
"I recognize you...you are...Kuro's favorite pet?"- Ikari might not know, but a Raian recognizing a human was quite an achievement, only exceptional humans would make a long-lasting impression on him. The Raian moved past him, not caring enough about his threat, but he stopped for a second in order to set him straight.
"Do not compare me with vermin, Vampires are also my food, everything on this planet is. As for the task...I will join, not because of your empty threat, domesticated animal, but because my objective is there as well"
Z straightened his jacket, clearly made out of an animal foreign to this world. his metallic body sounded heavy with each step he gave, not just because of his constitution, but also due to the sheer amount of weapons he was carrying. None of his words had actual malice to them, Ikari's anger was unregistered by him as well, even after half a century on earth, it was difficult for The collector to understand emotions.

"Thanks. The girls will love these!" Arthur placed the photos in his Freezer where they would be safe for the duration of whatever mission Gen had in store for them. The perilousness of the mission probably equaled the peril they found themselves in just standing in the collection of metal junk that appeared haphazardly strewn about in the form of a tower. Arthur got the feeling the only reason this building was still standing was all the magical energy flowing through every bit and bob, like a magic electrical grid made of runes and actual cables for some reason. Arthur's magic never required physical cables to move as he wanted it to, so he did find their use intriguing. If cables could be used a replacement for runic magic or an enhancement for it, he could potentially make his personalized gadgets a lot more efficient.
Going back on topic, Gen explained the reason he wanted them all here and Arthur smirked. "So you want us inside a secure building to rescue your master? Heh, don't worry, that's all I really need to know. Sounds fun enough. Actually, no! I've got a question! You sure this tower isn't gonna just collapse as soon as it uses up its magic to launch the sphere? How are we supposed to get out again? The front door? Not that I'm complaining."

Staring at Stephen’s hands for a few seconds, Cadence reached her arm out and shook the agent’s hand. Her grip was noticeably weaker than one would expect. It was fortunate that the HWIC didn’t send someone who had more extensive knowledge on herself. The less information she couldn’t control the spread of, the better. When they broke the handshake, Cadence carefully observed the strange actions Callis performed. The strange choir-like voices and golden energy was certainly new...did he somehow gain divine energy?
His threat was met with a small shrug from Cadence. “...I have no plans to...but nice to meet you…” She stated. Cadence hated dealing with people on-edge like Callis. Her interest was piqued again when he mentioned the other mission. “Surprise inspection...huh...I sense a lack of trust…” She observed. If Marika was truly in this...Shirokumo, then this secondary task would yield the highest possibility of finding her. Cadence pressed her pipe to her lips thoughtfully as she processed the information.
“...on what grounds are we doing this surprise...inspection…? There must be a reason…” The plant doll asked. This question was to see how much Callis knew about the organization he worked for.
---
Haruko entered the strange room, her eyes widening when she saw the strange runes scattered about the room. This was setting off all kinds of alarms in her head. Where did all this come from?! Who built this thing?! Is it safe?! Gen’s explanation did little to assuage her fears about the stability of this...device.
“Erm...yes. I do have some questions. You said you were going to ask your master some questions...so is this a visitation mission or a rescue mission? Second; are you sure this thing is...safe?” She asked, looking at the strange device. Gen didn’t seem like an engineer, and neither did Rin. Who built this thing for such a specific purpose? “And third...to go off Frosty’s question; do we have an exit strategy? I don’t think we’ll be able to erm...exit the way we came.” She said, knowing that neither Gen or Rin could fly. Just what were they getting into?! Arthur’s confidence wasn’t helping matters! This was a major violation of international law!
---
Yuu’s conciliatory tone was utterly useless, and Miles knew it. A freak like this probably didn’t even eat human food. That doll continued to prove how stupid she was. Luckily, the vampire seemed to lose interest when he mentioned Kuro-san’s name...Miles letting out a small sigh and retracting his wings. The tiny slits in his shirt and coat Marika had made had proven useful once again.
Fortunate still, Ikari showed up to take both Yuu and the freakish vampire (hopefully) far away from them. Miles gave a polite smile to Yuu and waved at her toward the door. “Well you heard the man, have fun with your new friends. I’ll stay here and keep Marika company, I am sure you would approve.” He said, loving the prospect of Yuu leaving them alone for a while. Marika and him couldn’t talk much while she was working on the monster doll...but it was still a win in Miles’s book.
Walking over to the wall, Miles opened up a small suitcase and pulled out a semicircle of a strange green fabric that looked like some kind of lizard hide. He took out a needle from the case and began to sew on more hexagons onto the half-made ball. He would give Marika a wave if she looked up at him, Miles at work making this dumb soccer ball that even Martha couldn’t pop. Why was that stupid doll so rough with everything?!

The weak grip and cold fingers of Cadence made Stephan feel like he was shaking a dead octopus. He listened to Callis with surprise. So this was why they let the HWIC in on this. This was big for everybody. He shuddered at the thought of something going wrong in the HWIC’s own prison. The Mariana Prison, a reference to its depth, was a massive underground complex with each successive floor deeper holding more dangerous criminals. Stephan shuddered at the thought of anything in the deeper floors getting loose.
“Understood, sir.” Stephan straightened his tie. Some of his veins went visibly green as the Nucleus prepared to emerge. “I’m curious about both of those as well. Is this prisoner one that the HWIC would recognize?” He could think of a few people Aria would be pleased to hear were off the streets. Huntsman, Vega Wilde, Joseph Dawnguard. He peered at the container, searching for holes. It wasn’t the most humane method of transport.
Dan was tempted to touch everything in the room, making him quickly decide that touching nothing was the best option. He folded his arms to contain his hands and leaned on the only bare spot on the wall. As Gen spoke, it slowly dawned on him that this kept happening. “We’re breaking into… a prison?” He had been in prison. He knew firsthand how secure they were. This was nuts. He couldn’t stop the grin spreading across his face, even as his heart pounded in apprehension. Every time he helped his friends, he caused so much carnage.
Dan wasn’t aware of just what he had brought upon the world after the event on Sakurajima island, but he knew enough to regret it every day. What worse could he be doing here? He fixated on Gen, on his words. He felt like he was submerged in rapids, everything flowing past too quickly to catch anything meaningful. He sighed and stepped into the cage. “I have no questions. All I know is that a friend needs help.” He raised a hand to put on Gen’s shoulder and awkwardly dropped it without following through. He couldn’t do that even with his really close friends. Despite the awkward gesture, he felt right. This was what he should be doing, surely.
Yuu watched the tension between Z and Ikari with apprehension. She had only realized it after the fact, but she had been on the receiving end of Ikari’s wrath before. His unrestrained power could kill Marika, even as far as she was. She detensed when Z broke away. She kept a careful eye on the both of them as she left the room, a thought dawning as they got further away from her child. “You’re no pet.” She said to Ikari, slyly looking back at Z. “Will you really let him treat you like one?” She edged slowly away, just in case Ikari took the bait and attacked Z.
“Riku, no!” Jane yelled, but Martha was receptive to the challenge. “Yeah, I do have a problem! You used to be cool! You saved Jane, you punched zombies with us! I always thought you were kind of up your own ass, but now you’re just entirely ass!” Martha’s eyes were like glass, cutting right through Riku’s killing intent to see whatever still might lay beneath. “I’M what you threw out the window!? You literally turned yourself into a robot!” Martha’s leg snapped out when Riku threatened to throw her out the window. Jane yelled when the shockwave from Martha breaking the sound barrier reached her, just a second after Martha’s foot would meet Riku’s ribs.

I didn’t say I trust her, what I said it’s better to talk when it’s posible before taking action. We don’t know the possibilities… expecting the worse wouldn’t do any good either – The ex-palading answered to both Cadence and Akane as he shrugged, his expression wasn’t serious compared to when he first confronted his superior.
Mr. Nomene, I apologize for my rudeness but since I lack information in all of my coworkers… well, since we cannot have tea I tried my best to try to know all of you a little better in a peaceful way – He chuckled nervously, it was true that the lack of information in both place and people was bothering him a little, but he’ll do his best in order to fulfill his mission since Lucille managed to inform him on the Sillything “brothers”. However he couldn’t avoid notice the strange magic that came out from the half beast, he found it pretty peculiar almost as he could recognize the type of magic that he casted…
It was a strange fusion of modern and ancient magic. He should keep an eye on him, it was strange Lucille didn’t say a word about him… knowing her voracity for information and details about most of creatures.
His turquoise eyes gazed at the container, what a strange and modern method to transport criminals; however the little chat with the angel the previous day made him very aware that something could be happening inside of the place.
Mr. Nomene… How many criminals are transported each time the Prison is near the floor? I have the feeling they must be expecting us… And If I consider the fact that we need to perform a hidden investigation that means the place hasn’t been working properly, right? – He scratched the back of his neck with a worried expression as he looked at everyone – We should be ready, once we enter the place I’m pretty sure the security would try to stop us – His gaze began serious again, if he had a map he could have performed a way to avoid most of the security in the Prison in case they were attacked or even teleport all of them to a less crowded area.
However, with the times tell he’ll figure out what to do. Now it was time to have gather information and answers, before making moves. He noticed again the strange weight on his waist. He looked to check what it was until he noticed both weapons and book where visible; he did his best to prevent his own face turning red of embarrassment. With a quick move of his hand the three objects he carried were now small almost like toys and he put them in the pockets of the multipurpose belt. He didn’t cared a lot for his own spare, but the book and sword were really important.

Callis started replying their questions in order. -The prisoner we are transferring is called Hikari Tenkaito.- The Beast Knight gave Akane a Dossier
Full name: Hiraki Tenkaito Ethnicity: Asian Age: 27 Weight: 76 KG/ 167 LBS – 101 KG/ 222 LBS Height: 164 CM / 5’ 3” – 197 CM / 6’ 4” Hair: Black Eyes: Brown - Red Analysis: Wounded by a curse
-This man is incredibly dangerous as a powerful curse has been placed over him.- The Dossier included several Omnyo Scriptures. One of them, reading “Witness” was swiped by Callis and an image floated off the paper, showing a mundane looking man turning into a monster of muscle, rage, and sinew. -We are bringing him here so the Research Wing of the prison can investigate how to undo the curse.- The Beast Knight then turned towards Cadence. He contained a grimace and proceeded to talk to her. -I am not privy to that information, but the leader of the Bureau has reliable intel of foul play.- Callis continued as he paced from side to side. -The most I know is that something is not quite right with this place.- The Exiled Knight then turned towards Stephan passing him the dossier. -I do not know if the HWIC will know him, most of his criminal activities while under the effect of the curse happened on Japan.- Finally, he decided to answer to Vladimir’s inquiries. -Thank you for your candor Mes Kearney.- Callis politely bowed. -This prison connects with the material world for 1 week each year and the entry can potentially be forced by Tengu if needed.-
-Usually each year the JHWAB used this week for prisoner transfer, while the rest of the year the prison is self-sufficient and self-governing.- The Beast Knight passed the dossier to Vladimir with the rest of the info and the map of the complex. -We don’t know if the full prison is taken over or if just a segment is under control of forces external to the bureau, either way you are quite right about being prepared, you are a man of wisdom Mes Kearney.- He talked to everybody. -We should be careful, keep your eyes open and let us move as a single unit, we do not know what is expecting us.- Callis advanced with the Steel Box floating behind him. They were standing on a long wooden pier floating in the air, coming out from the ceiling of one of the side towers of the prison. The Beast Knight reached a door and knocked it gently. -Excuse me, we come with a new prisoner.- For a moment there was only silence, but soon the door slid open revealing a young woman dressed in a very elegant purple kimono with a silver spider-web design. She had silver hair and shiny red eyes, 3 pairs of shiny eyes. Her head was slightly elongated and her hands had very faint insectoid features.
-Welcome dear guests, is such an honor that you come to visit us with such a gift.- She smiled, her head tilting to the side as the back of her hand covered her mouth while she let out a very courtly and educated chuckle. -I’m Ginkumo and I’ll be your guide today, we’re expecting you.- She moved away from the doorway and gestured them in. -Please come in, we need to fill up some paper work.- Callis went through the doorway, his senses maxed out picking everything around him. The creaking of the wood under his feet, the smell of varnish on the walls, the rows of lanterns that seemed to float mid-air but actually were hanging from very thin and almost invisible threads. -Please, follow me, I’ll take you to the admissions office.- She added while walking at a very slow pace, with an impeccable Heian era-style stride. The long wooden hallway stretched for a while, with several paper doors on each side. -Let us follow our guide.- Callis said to the others while giving them a meaningful look, reminding them to stay alert.
As Marika kept working on her project another individual walked into the lab, scribbling frantically in a book as she moved closer. Once she got close enough to the Spider Seamstress, she stopped writing and proclaim. -Look at this pile of garbage, clearly the work of a sub-par artist.- Sakka Jaakuma laughed at her own joke. -No style, no love, no passion, just limbs without any kind of direction… quite disappointing.- The Demented Writer paced around the project as if she was in an art gallery, judging the work of others. -At least this time you’re thinking bigger, not like your other projects, most of them disappointing and boring.- Sakka smiled. -But most important darling… all your work is so…- She turned her face away, looking down on Marika and feigning disgust. -Derivative.- The Demented Writer glanced at Miles and chuckled. -Most of your work would better be suited in the golem making equivalent of Watpadd, among other shitty and sad revenge fics.- Sakka was actually pretty pissed, considering how Marika took over this project was going to bring to life, so she was going to taunt and provoke Marika until she does something stupid.
Riku didn’t hesitate and as the kick came directly towards him, he snapped into action. The Benkeinium on his system pooled towards his right elbow and his left fist. The Iron Clad Boxer dropped his elbow directly into the path of the kick, aiming to parry the blow while doing a text-book karate approach advancing and allowing the kick-back of the parry to be transferred to a frontal Seiken. Ikari had been teaching Riku the basics to Karate and the Vengeful Boxer absorbed the knowledge like a sponge, adding it to his own counter-centric style. He didn’t hate Martha, he actually didn’t feel much of anything lately, incapable of drawing power from hatred as his master did. Riku was mostly wondering how strong he became and Martha was the logical choice to use as a measuring stick. His punch wasn’t as fast as her kick, but he was almost reaching Mach 1. His knuckles were covered in Benkeinium, ready to crack her nose open.
Gen leaned against the spherical cage and sighed. -Okay, I’ll reply to yer questions.- He listened to Arthur inquiry and nodded. -Yeah, this tower is built for a single fuckin’ shot and then it’ll vanish, to avoid suspicion.- He scratched the back of his head and yawned. -And ‘bout the exit strategy, I already have somethin’ in mind, so don’t ya worry Frosty.- Gen turned to Haruko. -Knife-chan, if we can get him out we’ll do it, if not is just gettin’ the info and gettin’ the fuck out of doge, I have a fuckin’ plan for that like I told Frosty.- Goemon and Dan didn’t have any questions. -So let’s get the fuck in the sphere and get to the fuckin’ thing already.- The Hot-Blooded Boxer opened the door of the cage and sat down, putting the safety belt. -What’re ya waitin’ for? An invitation?- Rin sighed, shaking her head with already accepted frustration and entered the sphere. Goemon followed her, having issues to find a proper seat. -This place reminds of the set of my movie Crazy Carl, we filmed on the Australian Outback, I got lost and ended up being inducted into a native tribe for 3 months.-
Ikari didn’t even reply to Z’s taunting or Yuu’s attempts to pitch both him and the alien against each other. He was lost to his thoughts, remembering how much had Callis Nomene vexed him. He could’ve killed that arrogant son of a bitch if he wanted, but Kuro-san ordered him not to. The mere thought of that idiot walking around nearby him made his blood boil. Without even realizing it a faint aura of hatred flames surrounded him, he even left flaming footprints behind him. The Knight of Hatred was fuming as he guided the others towards the training room to pick up more troops. -I don’t care how he treats me if he does his job and doesn’t cause me trouble I won’t kill him.- Almost frantic he turned around, stopping dead on his tracks pointing at Z. -You know I can squash you like an ant alien boy, do you?- He turned around again and kept walking. Something was off with Ikari, he almost looked taller than usual. The trio was getting close to the gym and the sounds of battle inside it were now audible. -What the fuck is happening now!?- He said, clearly frustrated beyond his limits, almost ready to blow, as he increased his pace towards the gym.

"A Curse...poor soul" She read up on the dossier, apparently he bulked up greatly when he transformed, how they managed to get his measures as a monster was interesting, maybe they treated him a lot rougher than expected, even though it wasn't really his fault, her mind immediately went back to those people who got killed and cursed by the blade of blades.
Akane followed Callis, the greeting done by the monster made her uncomfortable, bugs just creeped her out to no end. The facility began to get a whole different tonality as they entered, Shirokumo was...eerie, to say the least, the idea of an external force taking over such a fortress was disturbing, not only because it was incredibly difficult to access, but also because it was packed full of dangerous criminals...if someone were to free that living nightmare she fought against some months ago...Musashi just hoped for the best.
The Alien walked past the flaming prints, the fire seemingly going through him, it was almost as if he had stepped on a hologram. He knelt for a second, looking at the purple flames with curiosity as they went through his foot. still knelt, he saw as Ikari turned around to threaten him, the Raian was confused, perhaps he had hurt his feelings? or maybe...
"Is this the so-called humor humans have? Attacking me will only get you killed, Ikari. And that would end up being a fruitless task for me considering your nutritional value is null, do not make me waste energy."
The Raian turned his attention back to the flame as he set his hand over it, going back and forth across it, he opened his palm, trying to drain the flames, but nothing happened.
"This...Gainen energy, I do not get it at all"- he said as he finally got up, inside his coat a myriad of weapons and artifacts could be seen for a brief moment before he decided to get back in the formation.
The sounds of battle nearby not only pissed Ikari off, the Raian also began to slightly shake, tensing up his entire body, it was almost as if he had to attack any living form he came across. At that moment Z was in fact, fighting against his own instincts, stopping himself from rushing straight towards their location, if the beings there were fair game, Ikari would let him know, that was his only purpose.
