Alex takes a short break from his work on the traps to watch Eve go off into the distance without responding to Garo's question at first. Long after Eve had disappeared from their sight does Alex finally answers Garo in his typical voice, which means his demonic vocal chords are going to be heard, "Do what you can do." Though his words are few and his tone sounded like a voice that could create nightmares for most grown men, to the man hunch over his precious traps, he thinks that he had clearly told the old archer that he can help him with the trap and layouts to the best of his ability. He was even willing to listen to suggestions of where to place the traps if Garo could spot an ideal trap location. As he continues to work on his traps, the heavy raindrops from the sky above begin to land on his super thine wire threads and get slice perfectly along the surface area of where the wire threads met the falling liquid that had landed on it. As he notices these minor details of the rain being slice apart, he had an odd thought that even if it was raining iron and steel the result would be exactly the same as the water droplets.

-Oh shit!- Falken exclaimed as the giant fangs moved towards him, planning to crush him between the massive sharp teeth. The Mercenary shifted the Tendo Versatile Weapon into Kunai mode and as he slid he used his free hand to force his body to spin, with his waist as axis. Falken’s intent was to slash the talons that enclosed him before they managed to lock him in a position where the mouth could get him. In a single movement the Falcon Eye Killer turned into a whirlwind of slashes, while keeping a free hand ready to summon stronger fire power if his plan failed. -I'm going to kick your ass back to the Carpenter's nightmare it came from!-
Velvela followed Ariana. –Miss please stop running I don’t want to hurt you.- Velvela spoke as calmly and warmly as possible, with all her weapons holstered. She couldn’t understand a lot of what was happening, yet she still considered Ariana as somebody she should protect. The Super Soldier Student promises herself long time ago that she wouldn’t injure or harm people younger than her; it seemed wrong after seeing that so much when she was young. She didn’t know it but her own past had a lot of similarities than his current Mentor.
-If we are dealing with Byakko we need to treat him at the most basic level like hunting any other Hidden World feline.- Garo spoke with certain authority in the topic. –You should focus your efforts in the zones surrounding higher points, like boulders or small hills.- The Old Archer climbed to a nearby one and explained. –If it behaves like most Hidden World felines do, he will share their same basic strategy in open areas like this one.-
He looked around and pointed certain areas. –He might get close using the tall grass there at first, but once we find him out he will take the higher ground.- Garo pointed the boulder he was standing in as an example. –He will use this point to pounce on us, or at least have a higher vantage point to aim his Lighting.- The Old Archer jumped from the rock and walked towards the Cell Tower, gesturing Alex to follow him. –We need to create corridors that guide Byakko towards this tower, so we can ground his attacks here.-
-You should use the rocks and higher spots around the tower as the perimeter and get the traps inside said perimeter.- Garo touched the tower, putting some weight on it to see its stability. –Maybe you could prepare a wire cage using the tower as basic outline that springs up when Byakko is inside…. Can you make it react to Lighting? If you can’t I might have a basic charm to do so…- This was Garo’s element, he preferred well thought traps and ambushes rather than extermination runs, like they did in Suzaku’s domain.

Warden nearly fell over as Falken's blades slashed through his arms, robbing him of his front limbs. He was only saved by the flexibility of his spine, twisting himself into an upright position. This was not a winning battle. He paced on his hind limbs, head hanging heavy. "You realize you'll never catch her. Even if you defeat me, I've weakened you enough that your apprentice and Ariana can kill you." Or escape, if he kept Falken talking.
___
Ariana slowed when Velvela called to her. She felt like she could trust her. Landing, she glanced around. They were surrounded by trees, but even in the wild, she could see a massive cell tower rising not far off. She'd have to explore these woods and see if there was any treasure. Maybe she'd do it with her new friend!
"Hi! You're not helping your boss?" Just in case, she seized control of the surrounding water. The falling raindrops slowed to a stop around her, hovering in wait of her command.

Nodding his head thoughtfully at the plan proposed to him, he couldn't help but think how fortunate it was to have access to the knowledge that Garo had earned throughout his long career. In truth he was glad to have Garo with him. Out of all the hunters, he was easily the most experience and the one with the most intel on the scared beasts. "You should use the charm." he said to the veteran. Alex turns around to go work on the perimeter. He keeps in mind what Garo had told him and he starts to pays more attention to areas with the higher ground. He starts to lay some minor traps at these higher points with the goal to guide the beast towards the tower, while at the same time he begins to work out the larger trap that was going to connect to the tower along the perimeter as well. Alex was going to try to trap the scared beast, though all his traps always have the potential to turn gruesomely lethal in purpose very quickly depending on the situation. At times it could be from the victim's choice or his own. After he finishings on the perimeter, he was going to create even more traps within with the same purpose to protect the beast from gaining any positions that would give it the high ground along with edging the deity towards the tower. In the back of his mind, he wonder what the others could possibly be doing at this moment.

-If I do we need to get him into the antenna area as soon as we can, as stray lighting might trigger the charms.- Garo added, as not everything could be as easy as it seemed. Yet as he placed the paper charms in the four support beams he turned to Alexander with a smirk. –You know… we need bait inside the antenna… and I know just the guy…- His smile went a bit sinister as he finished with. –How do you think we can get Falken inside the trap?- Hopefully Alexander was a tired from the arrogant mercenary as Garo was, as the Old Archer didn’t want to keep collaborating with Falken in each big job he had.
-He is not my boss… he is my appointed school mentor…- Velvela spoke, still on edge ready to move as she watched the water suspended around Ariana. –And I would never hurt kids.- She spoke gently as she slowly moved her hands to the center of her chest, unclipping her harness, dropping her equipment noisily to the floor. (She still had a gun behind her waist, but she kept it there for safety.) –See? I don’t want to hurt you… I just want to know what’s going on… Who is Eve Harper? Why did she ask my boss to kill you?-
After finishing his slide he stood up, finally his legs were feeling a bit better, thanks to his nanites, yet he knew he couldn’t pull any complex moves for a while, those water punches carried a lot of power behind them, more that what he expected. Warden, who had only threatened him before tried to stop the fight, tried to mark the pointless nature of their conflict once Ariana was faraway enough. Falken smirked smugly and said. –I know what are trying to do… and for your information…- He extended his hand and a portal swallowed it.
A strange light enclosed around Falken and when the radiance stopped he was wearing a weird backpack connected through a sturdy hose to a gun that looked like old pulp magazines ray-guns. He summoned the Hino Freeze Ray, the good ol’ freezing gun of mad scientists. –I was just warming up but you….- He aimed at Warden, thinking that freezing the opponent might stop his shapeshifting powers and hopefully stop them so he could hunt Ariana.
-You’re going to get cold feet my friend- And with that he shoot at wild stream of energy, a freezing lighting, that would flash freeze anything it touched, even the surroundings started being affected as the muddy puddles around them froze.

Warden kept a careful eye on Falken as he reached for a new weapon. Just what was this new weapon. Warden had no intent of being struck, whatever it was. However, this became very hard when he ducked under the first shot and the world became cold. He fell over as his body became too stiff to pull upright again. Of all things, this fool had to use ice. He couldn't pull himself back to his feet, so he with drew his limbs and his head narrowed and lengthened into a spade. With a hearty wiggle, he began shoving his way into the earth.
___
Ariana watched closely as Velvela dropped her gear. The rain fell with it as Ariana released control of the surrounding water. "You didn't have to- wait, Eve... Eve told him to do that?" Shock passed through her like a cold liquid and she stopped hoevring, hitting the ground heavily. "N-no! She couldn't have!" Her interest turned to confusion and pain. "Eve is my sister. She'd never hurt me." She sounded hopeful, but with hope there is something to hope against.

Alex answers Garo with his own twisted smile, "There couldn't be a better version of bait in the entire world." Alex looks around as to make sure everything was right. He always double checks to ensure that nothing goes wrong with the mechanics behind his traps. As he examines the more complex points, he continues to say, "But I do hope you aren't suggesting we use the trap on Falken." Looking back at the old hunter, he wasn't sure if he was joking or not. Still, even if he used the trap on him, it was currently design to hold the target, not kill. Yet, it wouldn't be hard for the victim to kill itself if it tries to escape. At least, that is how it functions. But with a deity... he would be fortunate enough if the trap was able to subdue the scared beast. Should things go south... Alex's hand reaches to his Colt, he was going to use his most deadly weapon on the divine creature. "Garo... do you suppose this trap will work? Because if it doesn't... then we are going to need to come up with a backup plan.... just in case." said the trap maker with lengthy pauses between his words.

Garo smiled with a twisted grin. –I’m not saying we trap him in there, but he is the best bait…- The Old Archer started lifting his fingers as he enumerated the reasons. –He is noisy, rude, a showboat, annoying and basically walks with a neon sign asking to get ass kicked… and he is the most durable of all of us… or the second most durable, but I don’t plan risking Eve’s life, since she is signing my checks.- When he finished talking he started re-checking everything, hoping to find everything in order. As he did this he listened to Alexander’s doubts.
-No trap has a 100% success rate, we can only hope to reach a good percentage of success through careful planning and some luck. - The Old Archer pointed at the arrows grouped around the antenna and explained. –I do have a Plan B but I try not to talk about it until it’s time to use it, consider it a lucky routine. – Still, pointing the arrows was enough of a hint, as all the groups had a single arrow with a “Tetsu” charm, surely not only giving the arrow increased durability but making it share the properties of Iron.
-Don’t give me a cold shoulder! - Falken shouted with a sardonic chuckle as he noticed Warden’s attempts to escape. The Mercenary had a whole list full of cold/ice puns on his mainframe, all saved from previous ideas when he reached a point he should use the Hino Freeze Ray. –Leaving without saying goodbye? - Falken shot another blast aimed at Warden. –That’s bloody cold! But unluckily for you it seems I’m way cooler than you.- He wanted to completely encase the Shapeshifting Guardian in Ice.
-I don’t know what to tell you, I’m just telling you what I heard, Ms. Harper, our employer, asked my Mentor to hunt you and kill you.- Velvela stopped talking as she tried to think. –I don’t know why she asked him that and now that you tell me she is your sister I’m even less sure of anything.- Velvela crouched to be at the same height than Ariana. –Are you sure you haven’t done anything that could have made her angry?- The Super Soldier Student asked using her kindest tone of voice.

Warden knew he'd not escape as Falken's chill once again engulfed him. His thoughts slowed to a crawl along with his flesh. He hoped Ariana was far away...
A stiff, wormlike creature fell over, coated in frost. By all natural standards, it was dead, frozen to the core. By its own, it was merely inconvenienced.
___
Velvela didn't need to crouch much to look Ariana in the eye. She was massive for her age. She might even have been taller than Velvela. "What could I do to make my big sister want to kill me!?" She screamed, stomping in the puddle she stood in and causing a wave that further soaked her and Velvela. She bundled her hands into fists and turned away, quietly crying to herself. After a minute, she turned around, hope returned to her teary eyes. "Take me to her! She'll clear this up! And I can even get her to forgive-"
With an unbelievable noise like a bomb going off in her head and a flash that left her blind, Ariana was interrupted. When sight returned to the clearing's inhabitants, Ariana had been thrown against a tree hard enough to tilt it, roots exposed in the steaming mud. Ariana raised her head enough to see a smouldering hole in her blouse right above her heart and something further away, blurry and white, charging right at her and Velvela to finish the job.

Alex says not another word to Garo for a while. He had no protests and no reasons to ask for more details for his backup plan for he trusted the old Archer, besides not knowing was a bit exciting. Still, if this trap fails, Alex will have his own plan B in place should he need it. Hopefully it works well with Garo's own plan B. As he back at the direction that he last saw Eve leave them earlier, he couldn't help but to think that she was taking to long. Hmmmm.... I wonder what kind trouble they are currently in. Is it possible that the beast had attack them already and I am just wasting my time and efforts here? No. If that was the case, then I'm sure Garo will be able to tell immediately if the deity was within the area. After a couple of minutes of silence he finally asks, "What do you think is taking them so long?"

The time almost stood still for Velvela, as the first spark of light appeared. The Super Soldier Student might not have advanced Ki techniques, or magical abilities, but she had a natural gift, the main reason she got the scholarship and recruitment in Inazuma. Her senses were inhumanly sharp, to the point that other Hidden World Denizens were like regular humans when it came to sensorial input they could receive and manage. For some reason Velvela was granted enhanced senses and the ability to handle them without backlash.
Her perception of time or at least movement made bullets look like half-assed Tennis serves. That’s why she was so able to fight a whole class in Inazuma the last year. She could perceive and analyze information way faster than a regular human. Thus, the second the light hit the clearing she closed her eyes and rolled backward, grabbing her equipment while back flipping and strapping the holsters while rolling on the ground. When she stood up the brightness had vanished revealing the majestic Byakko.
Without even considering her own safety the Super Soldier Student drew an altered FN SCAR Rifle with a grenade launcher and scope attachment. She carried regular ammo and a handful of explosive rounds with hollow tip Falken made. These Special Bullets exploded on impact, releasing the tip as fragments. –ARIANA, GET DOWN!- And with that warning Velvela started raining reinforced steel on Byakko.
-My bloody job here is done… - Falken spoke with a smug smile as he started using his improved sensorial array to locate Velvela’s by her GPS tag. As he scanned around his eyes focused on the massive light coming from the forest, getting a moments-long glimpse on the GPS tag before it went dark. Surely it was some sort of EMP-like effect, something to be careful about.
The Mercenary shifted his nanites configuration to prevent the EMP fucking up his functions, yet this stopped him from accessing some of his skills, like satellite connection, thus he only had the Hino Freeze Ray to protect himself until he reconfigured the nanites once again. He started walking towards the forest, ready for anything.
Garo shrugged his shoulders as he double checked the enchantment in the Charms. –If Harper-san said she would bring it here I think I’ll trust her word.-

At the bottom of the lake, Eve was blindsided by the flash above. Lightening? It had to be a hell of a blast for her to see it down here. She wheeled on the spot to struggle back through the water towards the others. It had to be Byakku! Was he attacking the others while she was trying to find him? Crap! She managed to burst onto shore with a great gasp as she remembered she didn't have lungs. The gills on her neck sealed up and the little air sacks in her chest inflated back into functioning lungs. When she managed to oxygenate her body again, she took off for the radio tower. All thoughts of her sister and Falken were gone as she rushed to help her crew.
___
Ariana rolled off the tree she was thrown into, back feeling like it was made of bruises. She struggled to her feet while Velvela rained death on Byakku. The first few exploding rounds battered the great beast's massive face, singing its fur before it dashed to the side, bus-sized body moving supernaturally fast into the trees. The forest wasn't its preferred environment, the trees slowing it down as it smashed through them. They did the same again as it charged forward, dashing past Velvela to pounce at Ariana.
Ariana found her footing just as the beast struck, grabbing for her with iron fangs. She clumsily fell back, making its jaws snap uselessly above her. As it moved in for another strike, Ariana raised her hands, summoning a shape of ice in them. Just as Byakku bit down, the ice faded to steel and it found himself with an anchor in its mouth, holding its own steely jaws off of Ariana. But even as Ariana made the anchor grow in size, it began to bend under Byakku's bite force.

Alex turns his gaze towards Garo and wonders why the old archer had so much faith in the possibility that anything involving Falken will end up how you would expect it to be. The man was a machine of uncertainties. Before he could issue another comment, immediately something else caught his attention in the sky. A flashy bolt of lighting hurls into the earth a few hundred meters west of the cell tower. Maybe normal people would become frighten from such a powerful strike landing so close to them, but for Alex this only got his blood bumping. Yet, he paces himself so he could resist the urge to rush towards his target. "Fascinating." He looks back Garo with a sinister smile and says, "This is going to be interesting."

Velvela didn’t doubt for a single second. She rushed to help Ariana, dashing towards Byakko’s exposed back with fierce determination. –I…- She started shouting as she jumped over the White Tiger’s back. –said…- the Super Soldier Student ran over the Sacred Beast back, shooting back as she moved before jumping. –get…- Velvela chugged a live grenade (regular weaponry) inside the Divine Feline’s mouth, using a hole between its massive jaws and the ice anchor. –DOWN!- Velvela covered Ariana’s body with her own as she pushed the young girl with her away from the mouth.
Falken rushed towards the last known location of Velvela, hopefully he would find her before she ended up dead, still it wouldn’t the first time an Inazuma Student died during mentoring and it would be the third student dead while serving as an intern for Falken (Last one died because he used as a human shield because he was being a pain in the ass) –I hope that girl isn’t bloody dead… I can’t pay another fine until I get paid from the last job in Beirut.-
-Interesting you say? - Garo looked at Alexander a tad worried by his interest on the deadly lighting. –I only hope is short and that we end unscathed from the fight. – The Archer moved his hand towards his pocket, clutching an old charm he had from his JHWAB days. It wasn’t magical, more like a lucky charm than anything else. Last time he came to China he didn’t have it on him, as he left it on Inazuma, but after quitting he always had it on his person.

Eve burst into the clearing, stopping well clear of Garo and Alex out of fear of whatever traps they had laid. "Where... Byakku? Not... here?" She panted. "Lightening! Big! Too big... to be normal!" She was barely able to choke out these words before slipping to her knees. She could only vaguely wave in the direction the lightening seemed to have come from.
___
Byakku snarled in anger as its jaws were kept wide, finally snapping them shut just as Ariana was knocked away. Metal returned to ice and melted away as Byakku moved its head oddly, trying to fish out the little lump that had caught in its throat. Its eyes widened in shock as the grenade went off. Around in a circle it stumbled, smoke trailing from its nostrils. It opened its mouth to whimper and blood dripped free, pooling in front of it.
Ariana cried in shock at the pain it was in, but remembered an adventure with another awesome older girl. She still didn't like its pain, but she knew it couldn't always be quick. She scooped her arm under Velvela's legs and put her other hand on her back. "We're leaving while it's distracted!" She yelled before taking off towards the cell tower she saw looming not too far off. She knew enough science to figure she should be safer from the storm there. As she flew, she cuddled Velvela close, trying to keep from hurting her on the brush and branches they barreled through. Even with the pain and growing chill of exhaustion, she felt like a hero. She hoped the older girl would be as grateful as she was of the rescue.

Alex looks at Eve and figures that Falken would be right behind her, but after a while he could only assume that she didn't come with the machine man, or at the very least he was busy with something. Was he the one engaging the beast? That wouldn't be surprising considering both the man's attitude and his luck for finding trouble. Looking back at Eve he says, "We need to remove the beast from that location and bring him here." Yet, it might also be possible that the divine monster was targeting someone else besides the most talkative machine in the world, he thought.
First person to come to his mind was the young female teenager he was working with earlier. Yet, he wasn't gifted with extremely extraordinary senses for detecting others, so he would have no clue about who was there exactly, but those two would be the most likely people. And all the villagers are already gone. Yet again, thinking back now about that small conversation that Eve had with Falken before they split up..... He figure that they had just been flirting with one another, but maybe there was more to their exchange then he previous thought. The more he thought about it the more he was convince about his suspicions. The fact that Eve had whispered to the cyborg so none could hear, that he went on his own, and how long he has been taking. After all, had he engage the beast sooner, the signs of the fighting would have been seen much earlier.
Walking over to an out of breath Eve, the creepy man asks her, "Who else is here?" He stares at her waiting for the truth to be revealed about what Eve has been hiding from them.

Velvela shouted so she could be heard through the roaring of the wind as they flew. –We should have stayed! If the enemy is showing weakness is the perfect time to attack! We need to…- But she stopped talking as she realized what she was saying. She could blame Falken, or blame Inazuma but she realized it, she placed harming the enemy over protecting Ariana, who in fact was saving her right now. The Super Soldier Student went into deep thought, silent as she tried to find out when everything went wrong.
Falken finally reached to the last location of Velvela’s GPS, but he noticed way before reaching it that stealth would be his better option. Moving without a sound, even over dry leaves, thanks to his nanites sound-cancelling feature he hid behind a tree. He didn’t come without any preparation this time around, knowing he would face a powerful beast he also configured his nanites to diminish or even block and scent coming off from him, so he could cloak himself from two of the Divine Tiger senses.
He saw the smoke coming out Byakko and smiled, he taught Velvela to chug grenades into weak spots, so he guessed that she used the moment of pain to escape. That was a bad choice, if the damn beast was injured or stun she should have kept pressing on. From his hideout he hoped to find something more about the quarry of the day.
Garo went to aid Eve, getting his first aid kit from behind his waist. –Harper-dono are you okay?- He asked worried as he looked for any wounds he could help to heal.

"I'm fine... just tired." Eve shoved herself to her feet. "Not made... for... running." She gave Alex a confused smile when he talked to her, breathing deeply for a few moments before responding. "Who else? Nobody else should be. We evacuated the town. Now come on. I'm drawing him back here and you're helping." She marched to the other side of the clearing, looking distinctly away from Alex. She paused when she heard crashing in the woods. Was it Byakku?
___
Ariana shook her head. "I want a better spot! It shot me with lightening, and it could do that again! We'll be safer under the cell tower." She rocketed onwards through the trees, noticing Velvela's silence. She looked down and lightly shook her. "Are you okay? Did it hurt you? Wait, EVE!?" She looked up just in time to see the sister she slammed into.
___
Byakku wheezed in pain. The aberration had fled, but was still in its territory. Unacceptable. Its assailant had one power that could harm it. It was smart enough to avoid that again. It would rest here for a minute, let its swift body recover. Then it would erase everything. Those who had harmed it and aberration alike.

Alex could sense that Eve was hiding something from him, yet the most pressing priority was not to integrate the shapeshifter, but instead, to go after the true target. Eventually, he will knew the truth. He wasn't one to let his curiosity be left starving. She will be reveal the info shortly enough, he thought to himself. Maybe they will even discover upon her secret once they get to where the 'others' are at. Alex follows behind her after she had a couple of seconds of a decent head start on him, yet he manages to quickly caught up to as she suddenly stops moving her legs. Moving his fingers, he prepares for whatever emerges from the woods as he too heard the noise that struck Eve's attention.

Velvela landed with Ariana and rolled in the ground to reduce the impact, she was still confused about her previous actions and kept to herself. Garo gave her a nod of approval (he was one of her first year teachers) but still that wasn’t able to pull her away from the grim thoughts plaguing her mind. The Super Soldier Student hoped that Eve didn’t go ballistic and tried to kill Ariana as she didn’t have the will or the strength to face the Huntress. Not to mention she would get chewed off by Falken if she screwed up more.
Conflicting feelings filled Velvela’s head as she looked around confusing, trying to find a point of stability to focus on so his heart filled with turmoil could calm down.
Garo looked at the newcomer that brought Velvela, she seemed to now Eve, considering her shout. So The Old Archer moved closer to them and asked. –Harper-dono, who is this girl? - With a hint of curiosity on his tone.
Falken kept his back against the tree, no matter how big he spoke before starting the mission his ego wasn’t something so big that blinded him from everything. –I better play it safe and return with the others.- He thought as he slipped, hopefully undetected through the trees, yet he didn’t consider something important. As he lowered his nanites functions to diminish the chance of a shutdown in case of being hit with an Electro Magnetic Pulse his noise and odor concealing features weren’t working as good as they should.
He managed to get 10 mts of distance before he stepped over a branch that normally would be noiseless with him at full gear, but after a draining fight with Warden and the diminished power it managed to crack loud enough to be heard. The Mercenary gulped nervously, maybe Byakko was still too damaged and stunned by Velvela to hear that or maybe he listened to it and he was about to become the next thing on the creature menu. Without thinking it twice he started running, a bit less carefully than before, so if Byakko heard him at least he would have a headstart.
