“Eh!?” Jun’s composure utterly failed when Gan spoke, jaw dropping and eyes widening. Withered little claws dug into the feathers of their mounts as Gal, Vlad, and Gallerian attacked. Screaming little voices cried out and the massive raptors went soaring into the sky, evading the attacks through altitude. “A levitation spell? Of course! They’re lighter than they look!” Jun had snapped back into seriousness, but it was too late for her to ready herself as one came down spear first, knocking her flat. The beast leaned down to snap at her neck, but her own spear finger tore through its jaw and it collapsed on its side.
Its goblin rider screamed, mouth stretching into a horrible toothy cavern. Jun was pinned down by the creature’s body and the goblin’s frenzied stabbing. Each strike came closer to piercing. Wilson was too distracted to help her, pinned to a tree by a spear while holding off a utahraptor attempting to dig its fangs into his stomach. Gan now had three massive raptors staring him down. Two stayed back to fire crossbow bolts at him while the third rushed him lance first. Only Aaron was unambiguously doing well, his strike rewarded with a pop and a collapsed raptor. The mottled little creature atop it wailed in misery and jumped up, swinging at Aaron’s knee with a runty warhammer. The rest were just rushed again as soon as the raptors landed, keeping up the same aggressive pattern they started with.
“My comrades are my only family!” The private responded. Dan was nearby staring at Osechi in utter bafflement. How many people had she killed, not knowing they would come back? Disturbed as he was, his attention was quickly drawn away by the disk that Caroline held up. “Hey! I recognize that!” He ran to Caroline’s side and examined it closer. “Yeah! That’s a… well I don’t know what they’re called, but they were on Sakurajima. They contain monsters and people can use them to transform. I have no idea how these guys got their hands on them. I thought that Reiji had all of them, but I guess there are more.” Dan rubbed his chin. He reached out with the intent of attempting to use it, but a loud hiss tore out from its surface.
First the glossy green coating over it was eaten away before the rest of the disk began to corrode away. It crumbled like a worm-eaten apple, leaving nothing but greenish dust in Erin and Caroline’s hands. “Well I certainly know nothing of them but that they allow horrible things! Monsters and armored intruders! How dreadful!” The Gingerbread Knight shook his head in disapproval. “Aw, but I wanted to transform…” Dan mumbled. “Do not despair! Perhaps Santa will get you a transformation device of your own for your help! I assume you are helping us, anyway. You did defeat some enemies who were causing me great trouble there! Ohohoho!” He pat Dan on the back, causing him to stiffen up again.
“Well, it seems they will not be useful! Let us bind them and leave them here to pick up later!” The knight unhooked a strange gingerbread mace from his hip, complete with slits cut in the top. He waved it and frosting sprayed from those slits, coating the two soldiers up to their necks. “Insulating, sticky, indestructible, and delicious! Ohohohoho!” He laughed as they tried to struggle free.

Gan looked at Jun, then back at the Raptors, would he be able to make a choice in time? Thinking about it was absurd to begin with. In his mind, there was no decision to be made. He drew his blade and made haste towards Jun, as soon as he got there, he swung at the creature with impeccable form. Then the inevitable came.
A sharp pain struck his back, the suit's fibers slowed the lance just enough for his bones to stop it altogether, he winced in pain, but did not show any signs of weakness, the first shot of the crossbow struck the back of his shoulder, then the second bolt came striking his leg. Gan finally dropped to one knee, but he was far from done. The warrior looked back at the goblin closest to him, his expression showing nothing but unfathomable anger. He gathered as much Ki as he had and put it forward on his blade. The moment Gan sliced, even the ground would shatter. He aimed to kill the creature and his mount in a single go. Gan roared.
The Gingerbread knight was right in front of her, he looked so cool, so handsome, so tasty. Looking at him slightly depressed was making her feel sad as well. She hugged him tightly as his scent soothed her, she couldnt help but even blush a little.
"Don't worry, you are just perfect the way you are now♪"- She told him happily.
As the knight finally restrained the soldiers for good, she finally looked at her team
"Well let's go! we have no time to waste here! And don't worry, I'll just beat up anyone who comes our way!"

Dan’s explanation produced far more questions for Caroline than they answered. “...I am going to ask you to explain what half those words mean later.” She said. Who was ‘Reiji’? What’s Sakurajima? What monsters? While it was confusing...a small smile of interest crept across Caroline’s face. Perhaps she just stumbled into something even more interesting than she initially thought.
Both Erin and Caroline looked on with disappointment when the medals disintegrated into nothingness. Letting out a sigh, Erin stepped forward. “I suppose we can’t do much else here. Soo…” Erin reached into her pocket and produced a wallet with her HWIC ID inside. “Erin Miyata, HWIC Enforcement division. You’re both under arrest for…” She looked up at the sky for a second. “...assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy to commit murder, annnnnnd...trespassing.” She explained. There was probably a whole list of other charges, but that was for the lawyers to decide.
Seeing that the knight had already frozen the captives in place, Caroline strolled over to Erin and poked her pocket with the ID inside. “Soooo...HWIC, huh? Color me surprised.” Caroline’s words made Erin look down slightly in embarrassment. “Yeah well...usually I’m with someone else on these things…” She began. Caroline crossed her arms in amusement. “So they must trust you enough to save Christmas, am I wrong?” She asked. This made Erin let out another sigh. “Yeah...that’s one way of seeing it I guess…” Erin knew the real reason; most people were off on Christmas and these things usually didn’t need much in the way of expertise. Why was this year different?!
Caroline squinted at the reaction, stepping forward. “Well...I certainly feel better knowing we have someone official here. Especially someone as…” Suddenly, Caroline wrapped Erin into a hug, whispering into her ear. “...adorable as you.” Letting go of the hug, Caroline winked back at Erin and joined the others, leaving the agent standing in disbelief at what had just happened.
“You’re so right, Osechi!” Caroline beamed. “Oh knight of gingerbread! Are you still fit enough to join us on this adventure? We’d certainly love to have you here!” She stated, giving him a smile and motioning for the group to begin walking.

The woman was determined to be difficult. Arthur wasn't sure he wanted to leave them behind like that, but the gingerbread knight thought it was a good idea and this was his home turf. At first, Arthur was a bit worried Osechi found her match when the knight pulled out a mace, but he calmed down when frosting shot out of it.
"Well, not the most convenient means of binding people, but if you say it's fine I'll take it." Arthur brushed off his hands as if the job was done.
"So, Mr. Knight. You're Santa's agent, I assume. Do you know where we're going now?"
--- Aaron knocked down the dinosaur, so its rider jumped up with vengeance on its mind. The tiny goblin swung an equally tiny mallet and it hit Aaron's knee.
"Ouch, ya fae git." The goblin failed to account for the fact that it was fairly feeble, and that Aaron just smashed down its mount with one hit. Aaron pulled back one leg and then tried kicking the goblin like a football at the group of raptors surrounding Gan. If he missed with the kick, he'd reach down, try to grab it and toss it at them instead. At the same time, he'd shout to Gan and Jen:
"Ey, watch your fucking backs. If you're too incompetent to take care of yourselves, just go back up."

“GrooKEY!?” The goblin attacking Jun startled. It seemed unharmed for a second before its spear-bearing arms fell one way and the top half of its body toppled the other. The one that speared him snarled while the other reloaded. “Human thinks he’s so strong. Human will fall with a thousand bolts in his chest!” The crossbow goblin screamed. The lance-bearer beside it nodded before Gan’s swipe came down. An invisible blade of force blasted through the forest, toppling trees and rending the very earth. The goblin and its mount were not cut so much as shredded.
His partner shrieked and aimed his crossbow, but before his finger could squeeze the trigger, a glittering spear impaled his chest. With a gurgle, the goblin toppled. The feathered beast it rode shrieked and fled. “You shouldn’t have done that. I would have been fine.” Jun tried to be angry, but her tone was soft. Before she could do anything about the bolt sticking from his skin, the goblin Aaron kicked came soaring past.
With that, the remaining goblins turned tail. Within seconds, the last of the raptors had scarpered back into the woods, no more to be seen. Wilson pulled the spear from his gut and stepped away from the tree, releasing a spurt of water. He pulled up his shirt to inspect the wound. Jun glanced between him and Gan and waved everybody over. “Come on. Anybody who needs healing, I carry bandages.” She unrolled a strand of bandages. “That goes first to you. Unlike Wilson, you’re a human.”
“Ah? Yeah, sorry, I’ll explain later.” Dan shrugged. His fingers drummed the surface of the medal. “How do you use these?” He asked the closer soldier. “I’ll never tell you! Never!” She cried. “Yeah, okay. Alright, if these guys are gonna be fine here, I’m ready to move on.” He waved and began walking. He glanced back at Caroline hugging Erin and felt a twinge of annoyance. He shrugged it off as best he could and rounded the hill.
“Egads, a member of the HWIC! Always pleased to meet one of you! We can discuss whose jurisdiction these scoundrels fall under at a later moment! Oho!” The gingerbread knight chortled and hugged Osechi back. “Oh! An affectionate one! Most certainly I will join you! In fact, you could use my leadership! I found their point of origin before they chased me back to these hills and overwhelmed me. Several I have felled, but they number in the dozens.” He pointed to the smokey horizon. “There lies a strange building, not like any I have seen in the North Pole before. It belongs not to Hyperborian nor frost giant nor elf, nor any of the other races native to our fine lands. I shall lead you! Ahoy!” The jolly gingerbread knight ran ahead, passing Dan in an instant as he charged forward. Dan blinked and hurried his pace to keep up.

"Of course you would have, I have no doubts about that." Gan told Jun with a smile after listening to her complaint. He took a seat on a nearby rock as Aaron scolded them both.
"Sorry about that Aaron, I'll try to be more careful in the future"-He told him with honesty. Gan proceeded to check his leg, then his shoulder. those were some strong bolts. if it wasn't for the suit, they would have pierced clean.
Luckily for him, Jun came prepared, she took out the bandages and Gan nodded.
"Thank you, I think I will take your offer on me not bleeding to death, could you help me with my shoulder?"
Gan reached out for the bolt and broke it just enough so that he could take out his suit, he folded it and proceeded to do the same with the shirt. Irezumi of twin dragons were at display on his back and arms, extending to parts of his chest. He had some scars on his body and the bolts would also leave a couple more, but they seemed well hidden under the ink.
"I guess this is going to hurt"
Osechi melted into a puddle the moment the knight hugged her back but quickly regained composure as their mission became clear
"Let's go!"- She said as she dropped her hammer on the ground and sprinted after Dan and the Knight. It wasnt long before she noticed how hard it actually was to run on snow, fortunately, there was a solution to her problem!
"Hey hey Arthur, Carry me!" Osechi said as she jumped on him in an attempt to get piggybacked all the way to their destination.
"onwards my friends!"- She chanted.

“A...building?” Erin asked with a small amount of confusion. How could someone get a building all the way out to the middle of nowhere? There wasn’t anyone with strong enough teleportation that she knew of who could bring an entire building. Did the building have giant spider legs that could walk itself?! The thought brought a shine in Erin’s eyes as she envisioned the ridiculous setup.
Her thoughts were interrupted when the knight began to charge ahead with great speed, Erin attempting to run after them but having similar problems to Osechi. “Uh...slow down please!” She called out. Caroline also increased her pace to try and keep up with the others, letting out a small chuckle when she saw Osechi trying to get on Arthur’s back.
“Hey, that’s a great idea! Hang on…” Whipping her arm out, Caroline grabbed onto the ginger knight’s shoulder and rocketed her body forward, latching onto his back. “I hope you don’t have a problem with me...stealing a ride, do you?” She asked playfully. Erin rolled her eyes from afar as she struggled through the snow. “Come on guys...they’re not camels!” The agent muttered to herself. Erin could never bring herself to want to latch onto someone like those two, let alone strangers!

Gallerian, help them - The ex-paladin commanded
Excuse me? - The angel sulked, when on Earth the shyest student he had dared to speak to him in such manner - I'll do it once you answer me this, who is my Prince's father? As the closest friend of Elatha, you may know
That caught Vladimir off guard, who started couhing all of a sudden - T-That's... complicated... I'm not sure either...
Keep talking or we'll be slower from now on~ - The angel smiled back, of course, he learned that from Derek and Thomas when they argued about things he didn't understood entirely but anyway! it was working.
Vladimir sighed as he wiped the sweat from his forehand with his hand, it seems he was having a hard time until he calmed down and explained - I... believe that Prinche Christopher is Fergus's child, Elatha admired him and even started a revolution against the King because of him
You clearly aren't sure... I won't blame her, Fergus was charming... and a bit weird - The angel chuckled before moving towards Jun, Gan, Wilson and Aaron - Sorry Juu! Tell me! What do I have to heal? I can make it 100% better! - He said to her, quite happy, he glanced at Gan for a second... yes they both had blue eyes and black hair... b-but they weren't alike at all! A-A-And he was old enough in humans years to be adopted... Maybe another grown up won't bother Chloe... after all they did a great job in a few years with the other two boys...
Show me your back, I'll heal you... - The angel said, sulking a bit

The knight had an idea of where they would go and that it was swarming with enemies. "Huh, you managed to take down a few off those guys? While surrounded by dozens of them? Impressive. I guess you're Santa's knight for a reason." It was strange how they only found two people with him though. He seemed recently beaten so it was unlikely the soldiers had back-up that left before the group showed up. And that made his whole claim of beating some difficult to believe, especially since he only conveniently woke up after the soldiers were defeated. Well, Arthur was just basing that idea off the way they found him. The real show of mettle will be when they actually run into the enemy.
As the group pressed on, some of the group realized they weren't made for the snow. Arthur didn't have that problem, running on top of it as if it was solid ground. Osechi noticed it and jumped on Arthur's back.
"Uf. Hey! At least ask before jumping!" She was a lot heavier than she looked. Like, way heavier than any actual human could be. "I think you've been eating a few too many snowmen recently. Did you consider healthier alternatives? Like, plant monsters?"
Osechi's action inspired Caroline to do the same with the knight. Arthur admittedly felt he got the shorter end of that particular stick. And then Erin started complaining. She was the one having the most trouble with the snow, after all.
"Hey, if you want I think I can carry you too. In my arms though. Or you can try out Dan's back."
After so little fight, the goblins turned tail and fled. That gave the team an opportunity to heal up. Aaron didn't need healing and he couldn't provide bandages or magic like Jun or Gal, so he found a nearby tree to lean on. He stared in the direction the goblins ran toward, looking for signs of them coming back.
"Hurry it up, before the annoying cunts regroup and gather reinforcements."

“Alright then, both of you get over here.” Jun waved to Gan and Wilson to sit down. Wilson shed his tank top, revealing a lean body marred by a gaping wound in his stomach. “If you can heal wounds, please close that up.” She asked the angel after a cursory glance. “I will need to withdraw those bolts before you get healed.” She took a closer look at Gan, trying not to let her eyes linger. He was clearly flirting, but staring was still improprietous. Beautiful, flowing tattoos over impossibly gorgeous muscles drew her eyes across him until they stuck on the bolts sticking from his back like tiny flagpoles. “Hold still. This isn’t going to be fun.” One by one, she plucked them from his back, leaving only minimal holes.
“Aaron is right. As soon as you’re healed, we should move on.” Once Galerian had done his work, they moved on through the forest. Jun’s hand went to her sword at every little sound and Wilson stalked the edges of the group, staring into the trees until he found what he was looking for. “This way.” He pointed through a section of thick undergrowth and thorny vines. “It is uncleared. No sapient creature uses that path.” He hopped into the vines, expertly avoiding scratching himself as he stepped through. “Unpleasant, but he’s probably right.” Jun enscaled her legs and stepped among the thorns. Little wooden claws tugged at her pants, but scraped harmlessly off her skin when they managed to penetrate. She began to grumble as they went further. Her jacket was already full of holes and now her pants were being ruined as well. She might as well have dressed like Wilson with the state she’d be in by the end of this.
“Well of course I am Santa’s knight for a reason! His wife made me for that very purpose!” The knight chortled to Arthur. “He is a brilliant toymaker, but she was always the baker of the two. As you can tell by my construction! Ohohohoho!”
“Don’t go offering my back without my say so! I’ve got enough trouble here!” Dan yelled back. “I am willing and able to carry any soul who has trouble with the snows of my polar home, dear Caroline!” The gingerbread knight kept up his pace just as easily with Caroline on his back as he had without her. “...dammit.” Dan mumbled. He should have offered to take her! Grumbling to himself, he pushed on until they rounded another hill, looking down on a broad, snowy valley.
There, a simple steel building stood, not much bigger than a mere entrance lobby would be for most buildings. Four of the strange green-armored soldiers stood before it, holding assault rifles across their chests. There was a gaping hole in the ice behind the building, pouring thick, greasy smoke out into the air. “There must be more underground.” Dan immediately surmised. “There’s only four there and I bet they have keys to the building.” He popped his knuckles, eying the people below eagerly.

Gan straightened so Jun could pluck out the bolts, he felt the warmth of her small hand reaching right behind his back, it was kind of comforting. He looked at Jun from over his shoulder as she began to get rid of the bolts.
"So...you know, I've been thinking maybe-" Gan stopped talking the moment the Jun plucked out the first bolt, that had been just as painful as when it originally struck his back. Before he could even recover, the shattered one took out the seoncd, then proceeded to stand up, leaving the healing to Gallerian.
"That...was worse than I expected" -He said to himself, slightly wincing from the pain the wound was causing.
"Thank you both for the help, let's go."- he told Jun and Gallerian as he finally pulled through the pain.
As Gan got up and followed the group, they encountered a path through the torny vines. Gan inhaled and focused his Ki, creating an even denser armor around his body. The torns violently shattered anytime they came in contact with his skin, and his pants were doing an incredible job at fending off the spikes. Looking forward, Gan couldnt help but notice how Jun's clothes were getting torn to shreds everytime she moved. He slightly touched her on the shoulder and handed her over his jacket.
"Here, you should use it to cover your clothes, It's not much but, it should be better than nothing."
Gan was not gonna let Jun get her whole body exposed. with how wide his back was, Jun could use his jacket as a skirt of sorts, the size was big enough to reach around her waist and she could use the sleeves as a belt to set it in place.
Osechi looked at Arthur over the shoulder, the chef girl visibly angry
"Are you calling me fat?! You come across as a nice person at first but you are actually pretty mean you know?! I'll have you know I only weigh 90kilos, plus, snowmen are just water you dummy, they are healthy!"
She looked down at the group below only to see Caroline riding on the knight's back. she got even angrier, puffing her cheeks in disapproval, she jumped off , taking impulse from Arthur's back and then landing on the snow right next to Caroline and the gingerbread knight.
"Don't get all touchy with my cookie. you can have pinky and the others tho."- Osechi told Caroline right as they reached their destination.
Upon looking at the guards by the entrance, Osechi looked at the group, then back at the soldiers.
"what are we waiting for? they are four, we are more!"

"No, thank you!" Erin called up to Arthur as he offered to take her, and then said she should use Dan. Neither option was good here! Arthur was already holding Caroline, and Dan was weird! And there was no way she could catch up to latch onto that knight guy like Caroline. Grumbling to herself, Erin trudged through the snow and practically collapsed when she joined the group as they overlooked the valley below. Caroline jumped off the knight's back and was taken aback slightly when Osechi got defensive over the gingerbread knight. A smile spread across her face, Caroline folding her arms across her chest.
"Ooooooh? So you want a piece of that cookie, huh?" Caroline squinted her eyes slightly in amusement. "Well then, I shall leave it to you, oh eater of ghosts." Patting Osechi on the shoulder, Caroline made her way toward Arthur, waggling her right index finger slowly. "Non non non...you shouldn't comment on a woman's weight, Arthur. Or anyone’s weight, now that I think about it. It is quite rude.” She stated, poking Arthur in the chest with her right index finger. “By the way...you have a stain on your coat.” If Arthur looked down, Caroline would bring her arm up and flick the tip of his nose before moving on.
A look of mild disappointment was on Erin’s face when she saw that the building didn’t seem to be a mobile spider fortress. The hole in the ice was curious though. “Let’s try to be a little stealthier this time, ok? These guys probably have radios or...something.” Erin tried to reason with the group. Though considering that Dan, Osechi and Caroline seemed fairly impulsive, she knew that it was probably useless.
Casually strolling to the edge, Caroline began to stretch in anticipation for another fight. “Soooo...anyone have any ideas? I think Arthur, Osechi, bad boy and myself can take out one of those in a single hit. Any suggestions?” She asked the group, ready to begin the assault.

I hope that works for now - The angel said after healing both Wilson and Gan - By the way! Nice Tattoos! - He said to the man with a bright smile
I didn't knew you liked them - The ex-paladin commented
Oh, yes! My Prince wanted to have one but Chloe almost hit him with a wooden spoon - The angel laughed, as the other nodded. He knew Vladimir would support Chloe's decisions when it could come to something like that - But she let him have earrings, he has two on one ear
I-Is our prince some kind of bully? - Vladimir asked quite worried, considering how blonde Prince Christopher was he thought that living on the outside world would made him like those terrible high school boys who where in the football team, making the lifes of the intelectuals difficult.
What? No! He is a really sweet boy, he is too calm for a Van Dercycle, he usually reads or sleeps, he is a curious one despite of his laziness
Now that was a bit... worse, the prince was a lazy person... well, maybe if he was an intelectual, someone who cared about his studies then maybe he could be a nice king... but a King has to know how to properly fight! They have to---
Chloe and I train him, you don't have to panic, he isn't like Ela who got easily distracted from all her studies... But, about our other topic, I'm still surprised she asked you for Derek's second name, you'll have to ask him for forgivness because he doesn't like it... at all
That somehow calmed the ex-paladin and that last sentence made him feel awkward. Christopher was a great name! But... like mother, like son, both of them didn't like it. As they walked with their team and once they reached the vines, Gallerian transformed himself into a bluebird and flew carefully between the vines. He noticed the interactions between Jun and Gan... oooooooooooh so this now was a love mission too? Oh, God works in mysterious ways! He was going to play cupid! He loved doing that... even if he didn't had a love arrow or a bow... That was quite sadm, but miracles can still happen! Right?
Vladimir summoned a barrier around his body, to evade the vines from ruinning his clothes... living on the outside world was one of the most expensive things he ever did and money was something he always needed to save, so better take good care of his belongings.

"Fair enough. You're actually very fit and pretty chill so I thought it would be an okay joke. I didn't mean to make you angry. Sorry." Arthur wasn't even sure if Osechi heard his apology the way she rushed off to confront Caroline about stealing her man. Meal? Man-meal? Her snack. Caroline took it in stride, and in fact strolled over to scold him, too.
"I was aiming for humour over an insult, but point taken." Arthur told Caroline, before she pulled the oldest, most childish prank in the book. And he fell for it. "Oh, very mature." He chuckled. "Better watch out or I'll put a spider in your bag. That's a prank war you're not winning."
The sad part was that just as Osechi forced Caroline off the gingerbread knight's back, they ran into the enemy's hidden base. Now Arthur couldn't offer his own in exchange. And catching himself thinking that, Arthur suddenly realized just how silly that was. He was disappointed he couldn't be ridden? Men are clearly very weird when the opposite sex is involved.
"Well, we can probably take them out quickly. The issue is getting into range... If my daughter was here, that wouldn't be an issue. But I don't imagine any of you are good with illusions?" He looked over the team. "Yeah, didn't think so. Hm..."
Observing the structure, he looked for weaknesses or blindspots they could use. But the structure was small and a person covered each side. This wasn't a videogame so it's not like they could just whistle to draw someone over. But during his observation, something caught his eye. A subtle detail. The way the snow was lightly falling off the roof.
"Heh, I have an idea. I'll make a snowstorm to cover our approach. They'll never see us coming. Unless..." Unless they were prepared for something like that with heat-vision goggles. But not to worry. "We'll ride in on ice platforms. If we stick low to them, we can hide from thermal vision if they have it. Then we just drop in behind them and take them down. You guys up for it?" He asked as the snow started moving. Snowflakes rose and fell slowly and started swirling as if carried by the wind. Their numbers grew with every passing second. --- Nothing attacked while they recuperated and the group quickly moved on. Their next obstacle was less dangerous but far more annoying. Aaron took off his jacket and carried it in his hands so the thorns wouldn't rip it up. More importantly, he kept his eyes wide open during the trek.
"Don't let down your guard. This is more dangerous than it was before." He knew about many plant-related fae that could've just as well have made the path seem overgrown to lure them in this direction. If they relax, they might just find out what a spiked collar made of thorns feels like.

“...thank you.” Jun blushed and accepted the coat. He was definitely flirting with her. She had no idea how to respond to that. “I think it’s wonderful. You often complain of loneliness. The attention of another human should mitigate that.” The Shattered One spoke in her mind. “But I don’t have time for romance right now. I’m in the middle of my training.” She mumbled back, glancing at Gan. He was certainly cute though. Classy too. She could feel the stitchwork on this coat. Jun’s pace was measured as she crept through the brush, avoiding any embarrassing trips or stumbles.
The trip through the undergrowth was uneventful, and they soon emerged on barren sand. Green waters stretched out before them, a great crescent of ocean cutting into the land. Far out to sea, great sails stuck up from the waves, Gan’s height and half again. A shoddy raft lay on shore, offering a shortcut to the opposite shore. From there it looked like a short walk over the scrub to the roots. “We aren’t riding on that.” Jun had only an incredulous glare for the boat in front of them. “Agreed.” Wilson stalked around it, keeping his distance like it would bite him. “It would certainly be faster. And the ocean reminds me of the cover to that book you like.” The Shattered One helpfully reminded Jun. “It’s not worth it with those things out there.” She looked out at the strange sails. Just what did they belong to? They reminded her of some chameleons she once saw with weird ridged backs, just bigger in every way.
“Forsooth, there are many! Do not worry, for I have a plan!” The gingerbread knight raised his mace to Osechi’s face. “Kindly hold still!” He squirted frosting in two wiggly lines, creating a massive false mustache on her lip. “A disguise!” He proudly declared, leaving Dan blinking. “But they already don’t… I vote on Arthur’s plan.” Dan turned and waved for Arthur to go and a snowstorm began to whip up. “Oh. I just wanted to help.” The gingerbread knight’s body tilted forward, putting his facial slit towards the ground. “Oh, don’t be like that. Here, I have a plan.” Dan put his hand on the knight’s shoulder.
“But The Thing is set in Antarctica. Total opposite side of the planet.” One soldier, leaning on the door, tried to mime a globe with his hands. “So? Look, we know there’s at least a few monsters like the Thing around, and where better to store them than here? That Huntsman whatever, I bet he’s what burst out and the boss is after him.” Another waved excitedly. “Please, if the Huntsman could make a hole like that the HWIC would have put him down years ago.” “He blew up Alcatraz!” “That was Gen Shishioh! Every spirit boxer belongs in containment if you ask me.” “Not here though. Because this is where they’re keeping Huntsman.” “God dammit, they are not-” “Guys! Weather’s picking up! Think they’ll cut our shift?” One soldier gleefully rubbed her hands together.
“Probably not. We’re already short-handed after the accident and the men who chased that knight.” The soldier leaning against the door squinted out into the blizzard, night vision kicking in but not helping very much. It could handle the darkness, but it was no use against the sheer mass of snowflakes in the way. “Aw maaaaaaan, I’m freezing. It’s not like anybody’s coming here anyway.” The soldier hopped up and down, rubbing her arms in a vain attempt to get some warmth into them. “Orders are orders.” The door guard shrugged, lowering his gaze just as something came speeding from the storm. It was a pack of unknowns, all with ridiculous frosting mustaches adorning their faces. “Tally-ho!” A man in a denim jacket yelled. “What the fu-” Was all the furthest guard could say before his fist caught her and slammed her into the door with enough force to dent it.

Despite being called the God of War, his heart skipped a beat when he saw Jun blush, he truly wanted to know more about her. Even though she was being polite, she somehow seemed distant. she also was seemingly...talking to herself?
As they finally came through the thorns Gan looked at the shore in awe, he did not expect to find large water bodies in here, hell there was even a raft tempting them to cross! the real problem were those things underwater, they would probably turn that thing to shreds alongside anyone in it. He slightly laughed when Jun and wilson said they would not board.
"Well yeah, that thing looks like a one way ticket to the Darwin awards"
Gan turned away from the boat and walked next to Jun, who seemed lost in her thoughts again.
"Is...something troubling you?"- He asked her, wondering if something had happened. It was probably none of his business, but she did look at him back there and mumbled something, maybe she was the type to think out loud?
Osechi had heard comments on her weight more times than she could count. no matter how much excersise she did, there was always someone pointing out how much heavier she was than the rest of the girls. it had become...tiresome. thus, she didnt stop to listen to Arthur's apology, which could have very well been more bashing for all she knew.
"I very much do!"- Osechi replied to Caroline without a shred of embarrassment.
As they finally came down to attack the group Osechi's "disguise" had completely disappeared, she quickly attempted to dropkick the same guard Dan had attacked and quickly ran behind Caroline
"Go get them!"-She told Caroline, waiting for her to take out another guard so she could dropkick them again.

Guess we'll have to give you a hand - The blue bird said as it transformed himself in the angel, with his white wings being seen by the people. If they could pay really enough attention to them, some had little strings of rainbow colored, like the small reflection of a diamond.
I'll teleport two of you - The ex-paladin said - Gallerian can carry two more with his hands - He went closer to the rest so he could perform the small plan they had... that was it before the other opened his mouth
... Doesn't this sound extremely easy? Like... I fly, you can teleport... There may be a trap.. - The angel complained, crossing his arms as he ttried to observe the whereabouts and looked at the ocean.
Vladimir didn't respond to that, maybe the other was right... but the idea of taking the boat was a big no, he gave that to Jun.

Arthur’s threat of a prank war only made Caroline crane her head back at him amusingly. “I would love to see you try. I am quite observant, I’ll have you know.” Sticking out her tongue, Caroline winked at Arthur and turned her attention to the situation at hand. While the mustaches seemed hilarious, they weren’t a particularly good plan for sneaking up on a bunch of mercenaries. Erin nodded toward Arthur after the knight expressed his...plan.
“I uh...agree with Arthur’s plan too. I think that’s a majority…” Looking around, Erin saw that Dan and herself agreed with Arthur’s plan, while Caroline appeared to be on board as well. Once Arthur whipped up his snowstorm, Erin prepared to run toward the group of soldiers...when her wrist was suddenly grabbed and pulled to meet Caroline’s face.
“Figured you might want some help getting over there. Hope you don’t hate me after this!” Winking, Caroline wound her arm back and threw Erin toward the soldiers. The entire experience had Erin stunned in confusion. Who just grabs someone and throws them like that?! She managed to summon her scythe just in time to smash against the soldier’s helmet she was aimed at.
Following Arthur and Osechi, Caroline wound her body back and shot herself toward another soldier, aiming to grab one of their legs and whip them down to the ground face first. Her long tongue flicked up to bring some of the frosting into her mouth that the knight had placed. “All yours~!” Caroline called to Osechi in a singsong voice.

It seemed everyone liked Arthur's plan more than the gingerbread knight's. Not sure why, the knight's plan was flawless. But Arthur wasn't gonna complain. He focused on raising his snowstorm, then they dropped in on the henchmen. While Dan went for a simple punching strategy, Erin and Caroline went a bit more flashy and Arthur wasn't gonna be outdone. As soon as he reached the guard, he did a flash kick to launch into the air, then bounced of an ice platform to wrap his legs around the guard and piledrive him headfirst into the ground.
Assuming everything went according to plan, Arthur dusted off his hands and said: "Good job everyone. I see Dan even improvised a battering ram." He swiped a bit of uneaten mustache from Caroline's face with his finger and ate it. "Knight, wanna lead the charge?" --- Aaron had to agree with the rest of the team. "That piece of crap will sink before it even gets to the monsters. We're taking the long way around." He ignored the old man and the angel. IN their old age, they clearly forgot why they came here by plane. You can't teleport around the north pole.
"Can you see the land path we need to take from here? It'll help us not get lost in the jungle."

“Hm?” Jun jumped slightly when Gan directly addressed her. They had been orbiting each other this whole time, but not fully come together for a real conversation. As they walked alongside the beach now, she looked sidelong at him. “I’m not thinking about anything in particular, I think.” She glanced ahead, seeing Wilson turning to watch her and Gan. She gave him a thumbs up and he mutely nodded, looking back at the path. “Sorry, he’s protective. He just wanted to make sure I was alright. He’s one of the most capable people I know, just not much for conversation.” She sighed before chuckling, covering her mouth with her wrist.
“Ah, I’m sorry. You’re the only person here who seems like decent company, I should make a greater effort to make conversation. You seem like quite the interesting man, Mr. Tengri, and certainly one of taste. Where did you get this coat?” She asked, fluffing her own ripped coat, wishing she could show off as much as she’d like. Wilson just looked confused. Jun was in a world he couldn’t access right now. It always bothered him. He just had no interest in forming a conversation. Instead, his attention was on the forest and ocean bordering them. There were thousands of things that could be lurking around them. Things he had never hunted before. It was certainly a fascinating idea.
Dan hopped down from his ice floe, swinging his arm to work out the pain of hitting so hard. He was grinning as his opponent stood. “No, seriously, what the fuck was that?” She whipped up her gun like lightning, but Osechi came in right behind Dan and dropkicked her with her full weight and momentum. She was slammed back into the door again, denting it further and even putting two roughly foot-shaped dents in her chest armor. The soldier fell with a crackling gasp, catching herself on hands and knees. Dan kicked away her gun and knocked her flat with a rabbit punch. These guys were tough, but to Dan that just meant you had to be relentless. Hit them until they can’t take it any more. She wouldn’t have the chance to attack again if he had his way.
Erin’s schythe hooked her chosen target right around the helmet, shoving him backwards and scraping along his visor with a hideous metallic scream. “Less swearing, more shooting!” The leader yelled, but before he could follow his own advice, Arthur was upon him, legs wrapped around his chest. He was flipped upside down and piledrived right into the snow, leaving him momentarily stuck. His arms battered at the snow until he formed a large enough hole, angrily firing off a machine gun from his prone position, trying to riddle Arthur with bullets.
Caroline similarly stuffed a soldier into the snow like an odd plant. Instead of shooting, this one threw a spiny sphere as soon as his arms were free. It hissed, spitting smoke for a few seconds as it sailed towards Caroline and Erin. It took a few seconds before it exploded in a smoking, burning inferno, completely erasing the snow underneath in an instant and flooding the battlefield with steam. “The charge has already been lead well, but I shall assist as best I can!” The knight marched straight through a barrage of bullets from the last standing soldier, walking right up to him. The soldier tried to back away, but he was too slow. The knight’s mace came down across his face, driving him to his knees. It came up again, knocking him on his back with a smash to the chin.
The knight chuckled, twirling his weapon like a baton. Before he could bring it down again, a bullet ripped straight through his torso, throwing shards of gingerbread onto the soldier’s body. “Ah! Trickery!” He declared, diving for cover. “Cover provided. Get off your asses.” An unseen figure spoke to his comrades from a distant hill. A snow-white scope turned to target Osechi, locking right between her shoulder blades. “I’m taking out the dropkicker.” He informed his allies before pulling the trigger.
