"I know you can turn invisible, Victor." Cherry grumbled, glaring right through Victor. As Victor approached the end of the tunnel, he would start feeling tiny, thin threads if his armor wasn't too thick to feel such things. Just one or two were no issue, but it wasn't long before he would find them accumulating thicker, especially right in front of the cave's end, where a full sized web blocked the opening. If Victor touched it, he would find himself stuck tight to it, trapped for the dark creature lurking right above.

"Whoa", thought Victor. "Looks like I'm not the only invisible thing here." It had been hard to notice at first, but now he was aware that he had walked three, four, maybe even five steps inside of a tunnel-filling web. Maybe a giant spider was nearby?
"Cherry", he cried, "there's no point in being invisible now". He turned visible. "There's a web that grows thicker the further ahead we go, I bet there's a giant spider nearby. And I... kinda... Stepped into it. Sorry. I'm not trapped! But maybe she knows we're here." Victor came from a partially Hispanic family, so many times his world was gendered and didn't find much use for the person "it". Tigers were male, spiders were female. His staff was male, he thought as he materialized it. He took a step back, just to check that he could, and then prodded forward with the staff.
Couldn't blame a man for prodding. How thick was this thing? How sticky? How strong, could it be cut? "Hey, Cherry!" he yelled again. "Why don't you take a look on your Pokédex and see if it tells us anything about this thing?"

Cherry saw thin threads swaying as Victor returned, sticky strings draped over his armor. "Hmph." She huffed, hovering past. She couldn't see the spider itself from before the web, now clearly visible in the light she gave off, sticky droplets shining green. "There are tons of spiders in places like this, I don't know which. Watch my back." Cherry pulled a knife with a serrated blade from a sheathe on her belt. She began sawing at the threads, shaking the web. Slowly a leathery brown spider lowered itself on the web towards Cherry, extending a long clawed leg down towards her.

Aaand that was Victor's queue. "Cherry, look out!" he said, and with a swift movemente, stomped on the spider's leg with his blunt staff. He quickly moved the staff to just one hand and lift the other one to the height of his head, making a claw that showed five shiny, sharp, metal fingernails. He felt ready to react.

Cherry looked up and saw the hairy limb descending for her. She yelped and ducked away, leaving it open for Victor's swing. The leg snapped with a sound like a stick breaking underfoot and the spider retreated back into its crevice to glare down at them. "Poor thing. I hope that grows back." She had nothing to feed it and they were ruining its web! She would have to come back tomorrow with a bird or something to make up for it. She finished her work cutting the web apart and began herding the zombies through, the spider just staring hungrily from above. Cherry took a deep breath. Fresh outside air cleared out her lungs.
They stood low on a mountainside now, Eos awakening on the horizon behind thick forest. Cherry sat on a rock as her friends stumbled down the mountain. It was nice to relax after this whole mess. "Uh, Victor. Thanks. I don't think I could have made it through will all my friends if you hadn't helped." She reluctantly praised the foolish knight. "Don't let it go to your head or anything, but you're not a terrible knight. But you need to learn to think instead of just doing sometimes!" She couldn't resist adding reproach in her praise.

"Hey!" Victor smiled greatly. He couldn't believe it. "We're... we're done, right? We've done it!" He was so happy he let her remark slide; besides, it was so true! "I'm glad I could count on you during all of this. So, what do we do now? And what's gonna happen to them zombies?"

"Of course you could count on me. This is my job. Now bury yourselves!" She called out to the crowd of undead. Immediately they all put their shovels to the ground and began digging themselves graves. "They'll stay here until the HWIC can make a deal with the moles. Then I'll come back and move them where they belong. Don't worry about that, Friends of the Dead and the HWIC will handle all that. But before you return to your home, I have a token for you." Cherry reached into her pocket and pulled out a little square of cloth, a lime green handkerchief. Upon it her phone number was embroided in gorgeous, looping font. "If you ever need my help, you can call me. Somebody like you clearly needs it." She smiled and pulled a scroll from the same pocket. Upon being opened, the text upon it glowed brighter and brighter until it culminated in a flash and she was gone.
