Cherry seemed to glow brighter with the compliment. "It's nothing. Seriously, just a by product of the real power." She smiled broader than she had at any other time since Victor had met her. "Dangerous? Hardly. My zombies are perfectly well behaved and obedient! They wouldn't decay if I didn't give the word." Back to being indignant, Cherry hovered farther away to survey the cavern. The waterfall came from a thin slit in the ceiling a human clearly couldn't fit through, even a small one like Cherry. Only two paths were open to traversal. One was wading across the underground river the waterfall became to enter a tunnel on the other side. The other was following the river a bit downstream to where another dropoff made another waterfall. It would be hard getting the zombies down without injury, but mole people were also poor climbers. With that in mind, they likely didn't have any more troops that way. She hovered over the river, annoyed at another path split so close to the first.

"You think that my tiger could fit that tiny slot...?" Victor started to say. Then he simply expelled the armor, and Tigerbot climbed up and tried to enter through the path that was so tiny not even Cherry could enter.

"Well maybe, but nobody else could." Cherry didn't look back, not thinking Victor was actually trying something so pointless. As they spoke, the crevice grew rapidly darker for the robotic tiger. If the tiger didn't have its own lighting, it would be blind within the first dozen feet as the crack turned, cutting off Cherry's meager light. If it was blind, it would crash into the pale thing lurking at the end. If it crashed into that blind beast, it would find itself in venomous pinchers attempting to pierces what it thought was a smaller crawler's exoskeleton.

The flat thing in the shallow tunnel held antennae thicker than Victor's arms to the walls of its crevice. It could feel the smaller animal approaching and acted accordingly. Its body's width filled the tunnel nearly entirely and there was no room above it, so the only place for the robot to dodge was backwards when it scurried forward and snapped venomous pincers for its prey.

Victor felt a faint rumble. "Cherry. Something's wrong. Something is wrong with Tigerbot". He dematerialized his staff and held the mole's spear up, right towards the opening of the crevice. It was a interesting sight, a thirteen year old boy in an underground cavern holding an iron age- looking spear, in plainsclothes. Suddenly Tigerbot bursted out of the hole, leaping, split apart in mid-air, and formed the armor around Victor. Something was wrong indeed.

"Oh, dammit Victor." Cherry groaned when she heard the scuttling sound from the waterfall's entrance. "WHY DID YOU SEND YOUR PET IN THERE!" She yelled as a massive centipede, pure white except for its bright yellow legs and red pincers, came writhing out. It lowered its antennae to the ground for a second, then turned to Victor. It lunged for him while the zombies stood utterly still at Cherry's command. It snapped for his head, slashing with its bright pincers.

Victor leaned back a bit and held the spear pointing right up towards the monster's mandible!

The creature didn't stop, the spear glancing off the pincer. "You dope! It's a Crevice Crawler! Meaning a huge centipede, and centipede pincers are just venomous limbs! Go for the joints!" Cherry's face was deep in her palm, eyes peeking at her cellphone through her fingers. This guy was a pain in the ass.

"Do you have like a..." Victor struggled around the creature's jaw, trying to pierce it on the side - "...dungeon Master's guide about this place?" Victor swirled around and got a clean hit into the creature's joints with the spear. The creature tried to bite his leg. "WHY IS THERE A WHOLE UNDERGROUND MYTHICAL ECOSYSTEM BENEATH MY TOWN AND I'M JUST FINDING OUT TONIGHT?!"

"I have Google." Cherry waved her phone, watching Victor battle with disinterest. "There's mythical ecosystems everywhere. You're just blind to them." The creature bled thin green fluid when it was stabbed. It silently squirmed its antennae and crawled back. This food wasn't worth it. "Would you stop messing with the wildlife? And help me pick a path! I think we should go down the little waterfall. Mole people can't climb. But neither can zombies, so maybe we should go down the tunnel across the river." Cherry hovered back and force to investigate the paths, but her light didn't go far.

"I'm... sorry, I can't remember what the hell are we supposed to search for down here!" said Victor, wiping green goo off his armor. "I'm not too worried about either moles or zombies, to tell you the truth. It's not as if I'm worried about escaping them..." He sighed. Then he remembered, and hurried to add: "Oh, right! Zombies are on OUR side now. Yeah, I get you. Sorry. Look, to tell you the truth I kinda had enough of mole people for a while. Let's go down the waterfall? Though I wonder, if they live down here, aren't we going to just find more of them eventually? Is there a mole city?"

"We're bringing the zombies to the edge of town, out of mole territory." Cherry hovered off the waterfall and the zombies began to follow. It was slow going with their stiff bodies and uncoordinated limbs. Several times she was forced to save them from falls they shambled right into. A half hour of annoyance later, everybody was safely at the bottom with a minimum of missing limbs. "There's a mole city, but this isn't the way to it. This is untamed territory. You know, monsters and whatever. But that's what you're for! Forward, knight!" Cherry attempted to push Victor before her. Before was darkness and wet stone, glistening like glowing slime from an 80s toy in Cherry's light. The river was broader and deeper here, joined by small tributaries from tunnels to small to crawl through for a rat, but just the right size from smaller crevice crawlers.

Victor felt he was catching up to something. As he followed Cherry, he talked.
"Aha. So let me get this straight. Mole people didn't like the corpses of our town all near their underground territory. So you turned them into zombies to move them around. And, I guess, stop a war with the Mole Kingdom? What I wonder is, can't we, like, just destroy them all and call it a day? Like a forceful cremation or something? You know, there's a lot of people that simply want to turn themselves into ashes, after their last day."

Cherry glared at Victor like he had just ripped the head off of a puppy. "THESE ARE MY FRIENDS! HOW DARE YOU!" Cherry screamed like a hurricane, hovering right up to yell right in Victor's face. "You appologize to them RIGHT NOW! We're not taking another step until you do!" Cherry's glow called attention to the little peaks in the water as something shifted in the river. Something hard and armored looking shifted just below, and the crew was dangerously near the edge of the river.

"Quick! In the water!" Victor said, and pulled Cherry away from the shore. He had turned invisible without even noticing. He materialized his staff and tried to prod away as many zombies as he could, to get them away from the shore. "Guys! I'm sorry if I hurt your feelings! I'm new to this! I'm not a racist - um, a... vitalist! Now get away from the water, something is coming!"

"Don't touch me!" Cherry loudly complained as she was drug away from the water. "It can't come out here anyway!" Pale antennae waved just below the water's surface. "It's an aquatic amphipod. We just have to avoid the water." Cherry steered the zombies away from the slippery edges of the river and they continued along. "Shouldn't be much further now..." Cherry guessed, glancing around. She actually wasn't sure just where they were. The cave was still just as black and gaping.

"Well, I didn't know that!" Victor yelled. He sighed, and caught his breath. "Okey. This is what we'll do. You leave the zombies here, for a couple days, they're probably gonna be fine. We go back to the city and organize one of those 'Zombie Walks'" via Facebook. We get them out in the daylinght, pretend they're just regular people, like really good actors, march them to the edge of town, and then bury them. It's... failproof."
"Then again, if you prefer we keep dungeoncrawling, I guess we can just... keep walking following the river? It's bound to get us to the edge of town. There IS a river nearby, and there are creeks and ravins on the outskirts of the town, you know, even inside the town in three or four places, mostly entubed. I even found my robot-tiger-armor-pet on one of them, half buried. This one should converge into one of them eventually."

"What? That's stupid." Cherry crossed her arms. "We can't leave them unattended here. And people will notice the smell. You ever tried to cover up a rotting corpse's scent? It's impossible! I suppose I could deflesh them... If I had my equipment and three months!" Cherry shouted. "Cut your stupid attitude and march!" Cherry hovered on, not caring if she was followed or not. The zombies clambered behind for another few miles of darkness before the slightest bit of light besides Cherry's became apparent. She hesitated as a silvery opening came into view. It didn't look like there was anything else here, but Cherry wasn't risking it. "Victor, check out the exit." She hovered down to sit crosslegged on the ground. Let him handle it if he was so smart.

It took Victor a moment to respond. "Whoa, sorry for spacing out just there. Let me see this up close..." He turned invisible and came nearby. "Hey, you can hover. I had forgotten. Neat. So, um, yeah, I'm invisible now, remember?" he whispered, actually he half whispered, like he started loud and then he remembered he was trying to be stealthy, so he toned it down real quick and finally trailed off. And he looked through the crack.
