Gen rushed outside, frustrated about not being able to hit Camilla. -FUCK!- He exclaimed. -I’ll check what the fuck was that!- As he left the tent he encountered a very dazed Goemon Williams and passed him, but before leaving he stopped and returned, punching the massive man right in the chin and downing him. Gen smirked looking at his fist and muttered with relief. -Still works.- As if he remembered what he was doing he rushed outside and popped his head out from the tent. Looking around he saw the large chasms opening across the camp, swallowing tents whole as if they were the mouths of ancient monsters buried deep beneath the surface. -HOLY FUCK! WHAT THE FUCK IS GOIN’ ON ‘ROUND HERE!- Gen shouted, shocked upon seeing the devastation, but lacking the perspective to realize what was going on.
Inside the tent Mizuki phased through the shrieking Camilla, still grabbing the wound inflicted by John and screaming her lungs out. Her movements had lost her prior grace and ethereal nature, her muscles bulged against her skin as she spasmed from shock and pain. Camilla didn’t seem to care about either of them anymore, her eyes locked on her wounds, bulged out from their sockets as she took steps backward and mumbled. -No...no… the… world… no… everything… no…- She seemed incapable of perceiving anything but pain. Her wounds had gotten surprisingly dirty, with dust and small pieces of cloth inside them, it was quite curious if anyone managed to notice. John's next attack hit her again, his claws drawing lines on her skin. Another set of rumbling and quaking below them started just as his attack connected. Camilla fell to her knees, as the ground kept shaking. Gen from the other room shouted. -FUUUUUCK! THE GROUND IS FUCKIN' SPLITTIN' APART! WHAT THE FUCK!?-
Callis glanced at Alex with empty eyes. His usual bright blue eyes were dull and lifeless, lacking any reflection or brightness. He stopped walking when Alex grabbed him, but he didn’t seem to register anything he was saying. Before the HWIC Member could say anything else the high pitched scream of a young child cut through the rumbling of the sundered ground. -MES! HELP ME!- It was Callis Nomene, at least the version of Callis living in this universe. He was hanging from the ledge, barely able to grab a couple of roots coming out from the cracked ground. New cracks started to appear, crossing over the ones already open. If Alex or Callis didn't do anything, the kid would slip and fall into the abyss.
-A group of intruders and self-proclaimed “heroes”- The Herald went the extra mile and even did the air quotes, speaking with a mocking tone. -They’ve taken a prisoner from this facility and are attempting to escape.- He explained as he made some vague gestures with his hands. -What the hell is he doing?- Falken whispered to Garo while elbowing the Old Archer on his ribs. Garo glared at the Psycho Cyborg and then proceeded to ignore him. The Herald was gesturing towards a user interface nobody but him could see and finally he revealed what he was working on. Several photos, taken inside the Dimensional Waypoint revealed the targets to Eve’s Group. Photos of Callis, Mizuki, Alex, John, Gen, and Jose were revealed to them. The Herald swiped over Jose’s picture. -This one is out of combat, so let’s not worry about him.- Garo recognized Gen instantly, as the Hot-Blooded Boxer was one of the last students he had on Inazuma. Falken noticed Callis, as he encountered him years ago, during a botch job. And surprisingly, Angelico, who was slowly coming out from shock, pointed at Alex Miyata and spat on the floor.
-One of the Fuhrer dogs of war? What is “Der angekettete Jagdhund” doing here?- He was still quite shaky and confused. Garo shook his head. -You’re incorrect, that man is Alex Miyata, from the HWIC.- During his JHWAB days, the Veteran Hunter shared his organization’s mistrust of the Miyata clan. Falken added while pointing at Callis. -I know that bloody guy, he uses swords, pretty nasty customer, almost lost a hand fighting him and that annoying Cowboy.- The Herald, after letting all speak, resumed his explanation. -Currently, they’re inside one of the universes, so we cannot reach them, but I’ve set their exit point here, we can ambush them and kill them quite easily.- He glanced at them to see if the mention of killing unnerved them and finally added. -Then I’ll give you what you want and let you go.- Falken relished the idea of killing people. Garo, on another hand, walked towards Eve and covered his mouth whispering as he gently turned her around, huddling up. - I don’t like this Harper-dono, I’m up for killing monsters, but this isn’t why I sign, plus I’m pretty sure one of the targets, Gen Shishioh, was already presumed dead before we got here, so he must be the “prisoner he mentioned”- The Herald couldn’t hear their conversation, as his current body lacked enhanced senses.

Eve nodded her way through the list, not recognizing anybody on it. The only one she had met was Alex Miyata, and even that was absurdly brief. “The Miyatas are Nazis in your universe?” There was the promise of laughter in her voice. Of course, the only one she knew was Aria. Maybe Alex was different. Eve tilted her ear to Garo, listening to his concerns. “Yeah, that sounds about right.” Apparently they weren’t too attached to their prisoner if they wanted Eve and her team to kill him. “You know Garo, if you don’t like it, there’s a contract that you can consider null and void.” Eve winked and tapped her pocket. “Lost a hand? Can’t you just make a new one? Or just pop it back on, like me.” Eve twisted her hand, drawing attention to the fight they had only recently won.
John balked when the earth shook and Mizuki once again passed through Camilla. This was no longer a fight he wished to pursue. “I’m afraid I cannot bring you to justice. I cannot kill you, and we have no way of containing you. All I can do is ask you to reflect on the scars we leave you and do something better with your life.” He threw out his blue fire and created a ring around her to contain her while he and Mizuki fled and charged the other direction. He came spiraling upwards out of the tent’s entrance, spotting the gaping chasms in the earth. His eyes instantly found his talons, still dripping with Camilla’s blood. Just what were they actually dealing with here? He folded his wings and dropped, landing next to Gen. “Come on, the door’s that way!” He pointed back at the other Gen’s tent.

At the realization that her blades had phased through Camilla's body, Mizuki tucked her body into a ball and rolled across the ground, quickly getting back up to see John's claws strike Camilla again, creating more rumbling noises. She then watched as Gen fled the tent to 'check what the fuck was that', then shouting that the ground was splitting apart. "...I guess that answers one question..." Mizuki mused to herself, sheathing her daggers and turning her attention to Camilla. John had already addressed her...and it seemed unwise to keep attacking the person who seemed to be keeping this world together. How was this possible? Was this entire world some kind of...pocket dimension tied to Camilla's body?
Seeing that John was dealing with Gen, Mizuki sprinted out of the tent and saw the scene between Alex and Callis. The Enforcement captain looked down with surprise at how the young boy hanging from the roots addressed him. "Mes?!" Alex asked out loud. His attention shifted to the adult Callis in front of him, then at the boy once more. There was only one person Alex knew of who addressed people that way...and he was standing on the ledge. Holding his other hand out, Alex summoned 2 chains from portals on either side of the young Callis, aiming to wrap around his waist and begin to bring him onto the ground once more. "Just hang on! I'll get you out of there!" He called down.
This situation had gotten entirely out of hand. People were dying in these chasms, even if he managed to save a few people with his chains. He repeated the same tactic with the others; using the chains to pull them back onto safer ground, then release them. Once the young Callis got back onto land, Alex would grab the arm of adult Callis and firmly pull toward the starting tent. "There, run along and get to safety! Mr. Nomene...we must leave now! We can discuss your mental hangups in there!" Alex ordered, feeling a sense of satisfaction that he had become the quasi-leader, now that Callis had gotten semi-incapacitated. But it was still right to make sure everyone got back alive.

-Is the principle, sweet cheeks!- Falken exclaimed, opening and closing his fist. -Can you imagine how much of a blow my bloody rep would take if a furry motherfucker and a nobody cowboy managed to take my hand off?- The Psycho Cyborg spat on the floor, frustrated. -A bloody disgrace!- He spat again and kicked one of the closed doors. Garo shook his head in frustration and continued whispering, his back turned to the Herald. -I don’t wish to rescind my contract with you Harper-dono, but you assured me I wouldn’t have to kill humans if I wished it.- The Old Archer was sad, split between his loyalty and his morals. -I will help you to fight them, but I won’t kill any of them, even if my life depends on it.- He took a small pause and added. -Unless one of them is a monster.-
Angelico replied to Eve’s question. -The Miyatas are collaborationist, just like the Yasumori Clan in Japan, with that devious old man Haigo leading them.- The Phantom Thief seemed to be almost as pissed as Falken was. -If we fight them I would consider it a favor if you grant me the task of facing him.- His sudden influx of killing intent was quickly cut away by a smile. -I know he might not be the same individual, but just seeing his face makes my blood boil.- Falken chuckled. -I vote for him to handle him, I want to shoot the furry fucker.- Garo sighed. -I think I can talk down Shishioh.- The Herald smiled. -I can help using my current form, as is quite efficient, I can take on either the Assassin or the Demon Hunter.- He took an elegant bow directed at Eve. -I place my skills in your hands Ms. Harper. We should get ready, they'll arrive any second now.-
John’s fire worked wonders to keep Camilla contained, but it also added problems. The pain caused by the heat made her trash around, her wounds opening even more. The large chasms on the ground kept expanding and as Alex’s chains were almost reaching this universe Callis, the young boy slipped as the floor he was holding on to cracked and split apart. -AAAAAAAH!- The kid screamed as his tiny fingers slipped away from the floor and the chains missed him for cms. At that moment time stopped for Callis. The Beast Knight empty eyes focused on the kid. As memories flood his mind. From his times on Centris as a child not older than this one. His failures while attempting to learn magic. The bullying and abuse he suffered. His years as a guard upholding the law and his years as a Knight serving his country and later his world.
Who are you Callis Nomene?
He thought as he saw his doppelganger fall towards an unending abyss. Are you a warrior? Are you a knight? Are you a mercenary? Who are you? What is your destiny? What is your calling? This avalanche of inquiries rushed his brain and he remembered conversations, actions, emotions. Pain and suffering. Who is Callis Nomene?
Without even thinking it, Callis exploded into action, and before he realized what was happening he had jumped into the abyss, grasping with one hand Alex’s chain and with the other the shirt of his counterpart. -I got you!- He proclaimed as he realized something deep inside him. Mizuki called him a Martyr, but Callis was something else. He wasn’t just a man who saved people, because he could. He did it because he liked it, he did it because to him it meant something. He wasn’t a zealot or a fanatic. He had strong impulses towards good. To help others, even when he didn’t get any help while growing up, maybe because of that. Callis wanted to change the world to stop from anybody suffering like him. He might be called idealistic. But for the first time, Callis actually knew what he was. A realization he tried to push away, thinking it to be arrogant or untrue. Not valuing himself as he should.
Who is Callis Nomene?
Callis Nomene is a hero.
-Mes Miyata! Please pull me up!- Callis shouted, as blood trickled down his hand, closed around the chain. Every one of the Dimensional Travellers felt the “DING” that pointed out their time in this Dimension was complete.
Gen, rushed alongside Mizuki and John, jumping over one of the chasms and entering into his counterpart’s home. -C’mon let’s fuckin’ move!- He shouted, lifting Jose and putting him over his shoulder. -This whole fuckin’ place is fallin’ a-fuckin’-part!- He noticed, and surely the others would, that a curtain of blue fire was surrounding the camp and the stench of burnt fabric was reaching their nostrils.

Eve ran a low noise through her throat when Garo didn’t quite pick up on her hint. “Well I can assure you, you will be fighting a monster.” She glanced at the Herald. If he didn’t get that, he wouldn’t get anything. “I want you to the front and side. We’ll draw their attention and you flank them. With your power, they won’t have a chance.” Eve directed the Herald to a slightly more secluded spot, where he would have a clear shot at coming from behind or the side. “And none of you move without my cue!” She glared at Falken and Angelico. “If Falken shoots without my order, shoot him in the back. I’ll deal with Angelico if he steps out of line.” She disliked relying on violence to keep her team in check, but this wasn’t her regular team.
John stared out at the wall of flames blazing around the camp. “Wait, did I do that?” He looked down at his taloned hands, watching them shrink down to normal. He dropped his demon form entirely, returning to something that would pass for human without his wings and tail out. “Okay, I definitely did that and don’t want to learn how that works.” He had to hold back from rushing to save the civilians panicking around him. There was very little he could do to stop the carnage, but that didn’t make him want to try any less. All he could do was wait for his teammates to come. He only retreated when they did, staying at the back to defend against Camilla if she gave chase.

Alex’s eyes widened slightly when his chains missed the falling boy by mere centimeters. He was about to turn around and write him off as dead...but Callis’s sudden action made Alex continue staring at the ravine, looking on with a mixture of surprise and respect. “...you’re a damn fool, mr. Nomene.” He muttered, the tone of his voice not of disgust, but of mild respect. While he would train his own agents to not do something this stupid, it was still admirable when the move didn’t result in two people losing their lives.
When he retracted the chains, Alex swung both Callis onto the ground with a little more force than was necessary, walking up to the two of them afterwards, and placing an arm on the younger Callis’s shoulder. “Can you walk?! We all need to get out of here, now!” Alex said with urgency. The area now resembled a warzone with the amount of destruction, a strange smell accompanying the horrid scenery. What was that…?
Mizuki glanced at Alex as she ran for the door. That was all she needed to ascertain that he didn’t require help and she ran on. Mizuki darted right past Gen and dove for the door, pausing next to it with her knives drawn. You were useless today. She thought at her daggers. Just why was John able to hurt Camilla? Why were Gen and her entirely ineffectual? She had never faced something like that. “Move.” She shoved open the door and waved everybody through, taking one last glance at the burning horizon before retreating. The feeling was...nostalgic?

-Sorry, I’m exhausted and old.- Whispered Garo, finally realizing what Eve told him, before following her instructions and taking his position, readying his bow. Garo was looking at the door, but his instincts and ki sensing were mostly centered on the Herald. -Yes, “mom”.- Falken mockingly accepted her orders moving to the designated position. -Mmmm Eve as a Milf… that does bring a bloody smile to my face.- He added as a whisper to himself. Angelico also prepared, and as soon as he reached his position he took an elegant bow. -Don’t worry about me Signorina Harper, I won’t disappoint you.- He winked elegantly and summoned a couple of rose vines that rolled around his forearms. The Dimensional Vampire smiled. -I can do that, let me suit up.- Energy swirled around the Herald, not Ki, but magical energy. At first, it was barely visible and blue colored but soon it sparked into volcanic red.
Magnus Ignis: Flamma Lancea (Noble Blaze: Flaming Lance)
The magical energy spun into a long whirlwind. The Herald sunk his hand into it and pulled a long spear with a red tip with shining golden and copper veins through it. The spear was set ablaze as soon as he moved it. He gathered more energy, this time showing some signs of strain and chanted another spell.
Magnus Ignis: Draco Iorica (Noble Blaze: Dragon Cuirass)
This time around the fire surged around him and gathered on his forearms, chest, shoulders, waist, and shins. Elegant scale armor, sharing style, and color with the spear equipped on his body, protecting his vital areas. The armor had draconic designs. -I’m ready, just give the word oh, mighty leader.- The Herald took a fighting stance, ready to hit anything that came out the door.
Callis smiled, so much his cheeks were kind of hurting, as he was being lifted by Alex. -Thank you Mes Miyata, we're okay.- The Beast Knight smelled the area and pointed to the south. -Mes Nomene.- He spoke to the boy who looked at him with his bright blue eyes opened as much as they could. -Gather anybody alive and tell them to run in that direction.- The kid nodded, tears still flowing, but a resolute glow was coming out from his eyes, the same one Callis had right now. The kid rushed away but before turning around a corner he asked. -What’s your name Mes?- Callis smiled even more and said. -My name is Callis Nomene.- And rushed towards the door. The kid was left confused for a second and then rushed away realizing he didn’t have the time to consider the importance of this meeting.
Gen decided to give his counterpart a good kick in the stomach for good measure before leaving. The mere sight of him disgusted him. The Hot-Blooded Boxer followed Mizuki through the door.
As soon as Mizuki entered the Dimensional Waypoint the Herald exploded into action. -I’ll see your body burn into cinders!- He roared as the pommel of his heavy spear blasted a jet of flames propelling him forward. Garo looked in Eve’s direction waiting for orders. Falken was ready, with his Godai Pegasus Crossbow aimed at the door and Angelico was surrounded by more vines, ready to use them against the incoming enemies.

“Both things I will forgive you for.” Eve winked at Garo and turned to the doors across the room. Her cannon was a little bit overloaded. She felt the weight of that extra gunpowder weighing on her arm. She could seriously hurt herself if she pushed it too far, but this much provided the edge she needed if she didn’t keep doing it. They only waited a minute more.
The door appeared and the enemy team stepped through. “I just don’t know why only my attacks- everybody down!” John’s wings flapped, throwing him high over the Herald’s attack. He spotted the squad across the room from them and pointed from the air. “He has friends this time!” He might not have been entirely right there. “Open fire! Everybody kill the Herald!” Eve roared, firing her own cannon at his back. She made sure that they had his attention when she pulled the contract from her pocket.
“Herald! A contract signed under duress is null and void!” She dramatically ripped it in half and threw the ruined paper in the air, hands out in a showman’s posture. “Sorry Angelico, we’re not killing the Miyata. If it makes it any better, you can kill some Nazis when we get to my dimension.” She smiled back as she waved to the other team, trying to make it as clear as possible that they were on the same side.

When the two Callis split from each other, Alex folded his arms and began to jog towards the tent the others were headed towards, making sure to open portals and save anyone he could see still hanging onto the edges. He briefly considered going back to make sure the Harukos were ok...but remembered that they weren't his world's Haruko, and definitely not their Yamiko, who was a volatile sociopath who needed to be removed from Haruko's body as soon as possible. While he didn't know much about separating being like Yamiko from the host body, he did know some HWIC scientists were working to minimize the influence she had over Haruko. If only Aria wasn't so soft...we could just keep Haruko in a controlled environment so there is no possibility of someone getting hurt by that monster. He thought to himself.
At the Dimensional Waypoint, Mizuki heard Herald's scream and immediately sprang into action. Why do people announce their surprise attacks…? The young assassin thought to herself. Due to her trained reflexes, Mizuki was able to dive out of the way of the Herald’s attack and stand back up on both feet. Before she could attack the Herald though...her eyes fell upon Eve. A deep glare spread across her face as Mizuki tightened her grip on her knives. “...why…?!” She softly seethed. She looked exactly the same, even if the clothes were different. Instead of shining, high-tech armor, she had that purple coat and ridiculous hat. The cannon wasn’t a terrifying gold-highlighted railgun, but Mizuki could see the base form that could give rise to it. Her face was smoother, not marked by machinery hidden underneath, but it was the same face. The Mercenary Queen stood before her in all her steeled glory.
It took a large amount of willpower for Mizuki to not rush over and decapitate the Wild Hunt leader where she stood. Her usual blank-faced facade had turned into a seething glare, Mizuki holding her arms down to try stopping herself from doing anything rash. “It’s not the real one...different version...not the same…” Mizuki slowly said to herself. In her surprise at seeing Eve, she had almost forgotten about the Herald and his attacks, the young assassin also tuning out Eve’s conciliatory gestures. Alex was quickly approaching the door while these events played out.

-Yes, Harper-dono!- Garo smiled and turned around launching half a dozen arrows in the span of a second. The Old Archer was pretty tired and hurt at this point, but the mere idea of killing this monster revitalized him, made him feel like a young man again. He aimed for the charging Herald’s back but his arrows didn’t pierce the armor. Not only that, but they were set aflame by the blazing corona surrounding the Dimensional Vampire. Falken didn’t shoot at first, taking the time to complain, bitch and moan. -So we’re breaking a contract? How bloody unprofessional of you sweet cheeks.- And after that, he unleashed his Godai Pegasus Crossbow, faring much better than Garo, launching a high-speed projectile that pierced the armor and managed to wound, superficially, the Herald’s body. The Dimensional Vampire was too focused on his charge to care about their betrayal and as Mizuki dodged to the side and John soared over the incoming lunge, the only one remaining on the doorway was Gen, with Jose on top of him. -OH FUCK NO!- Without any other resource, Gen poured all his might and strength and swatted the shaft of the spear with Jose’s body.
If Falken and Garo didn’t attack the Herald, he would’ve been charging at max speed, but the minor discomfort caused by the Old Archer and the bleeding wound created by the Psycho Cyborg, slowed him enough for Gen to react to his attack. Since he was aiming to skewer Mizuki, the Herald had put a lot more of weight on the spear and ended up flatfooted once his attack didn’t connect. This allowed Gen and his improvised weapon to push the spear down, forcing the tip into the floor. The whiplash caused by the shaft arching under pressure and then snapping back into shape launched the Herald backward, but he managed to land without any issues. The Dimensional Vampire looked around and glared in Eve’s direction. -I won’t forget this Harper! You cursed treacherous witch!- He shouted as a pillar of flame covered him for a moment and then he was gone. Alex and Callis were the lasts to come through the door, which closed behind them. The Beast Knight looked at the other group perplexed. -So, who are you?- His eyes scanned the area until locking on Falken. -And what are you doi… FALKEN DEGIRAZ!?- Callis summoned two blades which he picked up.
-Everyone, do not lower your guard.- He pointed at Falken with one of his swords. -That man is a wanted criminal.- Callis seems to be reinvigorated on his determination to be a Hero and finding a truly despicable man right after this personal realization seemed to be almost a godsend. -Lower your weapons surrender under JHWAB authority!- He asked Eve’s crew, his blue eyes sparkling with white lightning.

“Please, that wasn’t a real contact. He would have killed us if we refused. Tried, anyway. And what did I tell you about calling me sweet cheeks?” Eve growled at Falken. Before she could give him some very condensed sensitivity training, the Herald was gone and it was the leonine man causing trouble. Eve’s first instinct was to hand Falken over. He really came across as more trouble than he was worth sometimes.
On the other hand, she already had dead weight in Alex and they had their own unconscious member, only good as a bludgeon. A cuffed Falken, well, he could probably get out easily enough, but she really didn’t want to deal with the hassle. So it was a different tact. “You fucking moron, this isn’t our Falken Degiraz! He’s from an alternate universe. We picked him up in here.” The best lies had a little truth mixed in.
Across from her, John landed next to Callis. “I don’t know if she’s telling the truth, but I don’t think picking a fight is worth it. These are the first extradimensional travellers we’ve found in here who could be friendly. Attacking them will just weaken both of us if that guy comes back.” John glanced around like he might teleport back and chop all their heads off. “Although I admit, their reputations aren’t the best.” He recognized Eve at first glance. The Wild Hunt was well-known to bounty hunters for their unscrupulous hiring practices. Somebody like Amai or Huntsman would have been drummed out of even the Artemis branch years ago. Even so, he found himself straightening up, brushing bits of threads and dirt that had found their way to his chest away. He gave the Wild Hunt captain a winning smile, earning a somewhat confused smirk in return.

When Alex and Callis arrived on the scene, the surprise attack had already begun. He stepped through a portal and appeared next to Mizuki, who couldn’t contain a smirk when Jose was used as a makeshift weapon against the Herald. Her darkened expression returned when she realized Eve was still in the room and was talking about how...this ‘Falken’ wasn’t the one from this timeline? What would happen if someone from one of these realms joined them?
Alex’s eyes narrowed when he noticed his normally stoic agent become agitated at the sight of Eve. Why didn’t she like the leader of the quasi-legal Wild Hunt organization? “...is there a problem, Mizuki?” He asked with a small amount of suspicion in his voice. Mizuki attempted to relax her body to try returning to her usual demeanor...but Alex could still see the hint of animosity in her eyes. “...no issues.” She replied curtly. Alex wanted to delve further into this issue...but the battle was currently the group’s more pressing concern.
While he didn’t want his subordinate to go after Eve...Alex shot a glare in Falken’s direction. Eve was talking about how he was from ‘an alternate universe’, but that seemed incredibly suspect to the Enforcement president. Given Wild Hunt’s track record, he wouldn’t put it past them to try hiring Falken into their organization. They already employ two other known criminals, Huntsman and Amai. The sight of the criminal makes Alex restrain himself from going after him right now.
With the Herald gone, Alex heard how John didn’t believe their little tale either. This was good; having more support if he decided to arrest these people would make things easier. He walked up to Eve and offered his hand to shake. “Alex Miyata, captain of the HWIC Enforcement division.” With his other hand, Alex showed his credentials to back up his claim. “I overheard you say this isn’t the Falken Degiraz from our current universe?” He shot a sideways glance at the mercenary. “...do you have any proof for this claim?” Alex asked. He needed some basis for this claim, for it would be unacceptable to be in the presence of the Falken Degiraz and not attempt to arrest him for his numerous crimes.

Callis, upon hearing Eve, gradually lost his resolve and John’s words ended up calming the fire burning inside the Beast Knight. Gen, still a bit shaken, fell flat on his ass. -FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK- He let out a long curse, almost like a wolf’s howl. This got Garo’s attention who thought to himself. “Yes, he certainly is Gen Shishioh”. The Old Archer pulled some of his charms and bandages from his first aid kit. -I’m going to help you out Shishioh, tell your friends not to attack me.- Garo lowered his bow and moved towards Gen and Jose with both hands up. Carrying healing charms and his first aid kit on each hand. -I know this old dude, he was a teacher in Inazuma.- Gen finally realizing who he was talking to. Callis lowered his sword, that turned into particles of light and looked at Eve, sharing the same thought as Alex. -Yes, is there any kind of proof for your claims?- He asked.
Falken realizing the situation he was in, lowered his gun and raised his hand. -Yes, I come from one of these doors, these fine gentlemen and ladies helped me out of a pickle back in my world…- He made a dramatic pause, his performance almost flawless. -I couldn’t stay back in my world with my arms crossed while they suffered perils on their journey, so I asked to accompany them, to pay my debt.- Falken was laying it thick. Garo had to make a conscious effort not to roll his eyes. The Old Archer placed charms on Gen and Jose, while also rebinding the bandages around Gen’s head. -You okay Shishioh? What’re you doing here? You’re supposed to be dead.- Gen shook his head. -Is a fuckin’ long story Takayama-sensei, I’ll tell ya everythin’ once we get the fuck outta here.- Callis was trying to find out if Falken’s words were honest, but many of the indicators he usually used to find out were missing on Falken, who was more machine than man.

Eve kept a perfectly straight face while Falken spoke only by virtue of currently lacking any flesh on her head. Even so, it took all of her prodigious will not to laugh. “Is that not enough? He seriously won’t stop talking like that.” She sighed in feigned exasperation. “But seriously, how would you prove it? Do you have anything that can check what universe somebody’s from? Do you know anything about Falken that he couldn’t just lie about not knowing?” Eve paused, tapped her chin, and pointed at Garo. “Got it. Garo would never cover for Falken. This Falken is from another universe, right Garo?” Eve hoped Garo’s reputation as an honorable JHWAB agent and Inazuma professor had reached the people here.
Garo looked at Eve for a second, keeping his emotions in check. He knew that telling the truth might plunge them into another useless fight, one they wouldn't win. So against his better instincts he kept his poker face and nodded. "Yes, he is from another universe." Technically he wasn't lying.
John was ready to get Gen off the ground, but Garo had that handled. His eyes kept flicking over to Eve. Beautiful! Hard steel and soft skin, what more did a cambion need? “I didn’t expect to see the Wild Hunt here. What brought your fine organization to these strange halls?” He asked Garo, trying to get some information before he became too distracted to gather anything.

Eve's response made Alex squint his eyes in suspicion. It was odd how she asked them if they had a method to prove which universe he was from, a device that Eve knew they likely didn't have. When she turned to Garo and asked for his take, Alex's expression softened slightly. Garo did seem to be slightly more credible than both Wild Hunt and the potential serial killer before them. When Garo replied that he was from another universe, Alex's eyes squinted once more. There was still little evidence that this wasn't their universe's Falken, and he still considered the prospect of letting the wanted criminal walk when he was in the vicinity to be unacceptable. But they were still in this strange limbo region...and he didn't want to start another fight right now when he didn't know when the end was. Nodding his head, Alex spoke to Garo. "...I will accept this for now. Just know that I will be watching you all." And with that, he walked to investigate the area the Herald had previously inhabited.
Mizuki, meanwhile, had only slightly grown accustomed to being in the vicinity of a person who may one day become the Mercenary Queen herself. Would it really be a bad thing to kill this woman right now? Considering her air of authority, she was likely the leader of this rag-tag group that was following her. Killing their leader probably wasn't the best course of action right now. Putting away her daggers, Mizuki nodded at Gen's statement and motioned toward the rest of the room. "...he is correct. We should find our way out of here quickly. We don't know how time affects this place relative to the rest of the universe, so we might have been gone for months on the outside." The thought didn't affect her much, but Alex's expression became a glare at the idea. He abandoned the spot and began to investigate the rest of the room. "...that is unacceptable. Let's move out, now." He ordered sternly, Mizuki complying and investigating another part of the room.

-We’re on a mission, what else?- Garo replied to Johnathan’s inquiry as he finished Gen’s bandages, offering a hand to the boxer, who took it and stood up alongside the Old Archer. -We were hired to look for some artifact inside this place, but we’ve been jumping from Universe to Universe, we’ve seen some really, really unnerving things.- A goosebump crossed over Garo’s shoulders, shivering for a second remembering the tentacled monster on the bathhouse planet. While he talked Angelico moved towards Mizuki as she investigated the room. -Signorina, who’re you?- He deeply bowed. -I’m being blinded by your beauty and I would love to hear your name and surely melodious voice, so once my sight is gone I can still recognize you.- He was laying it a bit too thick.
Falken, enjoying this more than he thought, sent his lowered weapons back into the arsenal and walked towards Callis with a warm smile. -You look like a man I knew back in my world.- He faked remembrance as if he was trying to place Callis’ face. -Are you by any chance the illustrious Knight Callis Nomene?- He asked feigning interest. -I’ve only heard about you from afar, I’m just an officer of the law, but I know of your exploits, or at least the exploits of your counterpart from my universe if you’re anything like him I cannot think of a better man to help and trust.- The Psycho Cyborg was barely containing his overwhelming desire to summon a weapon and shoot Callis point blank, as the Beast Knight seemed to be falling for this hook, line, and sinker. -Oh, thank you for your praise, I hope you really are who you say you’re.- The air around Callis went cold as the white Gainen energy appeared on his eyes.
-Because if you are not telling the truth the only way you are leaving this place is on chains.- The momentary killing intent vanished as suddenly as it appeared. As Alex and Mizuki looked around a single door became solid and slid towards the main area, ready to be open. It was a simple dark wooden door, with half busted hinges, some not even connected to the door and a single worn out golden lever with an equally worn out circular plate with a keyhole in the middle. The door seemed to be quite mundane and a cold breeze came from below the door. Callis turned to Alex. -Did you find anything Miyata-dono- This would be the last door for both groups.

“Somebody hired you? We were responding to a distress beacon ourselves. I figure in both our cases, it was a trap.” John sighed, running his hands through his hair. “I’m not sure why anybody wants us here, but they sure got us.” He sounded oddly relaxed for a man who knew he was in a trap, but that was just John’s way. Flexibility was his nature. He had to stifle a laugh when Angelico began flirting with Mizuki. The phantom thief had less propriety than even a half-demon.
He was less amused by Callis’ threat to Falken. “Come on, we’re all trying to get along here.” He walked in between the psycho cyborg and holy knight. “It’s alright. Our universe’s Falken is a real piece of work. I’d let Callis arrest him, honestly.” Eve smiled down at John. “Looks like the last door showed up.” She glanced off in Alex and Mizuki’s direction.

Alex scanned the room, finding nothing much to note in the strange void space before he stumbled upon the door that slid itself into the main area. "...so much for that." Alex muttered to himself. He hated how he had next to no agency in this entire expedition. If this were on Earth, he could at least use his portals to leave for a few minutes to gather intel, or get supplies from one of the HWIC's bases. And the only agent he had with him was a new hire who, while skilled, was still shrouded in mystery. The background search the Intelligence division performed on her didn't yield many results. This wasn't uncommon for Hidden World individuals who are secretive by nature...but something about this girl still seemed off. And now they were probably in the presence of a dangerous criminal in the form of Falken Degiraz. Next time, he would bring more agents to a task like this.
Meanwhile, Mizuki stared blankly at Angelico as he began to flirt with her. Looking him up and down, he seemed to be the stereotypical dashing man that women probably fawned over. But the way he was coming on this strongly made Mizuki squint her eyes slightly in suspicion. "...my name is Mizuki. I work for the HWIC. And you are...?" She thought about putting on an embarrassed facade, making him believe that his flirting was working on her so he'd lower his guard...but at this point, Mizuki just didn't care anymore.
"Yes, I found something." Alex called over to Callis when he asked about his findings. The door looked simple enough...though the age made him wonder if it would be like that snowy cabin they had just encountered. He stood by the door and motioned toward it. "Is everyone ready? We have no idea what is through here." He said, hoping to have someone go through first and be the sacrificial lamb should anything dangerous be on the other side.

-I’m Angélico Della Rosa, sweet signorina, lover, poet, and Phantom Thief, at your service.- He did a very elegant bow, taking out his hat as he did. He had some bandages on his head, but he had kept his good looks and good spirits through the whole dimensional skipping ordeal. -I must say I’ve actually seen several universes, but not seen beauty as yours anywhere.- With a flick of his wrist, he made a red rose appear on his hand and extended it towards Mizuki. -Take this as a present to honor our meeting and as a thank you for shining the exquisite light of your beauty over my humble self.- He took a deep bow again.
Falken kept his cool, not wanting to give Callis any reason to doubt him. If he was going to fight Callis Nomene, he would do it on his own terms, and most likely from a distance.
Callis nodded at Alex’s call and walked towards the door. -I will open it, please take the rearguard.- He proclaimed as his hand closed around the worn out lever and lowered it. A faint click, the loose locks of the door hitting the side, accompanied the action. The door was barely hanging to the frame, only a single latch kept it in place, the one on the middle of the frame. As the door opened a very faint light came out from the crack, artificial light. The Beast Knight summoned a white blade from thin air as he kept opening the door.
His eyes caught a glimpse of a very soft green wall and a dark brown curtain, the room seemed to be relatively small, at least compared to most other places they arrived through doors. It was roughly 6x3 mts, with a white ceiling, green wallpaper on the walls and wooden floors. To the right of the door, there was a bed against the wall to the right. In front of the door, there was a desk with somebody typing on a computer, back turned to Callis. The Beast Knight looked around the room, not noticing anything out of normal and decided to get the attention of the inhabitant.
-Disculpe. (Excuse me)- Callis cleared his throat surprised as he was talking another language, surely his translation spell was bridging the linguistic gap. The man sitting on the desk turned on his chair with an angry expression before shifting into utter and complete shock, lifting one finger and pointing at Callis with total surprise. -No queremos molestarlo, pero debemos entrar a esta habitación por un segundo, le ruego que nos disculpe, le explicare todo en un momento. (We do not wish to disturb you, but we must enter this room for a second, I hope you can forgive the boldness of our actions, I will explain everything in a moment)-
The man was around 30 years old, heavy set and wearing shorts and a t-shirt. He had short brown hair, a goatee, mustache and sideburns. He was still quite shocked by the presence of a stranger on his room and barely managed to whisper in total shock. -Callis Nomene?- While pointing at the Beast Knight, who opened his eyes with equal surprise. From behind Callis, Gen, who had walked towards the door shouted. -WHAT THE FUCK IS GOIN’ ON!? KEEP MOVIN’ YER ASS!-

What is...going on here…? Mizuki thought to herself as she stared blankly at Angelico as he flirted with her. She had never seen someone be this forward with someone they barely knew. Her mind immediately flashed to the people she suspected would put on this kind of act...people who wanted to distract an unsuspecting maiden long enough to take their wallet or purse. Or perhaps lure them away and sell them into slavery. Even if this man was simply an over enthusiastic flirt...the sirens had already begun to blare in her head.
Regardless, Mizuki took the rose and put it through a loop in her pants meant to attach a pouch to. “...You’re...welcome…?” She said with confusion. How were you even supposed to respond to that? Was he only flirting with her because she was the only one here without a Y chromosome that isn’t a shapeshifting monster? This entire situation was just bizarre.
Luckily for Mizuki, the group seemed to move toward the door and had begun to file through. “So...door’s open. We should probably check that out.” Mizuki told her overt admirer. Alex, meanwhile, squinted at the small room in which they arrived in. The sudden shift to Spanish made him turn his head in surprise.
“...when could you…” He began, then realizing that Callis probably had some sort of translation spell. Of course, he came from another dimension himself! There was no possible way he could have learned English or Japanese this quickly. While Alexi couldn’t understand anything that was said in Spanish, he did hear the man recognize Callis.
“Shut up, boy.” Alex coldly told Gen as he moved through the doors and took a spot against the wall. The man before him seemed unassuming enough...why did the door take them here? It was certainly less fantastic than the other setting they’d visited along the way. Motioning toward Callis, Alex folded his arms across his chest. “Unfortunately, I am unable to speak Spanish. Would you mind asking who this man is, and where we are?” The HWIC captain asked the Beast Knight.
