-I’m trying to help you Mizuki…- The Old Man in White talked with a faint and hoarse whisper as if the last gasps of oxygen were escaping his lungs as he did. -I’m the only thing that is keeping my world alive if you kill me…- He stopped talking and let out a couple of bloody coughs. -My world will collapse with the monster inside because as we speak he must be reforming.- The Old Man weakly shook on her arms. -If you don’t kill me I’ll stay alive, in this pitiful state, forever.- Seemingly whatever cursed him wouldn’t let him die from natural causes. -I’m already 300 years old, I’ve served my rest… And you can help me with that.- He pointed at the door. -Somebody close it before he returns. Callis, now paying attention to the Old Man jumped into action, moving towards the door with the intent of closing it. The Beast Knight pushed it in, but when he was about to close it, something blocked the door. Callis peeked through the ajar door only to witness the Herald in another form, this time around a buxom woman, half naked and covered with flaming red hair. Without losing a second the Beast Knight summoned several blades to prop the door, trying to block it from the inside, like some desperate anti-siege measures. He started pressing his whole weight against the door. -HELP! HE IS TRYING TO GET INSIDE- He shouted, as even with all the precautions he took he was being pushed back. -I'LL KILL YOU ALL! YOU HEAR ME! YOU'LL CURSE THE DAY YOU WERE BORN!- The voice of the Herald was clearly feminine and had a supernatural echo behind it. Clearly he wasn't happy after being destroyed by Jose's fist.
Garo rushed towards the unconscious Angelico, whose right side was hanging off the edge of the building. The Old Archer slid on the ground, reaching the Phantom Thief before he slipped off. -Got him!- He shouted, turning to see Eve’s shooting the Alien Overlord. -Pointless!- He uttered with total confidence, lifting his hand and morphing the gravity field around him to block the incoming slug. The field managed to negate the momentum of the projectile, smirking with arrogance. -As always, the people in this mudball don’t know a God when they see one.- But this confidence proved to be his undoing, as focusing his defense to hold Eve’s attack, left him open to Alexander’s clever offensive move and soon the wires pierced his hardened armored boots reaching his feet. Yet the attack wasn’t as effective as the Grotesque Hunter would’ve wished for since he didn’t take in account that the Kisekian Physiology is sturdier than a human’s, even enhanced ones. If they could survive inside bubbles of gravity it means they are denser themselves. Still, his wires pierced up to the ankles, basically rooting the enemy in place, this allowed a third offensive to start. Music started blasting out of the dropship that started rising in the air.
Powerful winds caused by the lift thrusters of the Shinoda Drop Ship made everyone’s loose clothing wave as the Flying Cathedral rose over the rooftop, spinning mid-air and aiming at the Kisekian. -I’M GOING TO BLOODY KILL YOU!- Falken voice came out from the ship speakers as he turned around, showing the flank of the craft to the Kisekian Overlord and standing there, half scared and half serious was Fumi, grabbing the turret. -NOW GIRL! SHOOT!- Falken shouted and the Smoky Bandit started shooting at the Kisekian. Well “at” is just relative, as the recoil of the turret was too great for her and instead of aiming at the enemy she basically shot in his general direction and when I say direction I mean cardinal direction, spraying bullets all over the roof, Garo had to roll to the side with Angelico to avoid getting tagged. The Kisekian, too confused by the pain on his legs shifted his focus after his field destroyed Eve’s shot, protecting himself from the rain of bullets, yet he miscalculated as he didn’t pay attention to Alexander’s Colt bullet, that was still spinning against his bubble. The moment he lowered his barrier the mystically charged projectile pierced through his back, reaching his chest and coming out from the other side with a loud crack, as his pectoral bone plate, under his skin, was shattered by the empowered bullet. As he fell to the floor, face first, Fumi stopped shooting, not out of choice, but because she turned into smoke out of fear.

John jerked awake when the door was slammed into. "Ah! I wasn't dreaming about the whipped cream thi- huh?" He immediately saw Callis struggling with the door and his feet were moving before his mind had caught up. His strength wouldn't do much in holding it back that Callis wasn't already doing, so he darted around to the side, seeing the Herald's perfect form. "Madam, I apologize that I must do this. However, I will try to remember-" Talons lashed out at her face, going for the eyes. "That this is not your true face, and you may shed your scars as you wish." "Aw, no fair!" Eve stood, glaring at the stopped bolter bullet. All that recoil and it still can't get through! She'd have to shoot at something softer later to justify taking this thing. She was looking for other options when Fumi's mad firing began tearing up the rooftop. Eve dropped to the ground and yelled for the others to do the same, but she couldn't even hear her own voice over the thundering of the guns. When the firing stopped, the scrambled back to her feet to glare into the air. What was Falken thinking, letting the kid handle the gun!? She stopped and looked back down to see the Kisekian lying face down on the roof. With a swift step forward, she brought her foot down at his skull. With how much of a pain in the ass he was, she wasn't taking her chances with him being alive. "Two questions!" She called out to everybody on the rooftop. "One; is everybody alright? And two; do you think Falken can land that thing?" She pointed up at the gaudy flying machine.

Both Mizuki and Alex knew what the old man was thinking of when he explained that he was the only thing keeping his world alive. "So if you die, then so would that world and the Herald inside..." Alex said thoughtfully, glancing toward the door. His eyes widened slightly when he saw the Herald try to burst into the room. "Mizuki, don't sever his limbs!" Alex called out to his subordinate as he summoned a portal directly behind the Herald and shot out 4 chains to try and wrap around his(her?) arms and pull them back into the snowy emptiness. Mizuki was about to take off toward the door...when she saw there was little option for her to help out. Cutting off limbs was both against Alex's orders and would likely lead to the Herald somehow regenerating from the severed limb. Instead, she stayed on guard duty with the old man and glared at the doorway. Alex looked over at Jose and motioned toward the door.
"You have Earth and ki powers! Help force him back!" He yelled at the Earthshaker. Perhaps a ki user could infuse the Herald's body with enough kinetic energy to blast them away from the door.

Alex leaps off the building as Falken's unleashes his barrage. As his feet come of the ground, he deploys his wire threads and quickly makes a shape similar to a grappling hook, and hurls it to the nearby building. His wire thread construct slices though the window of one of the higher floors to the adjacent building he is hastily escaping from. As the wires enter the building they quickly penetrate the nearest wall, when inside the wall, the wires expand in a fashion that appears similar to the roots of a plant as the wires establish a solid foundation to support the weight of the gruesome. Alex proceeds to swing into the building, by breaking a window on a much lower floor with his legs. As he enters the building, he rapidly clicks on a side button on his wire thread, causing the wires to retract back into the gauntlet. He takes a moment to look outside and waits patiently to see if Falken's attack as work. Otherwise he will simple have no choice but to escape. If this Alien survives this assault he knew he couldn't win, and would be force to run away. Even after the smoke of Falken's barrage begins to clear up, the gruesome hunters remains still until he is certain that the Alien is dead.
"Don't you dare kill him!" yelled Jose as he charges towards the door with every ounce of strength his body could muster while being enhance by his Ki. His eyes begin to turn dark red and a faint aura, similar to the glow of burning coal, begins to emerge from the young bounty hunter's body. As he rushes forward he prepares to slam the incoming Herald with his shoulder. As soon as his feels his body make contact he plans to quickly explodes into a basic karate stance to maximum his leg strength as he shoves both of his hands forward as he delivers a double palm strike.

-Land this?- Falken asked mockingly. -I can make a bloody barrel roll if I so please!- The Psycho Cyborg confidence, was for once, well placed, as he was actually controlling the vehicle through his mainframe thus it was like an extension of his body. With that said he slowly controlled the flying Cathedral, aiming it towards one side of the rooftop, but upon thinking about it he decided a different place to land. -MAKE WAY!- He shouted through the sound system as he hovered towards the downed Kisekian Assassin. Garo helped a dazed Angelico to move away as the Psycho Cyborg landed the ship right on top the Alien Invader. A disgusting wet and crunchy sound, like a thousand cockroaches being splattered, came out from below the ship hull, as greenish blood started forming a puddle beneath. A shell-shocked Fumi, with shivering hands, descended the ship followed by Falken, who was grinning like an asshole. -Like I always say “There is no kill like overkill”- just as he said that the chime over the door echoed in their heads as a small green dot appeared floating over it.
Garo, with Angelico on his shoulder, got closer to the group. -So do we take the door Harper-dono?- He asked, pointing at the green door.
Callis tried his best but the Herald managed to push him back, opening the door even more. -I WILL FEAST ON YOUR ENTRAILS!!!- He shouted with fury blazing on the kaleidoscopical tornados that were the eyes of her statuesque female form, dressed only with straps of loose fabric barely covering her body. -YOUR SOULS WILL BE THROWN TO THE VOI AAAAARGH!!!!- She shouted over John’s polite words and didn’t even realize he was close, blinded by fury. The results were quite spectacular, as the Incubus claws slashed the front of her face. Instead of blood, the wounds projected a blast of multicolored energy, a cacophony of noises and myriad of colors blasting off the wounds like technicolor shotgun shots. The energy was more than enough to open the door, sending Callis flying backward. The Beast Knight rolled on his back and shoulder, landing on a kneeling position, looking with terror at the open door and the massive woman behind it, grabbing her face, that kept detonating and allowing dangerous energies to escape. -I WILL KILL YOU ALL!- She shrieked through grunts of pain.
Finally, the Herald stopped rubbing the face of his female form, revealing 4 large gashes slowly closing, contained inside was rainbow energy swirling like typhoons. -NOW I AM GOING TO END YOU AND YOUR MISERABLE CRUSADE!- As she said that Alex chains entangled her arms, locking them in place and pulling backward. She struggled for a moment, pushing back against the force and gradually beating it, but that’s when Callis decided to add his help, summoning 4 blades he sent like alabaster arrows towards the enemy. The Herald prepared a barrier of the same chaotic energy inside of him to block them, but the Gainen Powered Swords curved around the barrier and pierced in-between the links of the chains adding their own strength to the push while piercing the floor to give them more leverage and a point of contact to keep the pressure on the Herald. -You will not prevail today, that world will be your tomb!- The Beast Knight proclaimed as he launched 4 more blades to reinforce the chains even more.
-YOU THINK THIS WILL STOP ME!?- She tensed up her body, muscles starting to pop out, revealing an inhuman musculature beneath her skin. -I WILL BREAK THIS CHAINS AND FEED THEM TO YOU MIYATA BRAT!- The Herald roared while taking a step forward, fighting the pressure of the chains and blades. This was Jose’s moment to strike. The Earth Shaker jumped through the doorway with determination, crashing his body against the Herald, his shoulder getting right into her solar plexus. Her massively enhanced musculature managed to block the piercing power, just like kevlar blocks bullets, but the permeating nature of Jose’s Ki thanks to his Mountain Slayer Fist trainer and his natural ability to sense structural weak points through vibrations, managed to win in the end. The Herald doubled in pain since her force pushing forward made her more susceptible to this kind of attack, maybe the Mountain Slaying Ki had some kind of advantage against the Dimensional Vampire’s kin. Jose continued his assault with a double palm, finally managing to down the Herald, who after tensing up the chains, that were lodged to the ground by Callis swords, basically created a massive slingshot that sent her body careening backward down the cliffside into the frozen river way below their location. She roared in pain as she descended, burning rage on her eyes locked on Jose, the final nail of both her defeats.
-Kill me… ignore what he said… just kill me.- Shiro pleaded, with tears slowly rolling down his sunken cheeks. The cobweb of wrinkles on his face compressed and expanded with each of his pained and agitated inhalations and exhalations. -You won’t defeat it, you can only stop him… Please kill me.- Behind Mizuki, another figure was getting closer. Gen Shishioh was standing behind her, grabbing his wounded head and looking around confused. He moved with dazed steps as his eyes looked to focus on something until they found the Old Man’s face. -I know ya…- He whispered while staggering and leaning against a nearby door. -Why’re ya so fuckin’ old?- He asked before sliding down to the floor, landing face first and staying there.

"I'm not even surprised." Eve rolled her eyes as green blood spread over the rooftop, mingling with the red blood of the young soldier who fell prey to the same attack. Their colors ran together, forming brown muck barely even resembling blood. "Yeah. Let's go before more freaks show up." Eve looked at the battered Italian slumped over Garo's shoulder. "What shape is he in?" She felt her own wounds. She had bullets from the big guns the shoulder guys used lodged in her endoskeleton, as well as a section on her left side that was ground away by the chain-lance so that almost no metal stood between her organs and the open air. "This place was nasty. I want to rest here until Angelico's up and wake. Kid, check those bodies before we go. The ones not under the flying thing. They might have medical supplies." She suggested as she opened the door, pushing Fumi towards the mutilated space marines lying around the roof.
John was sent rolling by the burst of energy, coming up slower than he usually would. His collarbone screamed in protest at the act. His starvation was continuing to build. Despite this, he lunged forward to wrap his tail around Jose's waist, attempting to him away from the door while he slammed it shut. His sinuous tail wrapped around it, keeping it shut (hopefully) and keeping himself upright.
"What's he talking about?" He glanced from the old man to Gen. The question was about both of them. He was too distracted by pain and hunger to really grasp any of their words. A hopelessly goofy grin was overtaking his face every time he looked at Mizuki. John needed somebody else's energy, and she was the only suitable target here. He couldn't help being a sinner when lust and gluttony were the same!

With no signs of retaliation, Alex assumes that Falken manage to defeat the Alien and begins to make his way back to the group. Using his wire threads to increase his mobility the gruesome hunter quickly catches up to his comrades as they are preparing to exit out of the green door. As he walks forward, the ghoulish looking man takes a moment to study this world one last time. Wondering if this is also a possibility that their world could very well face one day. Fighting monsters is one thing, but Aliens...in a twisted way, compare to other worlds so far, Alex begins to wonder if they have perhaps one of the better worlds within the greater cosmology of the various planes of existence.
"Damn It Old Man!" yelled Jose as he could hear the old man once again begging for death. He quickly grabs the edge of the door and reaches out to the earth deep underneath the snow. He begins to take a series of deep breaths as he had only one idea to trap the Herald within this world. "I'm not in the business of watching defenseless people die," he said as he grips the edge of the door harder. He gradually begins to close his eyes as his links himself with the earthly material of the silent world on the others of the door. He takes one final breath and slams the door shut, while simultaneously pulling the earth towards the door from the other side with all his strength. Causing what he hopes will be a massive avalanches and rockslide that will crush and hide the door underneath massive amounts of snow and rock.
"Old man," Jose calls out weakly as he is barely able to stand. "Will destroying this door be good enough to keep that Thing trapped in there?" As he asks his question, the earth shaker makes a fist with his right hand and begins to charge up his Ki. Gradually his Ki slowly gathers around his close hand as he prepares to smash the door, yet at the same time the fatigue of controlling so much earth quickly drags Jose into a barely conscious state. Soon enough he will be joining Gen on the ground. Yet before he loses consciousness, he grits his teeth and throws one final Ki enhance punch at the center of the door. Without knowing the result, the earth shaker falls backwards, and loses consciousness before he even hits the ground. Not knowing if his punch even connected.

Alex was preoccupied with channeling his mana into pulling the Herald back with his chains to notice the scene between Mizuki and the old man. A confident smirk appeared on his face when Jose managed to knock the Herald back through the door, John saving the earthbender and slamming the door shut. Alex desummoned his portals on the other side of the door, letting out a small sigh as he glanced around the room.
That took a little more mana than I would have liked. He thought to himself. His gaze soon found itself on Mizuki and the old man. Mizuki was staring at the Herald with cold, emotionless blue eyes. His pathetic state was absolutely sickening to her. Visions of her past began to play out in the young assassin’s mind.
---
She stood alone in her home, Mizuki 7 years younger at 14 years old. She flipped through the channels lazily, the programming not having too much to offer at this time of day. Mizuki’s mother and father had left over a month ago to help out with a ‘work dispute’, telling her to not open the door for anyone but them and their closest friends. They were vague about their jobs in general, but Mizuki knew her mom was an amazing swordswoman, having taught her the basics of swordsmanship when she wasn’t working.
“Man...this is boooooooooring…” Mizuki groaned. When were they getting home? Suddenly, she was jolted upright by a loud knocking on the door. “Hello?! Open up, this is the HWIC!” A male voice yelled out from the other side of the door. Her eyes widened and peered out through the window. 1 man and 1 woman stood at the door, the man having jet-black hair and wearing a simple brown t-shirt and blue jeans, and the woman in a black long-sleeve shirt with brown jacket and black jeans. Neither of them she recognized. “HWIC? That’s where mom and dad work…” Mizuki mumbled to herself. Why were they here?
“I said open up!” The male voice said, this time louder. Mizuki’s heart pounded even faster as she ran upstairs and took out a pair of daggers her mother gave her to practice with. She practically jumped to the ceiling when a loud crash could be heard downstairs, likely the sound of the door being caved in. “Nonononononono…” Mizuki mumbled to herself. Her heart was now beating faster than ever. Were they part of this ‘work dispute’ her parents told her about? Any hope she had that they just wanted to talk went out the window when they broke into the house. Using the skills her mother taught her, Mizuki silently crept out of her room and took position behind a large heater at the end of the hallway. The sound of a single pair of footsteps could be heard, Mizuki preparing her daggers in anticipation. The woman soon appeared at the top of the stairs, glancing around the hallway casually.
“Find anything, Jerold?” She called down the stairs. “Nothing yet!” He called up to her. “Remember; alive!” He followed up with. Mizuki’s eyes bulged once more. “They are here to take me…?” She whispered to herself. Her parents warned her this might happen, that people might try to hurt her. They had left clear instructions on what to do in this unlikely case, though. Gulping, Mizuki crept along behind the woman as she opened another door and searched the guest bedroom for people. Sweat began to appear on Mizuki’s hands as she stood outside the doorway to the room the woman was in. Was she really about to...take someone’s life?! A small squeak escaped her mouth when suddenly, the woman stepped out of the doorway and locked eyes with herself. Before she could even utter a word, Mizuki’s eyes changed to a deep shade of red and time seemed to slow to a crawl for herself. Mizuki closed her eyes and slashed wildly with her daggers, hoping to land as many hits as possible. After what seemed like an eternity of wild slashing, her eyes changed back to their normal blue shade...and the woman fell to a pile of flesh and bone right before her eyes.
Mizuki stood before the pile, horrified at what she’d just done. She had just committed murder...right in her own home! Slowly stepping away from the pile of shredded human remains, Mizuki silently made her way downstairs and peered around the corner to see the man in the kitchen, opening the various cabinets. Trying to push the grisly image out of her mind, Mizuki leaped out and grabbed the back of the man’s neck, slamming it into the top of the cabinet and holding him down to the ground, one of her daggers to his neck.
“Who...who are you?! And where are my p-parents?!” Mizuki weakly asked, her right hand clearly shaking. Jerold kept perfectly still while he responded. “My name is Jerold, alright? We’re only here to take you to a safer place, ok?” He stated. “And my parents?!” She demanded. Jerold let out a small sigh. “I’m afraid they’ve been arrested for treason. I don’t know where they are held up.” He stated. Mizuki stood silent for several seconds. Treason?! But...her parents worked to uphold the law! They wouldn’t break it, and not certainly to that extent! Clearly they were set up...yeah, that’s it! If they had committed ‘treason’, clearly the establishment was too rotten to abide by any longer! No good authority would send two agents to break into someone’s house and kidnap their daughter! Mizuki’s face turned stoic as she ignored Jerold’s questions, stabbing her dagger straight through the back of his neck and severing his windpipe.
---
Staring down at the old man, Mizuki turned the dagger in her right hand around, taking a glance at Gen when he approached. “...sounds like he knew you. Or thinks he did.” She stated. Jose’s punch and John’s ramblings were irrelevant to the task at hand. When she kneeled down to deliver the killing blow Alex’s voice roared out at her. “MIZUKI! Don’t you make another move!” Alex yelled, a chain wrapping around her right hand. When 2 more chains appeared to restrain her left arm, Mizuki leaped off her left leg and let the pass harmlessly through the position she occupied, her eyes flashing red for a second and the chain holding her right arm falling to pieces, the links being perfectly cut. Alex’s further protests were drowned out when Mizuki raised her dagger once more.
“I wish I could have learned your name. I can only hope you find peace in death.” Mizuki stated, before bringing her dagger down upon the old man’s chest, aiming to pierce his heart.

-I think he is okay, just out of combat.- Garo replied to Eve’s inquiry. -I don’t see any important injury and I checked his eyes, he is just unconscious.- The Old Archer looked at the Smokey Thief. -That doesn’t mean you don’t need to get the supplies. We might need them later- Fumi nodded, but instead of going towards the bodies she became smoke, phasing through holes in the ship, as she saw something that looked like a medkit. In almost no time she came out from the door, jogging past Falken who looked at Eve’s newfound weapon. -I downloaded the blueprints for those and a couple more of things from the onboard computer.- He pointed at the Huntress weapon. -Once I decode them I can pass them to you.- He smirked. -For a price.- He didn’t want to hear her reply yet, so he walked back to the Dimensional Hub. Garo followed him, with Angelico, who muttered things like “Death to Fascists” on his sleep. Fumi came back with the medkit, giving it to Eve. It had a lot of stuff that seemed alien and clearly was made for a different physiology.
Only 3 things would make sense. One was a small blow-torch looking object, that had some kind of liquid-filled canister loaded. It might be some kind of high-pressure salve or lotion to put over wounds and clean them. The second object seemed to be a staple gun, surely to close up wounds quick. Finally, there were bandages closed in sterile bags, the iconography on the package showed several things, like fire, ice, lightning and other hazards. They might be some kind of contextual bandages, adaptable fabric that changed properties depending on the kind of wound it was applied to. The rest of the group already crossed the door, as staying in the hub seemed like the best option instead of being in a war zone.
Mizuki’s dagger sunk right into the Old Man’s chest. The steel tip pierced his thin and wrinkled skin, passing through as easily as a rock would sink into a clear lake. Blood slowly sprouted from out of the wound. Shiro looked at her, with thankful eyes, that gradually lost all their light and closed, while his head fell to the side. It was as if time had stopped for everybody. Gen, from the ground, tried to see what was happening, but Mizuki’s body was blocking his sight. Callis, on his knees after the strain he suffered keeping at bay the Herald looked towards Mizuki with a deadly glare. As Shiro’s body went colder and colder, Callis slowly stood up, walking in the direction of the young Assassin. Behind him, the door started to vanish. The Beast Knight continued his slow and painful advance, staggering more than once, limping.
The translucid door started buckling in as if a powerful force was hitting it from the other side. The stone slab started getting cracked, but not fast enough. Callis reached Mizuki, looking down on her with a burning spark of pure azure fury on his eyes. His hands were trembling with rage, while the door kept cracking behind him. Through some of the holes, that lose the transparency of the stone slab around it, pieces of the Herald could be seen, as he frantically attempted to break through. An alabaster blade appeared on the Beast Knight hand, that stopped shivering. He gritted his teeth, baring his fangs, something he always tried to avoid, the blue fire on his eyes slowly turning white. The door behind him was almost gone, with the Herald striking it as hard as he could. Callis raised his arm, preparing to attack Mizuki. -You… you killed him…- He spoke for the first time, breaking the eerie, silence, as the powerful hits by the Herald were drowned out by the silence of the dimension swallowing itself.
-You… killed him…- Blood dripped to the floor, as Callis was gripping the blade so hard he ripped his own skin. The Beast Knight breathing became more labored and heavier, his whole body tensed up and a white aura surrounded his body, and extension of his powers. -You should have not done that.- Callis lowered his blade towards Mizuki, but at the last second he pierced in on the floor right in front of him. He looked away, as tears started rolling down his eyes. The Beast Knight fell on one knee, sobbing inconsolably. He wasn’t angry, he was sad, he was frustrated and not with Mizuki, but with himself. -I should have been the one to do it.- He whispered, finally looking at the young Assassin again. -I beg for your forgiveness Messa Mizuki.- He softly gestured towards Shiro’s body with as much tact as he could. -The weight of this choice was not your burden to take.- He whispered, while breaking eye contact. -I was leading this team, and my weakness allowed this to happen.- He extended his hand, placing it over Mizuki’s hand. -Words fail me to express how sorry I am, taking a life is not a burden somebody so young should take.-
The Beast Knight stood up, walking away, as the door finally vanished for good. With new doors slowly moving closer to them. A beaded curtain covered wooden door, with garish flowers painted on it. A massive metal door with rivets sticking out. A dark wooden door with a simple worn out golden handle and keyhole. And finally, a Japanese style door, made out of paper panels and wood frames.

"Thanks kid." Eve took the medical kit and was immediately baffled by its components. "I'm not complaining that they have pictures, but what are they, toddlers?" She sorted through the contents, find them all unfamiliar. Not that she'd recognize actual medical supplies. "Garo, you're a human. Help me out with these. I have no idea how to treat human wounds. I just... make myself stop hurting." She began to twist up inside. It was a reminder of how alien she was, despite her attempts to blend in. "What's even wrong with him? Is he dented inside?" There wasn't anything obviously damaged on the surface, so that had to be it. Wait, no, humans didn't dent. Bones! Organs! Something like that was hurt!
John shook every time the herald struck the door, but he kept his tail wrapped tight. The portal wouldn't open without breaking his tail clean off. Of course that would be bad, but with a proper meal, he could grow that back as well. At this point further injury wasn't a real concern. He collapsed when the door vanished, no longer supported by it. It look a while for him to see what had happened. Blood soaked through the old man's shirt where Mizuki had pierced him. He stared for a moment, trying to work this through his fatigued brain.
"You killed him?" He knelt beside her, looking down at a face that might have been peacefully sleeping were it not for blood on Mizuki's dagger. Was it right? John didn't know. The Herald seemed unbeatable, but was killing an innocent, even one who wanted to die, alright? His body didn't let him wonder too much, fingers moving on their own to touch Kuro's face. The last trickles of life were snatched away. His collarbone snapped back into place. He was still nearly empty, but he was healed. He withdrew, disgusted with himself for stooping to stealing the last seconds of a dead man to heal himself. "We can't leave him here." He lifted the old man's body, finding him weightless. None of the doors looked like they'd lead to somewhere good to bury him, but how could they let him rest in this void?

Mizuki silently watched as the life slowly faded from the old man's eyes, face unmoving at a sight she'd seen numerous times before. When he finally went limp, Mizuki removed her dagger and turned toward the approaching Callis, readying both of them for an attack. She was taken completely off guard when Callis suddenly began to tear up, becoming sad rather than angry. However, his words made a deep glare appear on Mizuki's face. Taking a few strides forward, steps into Callis's path and reaches up to slap him across the face.
"...are you honestly that selfish?" She began. "Do you think you are the only one here who's taken a life? That nobody else is strong enough to deal a killing blow?" Mizuki continued to glare at the beast knight, Alex folding his arms across his chest from his position several feet away. "And now you have the gall to cry over a missed opportunity to make yourself look like the hero? Let me share a few words of advice...you are not the only one who has experienced tragedy in their lives. How do you think I knew exactly where his heart was? Did you think I was a surgeon in training?!" Taking a breath, Mizuki continued. "If you keep trying to martyr yourself, you will only wind up in an early grave. Now if you are done trying to carry all the world's sins; why don't you climb off that cross, use the wood to build a bridge, and get over it." And with that, Mizuki turned and walked toward Alex.
He looked down at her with a frown across his face. "I'm sure you realize you disobeyed my orders, agent." Alex stated. Mizuki nodded her head. "...it was necessary to both destroy the enemy and end his suffering. Is that a problem?" She challenged. Alex's frown turned into a glare. "As a matter of fact, it is! He was the only one we've found who seemed to have information about the Herald and his employer, and we could have gotten more information out of him." Alex said. "He was bleeding from his eyes. The trauma would make any further information unreliable at best, especially for an old man who's forgotten his own name." Mizuki stated. Alex stared for a few seconds at the young assassin. "...and that was not a call for you to make. We shall discuss this insubordination once we get back, understand?" He said, Mizuki nodding. Turning his attention to the doors, Alex deliberately ignores John and points toward the metal door.
"I suggest we go for the metal door. I doubt the flower door will provide any useful information, the wooden door looks too simple, and...perhaps the Japanese door could prove fruitful." Alex remembered how many incidents Callis had dealt with took place in Japan, and Callis seemed to have more to do with this place than he let on, if his realm was anything to go by.

Callis felt dejected, as sorrow crept from the dark corners of his memories, gripping his mind with its dark grip. Mizuki was wrong about him, he didn’t want the glory, he didn’t think himself strong. He knew the sorrow that brought to him taking lives and didn’t want others to suffer the same fate. The Beast Knight sadness gave way to anger and that is a feeling he never processed well. His whole body tensed up, like a coil being pushed down. His blue eyes burned as tears flowed down his eyes. Without exchanging a single word with anyone he sprung into action, moving so fast he became a blur of motion. His sudden dash had an equally sudden stop right in front of Mizuki. Callis expression had changed, his eyes sunken under his brow. His mouth half open, displaying his sharp teeth. His arms tensed up like steel slowly moved towards the Young Assassin grabbing her by the shoulders. He wasn’t gripping, but the ferrous tension of his fingers wouldn’t let her go.
-You listen to me and you listen to me right.- The aura of intimidation Callis exuded was less the presence of a warrior and more of a wild beast. This was the Beast Knight drawing from his Saevus side willingly, pushing away any semblance of discipline and allowing his emotions to run rampant. The fire burning on his eyes contrasted with the rivers of tears rolling down his cheeks. -I’ve killed hundreds. I’ve ended more life than I ever deserved having.- One of his hands pointed at Shiro’s body. -I didn’t know you killed before, but either way, each life is a burden, a burden that I choose to bear and I decide to take when I was placed as leader for this team.- Callis hand returned to Mizuki’s shoulder. -I don’t care what you’ve done, but I don’t wish to stain more people with sin if I can do it.- His tears kept rolling. -I don’t know anything about crosses, but I do know about martyrs, the only few friends I had back in my world died for a cause and I survived, somehow, even when I was less deserving than them.-
-I’m no hero, nor I intend to be one.- Callis tone grew more and more wrathful. -Do not confuse my duties and responsibilities as a Knight and as leader of this group with hubris, because that would be a mistake.- The last word was dangerously close to a threat, as the Beast Knight body grew tenser and started to shake. -I shed my tears for you…- Callis got choked with emotion for a moment. -Now even more than before, realizing you to be so young and carrying such a burden. -You speak of me not understanding others tragedy, but do you know tragedy?- The tears kept rolling. -Have you seen everybody who you ever loved die, in front of your eyes? Or worse turned into undead monsters you had to eradicate?- His grip got stronger and without realizing his claws started to pop out from his fingers. -Waking up in a field covered with dead people who looked up to you and waited for your command, being the only one surviving that, even when you shed your blood and sweat in the effort to save them? HAVE YOU!?- Callis popped his claws out and quickly realized it, releasing his grip and lowering his arms.
-Have you ever been tortured for a whole year, subjected to every possible way to inflict pain just to break your spirit? Not seeing sunlight, being force-fed barely enough to keep you alive?- Callis ripped off his damaged shirt, revealing his bare chest. Scars crossed almost every inch of his skin, burns, punctures, old bruises and more. His chest was a map of suffering, a sample book for torture techniques. -Because I know tragedy I wish others to avoid it.- He lowered his head. -You might have tragedy in your past, but my role in life, my duty, is to help anybody to avoid tragedy while I’m around.- He looked away, his voice becoming a whisper. -I am a Knight, and protecting others is my duty, my oath, my identity.- Callis swept his tears with his hand. -Is everything that I am.- He exhaled defeated. -I deeply lament hearing about your life and your suffering. Accept my apology for not considering it.- Callis turned to face her and his face was the closest thing to complete and utter sadness. In a strange way, he seemed similar to Shiro, his blue eyes carrying the same weight as the Old Man Mizuki just killed. After that passing glance, he moved away from the group, his head and shoulders sunken and his steps short and heavy.
This was quite the day for Callis and he was near his emotional and physical limits. He visited his homeland and actively rejected returning to it for the others. He fought with tooth and nail against one of the toughest enemies he ever faced and heard about a conspiracy far beyond his comprehension.
But after this emotional outburst, something else might catch the attention of the group, as Jose collapsed, falling to the ground. He had been wobbly for a while after his last attack against the Herald. His legs gave out minutes after falling unconscious. He had spent too much Ki between several attacks and he also almost depleted his reserves of Nature Energy. Thankfully he landed on some of the snow brought from Shiro’s Dimension. Gen was right beside him, still out cold as well.
-I think he’s just out.- Garo commented, after checking Angelico. The Old Archer pressed his hand against the Phantom Thief head and sent a pulse of Ki through it. It was an old field medicine trick. -He doesn’t seem to have any internal damage, maybe he just got knocked out by the attack.- The Veteran Hunter lifted Angelico up and went towards the door with the Phantom Thief in a fireman Carry. Falken was waiting inside, lying on the floor, clearly bored. -Can we get to the next door, I want to leave this bloody place as soon as possible.- Garo buffed. -What? Do you need to go meet your boyfriend?- To which Falken didn’t reply, just glaring in Garo’s direction. Alex followed them in silence, looking around to see which doors were the closest, yet none was in range since they needed to close the current one to leave. -Harper-dono, you coming?- Asked Garo, after leaving Angelico resting inside the Dimensional HUB.

"Knocked out? That's bad for his head, right? Should I... put bandages around it?" Eve poked Angelico's skull. Humans were weird this way. So cute on the outside, but all squishy and weird and fragile beneath the surface. So many organs to go wrong, why did they even need that many!? "Come on Garo, that's hardly a valid line of attack. We live in a progressive era. Ask him if he needs to recharge his batteries. Or polish his guns with his dick." Eve offered alternative insults while gently bundling Angelico's head in bandages until he resembled a mummy. "Do these things breathe or does he need an airhole?" She asked Garo as she slammed the open door.
"Guys, can you- guys, please- Callis, I understand where you're coming from, but-" John failed to interject at every point. These two were going to fight and there was nothing he could do about it. It made him itch with irritation. Jose falling was his last straw. "Alright, I'm picking a door without you two!" He walked across the room, studying all three. Alex and Callis could handle Gen and Jose. He had his hands full already. His hunger picked for him when he tried to decide which door to pick. Beaded curtains and flowers spoke of hippies. And hippies meant free love. He was smiling again when he reached out for the doorhandle.

The instant Callis touched her, Mizuki looked up at him with an icy stare from her blue eyes. She had to suppress the natural instinct of grabbing Callis’s arm and putting him into an elbow lock, followed by breaking the humerus bone for a quick disable. Every word that came out of the beast knight’s mouth made her more angry. The way he was speaking down to her, the self-righteous tone of his words, the challenging of her experiences...everything he was choking past his tears was poison in her eyes.
First off, his tone was condescending throughout the speech. Challenging her level of suffering compared to his by ripping off his shirt to display his own scars, and how he ‘shed his tears for her’. The sentence that struck her the most was ‘have you seen everybody who you ever loved die, in front of your eyes? Or worse, turned into undead monster you had to eradicate?’ There was actual truth to her having experienced this. But before she opened her mouth to challenge Callis, she stopped herself.
It wasn’t worth it. If she threw off her shirt and displayed her own web of scars, what would that accomplish? It would lead to another instance of two people trying to one-up each other through their own misery. No, there was another way to respond to this insult. “You say you aren’t a martyr, yet protecting people from suffering is everything you are?” Her eyes fixated upon the beast knight. “You don’t know who I am, or what I have have been through. But I will have you recognize that I need none of your self-righteous ‘protection’. For I have experienced more of those events than you would think possible.” She coldly stated, turning her back and walking toward the door John was near.
Alex stood by in silence. While he did think Callis was self-absorbed in his own heroism, Mizuki was dividing the group unnecessarily. Chains pulled out of nearby portals and wrapped themselves around Gen and Jose’s waists, pulling them toward the door. “If we are done fighting here, I suggest we move on before more of us are incapacitated.” Alex said. The two of them stood by, waiting for John to open the door, Mizuki’s peripheral vision fixed on Callis in case he tried to rush her again. If he got close, she would respond in kind with self defense, whether he wanted to simply hold her shoulder again or not.

Jose remain silent and unconscious from his exhaustion. Yet as he eyes close he found himself drifting in open air, then suddenly he is overwhelm by the sensation of falling. As he falls he attempts to look down, curious of where he would land. The earth? Water? Maybe something else? Regardless he is anticipating to hit whatever awaits him at moment. However as he falls forward, the clouds around him appear to be dropping faster then him. Though his body feels as if he is being pulled down, his eyes are tricking him into thinking he is soaring higher and higher into the sky. The temperature would change too rapidly as well for him to ever become comfortable. One moment it feels as if he is standing in a desert, the next he feels as if he is bathing in icy cold water....
Alex remains quite as he waits for the group to decide the next path to take. Though he didn't show any emotion at this particular moment, the gruesome hunter is gleefully waiting for the next world. Hopefully one that wouldn't endanger his life as quickly as the last. He prefers to take his time in a new setting before engaging with others, especially if they turn out to be opponents. Though he couldn't help but have a nagging feeling in the back of his mind that something is off about this scenario. Wondering if there is any patten to their progress through this inter-dimenionsal lab.

Callis was done. His eyes sunken down a very heavy brow. Not even a spark of light escaped from underneath the shadows covering them. He felt numb as if his body wasn’t his own anymore. The Beast Knight felt terrible, he didn’t usually lose his composure like that, it was unbecoming of a Knight. He had the look of a defeated man, his shoulders sunken, his hands hanging uselessly at his sides. Maybe she was correct, maybe he had been overly concerned of following his code and not bothered in living. “Did I make the wrong choice?” Callis asked to himself, realizing that his way of life wasn’t living, or at the very least he couldn’t just shield himself on his identity. He became a Knight in Centris to survive, to have a life. But in this world what was the point of being a Knight? What was the point of following his oaths if nobody actually did apart from him? He even broke some of them this day, refusing to stay in Centris when he could’ve done that. Confusion brewed inside his mind. Until something got his attention. For a moment he stopped feeling sorry for himself as at the corner of his sight something moved or at least seemed to move.
The Beast Knight turned to see the piled snow, a mound of immaculate whiteness still towering at the side of the stone door. Something moved, he was sure of it. Callis walked towards it, but a new, much more powerful sensorial assault hit him like a hammer. John had opened the door and burst of exotics scents filled the Dimensional Hub. Without any attempts of elegance, Callis pinched his nose, trying to fight off the spices and mysterious smells coming from inside the door. John, who was standing right in front of it, could see inside. It was a circular room, covered in multicolored patchwork fabric and pillows. A rustic wooden table with old paint peeling off was the centerpiece of the room and sitting on it was a man, dressed in flowing white clothing, a bit tattered and unkempt, with long and shaggy black hair. Upon hearing the beaded curtain he turned around with dazed eyes. He had a very long and messy beard. -Far out maaaaan, I didn’t know that door opened to a white void… Mmmm… What rhymes with void? Might be a goooood word for the next poetry jam in Haruko’s Coffee Shop.- His voice sounded familiar, he even looked familiar to John, as if he had seen him before. Soon enough, noticing small details like a scar crossing his eyebrow and cheek, John might realize who this hippie looking fella was.
It was Gen Shishioh.
The new doors appeared, getting closer and closer to them. There was a cracked wooden door with several stickers placed over the cracks to keep it together. Parts had what seemed scuffs marks, burn marks and even signs of being thrown up on. The second door was a tall and almost ethereal glass door, slightly tinted green. It was framed by ornate bronze carvings, the pommel was also bronze, carved with plant-like designs. The last door was a simple dark wood door with a rectangular worn out golden pommel. Garo didn’t look at them too much, as he was busy untangling the mess of bandages Eve placed over Angelico’s head. -Harper-dono, you should leave medicine to people who know about it… or at least members of the same species.- She more or less had covered him so tightly that the Phantom Thief wasn’t able to breathe. Falken studied the doors. -The first one looks promising, the second one looks fragile, meaning I can break more stuff, the third door is boring.- He turned to face Eve. -What do you make of them Sweet Cheeks?- He really didn’t want to pick, at this point the whole interdimensional travel was getting quite boring for him.

"Sorrrryyyyy." Eve looked at her feet. She couldn't help it if humans were poorly built! "Stop calling me that, Falken." She nudged him out of the way to look closer at the doors. "You know, none of the ones I thought looked safe were actually safe, so fuck it." She put a hand on the damaged wooden door. "Any objections? I know it seems insane, but honestly, every door we've been through has been hell." If nobody made a move to stop her, the door would be swung open. John relaxed visibly entering the cafe. A dopey smile spread across his face and he took a deep breath. Wonderful scents, such a pleasure to the man with a nose! And peace! Oh, dear peace! Nothing trying to rip off his wings and make him eat them! "Bonjour, good fellow! I appreciate you not asking too many questions." Of course, I'm taking Haruko being mentioned pretty well too. His heart twitched a little. Did she ever think of him?
He took another whiff of the spices to raise his spirits and caught something else in the process. He sniffed again and confirmed it. This man smelled like Gen. Not exactly like Gen. He hadn't been living in a jungle for months for one. But it was definitely the same person besides that. He just smiled and shook his head. He could only be thankful they hadn't met a version of himself. That would be too surreal. He looked at their own Gen, fast asleep. That was for the best. "Ah, I'm so happy to see a friendly face I should kiss you. However, while I won't, I must ask where somebody interested in low-consequence kissing would go around here?" It wasn't a question he would ask most, but he was in pretty desperate straits and this man was clearly not going to find anything weird.

The HWIC duo stepped through the doorway, Alex immediately pulling a handkerchief out of his pocket and covering his nose with it. Mizuki followed further behind, seemingly unphased by the overwhelming smell of the room. She shot Callis a glance to see what his demeanor was, and promptly looked away when she saw him hunched over in a darkened mood. Perhaps with some reflection, Mizuki thought, Callis would come to realize his idiotic, self-destroying nature. Alex glanced around the room, eyes falling upon the man already in the room.
“Haruko’s Coffee Shop?” He asked, hearing the name of one of his sisters. Haruko and Alex rarely exchanged words once she realized she had siblings, only keeping in contact with Erin and Elyssa. But that was fine. He didn’t need her approval when his days were already filled with more missions than he could reasonably coordinate. Ignoring John’s inane comments, Alex addressed the man directly. “Hello, my name is Alex. Would you let us leave our two injured teammates here while we have a look around? It would be helpful.” He asked, knowing this laid-back man is probably going to say yes. Jose and Gen are a liability if he has to keep dragging them along while they investigate this realm.

Alex says nothing as Eve goes to open the door. After all there is no method to the madness of this place. He rather trust the Wild Hunt leader's intuition, or gut feeling, then trying to figure out how to maneuver this place. Besides he found the randomness to be fun. He hopes that the next world will prove to be just as interesting as the last few worlds, if not even more so. Yet, he couldn't really figure out what the whole point of all of this. Either way the gruesome hunter isn't too worried. He will find out what's truly going on here one way or another. He may as well enjoy this experience to the fullest.

-Low consequence kissing?- The Bearded Hippie asked to himself, thinking out loud. -If I’m catching your drift, you should visit Camilla, she will align your chakras, if “you” catch my meaning. Or you can ask Brother Williams if you're into that.- The Alternate Gen winked and then turned to face Alex. -Far out man… A square who cares for his friends, now I’ve seen everything.- He looked at his hands. -Oh, now I’ve seen everything, I don’t remember seeing my hands before.- The Bearded Hippie stumbled up from his cushions, almost tripping on his white flowing robe. He was barefooted and he didn’t seem to have the same wear and tear as their own Gen, he was also really thin and lacked any of the muscles that even a drained Hot-Blooded Boxer sported. He helped them to carry Gen and Jose into his living room placing them on two makeshift sofas. Then he stopped, looking at Gen. -MAAAAAAAAAN…. Am I tripping or this dude looks exactly like me?- He glanced at his dimensional counterpart up and down. -Except that more jockey… and pretty dirty.- The Bearded Hippie sat down for a second as if he realized the gravity of what was happening, but soon his stare became vacant and the first signs of existential dread vanished from his face, that returned to a stoned smile.
-Sooooo, you dudes wanted to visit the Coffee shop?- He pointed out the door. -You take a right and the third tent is the Coffee Shop, the emerald one, it has a sign that says “Goddess Worship Guild”- He then turned to John, his head wobbling from side to side as if he was close to being blackout drunk. -And you, my man, Camilla is around the corner to the Coffee Shop, red velvet tent… I dunno ‘bout the name…- His eyes focused again and he shook his head, for a second light returned to his vacant eyes, but soon the sopor took over him again and he glanced at the group. -Yooooo my dudes? Who’re you? How did ya crash my pad? WHOA!- He looked at Gen. -This dude looks like me! Far out!- Clearly, he wasn’t on the same wavelength as them and asking more question might not be useful. If they left the building, or better put the tent, they would find themselves in a chill out community, built inside a forest, with dozens of shining tents forming makeshift city blocks with earthen roads splitting them apart. There were scents flowing with the wind, exotic spices, and some illegal substances and soft music could be heard, coming from multiple guitars, harps, and other really laid back instruments.
The moment Eve opened the door a blast of discordant noise erupted out from the doorway, covered by black fabric, echoing all around them. The trashiest guitar riff they could ever fathom, with an unhealthy amount of distortion was drilling their eardrums. A rough and wild drum solo interrupted the guitar, and by the sounds of it, the drum set was being destroyed mid solo as the sounds became more simple, but not less loud. A hoarse and amplified voiced blasted out from the amplifiers inside the door. -YOU MOTHERFUCKERS! ARE YOU READY TO FUCKING PARTY!?- The crowd shouted in response to the call out. The voice shouted again. -I DON’T FUCKING HEAR YOU! I WANT TO HEAR YOU SCREAM!- The crowd replied with a single voice. -AND WE WANT TO HEAR YOU ROAR!!!- The man with the microphone took a deep breath and then belted out a Lion Roar, loud enough to cause feedback on the mic. The music slowly builds up. -WE’RE LIONKNIGHT AND WE’RE HERE TO FUCK THINGS UP!- The music blasted again, starting with a deep bassline, that made the black fabric covering the doorway tremble and then fall.
A cacophony of sound and lights was uncovered by the falling cover, revealing the inside of a very dirty and ratty bar, black walls, half destroyed wooden floors with decades of filth accumulating between the boards. The place was crowded overcapacity and standing on the ruinous stage with ratty red curtains on the sides, was a band blasting the trashiest punk metal possible. The drummer was a tall and buffed middle-aged man with grey hair and beard, with blue eyes, dressed in black and brown. The bass player was older than the rest, an Asian man with short, almost buzz cut, black hair, and deep purple eyes. He was dressed in a very ragged black suit, missing a sleeve and using a dirty white shirt. The guitar player was another tall man with short brown hair, freckles, and tanned skin. He was dressed in white, blue and gold, using a white and golden guitar. He has stubble and turquoise eyes. The frontman, currently singing about killing those in power, has a massive mane of dirty blonde hair, piercing blue eyes and was covered in scars. He was dressed in half-destroyed blacks jeans, combat boots and a very old military jacket from the XIX Century, blue and silver. He had sharp teeth, animal-like features, and a scruffy beard.
-This is my kind of hole.- Falken smiled as he crossed the doorway, going directly towards the bar. -Yo sweet cheeks, do you want some booze? I'd kill for a pint- He asked, before vanishing into the crowd. Garo, clearly vexed by the loud noises stood on the doorway looking in, trying to scan for any dangers. -Except for the horrible music I don’t see anything dangerous Harper-dono.- He looked at his boss. -What’s the play?-
