The battle raged on in the background as Corporal Bonham scanned the group, which each passing second more questions stacked inside his head, as he noticed that Eve, who he was confusing for her dimensional counterpart, Captain Harper, was surrounded by other individuals he knew. When he heard her question, he was even more confused, but he replied out of instinct. -The situation is pretty much everywhere Ma’am.- He took a tablet from a bag hanging from the back of his harness, showing a world map with many of the World’s capitals marked with red dots. The continents were color coded, blue, yellow and red, as if the different factions controlled different parts of the globe. -The Kisekian Army and the Shinoda Empire picked Earth for their final battle, not caring that we actually live here.- He pointed at pockets of resistance around them. -The Agents of H.U.N.T are protecting civilians with the support of the capes.- He tapped his tablet a couple of times showing a line-up of faces with a short bio, some of the faces were well known to some of the members of the team.
Doctor Draiochta - Magic User - Self proclaimed Prince of Magic. Heatwave - Fire Powers - Dangerous and prone to collateral damage Overkill - Cyborg Mercenary - Requested payment for his emergency recruitment. Earthshaker - Geomancer - Good Fighter, offer H.U.N.T. job. Greenthumb - Plant Powers - Easy-going yet dangerous.
-We have more temporary operatives in other cities but it seems you managed to find more.- His eyes finally locked on Garo, opening wide in disbelief. -And you somehow brought the Silver Archer back from the dead? Or is this another time-travelling team up with the International Justice Guild?- He then turned to the newly masked Falken. -And Overkill was with you? I just saw him…- He turned and not too far away Falken’s interdimensional counterpart, who was wearing a mask eerily similar to the improvised string cover Alex did, was riding on one of the Shinoda Empire transports gunning the heavily armored Cosmic Warriors with a gleeful smile on his face and a dangerous shine on both eyes. Corporal Bonham turned around quickly, going from one Falken to the other. -Wait, how is it that you only have one bionic eye?- He then proceeded to stare at Eve, rubbing his eyes and focusing on her. -And Captain!? Where is your eyepatch?- Each passing moment turned the inner cogs of his brain around, as he was realizing that something was off.
-Who’re you people?- He exclaimed, while raising his gun, aiming at them. Both Garo and Falken replied in kind, aiming an arrow and a shotgun in exchange. -I’m your bloody undertaker if you don’t shut up.- Falken, who ripped the mask off using his inhuman strength, added while pumping the shotgun.
-I can handle it Mes Miyata, but thanks for the offer.- Callis carefully dragged Gen, trying to stop his neck from moving, towards one large pile of snow. WIthout flinching from the cold he used his bare hands to scoop up some now and form an indentation to place the Former Spirit Boxer’s neck and head into it, so it was surrounded by snow, helping to at least combat the surface symptoms of the concussion. When that was done he turned to Jose. -Did you feel something or someone?- Jose’s seismic sense would in fact have allowed him to detect a single person in the ledge atop the stairs, inside the house with a light.
The door of the aforementioned abode opened and the figure of a man, kinda difficult to see with the roaring blizzard falling all around them, waved and gesture them to come into his house. Anybody with enhanced senses would notice he was really old, bald and was dressed in a buddhist white robe. He was inviting them in, as he closed back the door, surely to escape the cold.

"Don't be a smartass, Colonel. I meant the specific situation here." Eve put on her best assertive boss voice. Luckily, she was an assertive boss, so it was a very good voice. "Silver Archer!? Uh, yes, time travel. Overkill is also here because of time travel." Oh, good. This universe's Falken was even dumber than her universe's. Well, not her universe... I'm still not quite used to that.
"My eyepatch? What could possibly- I mean... time travel? ...okay, from the sound of it, alternate universes aren't too weird to you, are they? We're from one of them. Well, three of them, but really, that's not important. The important part is that in a few minutes, we'll be out of your hair." This one seemed similar to theirs in some ways, close enough that there were people who closely resembled her and her crew. She was pretty sure she had even heard the name Draiochta before, and Heatwave was Ash's hero gimmick. "And Falken... absolutely not. I will throw you off this building if you do anything."
When Callis asked if Jose sensed anything, John gave the air a sniff. It smelled like a cold mountainside should. Chilled air, wet rock. His eyes found something more interesting. "The door's open!" He flapped his wings and bounced up towards the house. He couldn't see the man very well through the snow, but he didn't care. He just wanted out of it. The snow did trigger a thought though. This stuff was falling sideways, but there wasn't a whisper to the wind. "Hey... anybody else noticing how quiet it is?" John slowed down and let the others catch up. Maybe charging into a room alone, no matter how warm it was, was a bad idea.

The trip up the stone steps appeared to be uneventful, which contrasted their previous adventures that included a T-rex or an arena filled with wrestling fans. Mizuki was the first to spot the strange man atop the staircase, standing at the entrance to what she assumed to be his house. Alex heard John's comment on the lack of noise and looked forward the incubus. "Yes, I have noticed the eerie quiet of this place. It might simply be a property of the environment, since we are no longer working with Earth logic. But regardless; keep on your guard...this might all be illusion." Alex stated. He had dealt with situations where overconfident mages would make an illusion of an area to confuse people, yet didn't have the skill to mimic sound as well. That seemed to be less likely here though...as he could feel the cold of the snow.
Once they reached the top of the staircase, Alex stepped forward and knocked on the old man's door. He then stepped back to give himself plenty of reaction time if the old man decided to spring a trap on them. "Hello? We're here seeking information on this location. May we enter?" Alex asked. He knew that the old man was gesturing for them to walk inside, but he wanted firm confirmation that the gesture was an invitation. He also knew that blindly walking into someone's home could lead to them walking into a trap...something Alex wouldn't put past a man the Herald suggested they visit.

-I can survive the fall.- Falken snidely remarked, reaffirming his grip on his shotgun, each of his fingers moving like a wave as the clutched the pump section. Bonham looked at them, his conviction wavering thanks to his confusion, his weapon trembling on his now unsteady hands. His finger was slowly moving towards the trigger, something caught not only by Falken’s bionic eyes but also Garo’s keen eyesight. The Old Archer notched an arrow into his bow faster than the mundane eye could see, ready to shoot if Andrew Bonham did any sudden movement. -Lower your weapon son, we don’t want to hurt you.- Garo tried to placate the Private’s impulse to shoot, Alexander hid behind the group, already preparing his threads to block any incoming fire if needed. But none of the involved in this improvised Mexican Stand-off shoot anything, Bonham totally incapable to, as while his trembling hands struggled to aim a large bullet came from his side, his head exploding into reddish paste.
A overly designed ship, looking more like a miniature flying cathedral than any actual kind of vehicle, crash landed into the top of the building, turning whatever was left of Private Bonham into a red mist. Angelico, looking at it, narrowed his eyes into hateful slits. He knew fascist when he saw them. Spiked vines started to slide down his sleeves, with roses popping out in irregular intervals, some red, some white and some black. The door of the small landing craft was kicked out, crashing into the floor and sliding until it reached the group, Falken stopping it with his foot, without losing sight of the now open doorway. A group of large armored figures walked out, with blue painted armors, overly charged with details in gold, as the lining of each armor plate, emblems and decorations. Half a dozen of 7 ft tall Shinoda Space Soldiers. One of them, possibly the leader, was helmetless, carrying a large banner on his back, Samurai style.
They were armed with chainsaw-like variations of weapons, like chain-spears, chain-axes and chain-scythes. Two of them, one being the leader, also had overly large handguns, as heavily and garishly decorated as their armors. The one who seemed to be the leader raised his Chain-Spear and roared. -Tremble before the might of the Shinoda Elite, extending the civilized ways of our Lord and Emperor Shinoda the 2nd into this savage mudball!- The rest of the squad chanted in some strange and arcane language. -By the power vested in me by the Holy Shinodaborn, Son of the Traveller of Chronal Currents, Wielder of the Sacred Opening Blade, I require your surrender…- He raised his gun, aiming at the group. -From LIFE!!- Falken smiled and turned to Eve. -Can I shot these assholes?-
-BURN THE NON BELIEVERS!!!- With that war cry the Squad of Shinoda Space Soldiers (SSS) charged into battle. Two with large and heavy Chain-Axes, wearing heavier armor, propelled themselves through jet engines on their back, aiming to hit both Falken and Eve, who were on the front line. The two using side guns aimed at Garo and Fumi, shooting massive burning hot bullets. The remaining one, with a Chain-Scythe rushed to the side, trying to flank the group, aiming an attack towards Alexander.
Jose, after using his seismic senses just replied. -I can’t sense any traps or hidden compartments of any kind.- He also added. -The snow has actual weight on the floor, it might be soundless, but it behaves like snow.- Callis nodded and joined with him to reach the rest of the group, just as they arrived to the higher ledge. Alex’s question floated for a second without a reply, until a figure slowly formed on the doorway, it’s silhouette cut by the bonfire inside the cabin. It was an extremely old man, looking close to 90 years old. His face was a cobweb of wrinkles and scars, his eyes were an empty and lifeless grey. His hair was cut really short and it was completely white. His sadness stricken eyes scanned the group and with a weak and shivering finger he started moving from individual to individual. -Jose Hernandez, Alexander Miyata, Mizuki, Callis Nomene and Johnathan Chandler.- He looked the whole area, even popping his head out from the warm cabin looking for more people. -Hm… Strange.- He commented. -I was expecting Sid Renen or Dan Drake… Last time they even brought an Aleister Crowley and the time before there was a Haru… no…- He stopped to think for a moment and finished talking. -A Yamiko, I think her name was Yamiko.-
-Please come on in, the sound might not be there, but the cold is pretty real.- He entered into the room, pacing around the bonfire and sitting on a raggedy cushion in front of the door, waiting for the others.

"Come on, kid. You know that won't kill us, and then you're faced with our firepower. Just go back to the fight. You universe needs you." Eve had to feel sorry for the guy. Here he was fighting for his home and they pop in and bring a hundred factors he didn't understand. "Trust us, we'll be gone before- get down!" Eve yelled, too late to stop the bullet that rammed through his skull. Her shock hadn't quite faded when the holy roller came crashing down. "He was just a kid." Eve told nobody in particular.
She only focused when something she could shoot appeared. "Your empire doesn't have a lick of authority over me! I'll kick over your punk emperor's throne and melt down his crown!" She unveiled her cannon and shot immediately right for the unprotected head of the leader. "Shoot them to hell, Falken. Just don't damage those guns. There's one for each of us." Eve stepped forward to meet one of the imperial marauders with a chain axe. She wasn't winning a direct matchup.
If they could shoot those guns without falling over, she wasn't overpowering them in strength. She instead rushed forward and ducked, only getting clipped on the back by the chain-axe's blade. The force bent her knees and the blade ruined her coat where it touched, but she was standing. Her left arm peeled away as well to reveal her giant stun gun. The bright yellow tool hummed as she set it to its highest setting and threw a left hook. "Thousand volt punch!" She yelled just to add some emphasis to the pain she was about to bring.
John stopped his miserable dance of chill for a second to listen to what the strange old man said. "Huh? You've met us all... damn. We've come in from other universes then." Reality dawned in an instant, but it only just got over the horizon before he shoved it back down. He sprang past the old man and dove his hands right into the bonfire. "Ah... I apologize for my rudeness, monsieur! My dislike for the weather overcame my manners. Yes, I am Jonathan Chandler. At your service." He bent nearly double before shoving his hands back into the flames.

The old man's words made Alex frown in confusion. How did he know who they all were? If his intel was correct, Callis wasn't even from their universe. How could he recognize everyone on sight? Even if a version of themselves existed in this world, it was highly unlikely that they looked enough like their current forms to be recognizable by an old man who likely had failing eyesight. Staying near the wall, Alex found it a little suspect that Mizuki was the only one who didn't get her last name announced by the strange old man. She was currently leaning against the wall on the opposite side of the room...scanning the room for any useful information.
"And who might you be, sir? Why would you be expecting those two? And how long ago was this 'last time'?" Alex asked with suspicion. This man was the one whom the Herald said would tell them 'how they would die'. His face stayed a cold display of professionalism as he continued. "And why is there no sound in this place? Is there a sleeping giant at the bottom of this ravine?" He half-joked. Having a noise-canceling spell around an entire area was massively difficult to keep up...so there must be a reason for it. He wasn't one for small talk, so Alex wanted to get straight to the point.

-My name… I don’t remember my name…- He weakly replied to Alex inquiry. -I rarely remember anything that happened before the event…- He gestured once again for them to come in. - Please do come in.- Callis, who was lagging behind got inside, so did Jose, calm and collected, but still prepared for anything. The old man sat down across the fire, using a very raggedy pillow to place his knees on, clearly he was Japanese or lived long enough there to make Seiza Stance something as easy for him as breathing. -To explain most of your inquiries, I need to tell you a story, so please, try to tolerate this old man’s ramblings.- His voice was slowly getting louder, not to the point of shouting, but a strong enough tone so everyone of his words would be clear and concise, without room for mistake. It was almost as if he had practiced this many, many times. -Once upon a time…- He started talking, his eyes slowly losing focus from any of the people present, looking beyond them and beyond the crummy wooden walls of the cabin. -Once upon a time there was a man, a regular man, who without knowing it lived in an extraordinary world.-
-He lived his life always looking down, trying to avoid conflict and only hoping to survive life, rather than living it.- His voice wavered, flickering like the flame in front of him, but he soon gathered his resolved and continued. -Until one day, after years of looking at the floor a voice called him out and he saw the most beautiful thing he ever saw.- His eyes become flooded by sadness, yet he continued. -For a blissful moment he thought he reached Heaven, but that divine vision was taken from him, robbed, destroyed and stomped by the same extraordinary forces he was so ignorant of.- The old man stopped, grief noticeable on his face. With a long stick he hit the logs of the bonfire a couple of times, sparks flew out, but once again no sound could be heard. -He couldn’t forget that taste of Heavenly Bliss, he couldn’t let it go, so upon learning about the extraordinary traits of his world, he decided to study them, so he could once again bring back the voice that showed him how to live, rather than survive.- The old man lowered his head, his voice becoming softer, barely audible, yet easy to listen, as no other sound was obscuring it. -He found arcane secrets hidden beyond the veil of mankind understanding.-
-In this world, everything was born from thought, the people, the objects, the feelings and even the laws of physics. The people capable of exerting their will over their surroundings were those extraordinary individuals with impossible and inhuman powers.- He raised his head, his eyes full of conflicting emotions. -Everything was connected, the human experience, knowledge, light, darkness, life and death.- Once again he fiddled with the fire while he talked, the sparks reaching the low roof of the cabin. -So he devised a plan, to bend the rules of reality by manipulating the knowledge of people, if he could erase a concept from their heads, maybe the effect would allow him to twist the gateway to the afterlife and bring back his bliss.- He stopped fidgeting with the burning logs and made a momentary pause. His tone changed, from a story, to a confesion. -I made them forget. They forgot about light, about sound, about everything... beyond these mountains there is nothing, this is a solitary island of reality floating in a sea of nothingness.- He dropped this revelation without wavering, as if he had told this story thousands of times.
-This place is my prison, the place where I killed the last hero of this world, who was trying to save the last remaining humans who were opposing my plan.- He lowered his head, in shame. -With his dying breath he cursed me, using his arcane secrets, I’ve become an herald of calamity, one who brings dire warnings to those who sit down and listen to my tale, as I do not just try to talk to the Heroes, but also to myself, every version of myself who roams the multiverse will find me sooner or later and I will try to tell them my tale, but they never listen, as all of them are consumed by the same desire that brought ruin to the world around me.- He started pointing at the people in the room. -If any of you travel across dimensions and come from a world in which one of my counterparts exists, you will sooner or later fall here, so I can warn you about him and about who attempts to manipulate him… who also manipulated me and others like me.- He focused on Alex Miyata. -You’re a rarity, I’ve only seen you twice before, your sister Haruko or her other side usually tend to be in your place, leading the group or serving as right-hand to whoever is in charge.- He pointed at Mizuki. -I’ve seen you once before, alongside him.- His attention shifted to the others.
-You’ve been here many times Jose Hernandez, sometimes alone, sometimes accompanied by your master Goemon and others by your student.- His wrinkled finger locked on John. -You usually appear here as well Mr. Chandler, sometimes as a full blooded demon without a human guise, others as a human who just hunts them, a couple of times a dimensional counterpart of the opposite gender took your place, or maybe you’re the opposite gender one to the original, who knows?- He moved on to Callis. -And you, Callis Nomene, always lost, always in the wrong world, never on your own, I think I’ve only seen you once before you were sent beyond the boundaries of your world… Centris, was it?- Callis barely contained a gasp of surprise. -I’ve met more, some you might know, others that could be as alien as possible. But all of them came from worlds in which my own counterparts plot something that would rip apart the fabric of space and time in their own universes.- His expression grew darker and angrier. -And always they’re flanked by somebody else.-
-I don’t know who he is, or we he came from, what I know is that he feeds on Universes.- He explained. -Or to be precise in what remains of them, you might call him a Dimensional Vampire, yet he calls himself something else, maybe to spite me, as many times I might have been the one to stop his plans.- His voice became almost a whisper. -He cannot enter this dimension, as memories, what sustain him, don’t exist here anymore, so he resents me and thus, just as I’m an Herald of Calamity he presents himself as an Herald of Salvation.- Callis, this time around, couldn’t contain his gasp of shocked surprised, gaining the attention of the Old Man. -This… Herald… Is he capable of shape shifting?- The question, seemingly caught the old man unprepared, who stuttered for a second, trying to gather his thoughts. -Y-yes, he can take the form of people from the universes he has consumed.- That sinked for the Beast Knight, who realized that they just faced him in battle. -You mean you’ve seen him?- The Old Man asked, with a worried expression. -He never shows up, he always keeps to the shadows… This is the first time this happened.-
-And it will be the last.- A voice came from outside the cabin. -Trust me old man, this will be the last time somebody has to hear your sorrowful story and your pathetic warnings.- The Old Man shivered with fear. -He… He… He is here…- The Old Man shook his head in disbelief. -He can’t be here, he can’t survive from my memories, they’re sealed… unless.- His eyes darted around the room. - HE IS IN YOUR DIMENSION RIGHT NOW! HE IS FEEDING FROM YOU!- He shouted as the roof over them exploded away, bursting in a rain of sawdust and splinters, while the snow crashed inside as well, but all still bizarrely without any noise whatsoever. Something had cut the roof of the building diagonally, allowing the group to see an androgynous individual dressed in knight’s armor, with a strange weapon in his or maybe her hand, which looked like a mixture between a sword and a overly designed clock hand. -Time’s up for you Old Man… The only time left if the time for you to finally die.- The red cloak waved behind his/her back while his/her black armor contrasted against the falling snow. Red eyes looked at them behind pale blonde spiky bangs, that also danced with the wind.
The chain scythe revved as the SSS charged towards Alexander. The Grotesque Hunter dedicated a very creepy smile to the incoming threat as he flickered his fingers weaving a defensive cocoon of wires to protect himself from the incoming attack. -DIE INFIDEL! FOR THE GLORY OF THE SHINODA EMPIRE!- He roared, louder than his weapon engine as he swung the scythe down. At first it seemed as if the powerful mechanical empowered blade had pierced the defenses of Alexander, but his creepy smile became sinister, as the enemy sprung the trap laid by him. He extended all his fingers at the same time, projecting the dome forward, encompassing the enemy with his wires, like a mummy covered in metallic bandages. The SSS dropped his weapon from the first pull and then the wires started cracking his armor while he tensed his whole body trying to fight off the crushing force.
Falken smiled upon listening to Eve’s orders, not creepily as Alexander, but with notable bloodlust being emanated from his face, his shining eyes brimming full with killing intent. The Chain Axe swung towards him at extreme speeds, but the Psycho Cyborg was two steps ahead, reading the trajectory and acting before hand, his bionic body getting ready to act even before the attack reach melee range. -Infidel, Infidel, Infidel!- He mockingly remarked as jumped out of the way, the axe crashing against the floor, leaving a massive crater. -You should work in your aim instead of your piety.- He raised his Shotgun but changed his mind mid-aiming and exchanged with for the Kiryuu Double Barreled Revolver, a massive sawed-off shotgun looking gun. -Say hello to whoever your version of Satan is.- He commented as the SSS launched another attack, this time a powerful horizontal swing which Falken avoided by pulling a matrix move. -Because I’m bloody sending you with him soon.- And he shot, the weapon chiming “BURSTING INFERNO” before releasing its dual payload.
As a blast of flames blasted out Falken’s gun, hitting the SSS and forcing him to raise his armored limbs to block, Garo was rolling out of the way of heavy fire, while Fumi just turned intangible letting the bullets punch holes harmlessly through her smoky form. The Old Archer kept running, the massive projectiles punching large holes behind him. The rate of fire too fast for him to slow down and shoot arrows. -I’m running out of roof to dodge them!- He proclaimed, asking for help as soon he was about to reach the ledge. Seeing his predicament Angelico took action, as he thankfully wasn’t targeted by the Shinoda Death Squad. The Phantom Thief of the Rose rushed towards Garo, showcasing inhuman speed, while leaving a trail of rose petals behind him. Soon he reached the Old Archer and slid on the ground, baseball style, with his hand sliding alongside him. -Worry not amico!- He proclaimed with a charming smile. -I’ll gracefully give you a hand.- As he said that the ground cracked, with several dozens of thick rose vines growing out and forming a barrier.
Garo, without thinking it twice stopped running, making a close turn using his foot as a pivot. -Thanks, just stay right where you are I'm going to help!- He shouted, while rushing towards Angelico. The Phantom Thief, who was still creating vines only managed to get confused by the request. -I was saving you! Why do you come to help me?- But soon it was obvious why, as the bullets were piercing his defense. Garo, without skipping a beat threw 3 arrows with Iron Charms, that pierced into the Rose Barriers and reinforced them, while he kept running and jumped over it, using Angelico’s shoulder as a footstool. -HEY! Watch the cape!- The Phantom Thief protested as Garo sailed over him and the barrier, using Kami Hohaba, the first technique of the “Ten no Ya” style Garo was a master off. Then, mid-air, head down as he flipped over the Reinforced Rose Bushes, his keen and trained eyesight pinpointed a structural weakness in the armor, applying Shuryo-Shin no Me, the second master technique of the style. Finally, from this imposible position he drew an arrow, adding a flame charm to it and sprung it from the string at inhuman speeds thanks to the third technique of the style.
KAMI NO SHOMEI (Divine Lightning)
The arrow, set ablaze by the charm, moved faster than the rapid fire bullets from the enemy’s guns and without missing for a mm it landed on the intended target, the munitions for the weapon. A flickering flame, followed by sparks, was the preamble to a massive pyroclastic explosion that rocked the SSS’s armor turning it from a stalwart bastion of defense to a pile of burning scrap metal piercing through bloodied flesh and cybernetic implants. Garo landed with a three point landing, his steely eyes locked on the second shooter, who was dazed by the explosion that partially hit him as well.
Meanwhile Eve was engaged on a fight of her own. Her first attack only managed to barely damage the leader, who seemed to be better equipped than the rest, as the cannon blast didn’t hit the unprotected head directly, crashing against some kind of kinetic barrier, almost like an invisible kevlar plate. The force managed to pierce through, cracking the SSS Leader’s nose, making two red rivers run rampant out of his nose. -KILL THE HERETIC BITCH!- Was his response, to the attack, following the Axe-wielding soldier. Her fist connected with the first one, releasing a blast of electricity. If the blast had been just a bit weaker the insulation of the suit might have worked, but she triumphed in the end, pushing enough voltage to cause an overload on the SSS Axe-man armor, small explosions rocking it as the inner wiring fried up, freezing the armor servo motors in a locked position. The Leader charged behind with his chain spear, while shooting with his sidearm. He was jousting towards Eve, ready to skewer her with his massive weapon.

Eve smiled at even the minor damage her cannonball did. "That one's for the soldier you killed. Wait, scratch that. The one that kills you will be for him. Everything else is for, I don't know, Huntsman? Man, he'd want to fuck up your whole planet." There was nothing anarchist maniacs hated more than fascist maniacs. Eve glanced at her arm to check on her remaining electricity and was rattled by bullets hitting her back. She spun to face her attacker, wincing at the feeling of the bullets lodged halfway through her endoskeleton.
Blood misted her chin when she breathed, lungs expanding into her damaged internal armor with every breath. Eve hissed and turned off a few nerve endings, dulling the pain. She would survive like this a while. The chain lance was more worrying. Her armor might not hold up to that, and if it didn't, she was getting her organs shredded. She could heal them, but with a damaged endoskeleton, it would be difficult to maintain them properly. She wasn't the most agile person in the world, but she was quick enough to sidestep, only taking the lance's blow across her side instead of straight through. Sparks flew as she lunged forward, loading her cannon as she stepped in. "Is your armor tougher than mine?" Eve asked as she fired point blank at his helmet.
John listened to the old man's story with increasing worry. Somebody threatened to turn their world... into this? Somebody working with the Herald? John couldn't focus on the implications over the knot the story put in his heart. How long had this man been here alone? How many times had he told himself he was heading for destruction? It was the loneliest existence John could imagine. "Callis, Alex. I want you to promise to try convincing the JHWAB and HWIC to share the information we've found here with the rest of the Hidden World organizations. This isn't something they can keep to themselves." John stared at the two, not realizing what had happened till the old man yelled.
John spun to face him, going into his full demonic form in a fearsome burst. "Somebody get the old man out of here!" He lunged forth, slashing with his claws at the Herald's face. As fearsome as his form looked, he was clearly not in top shape. His left arm was slow, his face pale. The slime this form produced was thin and watery rather than viscous. It didn't stop John from firing a plume of friendly fire at the Herald's face to blind him before dropping back towards the others. "But somebody else help me handle him!" He cringed as he cradled his still-shattered collarbone.

Sensing the situation is probably going to be important, Alex took out a small black notepad from his pocket and a pen marking the next free page. He noted the strange man's motivations, and how this 'heavenly bliss' brought on the world's downfall. Alex mostly dealt with the broad details of various criminal organizations, letting the Intelligence division sort out each individual case and point out who to arrest. Just who could this mysterious old man be? He noted how this man was the one to cause the downfall, and worked with a shapeshifter, Alex having not been present for the meeting between Kuro-san and the Herald with the rest of the Hidden World organizations.
Mizuki, meanwhile, internally became more nervous when he said that another version of herself met him...and with with Alex. He didn't seem to know much about her, thankfully...since he seemed too important to their exit to simply silence, even without the entire group present. He entirely ignored John's request, figuring the suggestion was something outside the scope of his limited understanding of Hidden World politics. Before he could inquire about how the man lost his memories, the roof was suddenly ripped open and chaos ensued. Alex instinctively formed a portal directly above the old man's head, the oval shape covering the area above his body. "Mizuki! Guard him!" Alex called over, the young assassin nodding her head and sprinting to his side, holding both daggers to protect from any assault if the Herald decided to descend. Alex's portal would serve to protect against any aerial attacks, while Mizuki would deal with attacks coming from ground level. While Mizuki guarded the old man, Alex summoned a portal directly to the Herald's right and tried to spear him through the back of the knee, where armor is usually the weakest to allow for movement.

Without losing a step Alexander Stevenson, the Grotesque Hunter, charged in for the kill. He wanted to make this quick and simple, but life isn’t always easy. As he rushed forward, weaving more wires on his hands a dropship flew over the building, with the SSS engaging a couple of Kisekian Warriors in a brutal flying skirmish. One of the Alien Assassins managed to get the drop on the Space Soldier handling the turret and the Shinoda’s subject started firing wildly as blood spurted like a crimson jet from the massive gash opened by the Trion blade carried by the Kisekian Killer. The spray of heavy bullets first hit a nearby building and then, just as Alex attempted to charge forward a heavy turn from the Dropship pilot caused the turret to spin downward, tracing a line of impacts between the Grotesque Hunter and his hogtied prey.
Alex stopped, with a disgusted grunt, his heels left a parallel marks on the floor below him from the sudden stop, he didn’t waste a second standing idle. He snapped to the side with the security and determination of a bloodhound following a scent. Not showing any outer or even inner signs of fear or doubt he jumped off the building, extending his wires, grasping with them the ledge of a building close by. With pure dexterity he changed his downward momentum into an ascending sling curving around the ledge of the rooftop. He let go mid-air, finishing to weave the weapon he was building at the start of his sinister rush. His trademark Wire Javelin flew towards the SSS who attempted in vain to escape the wires that trapped him, the more he fought the more they digged into his cybernetically empowered body, cracking the exoskeleton and reaching the organic tissue below.
The last thing he saw was the gleaming tip of the Javelin, entering through his eye and coming out through the middle of his spine. The Space Soldier body ragdolled, like a puppet that just got it’s strings cut. As this happened Fumi kept shifting between physical and smoke forms, deftly avoiding incoming fire and drawing the attention of the few remaining soldiers. -MEN! LET'S RETREAT AND REGROUP WITH OUR BROTHERS!- With their number dwindling, the leader called for a retreat, as three out of the six had been defeated by the Mercenary group. But as he did, lowering his guard to assess the situation, Eve’s attack got him on a blindspot. He was expecting to skewer her with his first attack, so over-confident that he didn’t even consider a possible counter attack. Seemingly his kinetic barrier wasn’t a feature of his armor and more of a natural or maybe artificially implanted ability, meaning that he needed to activate it. The cannonball punched a hole through his tough, yet not enough, head, splattering his “genetically superior” brains all over the ground.
The other 2 didn’t last long. As one of them was set aflame by Falken, but took advantage of the confusion to down him with a sweeping kick and placing the barrel of his massive revolved directly in the mouth of his opponent. He loaded two bluish shells as he performed the takedown and shot without a hint of mercy, the gun chiming “FLOWING BLIZZARD” as he did. A blast of highly pressurized water came out, filling the mouth and managing to pierce through the cheeks and the palate of the soldier. The second shell had a delayed explosion, discharging a powerful freezing agent that turned the water into sharp ice, expanding and completely destroying the Shinoda Marine’s head from the inside out, almost as if a crystalline tree suddenly sprouted inside his head. -What killed the dinosaurs? - Falken started with the pun set-up, but mid-way he realized it was low, even for his standards and decided to shut up and kicked the head off the body, making it crash against a wall, exploding into frozen and bloodied chunks.
Angelico and Garo teamed up to handle the last remaining soldier. -I’ll go low and you go high Signor.- Garo simply nodded as he prepared more arrows. The Phantom Thief rushed forward, displaying the same burst of super speed as before, leaving a trail of petals behind him. The soldier was using a large Chain-Gun, but his shoots didn’t reach Angelico, who seemingly pushed himself even faster, to the point he actually left faint pink after-images behind him. The Phantom Thief dropped to the floor, sliding under the massive armored legs while his fingers danced over the floor, as if he was playing an invisible keyboard. A burst of rose bushes and tendrils sprouted from below the soldier. -Fascists get stitches.- He commented, misusing a quote he heard as the thorns dug deep into the soldier body, freezing his movements and giving Garo ample time to get closer and shoot two arrows directly at the soldier’s eyes, reaching his brain through the optical canal.
The group was left standing on a half destroyed rooftop, in the middle of a warzone in an alternate reality. And the door wasn’t green yet.
The group jumped into action without a doubt, Callis sprinted as if he was shot out of a cannon, pulling two blades out of thin air and rushing directly at the Herald’s new form. The words of the Old Man shook him to his very core, he finally admitted his love for this world and accepted living on it, he couldn’t imagine that his whole world would be taken. -You will fall to my blades today!- He roared as he even inverted the grip, going directly to his more lethal techniques. Yet it was useless, as just before he entered the range to attack the Herald swung his bizarre sword, accompanied by a strange and speed up rhythmic noise, slashing the air between himself and the charging Callis. The Beast Knight lose track of his surroundings for a second and instead of hitting the Herald he kept rushing forward his swords piercing the rockwall behind the strange being.
John and Jose charged in unison, Jose summoned his ki and combined it with his geokinesis, creating a small dashing platform that enhanced his ki-based speed boost. He was clearly aiming for a low tackle, trying to take down the Herald to perform a good ol’ ground and pound. John released his flames but just with Callis, the Dimensional Vampire swung his sword, followed by the same strange sound and the attacks, directly aimed to him, didn’t connect. Mizuki might not notice it, as she was busy protecting the Old Man, but Alex, who stayed back and spent time ordering his subordinate had a better overview of what happened. They didn’t miss their attacks. The Herald dodged them. For a split second their momentum stopped and then resumed, giving ample time for their enemy to avoid their attacks, but maybe he could catch him by surprise.
His chain shot through the portal, for a moment he might think his surprise attack was effective, but the Herald, who already fought them before, was expecting something like and with a breath-taking display of swordsmanship swung the blade once more, warping out of the way of the chains, that crashed through one of the other buildings in the terrace. The Herald place one of his armored hands on his face, his red eyes gleaming between his fingers and started laughing maniacally. -KUKUKUKUKUKUKU! You’re all idiots, incapable of seeing how I can steal everything from you!- Blood was flowing from the sides of his mouth and eyes, maybe the strain related to the weapon he was using. His hand, now drenched in blood, left his face and turned into a accusing finger aimed at the Old Man. -I won’t let you ruin my fun any longer old coot.- He raised his blade and swung it towards Mizuki and the Old Man. -TURN INTO DUST YOU FOOLS!- A greenish wave of energy surged from the weapon, leaving a trail of dust as it touched the floor underneath it, seemingly getting touch by it might not be ideal.

Before her enemy's body had hit the floor, Eve was turning to find the space marine facing Garo. She was just in time to see his eyes pierced, blood watering Angelico's roses. She breathed a sigh of relief and checked on the team. It seemed she was the only one to sustain injury. She checked her side, finding her coat and flesh shredded, with deep scouring on her armor, but no penetration. She willed the flesh to return and it began piling in, leaving deep furrows where her armor was damaged. That would be a problem later if anybody targeted the weakened spot, but it was nothing to worry about for now.
She quickly glanced at the door, noticing right away it was still red. "Fucking hell. Well I don't want to stay here while we wait. Nobody got hurt this time, but these guys are tough enough that one slip up could kill somebody. Falken, help me hotwire this thing." Eve rapped her knuckles on the vehicle the space marines rode on and grabbed up one of the massive guns that the oversized brutes wielded to awkwardly hang on her coat. Oof. This thing was heavy even for her. Despite the delightful firepower it surely packed, the weight might be an issue. Everything about these guys seemed more aimed at aesthetic than practicality. She hopped onto the shining altar of a hovercraft and looked for controls of any sort. If she could fly this thing, they were taking it with them.
Realizing Angelico might have some issues flying in a fascist icon, she quickly gestured him over. "Nothing like stealing from totalitarian regimes, right? They hate it when you drive their own shit into their ranks." Oh boy, she was bad at this. If only Huntsman was here. He'd sell it. Of course she didn't like dictators and warlords, but she didn't have the passion that Huntsman could muster for them. He had performed a job for an African warlord (his money was still good, and the rabid rompo WAS attacking innocents, so why not take the job?) then slaughtered the warlord and 28 of his top brass and burned down his camp after collecting his payment. Only a lack of witnesses prevented total destruction of the Wild Hunt's reputation. Huntsman would indeed find it delightful to steal this ship, but he'd want to at least clear out this whole battlefield before moving along, and Eve didn't have time for that. They had only so many fights in them before their luck ran out.
John's first impression when he bolted right through the Herald was spacial manipulation. He had seen the sword swing and now he was on the wrong side of his enemy. It seemed straightforward enough. He parachuted to the ground with spread wings and stumbled. No energy intake after taking this much of a beating was drawing on his reserves. His teeth ground and his talons flexed. He couldn't go more all out than he already had, but he could pay more attention.
He smelled blood in the air and upon looking, realized it was the Herald's. This form was taxing, or at least using that weapon of his. More than that, he realized the nature of what had happened when he saw the details on the weapon. A clock. Duh. Not that that made it any simpler. Few powers were more difficult to fight than time manipulation. However, if it caused strain, that would push simplicity. He'd keep up the same dodging patterns because that's what was easiest. It left clear holes in his defenses. John lunged with an identical slash to last time, but this time, he thrashed his tail violently the instant he drew near and kept thrashing as he went. If the Herald got behind him, he'd hopefully get a muscular limb right to the nose.

From the ground, Alex watched as the Herald slashed his sword and somehow managed to dodge everyone's attacks by...slowing down time? Though only in the direction where the sword was slashed. The obvious countermeasure appeared to be to attack him from multiple sides, so he can't stop time for everyone. His eyes widened slightly when he landed on the ground and shot the strange green wave at both Mizuki and the old man. The trail of dust made Alex think the energy was somehow able to vaporize the cobblestone below it. "Both of you, stand still!" Alex yelled as he opened a portal directly under them and an exit portal several meters away from the Herald on the snow outside the house. He made sure to put it at ground level, as he had no idea how frail the old man was.
"Turning us into dust...?" Alex asked with interest. "Judging by your power, you have some ability to manipulate time. But what shall you do now?" Alex brushed a strand of hair out of his face to get a clearer look at his opponent. "Turn into another form? One that isn't so taxing on your body?" Alex taunted. He wanted to insult the Herald's pride to stay in this form and wear himself out. Mizuki dashed between the old man and the Herald, daggers up if he decided to charge again. This opponent didn't seem like a good matchup for a close-quarters fighter like herself. Back with Alex, the Enforcement captain folded his arms across his chest and looked at the Herald with amusement. He then opens up 3 different portals around the opponent, each at different angles. One directly in front of him on the floor that would shoot a chain aimed to lodge itself in his chest like a harpoon, one 5 feet above that would fire straight down and to the back to anticipate Herald jumping backwards, and one directly on the wall to Herald's right to give 3 angles of attack toward the time manipulator. While time was one of the most fundamental aspects of nature...space was equally as important, and space manipulation was Alex's domain.

Alexander creepily admired his handiwork, as the SSS member was bleeding on the rooftop, crimson life-force leaking out of his mouth and lower back, as the javelin basically impaled him against the concentre floor they’re standing on. Fumi looked at the Grotesque Hunter with a mixture of shock, disgust and fear, moving away and leaving Alex to his perverse enjoyment of his prey’s suffering. Garo also looked away, not happy about killing people, he was more at home hunting beasts rather than humanoid beings, not even the fact they were space fascist would balance out the gurgling feeling of guilt inside his guts. The Old Archer looked around, as the battle around them still raged, his keen eyes caught many small details, as the people they just defeated seemed to have the most numbers on the fields, while the black cloaked flying individuals were clearly cleaning house with the other two forces. As Eve was prepping the vehicle he got close and whispered. -I’ll keep an eye on the perimeter, Harper-dono.- He handed her a paper charm. -You might be inside this…- He looked at the hovercraft with disgust. -Vehicle, so you might not see what’s happening, but if this thing burns it means we’re under attack.- And with that he bowed and left towards the edge of the building, crouching in one the corners, keeping watch on the battlefield.
-Yeah, stealing from Fascists is more or less my job description Signorina.- Angelico winked at her, totally noticing her intent and wholeheartedly approving her concern for his values. -You can’t imagine what I did to the Ducce’s car when I stole it.- He elegantly chuckled, covering his mouth with his mouth. -Let’s say driving it would be one of the least possible things in that or any world.- He took a deep bow. -I’ll assist Signore Arcieri with the perimeter, we don’t want the fascist to catch us with our metaphorically pants down.- And with that he moved away, towards other of the rooftop corners. Falken nodded to Eve’s request, moving towards the vehicle while putting away his weapons and taking out a toolbox from his Hyperspace Arsenal. -For you sweetcheeks? I could even make a refrigerator survive a nuclear blast.- He went directly to the main console, placing his red toolbox, almost completely covered with band stickers, on one of the chairs, as he passed his finger over the inside of his arm until finding something. With a couple of taps he revealed an opening, a lid of fake skin revealing what seemed to be a small cable with a strange tip, it looked like liquid metal, flowing in place. -With this puppy I bet I can interface with this thing no problem.- As he started to attempt connecting to the console Fumi popped her head inside the vehicle, curious about it.
After a minute of so fidgeting with the console, Falken moved from swaggering confidence to blinding fury. -FUCK! FUCK! AND A THOUSAND TIMES BLOODY FUCK!- He smashed his fist against one of the chairs, puffing air and glaring at the console. Seemingly, his universal port wasn’t working, seemingly Alien tech was beyond it. Falken attempted to translate the instructions on the screen but he could barely understand anything. Maybe it said something about a “LOCKED MODE” or a “LOCK MECHANISM” but he couldn’t understand the rest. The Psycho Cyborg fidgeted with the console once again but an error message appeared. -”CONNECTION BLOCKED”!?- Falken shouted as his hand vanished into one of his portals, drawing the massive Inui Laser Cannon from it, Fumi looking at it with a bit of a perturbed expression. -”RESTRAINING BOLT IN PLACE”!?- The Violent Mercenary aimed the laser, that started warming up with a loud humming noise. -I’ll teach you to collaborate, you cuntastic bloody computer!- Fumi seeing that shit might explode, decided to act, putting her smoky arm into the console and finding the restraining bolt. She had a lot of experience as a thief and most civilizations would find common places to put their security measures, thanks to common sense. She didn’t have any trouble finding it as Falken was looking at her with shock, she returning his shock and adding some fear, as the gun was still humming. Finally she pinpointed the location and pulled it out, turning it into smoke before dragging it with her. The console blipped and Falken, a bit humbled lowered his cannon and connected his port. He quickly connected with it.
-I can fly this over designed bathtub if you need me to.- He said to Eve, avoiding to even look in Fumi’s direction, who smugly smiled. As Falken said that, the charm given to Eve by Garo started burning. As outside, in front of Garo and Angelico a figure completely clothed in black, with a long tunic, open in the front, and a conic black wicker hat was standing on the rooftop, two short blades, one in each hand, gleamed with the same light as his scarlet eyes, that darted around in different directions, almost like a chameleon. -I commend your victory over the Shinoda insects, but I won’t allow the measly and primitive defenders of this mudball to acquire technology that was first stolen from the Kisekian Empire.- He tensed up his whole body as strange pulses of energy came out from his body, like a bubble of gravity. -Relinquish this ship, created with the Octo-dimensional Power-conduit technology to me and your lives will be spared long enough for you to visit your loved ones and explain their impending doom under the hands of the glorious Kisekian Empire.- His eyes lighted up dangerously. -Or I will bathe the True Trion of my blades with your blood.- Garo, who was aiming an arrow to the being whispered to his commlink. -Harper-dono… We have company.-
Jose, after crashing against the wall, decided to calm his mind, realizing that charging blindly wouldn’t do any good. The words of his master echoed in his head. “Karate preaches that Striking First is what any fighter must do, some take this as hitting first, meaning to enhance their speed, others consider a good defense paramount to be the ones to actual strike first, meaning to avoid any offensive from the enemy to counter with their own. My own master, and his master before him have their own conclusion. Striking First means winning first, means striking with enough power and purpose than any other attacks in the fight don’t compare in importance, the true striker path is one of one hit kills.” With that in mind he started gathering his ki while he analyzed the situation, letting his companions act and waiting for the precise moment to unleash the pulsating magma-like burst of energy building up inside of his body. He could feel his ki crackling inside him, warding off the freezing mountain gales hitting his body. The time was close, but he needed to gather even more Ki and refine it, so he could unleash the Ougi of the Mountain Slaying Fist School.
The herald blast blew off the mountain ledge, cutting a swab of emptiness across the snowy landscape, even seconds after passing the effects could still be felt, not allowing snow to enter the trail left by it. -You think you’re so smart Miyata-scum!- The Herald spewed those words like venom. -I killed you and your stinking family in dozens of worlds, what makes you think!- He stopped talking as he deftly avoided the chains, even using one of them as a pivot to spin. -That you!- The Herald then proceeded to deal with Mizuki launching another wave of speeded up time in her and the Old Man’s direction -Could defeat me!- This proved to be a bad prioritization of his targets, as he only realized of John’s charge at the last second, he dodged, instead of using his blade, and that ended up costing him, as the Demon Hunter’s tail smashed him directly in the chest, knocking him back and knocking the wind out of his lungs. That was the moment that Callis used to jump into action. The Beast Knight, who also had the same idea as Jose, had been gathering his will and was ready to pounce. He noticed Jose’s stance and realized how similar it looked to Goemon’s, having read the BHA files of the people he hired he also knew about the Mountain Slaying Fist, so he decided to assist Jose’s attempt.
Putting his mind, heart and soul on it, he summoned all the swords he could, launching them at the Herald from every direction he could, a veritable rain of swords. The alabaster blades fell not on vital points, but they were aimed mostly to the Herald’s legs, to pin him down. -USELESS! USELESS!- He roared as he twirled around using his mysterious sword to erase the incoming blades, but Callis focus was greater than the Herald’s rage, not to mention that the Interdimensional Vampire stopped midway his desperate defense as he started spraying blood from his mouth like a high-pressure sprinkler. As he took his free hand and covered his face, the blades of light launched by the Beast Knight pierced his legs, pinning him to the ground. A grunt of pain was the only thing he managed to utter before Jose blasted forward with his fist ready. The Herald saw it coming, but couldn’t react to it, pain coursing through his body, his muscles numb from the strain that came from using Toki, the Blade of Time. The Earth-Shaker roared with such might the ground beneath him quake, reacting to his volatile charge and his fist, charged with the mountain shattering power of his style’s Ougi, connected right into the Herald’s chest.
For a moment nothing happened, everything around them seemed to stay still. The snow was frozen in place, the wind stopped roaring around them. Even the veil of silence seemed to increase upon the impact of Jose’s clenched fist. For an instant that felt like an eternity everything stood still, until this magical moment was cut short by the Earth-Shaker retracting his fist in perfect Karate form.
He muttered, before crossing his arms and retracting them to the sides of his hips, as if just finished a Kata. Then, sound finally started reaching the others, as a crackling noise, coming from the Herald’s body, started getting louder and louder. Cracks of burning hot Ki appeared on the Interdimensional Vampire’s skin, expanding through his body from the point of impact, that radiated reddish light from the imprint of Jose’s fist. -You insects…- The Herald muttered, his head slanting to the side. -This isn’t over…- His finger, covered in burning cracks pointed at the group with a sweeping accusation. -I killed you all before and I’ll do it again… just you… wa- His final threat ended with him exploding from the inside out in a shower of burning ki, almost as if a volcano had exploded launching body parts like volcanic rocks, sending them far, far away. The explosion was so powerful the ledge they were standing started to crack and tear, leaning dangerously towards the abyss. Callis, still standing against the mountain side, realized this. -MES MIYATA! GET US OUT OF HERE!- He shouted as the ledge started falling, with buildings and all, sliding down the cliffside towards an icy doom.

"Fuck yeah, kid! Good work!" Eve fist bumped the tiny woman, pushing hard enough to nearly knock her over. "Alright Falken. Let's just see how it handles and we can park it until the door opens." She waved Angelico off, distracted by his turn of phrase. She always did want to have sex in a tank, and this thing was certainly close, but now was not the time. Or the cast. Italian accents just didn't do it for her, and for all his cyborgness delighted her, Falken was about as appealing as Huntsman at this point, and that was including the incest factor. Garo was so far from being an option he didn't even come to mind when she thought about it.
Distracting from her thoughts on who to call up when she got home was the burning of the charm she had accepted from Garo. She jumped and peered out the top to observe the situation outside. She could see the strange figure standing before Angelico and Garo, his wild eyes twitching in every direction. "Okay, slight alteration to the plan. We see how it handles, then park it on top of that guy." She suggested with a wicked grin before realizing his proximity to Garo. "Ah, never mind. Just use guns." Eve vaulted out of the machine, landing heavily. On closer inspection, this guy didn't look like the space marines in any way. Most likely, he was part of the other faction, whatever the hell they were called. It didn't really matter. They'd be leaving in a minute anyway. She raised her cannon but hesitated to fire. She would hate to waste a shot like last time. Just what could this guy do?
John's grin was savage when he managed to hit the Herald. "About damn time I get a good hit in." He flapped hard to turn about face, his intended landing spot crumbling away beneath him. He watched the rubble silently vanish into the darkness. It was an eerie sight. The inky abyss looked like something physical and aggressive, devouring whatever fell into it. He landed near the Herald to continue the fight on the ground, but Jose came flying from out of nowhere to plant his fist in the apocalyptic being's solar plexus. John realized what Jose had done when his fist retracted and its burning impression was left behind. He had seen it with the dinosaur earlier. He dove away just before the Herald exploded and was buried in a wave of snow.
"..........ARGH WHY!" Six strong wings shoved off a mound of snow, freeing a very cold demon. He showed little concern for the collapsing cliffside, even when the rocks below him fell away. He easily flew, rushing for whoever was nearest to keep them from falling with the rubble. "Callis is right, we need to get out now!" He yelled to Alex, watching every indication there was every anybody here vanish into the darkness below. Tears reached his eyes. They had completed the demise of this world. Now there was truly nothing left of it. He looked at the old man with Mizuki. Would he even survive the trip out, this final relic of a lost reality?

The Herald's harsher tone made Alex smile with satisfaction. He had clouded this being's judgement with rage. Rage makes people predictable. He looked at the wave of sped-up time shot at both the old man and Mizuki, and waved his hands to create another portal to transport the two of them directly to his right. Mizuki made sure to stabilize the old man, preventing him from falling over from the sudden change in location. "I'd advise you both stand back." Alex stated as he watched John slam the Herald into the ground, followed by Callis's barrage of swords. He knew Callis possessed some sort of power linked with the individuals at Sakurajima...but the secretive nature of the JHWAB made finding further information difficult. The HWIC had a policy of staying out of the countries where large Hidden World organizations protected the land in question, only helping out if they wished for it. The United States was their primary concern, their other offices around the world serving to keep the peace in area where large organizations haven't formed yet, or are too inexperienced to stay afloat.
Both Alex and Mizuki watched the brilliant light show Jose displayed in his attack against the Herald, Alex looking around to see the world crumbling before them. He gave a small glare at John at his prompting. "You don't say? Everyone, stand still." Snapping his fingers, Alex summons a portal back at the entrance to the realm and pulls everyone in with a chain wrapped around their waists. Once everyone was safe from harm, Alex turns his attention toward Callis. "That was quite the display, Mr. Nomene." He begins. "Those powers wouldn't happen to be related to an incident that happened at Sakurajima island, would it? The Japanese Hidden World Affairs Bureau has kept us in the dark on the...activities that happened there. Mind filling me in on the details?" He asked, folding his arms across his chest. Callis seemed like a reasonable man, so there was little need to dance around the issue. Mizuki stayed nearby the old man, making sure he wasn't going to pull anything now that the Herald was gone.

Alex wished he had more time to 'enjoy' himself here, but sadly he is in the middle of a battlefield. He couldn't afford to waste time with this man. The ghoulish hunter takes a brief moment to burn the memory of his victory into his brain before finishing off his prey with a quick, but satisfying wire thread across the neck. As he walks back towards the others he could spot a new figure threatening Garo. A primal instinct suddenly takes control of Alex as soon as his notices the strange man. It has been so long since he felt fear. His body is yelling at him that this man is truly dangerous. Normally his curiosity would get the better of him as he would typically wait to see what his opponent is fully capable of, however without hesitation the gruesome hunter pulls out the Colt and fires a shot right at the man. As the bullet flies out of the barrel of his gun, he quickly swings his free arm towards the man as he unleashes a series of wire threads in a whip like motion as he attempts to strike the Fascist as he attempts to dodge the Colt's bullet.
As the Herald vanishes, Jose winces in pain and examines his right hand. Immediately noticing the scorched skin covering his knuckles. He quickly puts his hand into the snow, which help relieve some of the pain he is feeling. As he rests his hand in the snow he reflects on his lessons with his master, Goemon. No matter how many times he was warn to be careful when using the Yamakoroshi Ken, he couldn't help but overdo it. However, he couldn't wait for his hand to feel better for long as he could feel the mountain ledge becoming unstable. Doing his best, the earth shaker commands what little remains of the material foundation of the ledge to hold together long enough for everyone to escape. Just as he could no longer support the integratiy of the structure he could feel a cold chain wrap around this body and pull him inside of a portal. The young bounty hunter lands on his ass, and takes a moment to get back to his feet. As he stands up, he could hear Alex questions Callis about Sakurajima, which causes him to tense up for a split second. However, he does his best to return to his usual demeanor.

The group, safe thanks to Alex quick thinking, rested on the first ledge, with the door to the dimensional waypoint still open. Callis, standing up while sweeping snow out of his jacket turned towards the HWIC official and started replying. -I feel as if that mission still haunts me.- He sadly commented as he started to remember the events that happened that fateful day in the southernmost region of Japan. -I was hired by the JHWAB as part of an effort to surround the island and stop anybody from entering, as the famed and dangerous martial Artist Reiji Fukuma.- Callis kept talking, not knowing a lot of the political friction between the different organizations and thus unable to think about hiding the information. -It was related to the state of Mes Shishioh, who we surprisingly met here.- He pointed inside the door, at the dormant Gen, twitching in his dreams over a bed of snow. -I was tasked to stop anybody from crossing the sea and reaching the island’s coast.- He looked down, a bit ashamed. -I must admit that I first I found myself thinking that this would be an easy assignment, but I ended up facing a man called Sid Renen.- Callis explained. -At that point I had lost my trusted swords during another mission and I was unarmed.- The shame and guilt was palpable around him, almost like a thick mist. -I lost that fight, but kept chasing Mes Renen into the island.-
Callis made a pause, as if he was trying to gather his thoughts. -Things become hazy once I got into the island. I ended up collapsing and when I woke up I was on JHWAB custody and developed the strange powers you noticed.- He made appear a sword out of thin air. -The JHWAB doesn’t understand this power, but to me it was a blessing, as I think I understand it.- He grabbed the hilt of the blade and performed an elegant and complex flourish before allowing it to turn into specks of light. -These blades are my heart.- For the first time a shy hint of a smile appeared on Callis’ face. -They respond to my will, mind and spirit, becoming as strong and as sharp as my determination.- He made appear a couple, grabbing them by the tip and launching them against a rock wall, the swords shattered into specks of light. -If I don’t will them to be, they cannot hurt anybody Mes Miyata.- He turned his face away, shame returning to his face. -I might not remember what happened on that island, but I do know my own truth.- Once again he summoned a blade, picking it up and rising the hilt to his eye level. -My soul became a blade, or maybe it was a blade all along.- His shame melted away and his eyes burned with unwavering determination. -If I am a blade, then my duty is to punish the wicked and protect the innocent, just as my knightly bows ask of me.-
Callis lowered the sword with a quick slashing motion, allowing it to vanish as he did. He stopped talking, lowering his head with shyness, as if he realized that he had opened his heart a bit too much to this group, mostly strangers. He tried to talk but his keen senses noticed a sound, among the silence. The Old Man was coughing and soon the scent of blood reaches the Beast Knight’s nostrils. The Man in White was bleeding profusely from his mouth and eyes. Something was off. He looked at Mizuki and weakly managed to utter these words.
-Kill me…-
As soon as Alexander shot, Garo shook his head muttering. -Here we go again.- And launching several arrows in quick succession using Kami no Shomei to speed up his arrows. Angelico reacted at the same time, launching several whips of thorns towards the enemy, trying to catch him in a net of wires, arrows and whips coming from all sides. The Kisekian Assassin didn’t move, as every attack hit the strange bubble like shield he had around him, but never reached him. Both Garo’s and Angelico’s attacks got disintegrated upon clashing with the shield, quickly falling down and seemingly being pulverized by some kind of high pressure. Alexander wires remained on the verge of the sphere, while the Colt bullet kept spinning against it, sparks flying as the projectile spun faster and faster, suspended mid-air. -Useless and primitive, like everything in this planet.- The Alien Warrior taunted them as he walked, the sphere keeping Alexander’s attacks, the only ones that survived, at arm’s length from the enemy. -I’m giving you one more chance to abandon your lost cause of a planet and swear loyalty to me and the Kisekian Empire, you’ll be treated fairly, once you accept the truth...-
As he talked Angelico used his uncanny stealth to vanish from his line of sight, and move behind the enemy. He jumped pulling out a rapier made of rose plants, trying to stab the Kisekian Assassin from the back as he shouted -DIE FASCIST!-. The bubble shield stopped the attack. The Kisekian Assassin smirked and flicked two fingers in Angelico’s direcion. A spectral and skeletal hand appeared, almost as big as the Kisekian himself, mimicking the motion and hitting the Phantom Thief of the Rose right in the gut, launching him across the roof. Angelico hit the concrete had rolling and sliding until reaching the edge of the rooftop. - And that truth is that I am superior to everyone of you…- He stopped for a second, still puzzled at the Colt’s insistence, even against his Gravitational Armor. - So bring your leader to me, so you can discuss your unconditional surrender and servitude to the superior beings of the Universe.- His tone had confidence, but his eyes were still moving to every side, as if he was still alert for more underhanded tricks.
Meanwhile, Falken, who was still inside the ship, activated the systems, turning to Fumi and asking her. -Have you ever shot a bloody turret?- She shook her head and hands, but Falken just smiled one of his creepy smiles. -Wanna learn how?-

John dove through the portal, finally returning to his regular form. He stumbled a few steps before collapsing to one knee. His hair was limp with sweat, hanging on his face like lichen. Every breath shuddered his whole body, making his wings shake like waving branches. “I’m okay. Just dry.” He gasped to the others, trying to shake off his headache. He couldn’t make a spark of flames if he tried. A certain wrathful lust was wracking his mind. He always saw every woman he saw as a wondrous, unique marvel. Right now, that was multiplied. Mizuki was a goddess right now. Her slender form perfectly balanced, black clothing making her a beautiful shadow. He looked away, biting his lip. Seducing her would do nobody any good. He doubted she'd be receptive for one, but more importantly, even if he drained her, that just made her useless instead of him.
He sat, trying to stay out of the way and conserve energy until he managed to properly drain somebody. He half-listened to Alex and Callis talk about Sakurajima, not noticing anything especially interesting about it. He didn’t notice anything about the old man either, not looking his way or being close enough to hear him. John just leaned back and closed his eyes and fell into a light doze. A thin smile came to his lips as dreams how healing came to mind.
“Ah, fuck.” Eve watched the alien casually deflect all attacks before smacking Angelo away like nothing. “Garo, get Angelo! And don’t let him do that again!” Eve walked towards the odd man, trying to track his strange rolling eyes. They were almost hypnotic in their movements. Hopefully they weren’t. She was enjoying watching them. “I’m the leader you’re looking for! But before I kneel, I have a question.” She grabbed the oversized gun she had picked up off the opposing army. “Did they steal these from you too?” The shot knocked her on her ass with the recoil of it. What a kick! Hopefully this thing works!

Before Callis started talking, Alex made sure to turn on the voice recorder on his watch with a tiny switch in his pocket. So Callis was on a mission that had to do with this boy they've been escorting around? And he just so happened to get these blades that bend to his will? Callis didn't appear to be the type to lie...but it seemed a little too convenient that he'd simply acquire them out of pure coincidence. Surely there must have been someone else on the island who gave Callis these powers. But why would someone be this charitable? Alex wasn't able to inquire further before the old man began to bleed from his eyes and mouth, asking Mizuki to kill him.
The young assassin stared at the old man with a blank expression on her face, calculating her next move. Normally she'd oblige and stab the man straight through his skull...but he still had vital information for their mission. She kneeled down and looked directly at him. "Not yet. Tell us anything you think you can that would help us deal with the shapeshifter. You do that, and I will make your death painless." She stated, holding up her dagger. Alex looked at the two of them with a small amount of concern. He wasn't versed in healing magic, so there was little he could do here. But he kept his recorder going to catch anything the old man could say before he died.

Alex takes a cautious step back. "Garo, I'm not a fan of dying young." The wire master hides one of his arms inside his coat as he puts the Coat away, however he isn't simply just putting his gun away. With his arms hidden he begins to releases wire threads towards the ground. As the wire threads piece through the floor, the gruesome hunter makes sure to use his oversize coat to his advantage as he hides the already incredible difficult to perceive wires behind the large fabric of his attire. "So who exactly is commanding us to bow?" he asked as he begins to crouch down. His body position appears to be shifting towards a bow, yet the wire master is simply shifting his position in a fashions to hide his wire threads and his hand gestures as he commands his wire threads to move underneath the position of this pretentious alien overlord. Alex's tactic is simple, but he is simply waiting for a distraction to begin his assault, and a moment later Eve arrives with a big gun. "That will do," he thought to himself as he clenches his fist causing the wire threads around the alien to spring up like a series of small spikes emerging from the ground seeking to penetrate the feet of the alien before expanding further into his torso and head.
The young bounty hunter keeps his eyes on the Beast Knight as he explains his former assignment He didn't pay much attention to the old man's coughing and couldn't hear the words of the dying old man. Yet he did hear Alex's assistant perfectly fine. "Are you seriously trying to persuade this man by offering him his own death?" Jose asked in disbelieve of Mizuki. The earth shaker then matches forward as he plans to stop the assassin, however his feet transform into lead as he notices the old man's bleeding. "Holy Shit..." he manage to mutter as he sees bleed pouring out of the old man's eyes and mouth. "What the hell did you do to him?!" he asked in shock. The bounty hunter legs once more begin to move this time as he begins to rush towards the old man to get a better look at him and to see if there was anything he can do.
