“Ew.” Cosmina wrinkled her nose at the results of her shot. She yelped when the blob’s head grew back and charged up a mildly more aggressive attack she fired for the blob’s torso, seeking to splatter it apart at a more fundamental level. “Good work shrimp! We’re heading for the rapids!” Anna leaned in and skipped forwards. “The what!? No!” They closed with Ariana and dove into the whitewater. Ariana frowned and drove forwards with her, slipping on her board as she entered the rushing waters. “I won’t let you get away, Anna! Don’t worry Cosmina, I’ll save you!”

The platform rocked and swayed in the churning waters Elyssa lead them to Trying not to lose her balance, Loveline held on to Elyssa. She was starting to regret going along with this. But she had a feeling Anna would take these rapids. And Ariana definitely would. Loveline couldn't let herself fall behind. Especially since she was sharing her platform with Elyssa, and that should give her a sort of advantage.
She looked at her ally. Is it really okay to be partnering with her like this? They fought just a few minutes ago. Sure Loveline felt better after that, and even more so after talking to Ariana. But letting it all go completely in such a short time just wasn't possible. It felt weird being so close to her now, and it was even weirder knowing they were depending on each other to win this race. Love just hoped her lingering feelings wouldn't ruin their chances. Especially not in the rapids.

Cosmina’s shot ripped through the blob, sending several pieces of its gelatinous mass out into the nearby waters and practically halting its advance. The mound of robe quickly reformed and the bits of mass pulled themselves out of the water and reformed itself, a large hole now in the torso part of its robe and showing off its stomach. “I’m so sick of that stupid lance!” The blob cried, rocketing into the entrance.
Everyone filed into the canyon of rapids, quickly feeling the current sweep them up and begin carrying their platforms down the slope. Elyssa held onto Loveline’s waist with one arm to keep herself upright, while the blob simply attached itself more firmly to the platform with its own sticky mass. The first obstacle came when there was a large ramp approaching.
Positions: Blob -> Ariana Loveline/Elyssa -> stay Anna/Cosmina - stay Ariana -> Blob
The blob was currently in the lead, but put the brakes on to make sure the cliff wasn’t as far down as she was imagining. “What the heck did I get myself into…” The blob mumbled. Elyssa and Loveline’s platform continued to speed forward though. “See ya later, copycat!” The adventurer called over, sticking her tongue out.
“Wheeee!” Ariana yelled as she rocketed ahead, bouncing and skipping over the thrashing waves. Every motion nearly threw her from the platform, but she just clung tighter and laughed in delight. She shot straight up the ramp and launched herself off like she was trying to go into orbit.
Unlike Ariana, Love and Elyssa had some problems with dodging obstacles. Sure, they could help each other stay balanced on the platform, but syncing up to move the platform left and right was tougher. That’s why it was no surprise when Ariana just rocketed past them.
“N-no fair! She must be using her powers to get through this!” Loveline said. She didn’t really believe it though. She was actually super glad that Ariana was having so much fun. “Well,” she added, “we can’t let her beat us that easily! Any ideas?”
A confident smile spread across Elyssa’s face. “I might have something. But first...hold on!” Elyssa said as they rocketed off the edge, the adventurer gripping Loveline’s waist with one arm and the back of the platform with the other. Love was taken off guard by Elyssa’s touch for a second, but managed to compose herself and put her own arm around Elyssa. “Holding on!” she responded. They crashed down onto the water below and began to race down the canyon further down.
Anna stumbled coming in. The waves were rougher than she expected, making her rock and tilt wildly for a few seconds. The weight on her spear didn’t help, throwing her further off balance. They failed to make progress ahead of the others, but Cosmina’s attack did keep the blob behind them. “Good work scrawny. I just might keep you if you keep being useful!” She appreciatively patted Cosmina’s head. Cosmina responded with a submissive sniffle and cowered on the spear.
As the group raced down the rapids, the next obstacle seemed to appear before them. A massive rock was positioned directly in the middle of the path, with a strange green ogre-like being with a more fish-like face stood on it. The hulking figure held a large spear made from a sharpened rock and a nearby tree trunk. It noticed the approaching team and brought its spear down upon the water in front of itself, creating a large ripple of water that would surely throw everyone off balance when they tried to go around the creature and its platform.
Positions: Ariana -> Stay Love/Elyssa -> Blob Anna/Cosmina -> Stay Blob -> Love/Elyssa
“AWESOME!” Ariana yelled, falling back to tilt her board the other way. With her different position, she bounced over the wave created by the spear and landed safely, continuing on. “Shit!” Anna yelled, trying to turn around the wave. It slammed the side of her platform, knocking her flat and sending her spinning out. Cosmina yelped and bounced on the spear, swimsuit tearing all the more. She still dangled on, but her position was far more precarious now. Anna used her spear as a crutch to vault to her feet and continue along her path, still just ahead of the blob. She took note of Cosmina’s situation and yanked her off. “Oh, thank-” Cosmina said before the spear was shoved through the front of her suit instead. “...nooooooo…” She quietly wailed as they carried on through the whitewater.
The ripple was much harder on the unbalanced Elyssa and Loveline, who were thrown violently off their platform and began to feel the current pulling them down the path. Time almost seemed to slow down for Loveline as she flew into the water. No, this couldn’t be happening! She wasn’t supposed to drown! “Elyssa! Grappling hook!” She yelled, her head barely above the water and her arm desperately reaching towards Elyssa.
Fortunately, the adventurer had already fired her grappling hook midfall, and when they crashed into the water, she quickly scanned the area to find Love several feet in front of herself. “Crap...hang on!” She yelled, making the hook retract to pull herself rapidly through the water, holding out her hand to Loveline while trying to keep her own head above water. She made up a lot of ground quickly, and was now within arms length of the shapeshifter. “Here, grab it!” Elyssa yelled.
The pull of the rapids made reaching Elyssa’s hand difficult. She struggled fruitlessly before Elyssa got close enough for Loveline to finally reach out properly. Again it was all almost moving at a snail’s pace, her fingers stretching first, then her palm, then her arm, all reaching out to wrap around Elyssa’s own hand.
With a smile, Elyssa pressed the button to retract her grappling hook fully, pulling both of them out of the water in a shower of droplets. “Hahaha! Saved ya there! Hang on!” Unhooking her grappling hook from the tree that was now behind them, Elyssa aimed themselves at the platform and fired it at the front of it, letting them both fall onto the surface. Before Love hit the ground though, Elyssa unsummoned her grappling hook and repositioned the shapeshifter into a full body hold, letting Elyssa’s legs take the brunt of the landing.
“Whew, we made it! You alright, Lovely?” Elyssa asked, looking down at her. Love held up a finger. She looked like she was about to throw up, her throat stretched as if a ball was moving up through it, then she spat out a lot of water. “Yeah. Just fine.” She put her body back to how it was supposed to be. “Great! Then let’s catch that blob!” She yelled.
The blob fared far better against the wave. “Ooooooh...that’s so cool!” She said with sparkles in her eyes, letting her platform violently sail upward and over the waves, chasing down Ariana. “Come here, you...strong person!” The blob blurted out. She had little idea what all this slang it picked up meant! Lashing out its right arm, the blob tried to grab Ariana and pull her off her platform and onto her own.
“Neener neener, can’t catch me!” Ariana delightedly swerved just out of reach, leaving the blob grasping at air. The blob looked on with rage and followed the water gem girl down the pathway.
Things began to take a turn when the group happened upon a large cave mouth at the edge of the canyon. “...crap...it probably goes through one of these islands.” Elyssa muttered. The group approached the cave mouth and all went inside, quickly finding that it was far darker inside than it looked. Several holes let in a small amount of sunlight, but it was still difficult to see where to go. The blob let out a frustrated sigh. “Why are human eyes so crap?!” She asked in annoyance. Her speech then stopped when she heard a strange sound coming from ahead.
Positions: Ariana -> Anna/Cosmina Blob -> Elyssa/Loveline Anna/Cosmina -> Blob Elyssa/Loveline -> Ariana
The room they entered was filled with a large amount of dangling vine-line ropes that hung down from the ceiling. “Don’t touch those!” Both Elyssa and the blob shouted out. The blob was the first to touch one though, the tongue latching onto her right arm and moving with it before the blob had to redirect her platform and pull it off just in time to avoid the bite from an extremely long eel-like creature that the tongue belonged to.
“Eh?” Ariana blinked when a sticky tongue latched onto her arm. “Oh noooo, I’m sorry!” She apologized as she punched the lights out of the descending eel-creature. It wasn’t enough as she plowed into ever more tongues. At least a dozen eels descended and bit onto her, making her stumble and get entangled in ever more tongues. “Argh! Stop it! I am not edible!” She thrashed, attacking with fists and blasts of water.
Through the darkness of the cave it was hard for Loveline to see far, but she managed to see the tongues. And more importantly, she saw them starting to envelop Ariana.
“No, Riri!” She shouted, but she didn’t know what she could do from here. Without gem form, she had no long-range attacks and illusions wouldn’t work on these things. What could she do? Then she get an idea. “Sorry, I’m borrowing this!” She grabbed Elyssa’s grappling hook and aimed it the descending creatures. Don’t die, she thought while firing it but she was referring to the creatures rather than Ariana in this case.
The hook sailed through the air and pulled off several tongues from Ariana’s body before the main body could shoot forward. However...many of those tongues then latched onto the grappling hook, which led to the creatures all shoving their weight onto the rope and pulling up on it sharply, Elyssa and Loveline almost pulled upward before Elyssa could unsummon her grappling hook again.
“Whoa...nice move, but ya gotta let go next time!” She told Loveline, moving her platform so she’s next to Ariana and held Love out so she could assist in helping remove the remaining ones. “Are you okay?” Love asked, while trying to carefully unwrap Ariana. After Scylla, she learned her lesson about carelessly hurting creatures. “Pretty great except- Ow!- they’re all biting me!” Ariana punched a few more off.
“Um…” Love thought about how she could speed clearing them all up. If she changed them so their teeth weren’t as sharp? No, then they wouldn’t be able to feed in the future. Oh, what if they thought there was nothing there to bite. “I got it!” She illusioned up a sensation of numbness in the creature’s mouths, recalling a visit to a dentist and the anesthetic he’d injected her with. That was before she mastered her powers and she was very young, so it wasn’t the most pleasant experience, but hopefully it worked! With Loveline’s help, Ariana freed herself from the last of the eels. “Thanks Love!” She offered her hand for a high five which Loveline gladly accepted.
Anna lowered her body, crouching so she could make tight turns. Expertly she weaved between the tongues, pulling ahead when none slowed her down when a tongue proved unavoidable, she stuck her spear in its path, avoiding any bites herself and leaving Cosmina to deflect them with her sonic attacks. “Don’t use me as bait!” Cosmina yelled down at Anna. “Shut up or you’re swimming the rest of the way!” Anna growled up at her and her lips were zipped.
When the group finally broke through the cave and back into daylight, they were faced with one last challenge. The environment they came into seemed...familiar. The walls around them seemed to rise toward the sky much taller than originally thought. Before them lay a familiar sight...to the right was a massive whirlpool...and to the left...an angry and healed Scylla. The blob turned and grinned at them.
“Surprised?! Hah! Anything is possible no matter what came before!” The blob boasted, charging toward the thin game between the whirlpool’s edge and Scylla’s range.
Elyssa looked on with pure joy in her eyes. “Oh hey, it’s your old friends! Least now I can help you guys out, right?” Elyssa yelled out.
“You helped lots last time!” Ariana blushed as she leaned in to keep up her speed. “Well yeah, just way above the room! Had to make my dramatic entrance, ya know?” Elyssa called over, flashing Ariana a winning grin and a thumbs up. “Every entrance you make is dramatic!”
While the two bantered, Loveline quieted down. Why did they have to go back here? Why so soon at least? This wasn’t where she wanted to be, especially now that Scylla seemed far angrier. She looked at its fully healed form. Sorry, she thought. I won’t let it happen again.
Ariana leaned in and went full force, but Anna was already slightly ahead and only gaining distance now. “Hold tight, shrimp!” Anna hugged the corner of Charybdis, just barely out of Scylla’s reach. Cosmina screamed as they rounded the corner at breakneck speeds, coming spinning out of the whirlpool to continue jetting on ahead.
Elyssa rolled her eyes when Anna ‘won’ the race in the rapids. “Ah well, the race isn’t over yet!” Elyssa called out, leaning forward and bursting through the exit as well. She continued to lean in to try and catch Anna, letting out a small chuckle and looking down at Loveline. “So how was that? Regret saying yes to going in there?” She asked jokingly.
Elyssa snapped Loveline back from her contemplation. “Hm? Oh, sure… I mean, no? We got some nice time, so that’s good.” The answer was what Elyssa wanted to hear. “Great to hear! See, intense moments like those are why I do these things. Now, do you want to be let down, or hang out here longer?” She asked.
“Put me down, please. We’re out of the rapids so it should be fine now. It’ll be easier to save you if you start falling off that way.” Love answered. Nodding, Elyssa turned Loveline upright and placed her on the other side of the platform, leaning in to allow the both of them to speed toward Anna and Cosmina.
The blob, unfortunately, had less luck coming out of the rapids. Her platform slammed into a rock hidden just below the water’s surface and went spinning off toward Scylla’s side of the path. “No no no no...crap!” She paniced, diving down to avoid the first Scylla head that tried to bite her. A second head positioned itself directly above the platform and began to descend, but only found an empty robe and a thin layer of gelatinous mass. The mass congealed at the edge of the platform and pulled it down until it was finally out of Scylla’s range, whereupon it reformed back into the robe.
The blob let out a frustrated yell when she saw that the others were now decently ahead of herself. “Are you kidding me?! That’s it, I’m going all out!” And with that, the blob decided to sacrifice some of its stability to try catching up to the others.

Anna came out of the rapids a little too fast and hard. As the waters slowed, she nearly fell from her board when she overcorrected. In an instant, Ariana was neck and neck with her. “Cosmina! Take my hand!” Ariana reached out, but Cosmina was yanked away with a yelp, hand fruitlessly outstretched. “Blast the sailor!” Anna commanded her weapon. “No! Never! I won’t attack my friends!” Cosmina shook her head. “Oh, alright. I guess we’ll have to use our heads here.” Anna scratched her own noggin before grinning and pointing her spear at Ariana. The end shot out and smashed into Ariana’s kidney Cosmina-first.
Ariana let out a grunt of pain and fell back, letting Anna keep her lead. “Good work shrimp! You make a great battering ram on top of being a cute little sonar dish!” Anna retracted her spear, only to find it occupied by anything but a swimsuit. “Shrimp?” She looked in the water, seeing her quickly retreating into the distance before vanishing into a door that appeared out of nowhere. “Aw. Well, at least I kept myself a nice flag.” Ann twirled her spear, giggling at the way the swimsuit fluttered.

With the pressure of the rapids out of the way, Love could focus on the race again. They managed to leave the blob in the dust for now, so Loveline could safely ignore her. But Anna was quickly turning out to be an unpleasant person. She smashed the impaled Cosmina into Ariana and then waved Cos's swimsuit like a flag when the poor gremlin fell off.
"Cosmina!" Love yelled out. "Elyssa, we need to help her, too!" But they didn't really need to. The water pushed Cosmina through her kaspa's door. "Okay, maybe we don't. But now we double have to beat Anna to make her pay!"
One of Loveline's arms shrunk into her shoulder, while the other grew longer, thinner, and more whip-like. "You can't treat Cosmina like that!" She yelled and whipped at Anna's legs. (Stability 3>2, Attack 2). With Elyssa's help she had no problem keeping her balance while they moved forward, only slightly trailing behind Ariana (speed 3).

Cosmina flopped from nowhere back into the flowing river. Her new swimsuit was a pastel rainbow, horizontal stripes of color all down her torso. She popped her arms from the water and waved at her friends. “Hey! Over here! Pick me up!”
Unfortunately, the group had all charged past by this point. But there was one person speeding forward on her platform, noticing a person in the water. The heroic instincts the blob received from Elyssa kicked in and the blob looked on with a confident smile. “So they abandoned you, huh? Well fear not!” The blob called out, extending its arm out and grabbing Cosmina by the arm.
Stumbling slightly at the lack of weight(4 balance, rolled 6, -4 speed), the blob hoised the doll onto its platform and plopped her down behind herself. (Speed 7). “Thanks Elys- AH! You’re not Elyssa! Don’t eat me!” Cosmina cringed away. “I’m sorry about shooting you! Anna made me! She said she hates slime, what a jerk, am I right, ahahaha!”
The blob laughed at the stammering. “I am not going to eat you! I only eat living things...and you’re kinds...dead. And while I am annoyed at your dumb sonic attack...I couldn’t just let you float in the ocean! Who knows what are in these waters, am I right?” She asked, flashing a grin. “Now don’t make me regret this, because I will throw you back in the water! Hear me?” She said to the doll. “Yes ma’m! Understood! I’ll do what you say!” Cosmina bowed, hands outstretched in a posture of submission.
“Great! You probably want something to hang onto, right?” The blob asked, its feet beginning to shift and move away, reforming at the back of the platform into a small black chair with smooth, wood-like surface. The blob was a little shorter than it was before. “Comfortable back there?” It asked. “Uh…” Cosmina hesitantly climbed into the chair, worried at all moments that it would suddenly reach out and eat her. “Yes… ma’m. Want me to shoot at Anna?”
The blob looked at her with a surprised look. “You’d actually shoot at a human?! Dang. While she is annoying...I’d rather nobody died. No, what I want are clothes! Cooler than Elyssa’s!” And with that, the two sped past Loveline and Elyssa.
---
Balance 4, rolled 4. 4 points remaining.
“Did you hear Cosmina?” Elyssa noticed the distinct lack of the little seamstress atop Anna’s spear and turned to look for her in the water. Instead, she found her atop the rapidly-approaching blob’s platform, sitting comfortably in a chair the blob must have summoned. “She just can’t keep out of trouble, can she? Try to save her if she gets close, okay?” Elyssa said to Love as she leaned forward, trying to keep a healthy distance from the blob. She did not need to be eaten twice today! Unfortunately, they came close indeed as the blob passed, waving at Elyssa with a cocky grin. However, Cosmina didn’t seem to be struggling at all. Instead, she had spools of thread in her lap and was furiously working, whipping up a swimsuit faster than humanly possible. “What are you doing?” Elyssa asked as she pulled ahead again. “The blob needs clothes and by God I shall clothe her! Just look at that robe; so plain!” Elyssa stared for a second before shaking her head and waving to the blob as she began to pull away with Love’s help.

“I don’t even have Cosmina any-wah!” Anna was toppled when Love’s arm entangled her legs. She tried to right herself, but she went spinning out of control and smashed into one of the cliffs bordering the river. She was thrown from her platform to take a dip, leaving her far behind. “Hey, good job Love!” Ariana stumbled when she looked back to praise Loveline, but she kept going forward at a blistering pace anyway. She passed her and stayed ahead, wheeling close to the finish line at last.
Meanwhile, Cosmina looked over her threads. “So, Blob, uh, you have a name you prefer? Calling you Blob feels kind of insulting.” Cosmina’s fingers moved like spiders to weave something together faster than humanly possible.

Anna was thrown overboard which was slightly more than Love was aiming for, but she wasn't gonna complain after Cosmina had a similar experience. Anna couldn't retaliate after that and Loveline had no problems growing her limbs back to their original form (balance 4=4). In that time, the blob managed to get slightly closer to them. Love and Elyssa saw that Cosmina was now onboard, sewing a new swimsuit for it. Okay. Loveline chose not to question that right now. It wasn't eating her, so she better not remind the blob it eats (and spits out) people.
She pushed onwards (speed=4), flashing Ariana a smile at the compliment. "Hey, be careful. I won't beat you on a technicality!" She said after Ariana stumbled slightly.

(Balance 4, roll 2)
“My name...hm…” The blob thought about this. The name ‘Elyssa Miyata’ popped into her head...but that was the original. She couldn’t just take the name of someone else! “You can call me...Jamie! Yeah, that sounds good.” The blob stated.
Up ahead, Elyssa noticed the blob approaching and turned to Loveline, glancing at the finish line. “Hey Love, I got an idea. Can you give me the cape you have in gem girl form?” She asked.
“My gem form cape? Um…” She looked inside herself to see how she was doing on mana. Not too well yet. But what if she could just, like, semi-transform? She’d never done that before. If she could just make an article of clothing… She focused and before she knew it, her red cloak appeared around her neck.
“Apparently I can!” Love said and handed Elyssa the cloak. Elyssa smirked and wrapped it around herself. “Thanks Lovely! I’ll be seeing ya soon!” With a wave, Elyssa fired her grappling hook at the approaching platform and landed on top, driving her cloak-covered fist into the blob’s stomach. The slime tried to eat her fist...but the cloak stopped it.
“...how clever!” Jamie exclaimed, bringing up her right leg and kicking Elyssa in the side, causing the adventurer to stumble just enough to allow the blob to latch onto the cape and toss it into the sea behind them. “...well there goes that idea.” Elyssa muttered, jumping back onto her feet and putting her fists up in a combat stance. The blob smiled and stepped forward, unleashing a massive right hook…
...that Elyssa dodged, using her right leg to kick the blob’s calf and grab her robe. “Annnnnnnnnd you rolled a 1 in CQC.” Elyssa joked, gripping the robe and tossing the blob off the platform. She looked at Cosmina and admired her handiwork. “Welp, that takes care of the blob! What’s that?” Elyssa asked, pointing to the swimsuit.
“I was making her a swimsuit, but I guess she’s gone now. Oh well, you’re the same size! It can be yours for only 20 bucks!” Cosmina held up the swimsuit for Elyssa to admire.
The adventurer admired the suit in Cosmina’s hands. “Hm…$20 is a lot for a suit…” She mused. Strangely...the chair Cosmina was sitting on began to shift. Tiny threads began to grow out of the bottom while Elyssa shrugged her shoulders and turned to the front, putting her weight to make them keep moving. “I’ll get back to you l…” Her words stopped when the threads touched her heels. “...not this agaiiiiiiiiiiin!” She called out as the slime devoured her once more.
After a few seconds, Jamie stood where Elyssa was, same height and more accurate than before. She grabbed the suit Cosmina made and whipped it on with blinding speed. “Ah...thanks, Cos!” Jamie said to the doll. “Guess I rolled a 20 in stealth, huh?” She said, smiling.
“Uh… no problem, Jamie!” Cosmina gave her a hesitant thumbs-up. She wouldn’t be so calm if she didn’t know Elyssa was perfectly fine. “Hey, speaking of rolls, have you actually played D&D? I mean, I guess not. I should totally DM a game with everybody else here when we’re done.” Cosmina stroked her chin, thinking up all sorts of diabolical adventures she could send her friends on.
Jamie looked at Cosmina with confusion. “Uuuuuuuuh...I vaguely know what it is, but can’t say I have ever played! Elyssa hasn’t either. But small talk for later!” With a look of steely determination, Jamie scooped up what remained of Elyssa’s stuff and rocketed toward Loveline.
(Balance 5, roll 3, speed 9, attack 1)
The blob slowed down slightly as it approached Loveline’s platform, getting side by side with the shapeshifter. “Nice plan! Here, you can have the trophy I won!” Jamie called out, throwing Elyssa’s stuff at her. Not expecting it, it hit her right in the face.
“H-hey!” she said, bright as a beet. She didn’t want Elyssa’s clothes, especially not something that touched her so intimately! But she did lose them after trying to copy Love’s original plan and failing harder. Sort of. So clearly Love was better than her! And didn’t people in the wild west keep pelts on their belts as trophies? She decided to tie Elyssa’s stuff to her own swimsuit. It would be easier to carry it so she can give it back to Elyssa, or that was her excuse at least.
“Well, I don’t need Elyssa to beat you! Now I can win all on my own!”” Loveline exclaimed with a smug grin. Jamie smirked and gave a thumbs-up. “Now that’s what I like to hear! Too bad I’m going to win anyway!” And with that, the platform sped off toward the finish line, passing by Ariana along the way.

Ariana blinked in surprise when the blob pulled past her in a brand new outfit. “Huh? I guess Cosmina made that…” She looked back to see what happened to Elyssa and saw Love with her swimsuit tied to her hip. “Argh, not again!” Ariana sighed. She winced and kept plowing forward, keeping neck and neck with the blob. “I can’t let her win… I can’t let her win… LOVE! DO THIS FOR ME!” Ariana whipped an anchor back and it dug into the front of Love’s platform. “Hoooo-RAH!” Ariana’s muscles flexed and she pulled Love forwards with all her might.

Loveline's bragging was somewhat undermined when the blob sped up started leading the pack. They were now approaching the sparkling finish line so Love had only one shot and she wasn't sure what to do, having already put all her weight on the edge of her platform.
"LOVE!" Ariana came to her rescue. "DO THIS FOR ME!” She tossed her anchor like a hook and swung Loveline forward, past Cosmina and the blob. The finish line was in reach! But since her plan of winning all on her own was already ruined, she might as well return the favor.
"Hold on, Riri!" Loveline stepped on the anchor to make sure it doesn't detach, then grabbed the chain connecting it to Ariana. She tugged with all of her puny human strength to give Ariana even the slightest boost, although most of that was probably coming from the momentum off of Ariana's own swing. Regardless, Loveline passed through the finish line and her platform hit the soft beach sand, skidding along it until it reached a full stop and Love stumbled off of it. Love put her hands on her knees and took some deep breaths. She was somewhat exhausted after all that excitement. But then she smiled. Then she laughed. Then she took of Elyssa's hat and tossed it in the air, jumping up after it.
"Yay, I won!" She exclaimed. "Thank you, Riri!" She jumped in to hug Ariana as she hit the beach. "Couldn't have done it without you. And Elyssa." Love looked around.
"I guess Elyssa's not here now, huh? Hey! Blobby! Where does Elyssa go when you eat her?"

“Wha-hey! What gives?!” Jamie cried out when Ariana’s anchor attached itself to Loveline’s platform and practically catapulted her across the finish line. She had wasted so much time fighting Elyssa that even Ariana managed to cross the finish line before herself, the blob skidding into a close 3rd place. A mix of disappointment and satisfaction could be seen conflicted across her face.
“Hey, congrats you two!” Jamie called over. “So you managed to beat me. Not that it was rough cuz ya know...it was everyone against me and all that.” Jamie joked, reflexively going to pat Loveline on the back...then realizing that she shouldn’t get near the others. Pulling her hand back, Jamie leaned back against a palm tree while she thought about the question.
“Well first of all, you can call me Jamie. As for what happens with people I eat…” She looked up toward the sky. How to explain this? “There’s actually a secret room inside of the hub area, an extra challenge if you will. That room is connected to me! So whomever gets munched has a shot at something cool! No idea if Elyssa managed to get anything out of there yet, but it’s pretty neat.”
Jamie continued to stare up at the sky as she considered what to reveal. “...huh...she could get something pretty useful for that abyss down there. Well anyway, here is what you won!” Jamie beamed, pointing to a sandstone pedestal a few meters away that held 3 small silver discs on top. One disc had tiny gold lining, one had white lining, and one had bronze.
“They’re mini versions of those platforms! Just put some mana inside and bam! It grows to full size right at your feet. Give them out how you like!” Jamie gave a confident thumbs-up in their direction.

Ariana squeezed Love tight in response, probably a little too tight with her blood still pumping. “We did it! There’s only one more room left!” She twirled Love and stopped to listen to the blob. “Woah, that’s cool! I want to do an extra challenge! Er, with my clothes on though.” Ariana blushed and glanced at the swimsuit dangling from Love’s hip. She wasn’t too distracted to snatch the disks from the air. She observed them in her palm and quickly spilled the golden one into Loveline’s hand. “Here. You were first place, so you get gold.” She smiled down at the race’s victor. “You did good. Really good.”
Cosmina stumbled off of Jaime’s platform and skipped over to Ariana and Love. “I made a swimsuit!” She declared with delight. “Yeah, for the person we were racing… well, she seems nice enough.” Ariana shrugged. “Hey, are you able to leave the ruin? I’d feel bad leaving you here.”

The blob, or Jamie as it apparently preferred to be called now, explained it was a ruin room of its own. That was a very strange idea for sure, but it made a sort of sense. Although in that case, where was the exit? Where did Elyssa pop out from? She couldn't have just come out of her the same way she went in. So if there was an extra exit, could they use that to go in? No, it probably didn't work like that... Stupid weird ruins.
Loveline could feel her heart beating faster at Ariana's praise. "Thank you," she answered while taking her platform. She looked it over while Cosmina and Ariana talked, then joined back in when Ariana asked Jamie if she'd be staying here.
"Yeah, are you going back into an ice cube or can you leave now?"

The question seemed to catch Jamie off guard. "...uh...you know, I hadn't even thought of that..." Jamie stated. Her memory was a patchwork of the blob's own and Elyssa's, so it almost felt like she had already lived outside for a while. "I uh...guess we'll see what happens! I don't think it'd be a great idea though since...ya know...copy thing." Jamie moved her arms in a wave pattern, making them undulate up and down unnaturally. The Elyssa part knew that having such a creature out in the world would be bad news, as the personality wasn't static. If Jamie absorbed someone more nefarious...she'd become more evil too.
Glancing toward the lake that led back into the main room, Jamie pointed toward it confidently. "Well, one challenge left! Straight downward! You all uh..." Jamie's hands interlocked behind her head. "...don't mind if I uh...fill in for Elyssa, right?" She asked, looking at the others.

Ariana looked away when Jamie waved her arms. It reminded her too much of her relatives. “I mean… okay, you can come. But don’t try to eat us!” She wagged her finger. “Woo! We’ve got the toughest thing in here on our side!” Cosmina jumped for joy. “Do you?” Came a voice from the shore. She wheeled to see Anna, leaning on her spear. “Ah! Jamie, protect!” Cosmina dove behind her stronger friends. “Leave us alone Anna! You already lost!” Ariana formed an anchor and spun it. “I want those platforms, and you’re gonna give them to me!” Anna tapped her spear and its segments came apart, linked by chains. She spun the segments but didn’t approach, keeping an eye on Jamie.

Loveline nodded while Ariana told Jamie she could come. "Yeah, you're welcome. You did help Cos, after all."
While they planned their next moves, they were ambushed by a familiar voice.
"Hey, you can't have these! We won them fair and square! If you want to get the treasure, you have to get to it first. Besides, they're just platforms. You can take one of the ones we were just using."
Loveline was really not liking Anna so far! Maybe she's have lent her the platform if she asked nicely, but who does she think she is to demand all their platforms? Love hung back, staying behind Ariana and Jamie. They were a good buffer if Anna ended up attacking; Love was more of a subterfuge type of fighter.

The order not to eat them made Jamie balk in fake offense. "I would never just...eat you guys! Er...from this point forward!" She declared, batting the suit hanging from Loveline's hip. This was so exciting...she was going to join them on an adventure! A goofy smile spread across her face, which shrunk slightly when Anna showed up and demanded the platforms. Jamie smiled confidently at Cosmina cowering behind her, getting a boost of ego and stepping forward.
"Ooooh? So you want to take on all of us for some platforms? I mean...I'm down." The blob stretched her arms back and forth, Anna watching in annoyance. She knew she could probably beat most of them one on one...but all of them at once seemed a bit much. She tapped her spear and made it link back to normal. "Yeah yeah, ya might have a freaking point. Catch ya later, nerds!" And with that, Anna sprinted to the hole in the ground and dove inside. Jamie shrugged her shoulders and turned to the others.
"Well that was anticlimactic! So do you guys want to take a break for a second after that awesome race, or follow the jerk and move on with this whole thing?" She asked, leaning her head against her hands.

Loveline smiled smugly when Anna turned tail and fled. The spear girl was clearly a really bad adventurer. Love had to give Elyssa props, at least didn't strike her as a coward who'd try to steal someone else's loot.
After Anna ran away, Jamie asked if they should rest a bit or go ahead. "Take a break?" Loveline asked. "Are you kidding? I'm super hyped now! Besides, we've only got one more room to go. We can handle that in a jiffy." She proclaimed confidently.

“We can’t let her get ahead of us! Come on!” Ariana bounced after Anna. “Aw, come on, I want a break…” Cosmina stretched. “No time! We’ve got to get through before Anna does!” Ariana dove for the same hole and immediately began swimming downwards. “Aw… sorry about her. She’s excitable.” Cosmina sighed and followed her. “You’re a lot more excited now.” Ariana noted to Love, smiling. “...I like it. Even if I think it’s because Elyssa’s gone.”
