Intro
The Hidden World is a very complex network of individuals, clans, organization and yes, even Kingdoms. Sooner or later somebody is going to step in other people toes and that can cause a lot of distress. Individual fights aren’t much of a problem, but when groups start getting aggressive things can get out of hand quite easily. Many great disasters that happened in the Mundane World have a Hidden cause. Ancient mythological beasts fighting each other and causing natural catastrophes, secretive organizations battling wars in the shadows of mankind’s cities that slowly slip out into the open and ignite larger more visible conflicts.
After some disastrous events during WWII, a war that not only brought impressive Mundane technological achievements but also saw the first mass weaponization of Hidden World assets. The Mundane World was horrified with the war and took steps to avoid it in the future. The Hidden World did the same. So if any organization large enough had a conflict with another similar sized group an intervention would be set in neutral ground with envoys from both sides. And right now one of those meetings is about to happen.
A large Company, who found success through the gathering and processing of mystical materials to sell into magical organizations across the world, “accidentally” breached the border of the Draiochta Kingdom in Ireland. They were cutting a particular type of tree native to the region that serves as raw materials to create their line of Wizard Staffs and Wands. The Draiochta Kingdom, a known isolationist nation broke their policies and sent one of the Crown Princes to negotiate an agreement with the Company, the Oberman Trading Company. Both parties agreed to meet in the Arata Island, ancestral homeland of a small tribe of magic users who turned their town into a resort for Hidden World Denizens.
The MI:13, the Hidden World Organization monitoring the British Isles hired bodyguards from all around the world for Derek Van Dercycle, the Crown Prince of the Draiochta Empire, as any harm to him could be disastrous to the fragile political equilibrium between the different factions in their area of Influence. And they are correct to fear injuries to Derek, as the Oberman Trading Company is plotting to take out the newly appointed ambassador and resume their exploitation of the forests until a new meeting is organized.
