Name: Haruko Miyata
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Aliases: Knife-chan(Gen)
Alignment: Neutral, leaning towards hero
Race: Human
Height: 4'11''
Appearance
Haruko is a 25 year old girl, but her face and slender body give her the appearance of almost a 16 year old, which her short 4'11'' stature doesn't help much. Her face consists of medium length pink hair and amber colored eyes. She normally wears black loose fitting pants and a purple button-up t-shirt, over which she wears a maroon colored jacket to hold her weapons in.
History
On an early rainy April morning, the Bradford Adoption Center was awoken by yet another crying voice at their front door. Grumbling, the caretaker of the property opens the front door to find a young pink-haired infant in a basket, wrapped in a white blanket. On top of the blanket was a single piece of paper that simply read “Haruko Miyata, six months old to this day.” It wasn't uncommon for children to be dropped off at their doorstop like this, so they took her in, recorded what little information they had about her, and added her to the already massive roster of kids they had.
The next 7.5 years proved to be one of the worst times in her life. The adoption center arranged their infants by who was admitted first, so Haruko was placed at the end of the line, which consequently led to nearly all people to choose someone else before they even got that far in. And once she learned to walk, she was placed with all the other children and given a cot to sleep on, as beds took up too much space. Quickly rejected by her fellow roommates from some unknown source of malice, the next few years led Haruko to give up on the hope of leaving this place and began to isolate herself from everyone. Her favorite spot to go to each day was a tiny space underneath the first floor staircase, where there was only a small window that led to the outside and was hidden well enough from the other children, giving her the privacy needed to teach herself how to read, though it also hid herself away from potential parents. The times she dreaded most were when she had to go to the cafeteria and eat with everyone else, where without fail a group of kids 3 years older than her would harass Haruko about pretty much everything; her appearance, lack of friends, hair color, gender, and plenty more. These repeated insults and most times physical bullying gradually led Haruko into a depression, actually believing that she was everything that was said about her, and further isolated herself from the world; even going days without food to avoid the cafeteria altogether.
Then, on one fateful day when she was 8 years old, an extremely well-dressed couple enters the facility and began to look around. The man wore a simple black suit and had neatly combed hair, but the woman was much more stunning by comparison. She had long hair that went down to her shoulders, and wore a blue dress that in any other circumstance would have belonged to a famous movie star. While not looking to take any of the kids home with them, the woman was directing the man to hand out fliers to any interested female that was 8 years old or older. At the time, Haruko was reading a book in her hiding spot under the stairs, watching the two hand out fliers with a slight sense of curiosity. Just what were two classy people like these doing at a dump like this? As the woman was about to walk past the stairs, out of the corner of her eye she notices the pink-haired girl hiding in the corner, and takes one of the fliers from the male holding the stack. Ducking under the stairs, the woman kneels down next to the nervous Haruko, and smiles as she hands her a flier. “Miranda Adaway. Nice to meet you.” Haruko only looks down at her feet as she accepts the piece of paper, and meekly says “Haruko Miyata.” Miranda chuckles slightly at her response, and moves her head in front of Haruko’s, pointing at the flier. “Well Haruko, if you would like to come join us at Adaway, we would be more than happy to accept you.” As she stood back up to walk away, Miranda looks back and smiles once more. “Give it some thought, alright?” And with that, the two walk off around the corner, leaving Haruko dumbfounded. Why did she talk to her so personally? What was this flier that was given to her? Did someone…actually care for her existence? Looking at the flier, across the top in bold letters read; ‘Adaway Academy’. The flier detailed how it offered training in traditional school subjects, but supplemented it with courses that included but not limited to; singing, cooking, drawing, and needlework. The last one in particular struck Haruko’s interest, as she wanted to look just as stunning as Miranda had. So the very next day, she packed up what little possessions she had, walked out the front door without saying a word, and begged for enough money off the street to take a bus all the way to the state of New York.
While the southern part of the state was home to one of the largest cities in the country, upstate was full of pleasant countryside to admire and not too much traffic to worry about. Haruko stepped off the bus intact, and admired the large building in front of her. She soon found out that Miranda was actually quite wealthy, and had ordered this place to be built as part of her philanthropy, being completely free of charge for those less fortunate. After registering and given a small room in the building next door, Haruko was finally admitted.
What followed were some of the most enjoyable years she had ever had. Everyone there was extremely friendly, and she had found a certain passion when attending the sewing classes. For the first time in her life, she actually had friends! Refusing to waste this opportunity given to her, Haruko spent day and night making sure her grades were at the top of her class and that her sewing technique kept improving. Gradually, she broke out of her depression and became more open each day, until she was the cheerful seamstress people know today by age 10.
The academy serves kids from ages 8 to 14, and provided all needed education up to high school level in the timespan. During her time there, Haruko had noticed a strange trend occurring within her body. Starting around age 8, she had slowly begun to develop abnormal reaction and running speed, flexibility, and random bursts of minor ki control. While the first two she tried to keep secret for fear of being rejected again, in private she began to fuse her ki control and sewing technique to increase her efficiency. Soon, it became as if she had another set of arms working in tandem with her normal ones. As Haruko developed her techniques further, Miranda had become even more curious as to who this girl was and why she was developing skills so quickly, so she called Haruko into her office. Surprisingly, she revealed that she too had special powers, the extent of which she hid from Haruko’s prying eyes. From that day on until she graduated, every Wednesday afternoon the two of them met and developed both Haruko’s sewing abilities and ki control. In addition, Miranda began informing Haruko of the concept of a Hidden World, where people like themselves had supernatural abilities, but most of them chose to keep said powers away from the public eye. It was extremely rare for the headmistress herself to privately teach a student like this, so needless to say Haruko was ecstatic whenever Wednesday rolled around. By the end of her final year, she had become the top seamstress in her class, besting even the wealthy girls that actually paid to come here. Walking off the stage at graduation, everyone was ordered to pack their things and make way for the next group that was moving in. As she was packing her stuff, Miranda makes a surprise visit to her room. “Nice work out there. You’ve changed quite a bit since your meek butt arrived here. I thought I’d stop by and give you a little parting gift.” With that, the headmistress tosses her a small box wrapped in red wrapping paper. Inside of the box was a small knife with a wire attached to the end, and blueprints on how to make both of them under the two items, as well as a phone number. “I used to use these things so much when I was younger, and now I am giving them to you. Protect yourself out there, alright?” Hugging her former student for the first time ever, Miranda was about to walk out of the doorway…until she looks at Haruko one last time and points to the phone number. “Call me when you think you have mastered the technique, I have some things to show you.” And with that, Miranda walks out of the room.
From that day on, Haruko began to train her skills using wires and knives together. Her experience using thread translated perfectly into using wires, so the only hard task was learning how to throw straight and manipulate the knives midair. But she kept at it, and as she grew older and gained experience, the task became easier to accomplish. Once she reached the point where she was confident enough in her abilities, Haruko began to take odd contract jobs to both improve her technique in the real world and in general have fun. The transition from adoption home to Adaway had taught her that sitting around won’t get you anywhere in life, and vowed to never become useless to herself, her friends, employers, or society in general ever again. As for her time spent at the adoption center, Haruko decided to bury those memories deep into her head, not even wanting to consider that time period to even be the same person as herself.
Haruko currently lives in a large 2 story beachfront house in California, USA. The downstairs of her house is primarily where she stores and manages her fabrics and supplies, while the upstairs is reserved for her bedroom and personal items. The backside of the house has a large rectangular pool built into the ground, and a circular hot tub just a few feet away. It’s at this house where she fills orders for her small fabric and tailoring shop, primarily serving individuals that wanted to pay the extra money to get a custom outfit made to their exact specifications. Though unlike traditional shops, customers would have to schedule an appointment with her in advance, since Haruko didn’t exactly like random strangers wandering through her house. But despite her policies, her handiwork has made her shop a highly successful business. It is only out of a sense of enjoyment that she occasionally takes the odd contract mercenary job, as her business makes more than enough money to support herself. When not fulfilling orders or out on an adventure, Haruko likes to spend her time playing the various video game consoles that inhabit her room, her favorite games being Mario Kart, Super Smash Bros, Monster Hunter Tri and Pokémon (though she doesn’t care much for the first two generations, controversially). She is usually tolerant of what other people play, but if anyone even mentions the words Call of Duty in front of her, they will be swiftly ushered out of her house through the window…on the second floor.
Personality
Haruko is an upbeat and cheerful girl, who loves to meet new people. She tries to not to make a ton of enemies, but is quick to retaliate if she or her friends are in danger. Haruko also loves to hug people, but understand boundaries if the other party doesn’t want to be touched. An odd trait she holds is an irrational fear of cats of any kind, from house cats to lions. People speculate that she might have been attacked by one at a very young age, but she has yet to say for sure why she has this fear.
Powers and Abilities
Due to her intense training with Miranda, Haruko was able to push the limits of her body to superhuman levels. She can run at near the speed of sound, but due to her fighting style she decided to neglect strength training. As a consequence, she can only lift around 100 pounds of weight. But what she lacks in strength, she makes up for in her ability to keep up with even the speediest of enemies. Haruko is also extraordinarily flexible, being able to maneuver her body into tight corners that would seemingly too small for a normal human. This flexibility allows her to dodge attacks much more easily, and even maneuver her way through her own razor wire traps on occasion. Her ki control is her most notable ability next to her knivesand wires, but she primarily uses it to levitate light objects and not necessarily for enhancing strength or speed.
-Wire Knives: Haruko has outfitted her body with multiple knives attached to various kinds of wire, in order to create an aerial projectile that she can either control mid-air using the wire, or make razor wire traps.
Standard knife: She throws a single knife at the target. Her knives are made of a special lightweight metal that both makes them light weight, but also sharp enough to piece through a concrete wall.
Standard wire knife: Haruko attaches a durable, nearly invisible wire to her knives, and uses the attached wire to guide the knives mid-air toward her opponents.
Razor wire knife: Similar to the standard wire knife, but this time she attaches nearly invisible razor wire that would slice through concrete if dropped upon it. Due to the nature of the wires, she doesn't use these to guide knives through the air.
Tripwire knife: Similar to the standard wire knife, but this wire is much less durable, and would snap if enough force is inserted up it, triggering the possible trap that she set up.
-Special knives
Example of her knives
Poison: A poison-tipped knife that would slowly cause cardiac arrest if left in the blood stream too long. Ideal for long-range assassinations.
Explosive: Haruko's special knives that hold explosive power that, when put in contact with an object at high speed, will blow up. Haruko can detonate the knives remotely using her ki, as well as put fuses on them that will trigger if one of her tripwires are released.
Rocket: A knife outfitted with a tiny rocket booster. She can use this to make her knives fly faster, and to confuse the enemy if used in conjunction with normal knives. Can be attached to any kind of knife.
-Ki manipulation: Haruko can utilize her ki energy to enhance the abilities of both her knives and her wires. She can infuse her wires with ki to make them extra durable in case an enemy is too close to her and she needs to dodge a sword, or she can infuse it into one of her knives to give her the ability to control it within a fixed radius. She can also levitate light items such as scissors or thread, and use them to either attack from a distance or serve as extra set of arms to speed up her sewing process with pinpoint precision.
Special Techniques
-100 Knife Wheel: Haruko takes out 100 wire knives out of her jacket, and throws them all in a perfect circular pattern, with all of them still attached to her hands via wire. When the knives reach their limit on the wire, she spins her body around to make a large wheel of blades. One of her most effective AOE attacks.
-Hidden Blades: Haruko has attached two daggers to the insides of her sleeves, which she only uses if an enemy is too close to her for her knives to be effective. She is experienced with wielding them, but they are primarily used to block blades up close.
-Corriente: Spider-Web Edition: A team attack created by Crow Cementerio and Haruko during the events of A Night at the Castle. Haruko begins the attack by anchoring one of her wires anchored to a conductive object, and runs around the battlefield trying to cover as much area as possible in said wires. At the end, Haruko ties the other end of the wire to another object, and Crow completes the attack by releasing a large amount of electricity into the spider web to fry all the enemies trapped within it.
Gem Girl Form
After helping the magical girl Kusuri Inoue fighting off forces sent by the Crystal Queen, Haruko has gained the ability to transform into a magical girl idol that uses either a microphone or a headset to project her voice and control her abilities. This form of her's used to only last a few minutes, but she has since trained it to last for much longer than that if she's not heavily using her powers. Some of her powers in this form include;
- Flight: Being able to float along the air like an ice skater, Haruko can float up and down with ease, giving her a moderate speed of flight.
- Spotlights: Projecting a spotlight onto the battlefield, Haruko can create status effects for people or objects that come into contact with them. Such effects can include reduced speed, increased speed, passive healing, and so on.
- Sound wave manipulation: Utilizing her main powers, she can project music out of the walls that will launch attacks in line with the beat. A more upbeat song with have a rapid succession of sound attacks, while a deep bass driven song will have fewer, more powerful strikes. These sound waves can be manipulated into different types of objects, appearing as neon, translucent figures that can have a harder impact.
- Emotion reading and manipulation: One of her less developed skills. With concentration, Haruko can see a small outline on people, the color indicating their current emotional state. Blue means they are sad, red means angry, white is neutral, and so on. She can also influence these emotions depending on the song she is playing, affecting all the people within earshot of her music. Though this doesn't affect most people not within a few meters of the source.
NPCs:
- Name: Kate Miyata
- Age: 16
- Gender: Female
- Powers: Upgrade and Degrade
Adopted by Haruko after she was saved by herself and Arthur Cromwell, Kate is a mysterious girl with the two distinct powers. The one she uses most frequently is what she refers to as "Upgrade and Degrade." Using this power, she is able to change objects at the molecular level to either improve them, or destroy them and turn the object into dust. These powers can only be used on objects she is physically touching with her hands, and require time to fully upgrade or degrade. Currently, changes made to people's magical items, such as horns or keyblades, are only temporary and will wear off if Kate's not there to keep the upgrade going. However, she is able to change people's normal physiology just fine permanently, as to repair broken bones, reattach limbs, or make people more muscular, to name a few examples.
Her other power is one that trapped for years, and that's the ability to make small pocket dimensions that she can manipulate. However, after being rescued from one she got trapped in, she has since been afraid to use these powers since, and thus hasn't touched them.
Kate is a quiet girl, adjusting to life outside of her pocket realm slowly but surely. She is slowly becoming more adventurous though, and likes to impress other HW people by demonstrating her powers to them.

Cosmina Miyata
An odd little girl with horns, Cosmina is a media junkie with a thing for cool hats. Rescued from her insane creator Marika Arachne, she was thrilled when her sister Marceline asked Haruko to take her. To her joy, Haruko adopted her, and she now trains to be a seamstress just like her mom.
Cosmina is a glutton for attention, as well as being a zealous prankster, bordering on cruel. She makes up for her bouts of meanness with a lot of independence and maturity, although not as much as she thinks she has.
Alternate Forms:
Yamiko
- Name: Yamiko
- Gender: Female
- Alignment: Evil
Unexpectedly born after one of Haruko's magical girl transformations went wrong, Yamiko is a complete sadist who takes pleasure in watching people suffer. She carries around two long knives inside of her sleeves, which hide her hands most of the time due to their length. Her appearance is similar to that of magical girl Haruko, though the most notable changes physically include the long, white hair that goes down to her ankles, a short red skirt with a belt hanging off the side, the aforementioned sleeves, and a set of deep crimson eyes.
Unlike magical girl Haruko's more upbeat style, Yamiko instead focuses on screeching, ear-splitting sounds that are not unlike that of a banshee's. If necessary, she also likes to mix things up by playing dark, ominous sounds meant to strike fear into her enemies before she gets her hands on them. Some accounts have even suggested hearing a soft piano in the distance, only to hear it getting louder and faster as time went on, until it was as if someone was playing an entire orchestra right up against their ear. But at that point, it was already too late.
Yamiko is only able to sustain her existence for as long as Haruko has mana. Once the reserves run out, she reverts back to normal Haruko, who would have no idea what had just occurred. It is almost random when Haruko transforms as to if it will turn into her magical girl self, or Yamiko.
