Dan Drake is a former street thug from a small coastal city, feared for his incredible strength. His entire gang, the Dagger Flamingos, marked by their pink clothing, was contracted by a cult to guard them during a ritual. It seemed like an easy job, with even the police unwilling to approach the bulletproof and brutal Cheng Xu. However, Huntsman was. He tore through them like a blender, wounding Dan and turning the rest into a pile of body parts on his way to the ritual. Looking over the carnage, the most horrifying thing he had ever seen, he swore off his old life and fled the country. Six years later, as a cage fighting martial artist, he never learned what it was that killed his gang, but he may soon find out.
Changing his real name, he mostly participates in cage matches along the Pacific coast, never sticking around longer than he needs to to collect his prize money. However, his powers rob him of a lot of the thrill he seeks from battle. These abilities are not only his enhanced stats but his ability to fire off extremely close-ranged bursts of spiritual energy and a strange pheromone ability.
Appearance:
Dan is a tall and muscular Chinese man. His brown hair is permanently tied in a ponytail and while he doesn't always wear his tattered pink gi, he does usually wear something pink. A little antennae of hair not in his ponytail always springs forward over his forehead. Under his gi, he tends to wear a blue undershirt. Another consistent feature is his tendency to go barefoot, as he dislikes shoes. His brown eyes are small but emotive on his tanned face, right above a strong nose.
In avatar state, his canine teeth, hair, and nails grow. His voice has a weak Cantonese Chinese accent that grows stronger when excited and is somewhat soft for his size. At Christmas, he received a baseball cap from the seamstress Hitomi. It's mostly pink but the front section, a triangular bit framing the bill, is white. This front section contains an embroidered pink fist surrounded by dark red flames.
Personality:
Dan has three very distinct states of mind. Normally, he is calm, reserved, and somewhat shy, finding it nigh impossible to start a conversation. He mostly just reads, trains, or plays his saxophone when alone, which is most of the time. In battle, he becomes a very different person. He becomes, loud, brash, and cocky. The thrill of battle fills him, leading to his normal personality being even more pronounced upon leaving it. This is a reemergence of a personality that had started to emerge when he was the top fighter of the Dagger Flamingos, unbeatable by anybody he knew, but than as now, it only lasts as long as his blood's pumping.
Not as different as is apparent is his avatar state. In this form, he seeks only survival and reproduction. His pragmatic side comes to the forefront as his emotions recede. He comes off as antagonistic to men and possessive of women in this form, and even more withdrawn afterwards due to the embarrassment of his actions. However, he retains much of his social clumsiness and acts on many of his normal state's desires. After being trapped in the avatar state for over a year, he refuses to enter it again no matter the stakes. He also struggles with guilt from taking the lives of multiple FMY members in his first adventure in the hidden world. Guilt for these many failures continues to gnaw at him even as he tries to raise a child.
Powers:
Most of Dan's avatar powers were lost when the Primal Roar was removed from his body, leaving him temporarily powerless. However, while raiding the JHWAB's Shirokumo Prison, his fighting spirit was awoken by Goemon Williams. With this, he has become a spirit boxer, with a technique/durability focus. He has yet to properly train these new powers and focus his considerable skill into the art of boxing. The only remnants of his former powers are his abnormally powerful heart and lungs.
Spirit Boxer:
Strength- C
Speed- D
Stamina- B

Guts- C
Stance- Orthodox High Guard
Red Spot- A straight where Dan throws a devastating punch at extremely close range. This punch carries nearly the full power of a regular-distance punch and sometimes even more. Known for precision and breaking blood vessels beneath the skin, although the results are more often purple than red.
Cosmic Returns- Dan already uses his aura to defend against other people's attacks, absorbing much of the force before the blow can land. With this skill, he can keep the energy that his aura absorbs, using it to fuel a tremendous attack.
Meteor Swarm- Instead of unleashing all of his built up power in one blow, Dan concentrates it in a series of punches, making them much stronger than his average blows, but significantly weaker than a full Cosmic Return.
Moonchaser- A fearsome uppercut, made mostly for closing vertical distance. It isn't incredibly powerful, but it can carry Dan significant distances straight into the air. Dan learned this skill to deal with flying enemies, something his master noted posed a significant threat to him.
Support skills:
Shoulder bull- Dan slams the opponent with his shoulder, usually used to push the target where he wants them to be. In a regular fight, he might combine this with a leg behind his opponent's to throw them off balance.
Non-boxing moves:
Head smash- Dan enjoys using his head in combat, particularly enjoying attacking the nose with his forehead at his favored close range.
Flying knee- One of Dan's only regular leg-based attacks. Often used to close distance while landing an attack.
Precision Sledgehammer- An elbow strike aimed at vulnerable places with maximum power placed behind it.
Weakness:
Range- Dan is mid ranged at best. His energy attacks are weakened quickly by distance.
Social train wreck- Shy and reserved normally, arrogant and impulsive in battle and around it. Either way, Dan isn't great at making friends.
Equipment:
Antimagic Pendant- A pendant Dan took off of Huntsman. While it rejects him, it still grants him a portion of its benefits. Dan is made very resistant to direct applications of magic. A magic missile or other attack formed of magic will harm him less than it normally would. However, attacks made possible by magic are not effected by this. Fire produced by magic but not magical in nature will harm him just as much as normal fire.
Armored Uniform- While it resembles a regular pair of jeans and a denim jacket over a pink shirt, his standard adventuring gear is actually extremely resistant to harm and repairs itself over time, allowing Dan to take even greater hits than he usually does.

Relationships:
"What did Arthur do this time?" -Red Lanai
Qiang Drake
A strange little psychic, Qiang is Dan's son with Abijah. While Dan isn't happy about the union, he loves his son and has resolved to raise him better than his father could ever raise him. Qiang is mute, communicating via images imparted on the minds of others. He loves music and anything with interesting images, and although he can't read yet, he loves looking at the pictures in any of Dan's books that have them. A bright, musically inclined child, Dan has his hands full trying to provide for him and raise him right.
Other Relationships:
Bo Xu- Dan's father. After making a deal with a cult for a child who would supposedly surpass him in strength, he was disappointed when the result could not produce fighting spirit, Bo's ideal source of strength. He trained Dan ferociously in his early years, but under unknown circumstances, Dan left as a child. Dan hasn't seen him in 20 years, and certainly won't be happy when he does.
Haruko Miyata- Dan's oldest current friend and unrequited love, Haruko is a knife-wielding seamstress with a brilliant moral compass but no regular compass. With her pink hair and general resemblance to his dead crush back in his old gang, it's no wonder he fell for her. After admitting his crush, however, he's been getting over it and coming to just see her as a good friend. Her daughters Kate and Cosmina often act as babysitters for Qiang.
Arthur Cromwell- Possibly Dan's best friend. A fellow single parent who helped Dan learn how to take care of Qiang. He's better than most at reading Dan, and they share a lot in common. Fun to go bowling with.
Caroline- A relatively new friend. Like Arthur, Dan is more comfortable discussing relationship issues and his hangups with her than Haruko or Alexis. After sleeping with her, Caroline is the go-to adviser on relationships and sex matters.

Alexis Primrose- Dan's favorite sparring partner. Alexis is always up for a fight, and her blunt, straightforward nature balances out Dan's mumbling lack of social skills. With Alexis' ranged magic and Dan's melee skills, they make a terrifying team when they fight together.
Laura Crown- A beautiful demigod and Dan's crush. She's everything he could want, but she doesn't see him the same way. Dan finds it awkward to be around her, partially feeling himself weak for clinging to his feelings with no chance of reciprocation, and knowing he'd bed her again if she asked.

Sid Renen- Sid is an average Inazuma student that Dan met at the same time as Haruko, although Sid is not so charming to Dan. Instead, his lazy nature and irritating stupidity drive Dan up a wall. However, the man can kick, and Dan can respect a fighter.
Gen Shishioh- A spirit boxer who has risen from street punk to hero, Gen has lived in the periphery of Dan's world for years now, often the focus of Dan's adventures but never really interacting with him in person. Even after finally meeting on Atlas Island, Gen has failed to remember Dan.
Yuriko Kazegawa- Rin's best friend, Yuriko is a wealthy young heiress with as much of a punk edge as Gen. While he met her briefly, Dan admired Yuriko's strength, handling the traumatic Gen rescue mission with grace. He might just like her because she's like Gen but probably hasn't forgotten him.
Huntsman- A ravenous shapeshifting abomination, Huntsman is responsible for killing Dan's gang. While he has come to terms with this, Huntsman has not changed from the vile creature he always was.
Hyo-Soon Park- Park is a powerful esper in the employee of the Musashi, a powerful group in Japan. While her sadistic tendencies worry him, her kindness with Qiang won him over and he liked her having his back.
Mai Musashi- Cool as hell, Dan loves to spar with her more than nearly anybody else. Hot and powerful, a wonderful combination for a fight. She's a bit more of a party animal than him, but he likes her in small doses.
Akane Musashi- The first time they met, Akane Musashi tried to kill Dan with a sword. After that shaky start, they managed to patch over their issues. Dan didn't think they were friends, but Akane said she saw him as one, so that's pretty cool.
Ann Parker- Total cutie, but Dan won't try to get with her. He already screwed that up. Still, they work out together sometimes, so they get along well enough.

Halwende Chase and Marceline- Two employees of billionaire Marvel Smith, Dan fought and nearly killed them in Siberia while in the avatar state. While he only met Chase afterwards, he found the meeting very awkward and hopes not to meet Marceline.
