Guide to the ViceVerse World

Welcome to the ViceVerse RPG, in this guide you will find a quick summary of every important concept the in-game world has and how that can affect your character and your decisions as a player. We tried to make a world as inclusive as possible, while also limiting the power levels of the characters to avoid rampant OP characters. We have been in constant activity for more than a full year, and thanks to this world and concepts we haven’t had any large problems.

The main universe in which all of our canon threads happen is called the ViceVerse. It’s a world like ours, meaning its Planet Earth, it’s the year 2015 and there are all the countries you know in their correct places. But there is one big difference, as hidden in the shadows of the world there are beings, creatures and artifacts of supernatural or superhuman origin. All this things that go beyond the realm of what is humanly possible are classified under the same name…

¿What is the “Hidden World”? As I stated earlier is the word used to refer to anything out the boundaries of humanity, that being Supernatural beings, like elves, oni and other mythical creatures, Superhumans some through genetics or science, others through magic or Ki, Outsiders, beings from beyond the stars or the dimensional boundaries and finally Prodigies, with technology beyond what we know off.

Of course this aren’t the only classifications that exist, just an example of what kind of things you can find classified as such. The Hidden World is called like this because it’s well… hidden. As stated before all these fantastical things and creature remain hidden from the rest of the world. Many do it out of fear of being discovered, others are smart enough to know that revealing themselves would only end up badly, unluckily there is also groups that either don’t know or don’t care.

Some normal humans are aware of the Hidden World, but keep their knowledge a secret form the general public to preserve the Hidden World. These people are referred to as being HW Aware.

To keep any supernatural situations from slipping to the general public there are many Hidden World Organizations. Some are country-based; others are independent and have different goals but most of them if not all share the same desire, to keep the Mundane and Hidden Worlds apart, for the sake of both of them. Thanks to their efforts the thin layer of misdirection and deceit separates the Mundane and Hidden Worlds.

General

* Hidden World: Anything supernatural or superhuman in Planet Earth

* Hidden World Denizen: Any intelligent being that can be classified as part of the HW.

* Aquelarre: Large gathering of Hidden World beings usually called by a minor deity or magical artifact.

Organizations & Groups

* JHWAB: Japan’s Hidden World Organization. (Japanese Hidden World Affairs Bureau)
 - Omega Squad: The 5 strongest field Agents of the JHWAB

* MI13: Great Britain’s Hidden World Organization. (Military Intelligence Section 13)

* HWIC: Private Hidden World Organization. (Hidden World Intelligence and Containment)

* BHA: Bounty Hunters Association, a private organization with many members that do works for the HW Organizations or collect bounties on dangerous criminals. They have several branches all over the world

* DMO: Brazil’s Hidden World Organization (Departamento Mundo Oculto)

* Inazuma Gakuen: A private warfare academy in Japan, it only allows entry to Hidden World Denizens and trains them in combat and strategy.

* Gateway Academy: A Magical School located in Canada, it holds several dozens of users of the arcane arts as students.

* The Wild Hunt: Private business that hunts and exterminates Hidden World Creatures.

* Seamstress: Magical Seamstress capable of performing superhuman feats with needle and thread, some of them can access the Kaspa. 

* Gunslingers: Order of Gun-totting heroes, unluckily most of them died in a tragic incident. 

* Spirit Boxing Federation: Especialized Ki-users that center their fighting prowess on boxing techniques.

* Gem Girls: A group of young female heroes banded together by the power of the Magic Gems to defeat evil.

* Mahou Seki Senshi: Knights who use Mahoseki Magic to defend the Mahoseki Kingdom and Queen

* Musashi Clan: The Descendants of the legendary Master Swordsman formed their own city-state hidden from mundane eyes, tasked with hunting demons and beasts that attack their homeland.

Locations

* Gainen Space: Extra-dimensional space where the Gainen were created, the dimension serves as the recollector of Humanity's collective imagination.

* Kaspa: Pocket Dimension created by magical seamstresses.

* Sakurajima Island: Home to Reiji Fukuma, a great Martial Arts Master and the only known Natural Gateway to the Gainen Space. Currently under JHWAB jurisdiction.

* Shirokumo: One of the most secure prisons under JHWAB jurisdiction.

* JHWAB KANTO HQ: Hidden miles below the surface a enormous complex that used to be the lair of a corrupted Dragon. 

* Arata: Hidden World Resort in the South Pacific.

* Kingdom of Draiochta: Mystical Realm hidden in the British Islands.

* Universe 33: Inazuma City, the Capital of Shin Nihon.

Energy Types

* Ki: The energy martial artists use to perform superhuman feats; it tends to come from intense physical and spiritual training. There are many variants like, for example, Fighting Spirit.

* Magic: The energy used by mages, wizards and other supernatural spell casters; there are many ways to channel it.

* Natural Energy: The energy that nature has, it can be channeled by elementalists, shamans or any kind of being to launch powerful elemental based attacks

* Divine Energy: The energy of deities whose followers can summon and channel as if they were using Magic or other Hidden Powers.

Sub-races, Creatures and Monsters

* Gainen: Extra-dimensional creatures that were created by humanity collective imaginations. They represent concepts such as Battle, Hatred, Peace, Memory and more.

* Sacred Beasts: The 4 Cardinal Protectors of China, Suzaku, Byakko, Genbu and Seiryu, their domains are hidden in the Chinese Mainland and tend to attract other Hidden World Creatures. They are extremely powerful and territorial.

* Dolls: Artificial Human Beings created by Marika Arachne by sewing body parts, some are sentient are others are just puppets.

* FMY: Abreviation for Full Metal Yakuza, creations of the sinister Dr. Kago. They are Cyborgs with advanced battle capabilities.

* Shindo: Humans with incredible talents that get their inhuman skill from a natural connection to the Gainen Space, thus they can channel a Concept into the human world.

* Myth Soldiers: Genetical Experiments from WWII who lived isolated from the world in an Underground Lab recently destroyed, they currently reside in Shinwa-Mura. Most of the are Half Human and Half Mythical Beast.

* Demon God: Eldritch beings that attempt to enter other universes for various unknowable goals.

* Avatar: Vessel to allow a Demon God's entry into the normal world.

* Gainen Medals: Created in the 70’s, these artifacts hold a Gainen trapped inside and allow the users to tap into their powers to fight their kin.
