Explain? Oh boy, that would be a nightmare of its own. “Later!” Dan yelled as he blocked a crushing blow. He was thrown past Leone to crash into the wall of bodies. He felt his stomach churn as he pushed himself off of Haruko. Blood dripped from his fingers and back as he rose and bile rose with him, scouring his throat. It was lucky for him that Leone was there, and very unlucky for the copy. The fireballs disintegrated the monster’s face, leaving a warped skull with staring, frenzied eyeballs. “You… should not be here!” He roared at Leone, lower jaw splitting down the middle to form mandibles he tried to plunge into her neck. “Well I’m glad she is!” Dan slammed his shoulder into the monster’s midsection and shoved him backwards. “I can’t slay you, can I? That’s just not how it works! But she can, cause you’re not her demon!” Dan howled when the beast dug claws into his shoulders and threw him aside. “She will do nothing to me with a broken body!” The false avatar exploded forth, whipping out a fist straight for her liver.
A series of yelps and squeals went came from the darkness when the knives went flying, and more followed when whatever surrounded her began to run into the wires. When the explosives went off, Haruko finally got a view of what tormented her. Their faces she would remember from her childhood, as twisted as they were. They were her childhood bullies, warped into things small and scurrying and multiplied into the dozens. A swarm jumped at her from behind, trying to knock her to the ground. “Let me remove that ugly hair.” One snarled, swinging at her scalp with a pocket knife.

A look of annoyance spread across Leone’s face as she saw Dan get thrown across the room, knowing she would have to ask about all this later. She prepared to dodge out of the way of their opponent’s attack...but Dan stepped in and slammed his shoulder into the monster’s midsection. Dan’s reasoning made Leone smirk with confidence.
“I don’t have a clue what you are talking about Dan, but it sounds like you’re asking me to put this creature down. I can do that.” Popping open her shotgun once more, Leone loaded a large blue cartridge into it and locked it into place. The bounty hunter tried to dive out of the way of the lash...but it managed to catch her leg and sent her sailing across the floor. Luckily, her clothing was made out of non-newtonian fabric that absorbed much of the impact, but it still left a bruise underneath. Several swears in French could be heard before she stood back up and aimed the shotgun.
“Let us try this again...stand back, Drake!” Pulling the trigger, an icy blue wave erupted from the barrel and sent a blast of cold directly at the monster. She aimed to freeze it solid so Dan could break it apart with his strength.
---
Haruko’s eyes widened with shock when the twisted figures of her childhood began to emerge from the void around her, accompanied by the horrific screams befitting a representation of Hell itself.
“How...after all these years…?!” None of this made sense! They should have grown along with herself! Visions of the home she lived in since birth...the Bradford Adoption Center where she was at the lowest point in her life. The Haruko that she’s tried to bury for all these years. A look of fear was clear in Haruko’s eyes as she tossed 3 more explosive knives at the approaching figures.
“Stay away from me! None of you are in my life now!” She yelled at them. Haruko had buried this version of herself after that fateful day...when she was invited to attend the Adaway Academy by none other than the founder herself, Miranda Adaway. So why were these apparitions here now?!
Reaching into her coat, Haruko tossed 5 explosive knives toward the closest apparitions to herself. If they truly weren’t real, she should have no problem blowing them up!

The monster screamed in rage when Leone’s shotgun left a layer of frost across his torso, leaving him tilting off-balance with his arms stuck in one position. Dan came roaring again and with one punch, shattered the mutated beast’s body. It fell in pieces with a roar like a collapsing ice shelf. Its legs wobbled for a second before Dan kicked them over. “That was a phantom, some amalgamation of every vile thing within me! It combined my father, Huntsman, and the worst of my own self into one body! I don’t think I could have done anything to it on my own!” Dan became a motormouth as he swiftly explained the creature who lay shattered before them, simultaneously wrapping his pierced arm with the bandages he used to wrap his fists.
“Haruko must be facing her own version of this! We need to help her!” Dan prepared to climb the grim wall of corpses when a rattling laugh played out behind him. “Leave her to her fate, Dan… embrace what you are… a selfish monster.” Wiggling tendrils, like a thousand purple and orange worms, grew from every shattered piece of the monster and pieced it back together. It rose, a wobbling patchwork, writhing connective tissue showing between the cracks. A swarm of tendrils shot right from the center of the creature’s torso, trying to wrap around Leone’s arms and rip them clean off.
Haruko’s explosive knives were effective, on the surface. Body parts went flying and the crowd of twisted children drew back. But it was only a feint. The memories blown apart by the explosions rolled their parts together and lunged at Haruko, their own little knives swinging. Another few jumped from behind, swinging undersized bricks and rocks in their tiny fists. “Get away from her!” There was a flash of green and some of the wretched things became dust. Before Haruko stood Abijah, club raised. It fell swiftly and efficiently onto the skulls of any demonic bully who got in her way as she walked to Haruko. It paused only a second when she reached Haruko, then fell again.

"...come again?" Leone asked with surprise when Dan blurted out what this creature was. Some amalgamation of all the evil feelings in Dan? What did that even mean? "Ok...slow down. You can explain everything after we've gotten out of this mess." She said with a more commanding voice than normal. If she was here with Dan...where was Huntsman and Haruko? The strange beast writhing back to life made the French seamstress groan with annoyance. "Why won't you just stay dead...? It would be easier for the both of us, oui?" With a small smile, Leone dove to the side to avoid the approaching tendrils, combat rolling across the floor and aiming her shotgun at it once more, this time even closer.
"Let's see how resilient you really are!" And with that, Leone unleashed 4 blasts from her shotgun, the remaining 5 that were still in the chambers. The sheer amount of cold would be enough to freeze a human in a block of ice. Regardless if they hit or not, Leone held her hand up to Dan. "Don't break him again! This might end things for a while!" She said to the fighter.
---
Haruko's eyes were wide with shock when the strange apparitions morphed into a new entity despite her attacks. A small pang of relief swept across her body when she realized these weren't actually children...but some kind of monster that could manipulate the mind. Didn't that vile drink stop these kinds of visions?! Enough was enough!
Clutching the pink gem on her chest, Haruko's body began to change.
The stone began to shine a brilliant pink, quickly engulfing her entire body. Her body stretched to around 6 feet tall, limbs elongating with a sparkling pink aura. A sleeveless black dress formed around her body, the bottom patterned with dark pink lace. A pair of long white gloves appeared on her arms, extending past her elbows, the gloves lined with small pink and gold gemstones that sparkled in the light coming from above. A pair of long white boots materialized on her feet, reaching past her knees and sporting pink laces along the front, the white color seeming to shine despite the low amount of light. Finally, Haruko's hair grew down to her lower back just as a simple black headset materialized on her head. The light around her body finally disappeared to reveal her gem girl form; Opal Song.
Haruko shot upward to avoid the onslaught, hovering in the air and trying to make sense of the situation below. Her attention was then grabbed when she heard a familiar voice yell out and start bashing away at the figures before her. Haruko was thankful that she had flew out of the way...for Abijah was now upon the spot where she was.
"What are you doing here?!" Haruko yell down, waving her hands and summoning a circle of neon pink spears pointed directly at Abijah. "Call off your minions, and I won't attack you." She warned.

Dan hissed through his teeth. “Damn. It seems like I can’t do anything here. Not directly anyway.” He stomped on the outstretched tendrils, preventing them from attempting to wrap around Leone from behind. “No change from the usual, then.” The phantom spoke with Huntsman’s tones. “Cute.” Dan grit his teeth when Leone closed in. More tendrils shot out to meet her, but before they could reach her limbs, she fired. Tendrils became lightly frosted, then more and more covered in ice with each shot. By the final shot, the beast could barely be seen under the layers of frozen water. “You’re probably right. We should see about getting out.” Dan put a hand on the gruesome wall they had to climb. It was softer than before and seemed to be growing softer by the second. Dan yanked his hand away and some of Haruko’s flesh came with it like putty. The entire wall melted in one horrid mass of flesh, becoming a puddle on the floor. Within seconds, even the puddle drained away. “I think that means we won.” Dan didn’t sound certain, staring at his gloppy hand.
Perhaps not far and perhaps a thousand miles away, Abijah made her own transformation. “They aren’t my minions. I would never hurt my friends like that! This is the realm of subconscious, where every dark, miserable thing you have buried comes to the surface. Even my own people are not safe here. Which is why I have come for you, Haruko.” Abijah hovered just inches off the ground. “It’s nothing personal, really. But Harold needs a practice subject before his main task today.” Two more Abijahs appeared, flying out to the sides in an attempt to flank Haruko, swinging their clubs at her ribs.

A smile spread across Leone's face when the creature finally succumbed to her repeated freezing shots. "Not a moment too soon...looks like I was out of ammo." She casually stated, glancing around at all the spent cartridges littering the floor around her. She confidently opened the chamber and loaded 6 strange yellow cartridges into it, then closed it again. "What, you don't feel like staying in the House of Horrors longer? Maybe it'll drag out more memories out of you. Hope you're not afraid of...spiders." She said ominously, smirking. Lots of people were afraid of spiders, so it was a pretty safe assumption for her joke.
The melting wall of Harukos made Leone cock her head slightly. "Hm...I suppose it does. I say we go..." The battle seamstress looked around. Darkness everywhere...wonderful. "This way!" She chirped, beginning to walk toward the darkness.
---
"...friend?!" Haruko asked with shock. Since when did Abijah consider her a friend?! She ruined Dan's life and tried to bring out that demon god! "We are NOT friends!" She yelled at the woman. When Abijah said her ominous intentions, Haruko tried to move to the side to avoid the blows, but one of the attackers managed to clip her side and send her sailing back toward the ground. A look of rage was plastered across Haruko's face as she looked back up.
"Practice...? I would ask...but I don't want to hear your crap!" Haruko yelled, swearing uncharacteristically for her normally casual and tempered manner. The gem girl held out her right hand and summoned 2 neon pink walls of spiked positioned horizontally above Abijah, Haruko releasing her hand and sending them splitting in half, attempting to crush Abijah between the two walls of spikes. In her rage...she had forgotten there were 3 Abijah, and that killing the one she'd been talking to wouldn't make the other 2 disappear.

“Spiders aren’t what I’m worried about.” Dan gazed at the frozen statue of everything wrong with himself. It was a stark image to be confronted with. Only Leone’s chipper attitude pulled him away. “How do you do that? How do you keep so cheerful down here? Does nothing get to you?” As they walked, the darkness began to swim with colors, purple and orange like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich floating aimlessly around Dan and Leone.
“No, Haruko, you are not one of my friends. I would not do this to you if you were.” Abijah shot straight into the air, letting the walls slam together beneath her. The other two Abijahs flanked Haruko, flying in and swinging their clubs. Both weapons would meet Haruko’s spine at the same time. If struck, she would be thrown forward for the first Abijah to spike her into the ground with her own weapon.

The question made Leone give him a reassuring smile, the battle seamstress walking with her hands in her pockets. "How do I stay so cheerful? Hm...probably because I am good at disassociating myself with stressful situations. Things just feel a little less...real for me, I guess?" Leone said, trying to explain the feeling. "I've always been like this. Even way back in school, I saw Haruko all depressed and decided to yank her out of it! Drug her to club meetings, trips outside...it felt nice seeing her slowly turn into this person today, non?" Leone rhetorically asked. "My life has been a little too normal...so I sometimes find myself taking up challenges like that. Nowadays I just go out and capture Hidden World shoplifters or something." She said with a smile.
The landscape slowly shifted around her, Leone raising her shotgun loaded with fresh ammo in preparation for anything ahead.
---
What was this woman even saying?! First she calls her a friend, now retracts that statement?! The mental tax that this room had on her, combined with Abijah's confusing words made Haruko wildly summon a ring of knives around herself that would spray in nearly all directions around her, but Haruko still found herself hit by the clubs and spiked hard into the ground. Pain radiated through Haruko's body as she stared up at Abijah.
"...you...picked the WRONG time to mess with me!" She roared. A maniacal voice inside her head cackled at the rage, small bolts of red energy radiating out along with the pink ones. "GET OUT OF MY WAY!" For a brief moment, Haruko's hair seemed to flash white, eyes flashing a dark red as she used as much mana as she could muster and created a swarm of knives in a dome around her. "I will destroy you...these illusions...everything!" Haruko yelled in a strangely deeper tone than normal. With a wave of her hands, Haruko sent the knife dome expanding outward, aiming to shred anything in the vicinity. Everything just seemed like a shade of red at this point in her eyes...what was happening?

“I wish I could do that. It would make life a lot easier.” Dan sighed. “I’m with you on normal life being too boring. I have a phone alert for HW emergencies. I don’t respond to many cause who has the time, but they can give me some incredible adventures.” Their surroundings began to solidify, or at least stop moving. The purple and orange splotches were now still in the darkness, even if they were no more distinct. Dan huffed and raised his hand, forming a ball of pink energy. With its light, the true nature of this location became clear.
They stood now in a cave, purple and orange splotches some sort of mold or moss on the walls. “Don’t worry about the eyes. Just don’t look at them.” Dan winced when the very next second, eyeballs of all colors opened up on the mats of “moss”. Looking at them left a sickening taste in the mouth, some unholy combination of blueberries and mustard. He recognized this. It was like the depths of the cave Abijah made back in Siberia, the caves his harem had come to dwell within. But now there was none of his power here at all. It all belonged to the Worm. They kept going down a slope until they came to an abrupt cliff.
There was another side to it, but it was far outside of jumping range, a football field away. Little ribbons of light danced in the gap, flashing colors they human mind couldn’t comprehend. “Great. Well, we got through one layer of defenses, so we should be going in the right direction. How do we get past this? Try to think like a total loon, that’s what we’re dealing with here.” Dan grumbled, hanging out on the very edge. Something rumbled far behind them. “...looks like we have a time limit too.” He clenched his fists and turned.
One of the Abijahs took a knife in the gut. It spat sparks until she yanked it out, holding her stomach tight. When Haruko formed her dome of knives, this was the one to fly in front of the original Abijah. Knives rent the bully creatures surrounding Haruko and impaled the foremost Abijah in a dozen places. She collapsed into her own arms and slowly faded away. “Red eyes… Yamiko, if you can hear me… do not lend her your power! Make her lose!” The original Abijah, shielded by her clone, flew out and tried to smash Haruko’s shoulder with her club. The other remaining Abijah had flown upwards to dodge and now came down a second later to attempt slamming her club into the back of Haruko’s head. “Trust me Yamiko! We are on your side!”

"Oh, we must use the same alert!" Leone said with excitement, motioning to pull out her phone but stopping when she realized he already knew what the system looked like. "But yes, it adds a little spice to life, no?" She asked. The area finally began to solidify...the eyes beginning to form. "You sound like you have experience with this...place." She said with suspicion. Leone then remembred how Dan himself had an Avatar...did they have this in all their lairs?
Looking straight ahead, Leone and Dan came upon the cliff. The strange ribbons of light were difficult to even comprehend...but they seemed to be something. "Just a second..." Leone said, loading a grey shell into her shotgun and aiming it at the pit. She fired what seemed to be 1000 tiny metallic pellets at the pit, aiming to try hitting several of the bands. Perhaps this pit was just an illusion too? "Let's see if these puppies hit anything..." Leone said, watching for any of them to make contact, or if they'll all just fall harmlessly into the pit below.
---
The sheer amount of anger was making Haruko disassociate with reality...the evil alter ego now able to easily take over, turning Haruko's hair silver and her outfit into Yamiko's. The long skirt became a short red and black pleated one with a grey belt, and her shirt became jet black with red along the outsides of her sleeves. Yamiko's red eyes watched as Abijah leaped at her...only to find a cloud of fog where Yamiko once stood. Her voice echoed ominously through the area.
"Oooooooh? You want me to make the worthless host lose? While I'd LOVE to allow that..." Yamiko put extra bile into the end of the sentence. "...if she dies, so do I. So how about..." Suddenly, Abijah would feel a sharp pain on her right arm, Yamiko having slashed a light gash along the length of it. "...you take your mobile orgy and go fuck yourselves somewhere else, hm?" Yamiko cackled, Abijah briefly feeling her cold hands wrap around her neck...before disappearing once more.

“Not this place in particular, but one like it. Abijah has some way of making the realm of her own god leak into reality. It’s even worse here than it was when she was with me.” Dan was keeping his attention back towards the tunnel, where his hideous doppelganger was beginning to make itself shown. “You seek to run away again, Dan! Your pain will never end if you do so! Come, face your past, present, and future!” It snarled as it rounded the corner, falling even more into different pieces, tendrils and hooks barely holding it together. Leone’s test worked, her bullets bouncing off of some unseen surface.
“There’s something there!? Let’s go then!” He charged blindly onto the invisible bridge, rushing ahead. The phantom shuffled slowly behind before hesitating on the edge. It wavered before putting a foot down and beginning to cross. “You are lucky to have a companion who knows what she’s doing. If not for her you would forever hesitate on this cliff, unable to believe there is a bridge.” Dan set foot on the other side and smiled when he realized the secret.
“Bridge? There isn’t one.” He squeezed his eyes shut and concentrated hard on one thought. The solid surface turned to air beneath the phantom’s feet. It screamed in rage as it dropped away into the darkness below. “A bridge that only exists when believed in. That’s practically childish.” Dan breathed a sigh of relief. If either of them had tried to cross without their physical evidence that the bridge was there, they might have passed right through it.
Abijah’s arm threw off sparks where she was cut. “Argh! I won’t kill her, Yamiko! Trust me, won’t you?” She grabbed her injured arm, blood dripping through her fingers. The two Abijahs stood in the fog and waited for her to reappear. As soon as she did, one would lunge to grab her arms and the other would seek the drive the air from her lungs with a punch to the solar plexus. “I see you are unwilling to listen to reason, so I will have to show you by force what I want!” Abijah huffed with the strike.

Dan's explanation only served to make things even more confusing to Leone, but she wasn't about to press him for more answers. A wide smile spread across her face when she saw her pellets ricocheting off some unseen surface. "That's all the evidence I need!" She called out, leaping off the cliff and landing on the surface. Despite knowing there was something there...it was nice to know that it could also hold her weight. The battle seamstress sprinted across the chasm and looked back at the strange creature talking to Dan.
"Gonna be honest, I didn't know what I was doing! Luckily stuff just works out sometimes, right?" Leone said, shooting Dan a confident smirk. "Nice move, by the way! Making it drop like that. I must say...wasn't expecting someone to pull an Indiana Jones on us." Leone remarked. Shrugging, she began to wander off toward the next area. "You know way too much about creepy eldritch gods, by the way." She said half-jokingly. First hand experience was always a plus, she figured.
---
"Ooooo...sparks!" Yamiko said with excitement. This lady must have some kind of super durable skin, or perhaps metal beneath! Yamiko practically allowed herself to be grabbed out of the fog and was punched in the solar plexus, letting out a gasp of air. Strangely though...the idol let out a sadistic chuckle. "Heh heh heh...now you're speaking my language. I too show people what I want by...unusual means." With a broad smile, Yamiko brought her right leg up and aimed to drive it directly between the Abijah holding her arms's legs. The foot had a large, deep red spike jutting out from the bottom, extending outward with Yamiko's leg to try and spear directly through Abijah's body vertically.
When she put her foot back down, Yamiko unsummoned the spike and grinned at the remaining Abijah. "Sorry, did I not use enough lube when I fucked you there? Here, let me try something else." Yamiko grinned and stepped forward, turning her lower body into fog so it would be an easy escape should Abijah fight back. The top half of Yamiko grabbed the front of Abijah's dress and attempted to pull them closer. "So what's your plan, hm? You want to hurt pinkie, but not kill her? And how does me letting you hurt her help me? Hmmmmm?!" Yamiko demanded, red eyes piercing at Abijah's.

“It’s not by choice.” Dan sighed. “I just want to go on adventures with things I can punch, but I’m saddled with a demon god. It draws a lot of weirdos.” He led the way deeper into these odd caves, avoiding the little light-ribbons that danced in the hallway. The deeper they got, the more a high-pitched whine began grow, not in their ears but directly in their brains. “Ah, crap… be ready. These guys aren’t that tough, but there might be a lot of them.” Dan spoke just in time for them to enter what seemed like a normal lounge room. The colors were all vibrant greens and purples, decorating the walls, floors, and comfortable bean bags.
Lounging on the bean bags and against the walls were people in loose black robes, talking among one another. Their gazes all snapped to Dan and Leone as they entered and their hands went groping for the masks on the floors and walls before they even moved to pick up their weapons. The masks were silver and horrid, long tongues dripping from gaping mouths, bulging eyes like rotten fruit. Two came at Leone, spinning flails overhead. Looking at them would give her a dizzying sense of vertigo, enough to send her reeling as they attacked.
The impaled Abijah vanished in a fountain of sparks. The remaining one allowed herself to be grabbed, snarling right in Yamiko’s face. “Let me tell you, then. I want to free you, Yamiko. You are an unfettered soul chained to a body that only limits you. Thought and action are one and the same in you, and it is beautiful. You are a work of art that the world deserves to see.” She made no move to free herself, just staring into Yamiko’s eyes as she waited for a response.

The strange high-pitched whine made Leone try to cover her ears, but soon found it was going directly into their brains somehow. "Electromagnetic field maybe...? Certainly isn't just a sound wave." Leone observed. When they entered the lounge, she wanted to stroll in and make a joke about 'crashing a party', but they put their masks on too quickly and attacked them. "You know, you guys lack all formality." She complained. Glancing at the masks though...Leone began to feel ill, and proceeded to look directly at the ground to anchor herself.
"Whoa...that's new." Leone remarked. Considering there wasn't many paths toward her, Leone loaded her shotgun with a highly concussive shell and fired directly in front of herself. The shockwave produced wouldn't produce much outward damage, but would rattle their insides greatly, hopefully knocking them out with the force applied to their brains.
---
"...ooooooh?" Yamiko asked with interest. "So you are a fan, huh? And just what do YOU gain from releasing me, hm? I saw the fucked up shit you did to gorilla boy back there, and I have no interest in being another one of his fuck buddies. So how about you explain your plan while I still feel like listening." Yamiko warned. The prospect of becoming free was fantastic...but with these crazy people, she didn't know if there was a 'and now you are our slave for eternity' clause, or something else that would be far worse than staying with this useless seamstress.

“It’s a mental attack!” Dan informed Leone as their enemies approached. He dove into combat, becoming a whirlwind of fists twisting through the crowd. The two rushing Leone both went down with concussions when she pulled the trigger, another peeking from behind an overturned table to fire a crossbow at her. Another slipped around to strike at her back with a mace, but Dan threw one of his friends into him with a casual toss. “Watch your back in here!” Dan warned, smashing a cultist’s mask with his elbow.
“Gain? Nothing tangible. We don’t expect you to be an ally, or indebted to us. That is the beauty of you after all.” Abijah smiled, taking Yamiko’s hands in hers. “We simply want more minds like yours out in the world. How about it?”

"Yes, I can tell!" Leone shot back at Dan, briefly glancing at the person across the room and firing another concussive round to knock the arrow off course. The one with the mace took her more off guard, Leone only managing to leap out of the way at the last second, glanced by the blow and rolling to the side. "...oooow." The battle seamstress mumbled, standing back up and drawing a pistol from her side.
"You...especially ticked me off." She coldly stated, firing 3 shots directly at his torso. The bullets were slower in speed speed, but made to get lodged in someone's system and unleash a toxin that would put them to sleep. She turned and fired more at anyone Dan wasn't currently dealing with.
---
This proposition made Yamiko's eyes squint at the woman before her. "And you seriously think I am stupid enough to know how society works? Nobody does shit for free! But..." A wide, slasher smile spread across her face. "...I'm willing to bite. Just know this..." Yamiko leaned forward, lightly brushing the back of her knife against Abijah's neck.
"If I even think you're trying to cross me...I will cut off both your legs and shove them down your throat. Hopefully I won't have to, hehe!" She gave a light giggle at the last word, stepping out of the fog and walking backwards a few steps. "So what's the process, lady? Going to put me in a circle while drones chant nonsense until a tentacle monster shows up?"

“Sorry, I felt it was worth saying!” Dan shoulder-checked a cultist across the room and whirled to lift one off his feet with an uppercut. Meanwhile, Leone’s bullets toppled the mace-wielder with ease, leaving her free to unleash a cavalcade of shots on the vast remainder of people who remained upright in the room. Between Dan and Leone, the room was clear in seconds. Dan wiped the blood from his knuckles and sighed. “These guys were never much. I guess they expected the traps to deal with any intruders, so they weren’t ready for us here.” He scratched his ear. It was weird. That buzzing hadn’t gone away. It was supposed to fade when they were all knocked out. A thin, pale arm was reaching down at him from the ceiling.
Abijah shuddered at the touch of the knife. “I promise you that our intentions are just. Always.” She gripped Yamiko’s hand tighter and swimming colors appeared in the dark. Soon they solidified into an impossible location. They were on a cliff, gazing out over an ocean the color of grape juice and consistency of blood. The waves rolled and crashed, flicking little purple flecks onto Abijah’s clothing. She led Yamiko on, close to the edge where a twisted tree waited. It had no leaves and blue bark, the tips of its branches twitching like fingers. There was a bed at its base, and there stood a young man with oversized headphones.

A small wave of relief went through Leone when seemingly the last cultist was knocked out. "Well, that does say one thing, doesn't it? The earlier guys haven't sounded the alarm to the others. Who knows, we could still pull off a stealth operation ye..." Leone's eyes fixed upon the ceiling as the thin, pale arm began to descend. "Dan, move!" She yelled at the martial artist, aiming her pistol for the arm and firing directly at its wrist. What was this thing?!
---
The change of scenery was bizarre to experience, Yamiko strolling confidently across the ground toward the man at the far end. "Ooooo...spooky. You sure do love your fucked-up hangout spots. Let me guess; we're inside of a giant's stomach? I'm right, aren't I?" Yamiko asked with a toothy smile plastered across her face. Her eyes squinted at the man on the bed. "So what's his deal? You fucks into kidnapping geeks from Hot Topic or some shit? Or is this just his way of asking me out?" She asked, placing her hands on her hips and waiting to see what these two did.

Leone’s bullet tore through the creature’s wrist like it wasn’t even there, revealing a little circle of spongy flesh. The arm didn’t even slow, but Dan was able to duck away with the warning shout. He looked up and saw something incomprehensible. The arm, six-fingered as he noticed now, was attached to a body was was little more than a pulpy, bloated brain in structure, the greasy grey of a bad hamburger. Brilliantly blue eyes stared from all over its surface, clouded over with a layer of grime.
Three more arms gripped the ceiling, fingers sticking like a gecko’s. “...okay, I have no idea what that is.” Dan gulped, backing up rapidly. The brain-thing pulsed and streaks of light shot from its mushy skin. “Nnnnnnavatar…” A voice buzzed in their minds. “You must stay with me… nnnnntil the mistress is finished!” The waving lights dove for Dan and Leone. If they touched them, they would find themselves assaulted with flashes of false memories, things that never happened to them.

Looking up at the creature above them, Leone had to choke down the urge to vomit right there in disgust. "What...is that thing?!" She muttered. When the creature began to speak directly into their minds, Leone took out her shotgun once more and loaded it with several incendiary rounds. "I don't know who your 'mistress' is, but I don't think whatever she's doing is very...wholesome." She stated, aiming her shotgun at the airborne creature...only to be hit by a streak of light. Leone immediately reeled back and clutched her forehead.
Several French swears could be heard as Leone 'remembered' several random events...how she 'crashed' her motorcycle on the highway years ago and died in a fiery wreck, only for the image to shift to her in the middle of the ocean, barely able to keep her head above water as the huge waves crashed around herself. The images only stopped when Leone stumbled out of the light's rays.
"...don't let that light touch you." Leone hissed, pointing her shotgun at the creature and unloading 4 huge fireballs directly at the beast.
