"Of course. I did not intend to leave you behind." The monster reached down to pick Soon off the ground. Dan was disturbed by the feeling of the hand he held. Or rather, the lack of such. It was like solid air. There was no texture to it. "Brace yourselves, would you? I have been told the experience is unpleasant for others." Before either Soon or Dan could ask what experience he was talking about, they were pulled into darkness.
Dan's senses picked up nothing. There was no sight or sound, but more than that, there was nothing to touch. The ground was gone, but he didn't fall. No wind blew, no clothes on his skin, and twisting his heart with panic, no Qiang. He flailed for his son and screamed, but no sound came out. He screamed louder when he started moving. There was no subtle acceleration. One instant, he was still, the next he was moving at mind-bending speeds. His body folded and stretched into a horrible living blur and he screamed and screamed and could hear nothing. Suddenly he stopped and he had boxers and Qiang again. He fell to one knee, sweating and panting like he had run a marathon and hugging Qiang like he was going to fly away.
"Oh dear, you did not take that well at all. I apologize vehemently." The shadow creature helped him to his feet and set Soon down. "We have a shower, some medical capabilities, and many spare clothes." He offered as Dan glanced around. They were in a cramped room, crowded with computer banks and uniformed officers. Some of them were snickering at the state of the newcomers, but when two of the monster's four eyes looked back at them, it was all seriousness. The creature's four arms sorted through a box of clothing. "It would save water if you would clean off together, but I understand that is not a custom in this part of the world. Who wishes to go first?" The shadow monster asked, leaving Dan blushing again. "I'm not leaving Qiang." He managed to turn away and turn away to find a spot to set Qiang down.
"Very well. The bathroom is through that door." The shadow gestured towards a door on the side. Soon would hopefully find clothes that fit her in the offered box on her way to the bathroom. The room itself was even more cramped than the room before, with barely enough room to stand in the shower. If Soon used it, she'd find it to not be especially warm, but at least it wasn't salty.

Soon staggered as she got up, the trip on the darkness almost made her vomit as she really preferred illuminated places.
With a hand gesture, she slowly removed the bullets out of her body, it was a painful process but at least she wouldn't bleed out due to her powers.
"Ughh...I need to patch myself, I'm going to need stitches and some bandages."
after some minutes of doing the patchwork Soon finally showed herself, she was still covered just by the drenched coat, so she knew she really had to take a bath.
"I don't mind if Qiang joins in with me, he is not yet in that age right? and your kid does need a shower...don't worry, I'll take care of him"
Soon opened up the shower and found the water to be warm enough, compared to the cold rain that shower was a blessing, she just stood there as the water washed away the dirt, sweat, blood, and salt of her previous encounter, she then proceeded to get changed into a black-militaristic-uniform, she was so glad she finally got a break.
“Okay, I feel much better now, I appreciate the help, I’ll be sure to let the higher-ups in my clan know the HWIC assisted me.”
Soon looked around the cramped room, it would seem they had set up some sort of base, she sometimes wished the Musashi had more espers in their ranks, that way she could get two or three associates to join her in missions.
“If it isn't much trouble I would like to know what is your agency doing here, I am willing to cooperate depending on the details...also, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but what the hell are you? your whole aura is giving me the chills”
she said as she kept looking at the creature from head to toe, or from whatever body parts he had up and down.

"Qiang can stick with me." Dan let Soon go alone. She was right that Qiang wasn't at an age where there would be any special worries, but it would still be awkward for the child, and Dan was keeping Qiang right next to him for now. He kept stroking his hair and murmuring that it would be alright, slowly making the stabs of panic that struck out at everybody in the room die down. "So, you're not here to arrest me again I assume." Dan grumbled to the HWIC agent, then swore when Qiang looked at him in horror. "I'm not being arrested, it was a joke, we're fine." He hugged the child again. "Not unless you produce more of your spawn with this woman." The monster made a deep rumble that somewhat resembled a laugh.
"She's not my type." Dan glanced at Soon coming in. The military uniform didn't look bad though, he had to admit. "Alright, come on." He picked Qiang up again and walked past Soon. There wasn't a mirror, but he didn't need one to know that he looked like hell. He was covered in drywall and mud, his hair falling in a total mess down his back instead of an organized ponytail. He sighed and rubbed his face. "Alright, Qiang, we'll feel better when we're clean." He turned the knob and began to scrub.
Outside, the shadow being was taken aback when Soon asked what it was. "Oh, how rude I have been! I am Theo! I am a Demon God... reformed, of course." It bent in a way its broad stomach should have prevented to bow. "We have been observing this town for several weeks now. It contains a cult dedicated to one of my siblings, the Sea of Grey. They appear to be lead by a powerful psychic, who we hoped would provide leads on the Tongues of the Worm." He looked at one of the screens monitored by the intelligence agents around him. "We planned a bust within the next week, but it appears you have become quite entangled in things. This is quite the can of worms."

Soon heard the monster's comment and she did not find that amusing, they were not buddies exactly, and being inside him almost made her puke, also, all Musashi hated demons. Demon gods? twice as hated.
" Ha-Ha. Very funny, monster (*asshole*). Let me tell you this now, number 1, that's gross, I would never produce "Spawn" with a guy like that, number two, I happen to like women and number 3 Its so douchey on your part to be called Theo which just means God all over again."
Soon rolled her eyes when she heard the name, the reformed demon god still wanted to be called a god, just in a tricky way, perhaps a complex of his?.
She really wouldn't push further on that as the monster did save them from imminent doom and though he had a bad taste for jokes it did seem he was trying his best to be good.
"Anyway, "Theo" having that out of the way, what exactly are the Tongues of the worm? I've been hearing them since I spoke with Dan, also, can't you straighten up things with your brother? that town is full of crazy people, asking your demon god brother or whatever would be easier right?"
Soon did not really expect things to be as easy, she really just wanted to hear how demon gods also had family issues, that might get a giggle out of her.
"Ah, since we are also going to discuss that place, what in the world was that creature with the tentacles? I thought there were just humans in that town, now that it came to this they are going to be a lot more cautious"

"My apologies. I misunderstand human boundaries with some frequency and have clearly overstepped yours." Theo held up his hands. "I am a deity. Is recognizing the fact such a crime? Besides, it is for the sake of ease. The title humanity has long called me is the Swallower of Worlds, my true name unpronounceable." He grumbled the later, clearly stung. "I... do not get along with my siblings." Theo flopped into a computer chair, lowering him nearly to Soon's height. "I am one of very few who has the capacity for reason. The Worm is sapient, but not in a way that any mortal can relate to. Even I have vast difficulty in bending my mind enough to interact with her, and she would not listen even if I did so. The Sea is as capable of listening to my demands as the ocean itself. Certainly you or somebody you know have difficult relatives?" He vaguely gestured.
"Tentacles? The humans have been altered by their contact with my sibling, but I was not aware of any that were altered to such a degree. One of the benefits of this alliance is a kinship with monsters of the sea. Likely it is a native creature to your world drawn by the power of my sibling." Theo checked with an intelligence officer, but the operator just shrugged. It looked like there was no information on it, whatever it was.

*HAH, swallower...* Soon thought as she heard the name of the so-called god. After he explained why his brothers were different from him he then likened his situation to a normal family
"Well, yeah, I would definitely know some" she obviously thought about Mai and her sister, those two were BAD, though Soon was sure deep down they loved each other, what would they be doing right now anyway? Mai was probably in trouble, though Soon felt relieved she wasn't really there, *another 3 more weeks and she will forget about the issue* she thought.
"In any case, if that monster was a villager before it might just be the case that more and more will turn into those things, what have you been planning all these weeks? also, I would really like to fight, but I need some sunlight in order to be of help, any ideas on that? the weather here is terrible"
Soon looked around the place, she really felt useless just with her TK powers, the gunshots still stung like crazy just making her feel depressed all over. Normally, she would have taught the entire community of Greenwater a lesson. but as usual, it was dark places for her. bloody bullets were gonna kill her! Mai would have laughed right in her face.

"We have long expected the cult of criminal activities, but could not act without proof. We sought to make our move when they did. Now that we have, I am afraid we cannot contact the outside world. This tempest is beyond the regular weather patterns of this world." The Swallower listened to Soon's complaint about her power and grabbed something off the wall. It was an odd thing, like a backpack of hard plastic with a few blinking lights. "Are you familiar with the powers of Aria Miyata? She too derives her powers from your local star. As this town rarely has sunlight, we requested a device that provides solar energy of its own for our final assault upon the cult. It is no substitute for the sun itself, but it should provide you with some modicum of your proper strength." He held it like it was a stick of dynamite, dangling off a single finger at the end of his arm.

Soon almost drooled at the sight of the case, her eyes fully locked into it shamelessly gleaming before it, she felt much more comfortable knowing there was a way of getting her powers restored, she regained her composure as she talked to the demon god.
"I've heard the name of the president before, it's interesting to know she can use sunlight as well..., oh in any case, since I can power up with it I will assist you to the best of my abilities, OH! I also had another question, is it safe for us to leave the kid on this base while we assault Greenwater? It's been bugging me for a while the fact that I don't really know where we are"
The whole situation had a rapid change of pace but she had gained new confidence and was decided to stop the demon from messing with the town.
"Well, as soon as Dan comes back I think we will be ready, just fill us in on our roles and we will be ready to go."
Soon sat down in one of the chairs, now that the demon mentioned Aria she thought it would be cool to meet that woman in person, would she be a beauty or just some old lady? there weren't many light users she knew, perhaps they could have something in common? in any case, she still had 3 weeks, perhaps going on a trip to the US wouldn't be a bad idea, she could get Ann some of the stuff from her hometown and that would surely please Akane! Killing two birds with one stone would be great! Ah, if only she had more money...

"I intended to discuss our temporary custody of Qiang with Mr. Drake himself when he returns." Theo spoke just in time for Dan to come back. He carried Qiang in a bundle of towels like a tiny mummy, laying him on one of the beds in the back of the room. "His pajamas had blood on them and there was nothing in kid's sizes." He wrapped Qiang in the blankets and quietly stepped away. "Mr. Drake. We are several miles off the coast of Greenwater. Your son will be safe here if you choose to help us arrest the leaders of this cult." Theo explained to both. Dan shut his eyes and took a deep breath. "I'm in. These people lured me here to kidnap my son. I'm going to hit them hard." Dan grinned, eyes taking on a crazy edge. "Excellent. I will bring you back the same way I brought you here. We have two potential areas of interest at this moment. One is the jail, where your esper friend was apparently taken. The other is the church. We believe it may be their center of operations. It will likely be very well defended."

Soon liked the way Dan spoke, she came to respect him just a tad more for his decision, now they could get their revenge on them.
"That's more like it Dan! and with that device, I'll show them what I am really capable of!" she said as she pat the pink fighter on his back multiple times, Soon took some time to listen to the rest of the intel.
Since there were two areas of interest, then perhaps going to the jail first would be more sensible, the kid had some interesting powers, and they might be of use against the cult, if the demon god was also coming then things would be even better
"I think I have to get that kid out of there, after all, I promised I would treat him nicely and I plan on keeping my word, what do you think demon? should I go alone or are you and your men tagging along?"
Soon did care about the teen, not only because of the information he had, but she felt it was time for her to get a minion, at least she wouldn't be so lonely in the following weeks outside the Musashi lands, after that period he could be free to go wherever he wished though. Soon was not the type to enslave others, though putting Mai in shackles while gagging her wouldn't be a bad idea.
As she rambled in her mind, she also patiently waited to hear the response of the Demon God, if she had to go alone then perhaps Dan would be a gentleman and follow along...

Dan’s back stiffened when Soon touched it. “Please don’t do that.” He mumbled, all the confidence driven from him with a tap. “I will indeed come with you, but the other HWIC employees will remain. They are intelligence agents, not suited for combat. They will remain with your son, if you choose to come with us.” The creature of shadow waved to the agents and several of them feigned flexing with their unimpressive muscle. Dan looked to one who was taller and more ripped than him. “No powers.” The man shrugged. Dan just nodded back. Even the strongest regular human was a total joke to most fighters he knew. Dan knew five foot tall women who could outlift himself, let alone this guy.
“Three people versus a town full of monsters and cultists? I’ve faced worse odds.” He chuckled and cracked his knuckles. “Well then, we shall go to the jail, as the Musashi agent requested. I shall teleport us nearby. Appearing directly inside would be unwise without knowing what awaits us.” Theo took their hands again and lead them onto the deck outside. It was utterly dark out here, so black that the sky and water around him were indistinguishable from one another. What little light there was vanished as Theo teleported. It was just as unpleasant the second time. Dan came out of that place of darkness gasping and looked around to see what they faced.
They were up the hill from the shore, looking down at the jailhouse below. It was a miserably small building, ugly concrete with black mold crawling up the sides. A single grey townsfolk stood under the light at the back door, rifle in his hands. He turned his fishy eyes towards the appearing group just in time for Dan to rush in and knock him out with a single punch to the jaw. “So, they weren’t expecting us to come here, or they were incompetent, because one guy with a gun-” The townsman pulled himself to his feet with a froggy laugh.
“They left me because I am one of the closest to glory.” He pointed to his neck and Dan’s stomach churned at the gills he saw. Unseen was the rifle slowly edging out the window, aiming at the fighter in front. “You’re not going to tell me where the kid is, are you?” The townsfolk asked, eying Dan with his oversized lantern eyes. His scrawny body was changing as they watched, arms lengthening and rounded scales pushing from his skin. “Of course not.” Dan got into a fighting stance, arms up to defend his face. “Then I’ll claw it out of you.” He lunged as more grey townsfolk, also halfway transformed, rose up from the roof, two jumping at Soon while three more lunged at the Swallower of Worlds.

Soon would fly away as she attempted to pull all the rifles that were on sight, she might not have her photokinesis restored, but she was still handy with the way she used her telekinesis
"I'll be taking care of these, now time to show you how to properly use them!"
if Soon was successful, she would use the firearms on them, making the rifles fly and chase the targets through TK. As soon as that happened she would fire the rifles she got her hands on, shooting as many bullets as she could, aiming to cripple them rather than to kill the lot, this too was her way of paying them back for the bullet injuries that were still hurting at this point.
if the bullets connected she would then toss the rifles right at their heads, aiming to break some bones just to seal the deal, she would keep pummeling with the weapon until the rifles broke into pieces, the kind Soon was finally tired of their bullshit.
"Dan! I'll try to get the kid inside, I'll leave things to you here"
despite being successful or not Soon rushed towards the door, the sooner they got their hands on the teen, the earlier they could leave, it would be a major problem if reinforcements came to the jail while she still had her powers down, and they would inevitably come, as the sounds of gunfire would alert the rest, Soon felt she had to hurry for Dan, the demon god probably was strong enough to fend for himself as she rescued the kid, so she had no worries about him, after all, if he was a god, common weapons wouldnt be able to kill him, or so she thought.

The grey folk felt invisible hands yank at their guns. Slippery hands lost their grips, only one of the mob retaining his weapon. Gunshots rang out, dropping the majority. The lone remaining gun fired wildly. Bullets flew for both Theo and Dan. Theo didn’t even seem to notice he was hit, the bullets just vanishing in his dark body. Dan on the other hand yelped when he was hit. Soon would see the bullet flattened on his skin if she looked at the hole it left in his shirt. “Yeah, go, we’ve got this!” Dan found the fish-man’s strikes much more painful than bullets. He fought with knifehand chops, landing a hit on Dan’s neck.
Pain erupted from the strike. It was barely off from his arteries. “You’re pretty good.” He grinned. Behind him, Theo grabbed the rifle from the shooter with one hand while the other threw a single punch. The helpless being was thrown into the jail with enough force that the concrete blocks forming its walls cracked. Soon made it inside without interruption. It was about what was to be expected from a small town’s jail, only two cells along the wall and the sheriff’s desk at the other end. There sat the sheriff himself, now transformed like the man outside. Gasping gills opened like knife wounds on his neck, his fishy eyes looking at Soon without a hint of emotion or life.
Behind him Harold knelt, handcuffed to an ancient radiator. The tentacled thing that had attacked earlier loomed over him. In the light, it was even worse. Its flesh was a mottled green and crawling with little red parasites, ticks in the garb of a crab. Looking into its eyes was like gazing up at a starless sky, but they sat in a face far too human, even infantile, with pudgy cheeks stretched further by the mandibles that pushed their way out of its mouth. “Sorry about all that out there. We didn’t want you involved in all this. We have no beef with the Musashi, you see. Wrong place, wrong time, you know how it is.” The sheriff had his feet up on the table, boots kicked off. His long toes, only four and all webbed, flexed. “You can take the Tongue agent and leave in peace. I guarantee it. This is your free pass out. The storm itself will clear a path for you.” He placed an odd object on the table, not a sheriff’s badge but close in shape. If Soon looked close, she would see that its surface was glassy, something silvery moving under it.

*Fuck! that thing is here!* Soon immediately thought to herself, this wouldn't even be a fight, without her true powers that thing would pummel her to the ground and turn her into paste.
"I-Is that so?, well, I guess mistakes have been made, I'll take this guy and leave Greenwater then, there is nothing left for The Musashi to do here anyway"
Soon wasn't really taking their offer, but she had to play along, that way she could get the teen and get out alive at the same time, after that they could regroup and attack again, Soon wasn't stupid, nothing guaranteed that badge was a pass out, it could very well be a tracker, or even worse, a bomb. she reached for the badge with her powers, making it float a good meter away from her.
After enough distance was made between her and these assholes she could toss that crap out of the way, Soon wasn't leaving Greenwater until those guys were done!
The Esper of the Musashi then looked at the radiator where the teen was held, she eyed at the sheriff, almost as if waiting for him to let him go, in the meantime Soon contacted telepathically Dan and the swallower of worlds
*I have the kid, you guys should fall back until you are out of sight, but don't make it too obvious, there is a monster out of my league inside, so I had to make a deal with them, I'm just playing along for now...the sheriff has given me an artifact, perhaps Theo can look a little into it before I decide to toss it away? we shouldn't return to the base with something we know nothing of*
All that was left was to have some positive thinking and hope that they would just do as they promised...

Soon would hear whispers in her head as she spoke. It was like being called to from the bottom of a watery abyss, little more than wavering gurgles. The sheriff stared, sighing when she finished. "Well shit. I was hoping you'd at least have the decency to reject me honest." The sheriff waved to the monster beside him and it slid forward. "There are more powerful minds than you in this town, esper. Lies will not survive.” The sea beast threw down one of its arms in a smash that could crush a car flat.
Outside, Dan clashed again with the fishy fighter. He blocked a few more chops aimed at his neck, leaving his forearms sore. “Are there more like you?” He asked as he blocked another blow, stumbling back a few steps. “At least two dozen. And half a dozen fully transformed, all the greater than myself! Even if you beat me-” A fist met the creature’s gills, dropping him gasping to his knees. “I’ll have plenty of good fights left.” Dan finished for him, kicking the creature in the face. “Theo, you need-” He turned to find the demon god standing over the rest of the townsfolk, all battered into submission. “I do not. Let us see if we can not assist our third member.” He walked past Dan, approaching the door.

"AHHHH FUCK."
Before Theo could approach the door, Soon busted out of it flying for her life, that thing there was outright disgusting and creepy, Soon still held to the artifact with her powers, perhaps it could be of use later?
"Theo! they figured my plan, but the kid is still inside, we need to beat that thing! "- she immediately remembered the words of the sheriff which pissed her off to no end
*More powerful minds than me? asshole, just because I'm not a mentalist doesn't mean I don't have my specialties!*
Soon readied herself, waiting for the creature to come out, with Dan and the Demon God, they could probably take it on!" she dug for some rocks out of the ground with her TK, she might not be able to influence the creature directly, but she could still shoot at it!
"Dan, be careful, that thing is strong! I can't even make it budge with TK!"
Dan seemed to be far more resilient than the average human, being a fighter and a Ki user would definitely help, but she did not know the extent of his abilities, It all depended on how strong the so-called God was! the way things were, Soon wished she had brought her blades with herself! fighting with rocks was...shameful. ahhh if any other Musashi were to see this display they would surely kick her out of the five rings in a second.

Dan jumped back as Soon rushed past him. Before he could ask what happened, the beast followed. It should have been vastly too large for the door, but its body bonelessly bent to push through. Soon's barrage of rocks bounced off the creature's rubbery skin, leaving nicks and scratches but doing no deeper harm. It glided towards her and raised a tentacle, but Dan lunged in front of her. He unleashed a brutal assault, elbows, knees, and fists. Its head was thrown around like a doll, but the tentacle came down uninterrupted. Dan raised a shield of pink at the last second. The tentacle smashed through and sent him tumbling across the ground.
The creature didn't even have time to turn back to Soon before Theo's slow shuffled brought him up to it. He threw a single punch and the creature went straight through the building. The earth itself shook with the force of the punch and the creature was hidden in the dust of the wrecked prison. The sheriff became visible first, peeking out with shock. "Ah. I should have restrained myself more." The demon god looked down at his first. "...more?" Dan cocked his head. The dust began to settle and the creature's hulking silhouette became clear again. It slid forward, revealing that chunks of concrete were stabbing into its flesh but it was otherwise unharmed. "Hm. Or perhaps less." Theo drew back his fist again. "Blunt force isn't cutting it. Soon, what else can you do?" The creature shoved aside rubble with its "leg" tentacles, mostly concrete with some twisted cell bars mixed in.

Soon witnessed as Theo sent the creature flying, it would seem he wasn't bluffing when he said he could have used more force, as the creature getting up did not phase him in the slightest, Soon flew close to him as he asked her about her other abilities
"Give me some light and I will show you something interesting, without light the best I can do is stall the creature"
Soon could really use that device he showed her earlier, her photokinesis was a fearsome ability, but it had massive drawbacks, she had to get some light.
"Okay, it's been a while since I last toyed with light at such a minuscule level, but let's see what I can do!"
The Esper aimed to press against the creature with her TK in an attempt to stop it from moving, at the same time she aimed to twist the minuscule light particles away from the retinas of the creature, if light was diffracted in a wrong way, she could effectively blind the creature or at least make it much harder for it to channel a proper image into its eyes, for Soon to twist light at such a minuscule level, it required her to fully concentrate, and that included her not being able to move, little by little, she began to shift the path of the photons with her ability, dispersing them right before they could enter the retinas, naturally, she couldn't directly look at the effects she was creating but rather she felt them with her mind, perhaps in the same way psychics can detect spirits, she too could detect waves of light when concentrated enough, all that was left was for Dan and Theo to take advantage of that.

"Ah yes, the device. I stowed it for your use." Theo reached inside himself, darkness into darkness, and pulled out the pack. "Simply don it as you would a backpack and it should provide solar energy for your use." He tossed it to her, clearly uncomfortable touching it. "I implore you to use the utmost caution in using any luminary attacks." He slowly lurched away from her to avoid her light. Dan rushed in in his place, hitting the monster with a massive right hook. It bounced off again, but the creature turned its attention to him again as he intended. He was close enough to smell the sea-bile stench rolling off the monster, like briny water that crabs had been rotting in. "Put that on quick, I can only do this dance so long!" Dan ducked a tentacle and smashed a chin the monster didn't have with his elbow.

Soon lounged herself onto the backpack, she was too excited to hide it anymore, barely even listening to Theo and the fact that he was somewhat bothered by the instrument
"Caution?! you are one to talk! you sent that thing busting through the prison! what if the kid got hurt?! Whatever!, Out of the way Dan!, I'm turning this asshole into minced meat!"
The esper began to pull energy from the backpack into herself, her skin getting a glittery tint to it, a face of satisfaction came as she felt the power coursing through her entire body once again, now the villager would have to eat its words! the esper of the Musashi was back at full power!
"Alright! let's get the party started!"
Soon's body made the bandages over her body burn as the bullet wounds she previously had closed in a second, She held her hand up and with a gesture small balls of light began to form around her, hovering on the side until 6 were formed, the photon particles were then shot in the form of lasers, each ball being able to fire a burst of light lasting no more than a couple of seconds before disappearing, the lasers while not being any thicker than the width of a pencil, would easily go through layers of concrete with ease.
In a moment that to the naked eye would be perceived as instantaneous the 6 balls shot the lasers, all aimed at the legs of the creature, Soon licked her lips as the attack happened, she couldnt wait any longer to torture the creature!
"Now scream for me, baby! scream if you wanna live longer you horrible fuck!!"
