"The HWIC? Really?" Kasumi took a special interest in finding the HWIC agent in their midst. Sarah just blended in too well to be so easily picked out by anybody who didn't already know her. "I'm sure if you were ready for the JHWAB, you're ready for the HWIC." Tachibana swirled his wine and looked at Kasumi. "So, your daughter is 18 Akiyama-sama. While we're all here together, why don't we discuss our wedding? I happen to think this very island is lovely in July, and I can take you all to a spot I'm thinking of renting after the auction if you'd like." His smile was aimed at Kasumi, but his words went right around her to her father. Kasumi hid the grinding of her teeth with a slice of squid. Kichiro looked more ill than usual beside her. He gave her a sympathetic look but kept his mouth shut as their father chewed on what Tachibana said. "Sometime July isn't bad. My apologies for not locking down the time earlier. We have been forced to keep our schedules flexible as we expanded our operations. But it won't be on this island. We have a shrine picked out already." He slowly grumbled. "What about my studies, father?" A red Kasumi dared ask. "At a regular school you would already be graduated. You know plenty." Her father's glare told her to be silent.
"How about you walk with Tachibana-san and discuss this?" Kasumi's mother suggested without moving a muscle. "I was about to. You're all dismissed." The head of the family took off with the blue-haired businessman. Her mother kept her neutral stare and Kichiro his ill sympathy, but the young man at the head of the table just looked admiring of his father's business sense. Kasumi grumbled and pushed her chair away. Kichiro reluctantly followed as she stormed out of the room.
"What is she doing?" Jun asked about the furiously typing Mai. Her confusion turned to barely concealed delight when she was included. "I'm sure there's no bugs. It would be expensive to bug every room." Jun was too embarrassed to say she had crawled around her room for hours before coming down, searching for any bugs that may have been planted. She led the group to the elevator and up 5 floors, right to the top of the hotel. With the swipe of a key card, they entered an oversized room with nearly an entire wall dedicated to windows looking down at the ocean below. Jun kept her shoes on as she walked to the bed and opened a drawer in the side table. Placed over the standard Bible was a thick folder. "I did some research on after our last run-in." She pulled out a chair in the room's kitchen and sat down at the counter. "Oh, but first, ah, there's food and drinks in the fridge. If you want any of course." Jun coughed and opened the folder. "Akiyama Hachiro is the head of the family. He's a career yakuza who recently rose to the top in the wake of a major conflict that wiped out most of the major families in Tokyo. He took control of a spirit-trafficking ring from my family a little over 20 years ago." She displayed a few pictures of Hachiro in younger days. He was always short and barrel-chested, built like a tall dwarf. It was difficult to tell his age in any of the with the sour expression he wore hardening his face. "He's a ki user, but I couldn't find out anything about his training or if he's using a demon. He's a traditionalist, I know that, so if he uses a weapon it's sure to be orthodox." Jun moved those pictures aside to show pictures of his children. "You already know about Kichiro, so I'll skim over him. His oldest son is Ichigo. It seems he's the main money launderer, he works at a front business they run. They sell scented candles, so I figure they use those shipments to move spirits around as well. I couldn't find out what kind of spirit he uses either. The other kid I would look out for too. Her name is Kasumi, and she's a Gateway student. She'll be able to summon monsters and it seems she's an ice mage. She's got a shadow demon that defends her from attack." Jun moved the children aside to show pictures of the mother of the family. "This is Akiyama Chihiro. I can't find a whole lot about her. She seems pretty low-key. It looks like she got with Hachiro right before he got into the yakuza business. It seems they're both orphans, so nothing on her family." Jun set down an image of Chihiro in traditional makeup, eyebrows a mere dot over her own closed eyes. She certainly didn't seem all that odd, especially not by the family's usual standards.

"Gotcha," Mai said as she put her right hand over her forearm, sparks and smoke began to appear for a while. Mai had an innate ability, she could create and destroy machines with a single touch, her being a Shindo turned out to be useful for the Musashi as the virtual machine was largely created using those powers.
Mai opened up her hand, a silver USB shaped like a diamond with the Musashi crest in gold still steaming appeared
"Well, took me long enough, this is for you," she said as she handed the USB to Remillia. "Consider it a gift on my part, use it if you wish, I've got to admit I am very impressed with what you've made there, the coding for it was also friendly enough," she said as she looked at Remilia's purse.
"wow, you must really like her huh?" Akane told her sister somewhat envious as she witnessed the gift, usually Akane wouldn't get one from her not even in Christmas, Mai headed to the fridge to grab a beer as she told her sister to shut up.
while Mai was having her drink, Akane listened carefully to the intel Jun had on the Akiyamas, it was clear that if things went south, it wouldn't just reduce to a bar fight like the last time.
"The way things are, I think it would be safer to take one of the Akiyamas as a hostage, then trade it for the demon. we could also try ambushing the buyer after the auction, but it is hard to say who will get it. if any of you have ideas I'm certainly happy to hear them. great job on the intel Jun."

Listening to both the Akiyamas talk via her bug and the inside of the room from a bug she had flicked onto Jun's dress, Sarah debated which target was better to go after. She heard the rebellion in Kasumi's voice...but the information from Jun told her that a demon resided with the ice mage. An ice mage likely had little use for a demon, so it must have been forced on her by her family. Sarah couldn't tell Kichiro's dissatisfaction from the audio alone, so her best chance appeared to be with these strangers. A small amount of interest crept into Sarah's mind when she thought of teaming up with descendents of the Musashi, Sarah having heard many stories of them when she lived in Japan.
Stepping into an unoccupied hallway, Sarah focused on the wall of the room and closed her eyes, teleporting in a crouched position to the corner of the room. Sarah found herself behind a bookcase filled with novels with a thick layer of dust on them, being there for aesthetics rather than to read apparently. The teleport was completely silent, even her feet touching the ground not making a sound upon impact. Sarah stood upright and began walking toward the group, hand near her jacket pocket. "I believe you all are looking to...acquire that demon, correct?" Sarah asked, staying out of sword range of the 3 swordsmen and making sure someone was between herself and Remilia. "I believe our goals align, in that case." The HWIC stealth force captain leaned against a nearby table with her legs. Her voice was authoritative, yet making an attempt to sound conversational. "Marie Robinson. I'm part of the HWIC, here to investigate the demon and extract it if possible. What reason do you all have for disrupting this...auction?" She asked, glancing between the Musashi and Jun. She kept Remilia on the far end, making sure she didn't have a clear line of sight to shoot should things go south.

Remilia took the USB stick given to her by Mai. "Thank you. Although I am not sure how it is different from the one I have already." She looked around the room for a computer. If Jun's room had one, she could use it to transfer her programs right away. Otherwise she'd have to wait until she got home since her quantum computer was set up to use the programs, not transfer them.
Whether she got the opportunity to transfer her programs or not, Remilia also listened to Jun's briefing and Akane's suggestion.
"Taking an Akiyama as a hostage sounds difficult, especially considering what Jun just told us about them. Ambushing the buyer might also be difficult, depending on who ends up getting it. I believe our best chance is before the demon leaves whatever vault it's being kept in. Distracting the other attendees while we... Confiscate the demon, perhaps even framing one of them, seems more manageable. But first we have to find where the demon is being kept."
The meeting was interrupted by a strange woman suddenly appearing. She introduced herself as part of the HWIC and claimed she was here to do the same thing they were here to do. But, could she really be trusted?
"How do we know you are really from the HWIC? How do you know what we're after? How did you even get in here, Marie?" Remilia glanced over at Jun, to see if she recognized the woman or if she knew about any other entrances into the room.

The only computer in the room was Jun's own, a sleek blue laptop covered in stickers of flowers. Jun grumbled when she realized it was in the open. "The stickers were a gift from a friend, I couldn't not use them." I must look childish. She thought. The Shattered One made a mental shrug. "Adult humans these days watch cartoons and buy toys. It seems that being childish is in how you treat others, not your hobbies." It murmured to her. Jun just straightened up and tried to ignore it.
"Hostage-taking is a tactic for scum. We're better than that, Akane." Jun sneered. "I know somebody else is planning on causing trouble here, and that may just be our in. If we can find her and learn her plan, we could use the chaos of it to make our own move." Jun was looking irritated as she made her suggestion. She really didn't want anything to do with Laura after she was humiliated by her, but she was likely their best option. She suddenly caught a figure coming towards them in the corner of her eye and startled. She toppled off the bed and came up covered in rainbow scales.
"You! How dare you invade my room!" She growled, hand out and ready to stab with her fingers. She only slightly calmed down when the intruder spoke. HWIC? Another person who wouldn't allow the demon to change hands. If, of course she was telling the truth. "We'll tell you when you show us your badge." Even if she was undercover she must carry it. Jun knew the power of ID, especially after her own BHA card was stolen while she headed to a job over a year ago.

"See it for yourself, this is a one time gift, so think carefully when using it," Mai replied as she had another sip of her beer, she almost spat her drink when Jun told Akane her tactic was for scum.
"Funny, I suggested that because I thought it would suit you" Akane replied with a smirk, yet on the inside, she wanted to choke the life out of the shattered one, Akane was about to taunt even further when she noticed Jun's reaction, they had been compromised.
Much to Akane's surprise, the one who got into the room was the girl she suspected of all along, despite looking innocent on her approach, she was perfectly set to use Remilia as a shield, if a conflict began, she would definitely take advantage of that.
"Tch, I thought you said the room was clean!" she shouted at Jun, Mai, on the other hand, kept drinking her beer nonchalantly
"see? this is why having a plan is for amateurs," normally, she wouldn't have cared whether Remilia was in the middle or not, the moment a mission was compromised for Mai, she would have blasted Remilia along with her target, but she took a liking to the quantum hacker, and deemed her too valuable to be used as cannon fodder, so she ended up doing nothing.
Akane couldn't help but wonder how she managed to get inside without her noticing, had it been teleportation? Shunkan Ido? it would be good to press her further with questions
"Marie Robinson huh? I'm sorry, I cannot afford to give you the demon, had you been from the JHWAB then the matter would be more open to discussion, but no private organization should have control of this demon. if you wish to cooperate then start thinking more about destroying the creature or sending it back to hell rather than keeping it, you will get no help from us otherwise."
Akane was unarmed, yet the girl was still keeping her distance, it was obvious she had intel on the virtual machine.

A small frown appeared on Sarah's head when both Akane and Jun seemed to react to her with suspicion, Akane going so far as to set terms for their cooperation. Sarah reached into her coat pocket and produced a rectangular wallet-sized object that she flipped open, showing an official-looking HWIC ID card with her picture and matching name on it. "Convinced now?" She asks, tossing it to Remilia to share with whomever still had doubts about her identity. The HWIC made sure to produce proper credentials for Sarah's various identities during missions, in case she wished to cooperate with someone without revealing her true name. She then turned her attention to Akane.
"I can assure you; the HWIC only wishes to contain the demon and make sure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Our research team is working on a way to send it back to Hell without the option for someone to resummon it later. If we sent it back right now, that option is likely still available in the future. And outright murdering a captive should be avoided, no?" Sarah asked. Perhaps pointing out the flaws in their logic would make them more ready to cooperate. She was willing to send the demon back to hell...but it wouldn't be ideal.

Remilia examined the badge closely. Nothing seemed off about it, but she didn't have significant experience with HWIC after she learned about her powers and the hidden world. She took out her quantum computer and pressed a few buttons, but no one in the room could tell what she was doing. Their best guess would probably be that she's trying to verify it's validity somehow. In truth, she was checking it's code so that, if it was real, she could actually verify the validity of future badges. Plus, it meant she could replicate it if she needed one in the future.
"You are probably more familiar with these badges. I cannot tell if it is a forgery." She gave the badge to Jun. "If you believe her story, may I borrow your laptop for a minute?"
While Jun checked the badge, Remilia turned to 'Marie' and said, "You still didn't answer how you know what we are doing. Or how you got inside. If there are hidden passages in here, we need to make them unusable."

“I forgave you last time because you helped me out. Don’t test me, Musashi.” Jun grumbled to Akane as she accepted the card. She looked carefully, checking especially things like height and eye color. Jun still felt the sting of losing her own identification when she was going to a job. A bit of research had told her it was a woman named Yuu Arachne, an undead abomination nearly half a foot taller than her. But Marie here matched up with all those little details. "Ah... please don't touch my laptop." She waved Remilia off.
Jun knew it was difficult to fake an ID. She had paid top dollar to make herself a replacement ID until she could pluck her original from Arachne’s severed arm. “Fine. I suppose it does us no good to reject your help. I plan on sending the demon back to hell though.” Jun unzipped her bag, showing a pile of scrolls. “Killing it will have the same result, but I’d rather not resort to that. We can, and this will help,” She tapped the odd ringlet on her head. “But if it’s worth this whole auction, it would be a hard fight.” And we will not be causing unnecessary harm to demons if I can help it. The Shattered One seemed to be awake once more. “Yes, I know, but they find that weird.” Jun barely even whispered back.

"So, want a beer?" Mai said to Sarah as she went to the fridge for a refill of her own, it's not that she trusted the HWIC agent, its just that she simply didn't give a damn.
Akane looked at Sarah as she leaned her back against the wall, she declined checking the ID, as it happened to be of little relevance to her whether she was the real deal or not. "I will trust you, but know that if you lie to us i will remember it" Akane then addressed Jun's claim.
"Ah, again with the threats Jun? I am just kidding!" she replied as she shrugged, she was doing her best not to be annoying, but her ego won that fight from before, Akane walked up closer to the shattered one as she whispered in her ear: "Now might not be a good time, but someone roughed you up already right,? how's your hand? who was it?"
As the secret talk began, Mai headed where Remilia was, she began hopping anxiously around, almost as if she was waiting for Remilia to open the best birthday present of her life, the whole thing stopped when Mai looked at Jun's computer.
*eh?*" PFTTT HAHAHAHA WHAT THE HELL?!, HEY SIS! LOOK AT THIS!, IT'S JUST LIKE YOURS!! SHE EVEN HAS THE FLOWER STICKERS!! YOU TWO HAVE MORE IN COMMON THAN I THOUGHT!!"Mai lifted the computer as she showed it to Akane, her sister turned a bright red when she looked at the device
"SHUT UP!!, MINE DOESNT LOOK LIKE THAT AT ALL!" Akane went after her sister as she stupidly kept waving the laptop back and forth over her head, she smashed Mai out of the room into the hallway with a kick and proceeded to slam shut the door, Akane had the laptop on her hands for less than a second before she quickly gave it back to Remilia, she proceeded to sit down in a corner trying to play as if nothing had ever happened.

Unfortunately, Jun refused to let Remilia use the laptop. She wanted to find a way to check the USB, but she had no idea. While she was weighing her options, Mai took the laptop and started making fun of it.
"That is rude, Mai. The laptop is cute." Remilia said, stoically. Then Akane kicked her own sister out of the room and handed the laptop to Remilia, who put it back on the desk.
"Welcome to the team, Marie. But does anyone know where I could find a nearby computer? I am curious what this USB is about. Other than that, I guess we should start planning our movements."

Sarah deliberately ignored Remilia's question about how she got into the room, which was helped when it appeared her attention was diverted to the laptop and the silly stickers that lay on top. She suspected that Remilia was trying to duplicate her card with the strange powers she was informed about earlier, but any HWIC agent could tell the fake at a glance. Sarah looked up at Mai and nodded her head. "That would be wonderful." She stated. Having one beer wouldn't affect her judgement much, and a simple beer would be pleasant in this building full of overly fancy food.
When Mai began to squawk about Jun's laptop being covered in stickers, Sarah couldn't help but laugh at Akane's overly dramatic reaction. She wiped a small tear out of her right eye when Remilia began to address her again. "Hah hah...my apologies. You're both adorable." She stated. Sarah loved seeing the more vulnerable side of people who try to portray themselves as badass. It's part of why she loved it when she found pictures of her boyfriend Alex when he was a child, dressed up Raphael from Ninja Turtles for halloween. Alex wasn't thrilled at the discovery, of course.
Recovering her composure, Sarah looked at the laptop and rolled her eyes. "Come on, just let her use your laptop and see what's on that stick. I wouldn't trust putting any data into a computer from this place, since rich people tend to have good cybersecurity measures." She stated. Plugging an unknown USB into a protected computer has led to many people discovering their USB drives being corrupted, and needing to be unlocked by the network manager at the HWIC. Hopefully they had some a more concrete plan to recover the demon...otherwise she'd need to take charge.

Jun narrowed her eyes when Akane whispered to her. "We'll be meeting her soon. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll like her." She grumbled back. Her eyes widened in horror when Mai grabbed her computer. "We are not putting her USB in my computer. Come, we're on a strict schedule here." Her cheeks reddened, but she spoke like nothing was happening. She yanked her laptop from Mai's hands and threw it onto the bed before leading the group downstairs. The lobby Remilia was shunted off to was no different from any other upscale resort. Marble floors, dark reddish wood for the receptionist's desk, and the computers hidden away in a corner to avoid ruining the aesthetic. When Remilia came to the bank of computers, they were nearly unoccupied. Everybody of importance was waiting deeper in the hotel it seemed. The only person there was an aging blonde man, hunched in front of the computer in a threadbare black trenchcoat.
If Remilia took the opportunity too look at his computer screen, she'd see what appeared to be some sort of chatroom with a black background and white letters. If she looked closer, the text all appeared to be gibberish, mixing not just different languages but entirely different alphabets. The weary-looking man chuckled as he read through. "They call this encryption? I thought these people knew what they were doing." He barely glanced at Remilia, not seeming to mind if she saw his work. The rest of the group entered the dining room as planned, Jun in the lead scanning the room. "There. That woman was planning on disrupting this auction as well. I don't know her companions." Laura Crown was sitting at a dinner table with a few other people, looking miffed about how obvious the bandages under her dress were. With her were a man in a turban, a cyclops in a red dress, and a strange man of uncertain species. He looked like he might have been half dwarf, what with his short stature and muscular build, but he displayed no signs of significant body hair and what he had on his head was little more than a buzzcut. The angles of his face were so sharp he looked to be chiseled from stone, making his vibrant orange eyes and bushy eyebrows a jarring shift from everything else.
Jun started to lead them before coming to a halt so sudden she nearly fell over. "You go on ahead of me. I have other business to attend to." She stepped away to stare at a couple in one of the far corners of the room as her own companions passed her. It would just be an aging Asian couple to anybody else. The man's hair had retreated to somewhere north of his ears and would never see the rest of his head again. Jun had seen its first steps back when she was young. The woman still hid an old scar under heavy makeup, but time had stretched it to the point where nothing could be done. Jun remembered when she got that scar. Her intestines coiled like a serpent. Tears gathered at her eyes, hesitating on the rim. Memories exiled long ago were coming home to roost, bringing bile to her throat. And now Jun tapped the hilt of her sword, thinking of killing her parents.

As soon as the group entered the room Jun told them about Laura, who was surrounded by her companions, much to Akane's surprise the man in the turban happened to be one of them.
"That woman is quite beautiful, is she strong?" she asked the shattered one who was too busy to answer, something had caught her eye in a very bad way and it was showing, Akane put her hand on Jun's shoulder and told her to be careful as she let her go on her own.
Mai, on the other hand, took Jun's words at face value and proceeded to grab Sarah by the hand, "perhaps you can get a better view there?" she said pointing towards the bar, she wanted to know the female spy some more but at the same time she also wanted to have a drink, Mai couldn't help but think how Sarah or Remilia would behave after having 6 or 7 shots of tequila, and speaking about Remilia, how would she react upon opening her present?

The sudden reddening of Jun's cheeks told Sarah all she needed to know. If she had to guess, Jun had more childish things beyond the stickers on her computer. Jun didn't appear competent enough to fake an embarrassed reaction. When the group made their way down to the dining room, Sarah motioned toward her allies. "I must ask that you keep my affiliation a secret. I wish to keep this matter as secretive as possible." She told Akane, Mai and Jun. The stealth force captain looked at Jun with suspicion when she wished to split off from the group. The clumsy stop indicated this was hardly pre-planned, and Sarah knew this couldn't end well. "Don't do anything stupid." Sarah said as she passed, Mai grabbing her hand and pointing toward the bar.
"Perhaps just for a second." Sarah stated, flashing a smile and walking up to the bar and ordering a drink. Once it arrived, she looked toward Mai. "Since our flowery friend has left, how do you wish to confront this group? I have no information on them." She stated. That last part was quickly going become a lie as she adjusted her hair, brushing past her ear to run a report on the people at the table, taking a sip of her drink afterwards.

Remilia didn't bother looking at the wannabe cyberpunk man's computer until he muttered something about encryption. That naturally drew her attention. Once she did look, she saw the mishmash of gibberish and strange symbols and realized she had no way of actually reading it. More importantly, while she had no idea what the man was doing, she had a feeling the demon heist their group was planning was probably not the only off script event for this auction. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing though. If this man did something big, it would be a good distraction for their own actions. She'll have to inform the others about her observations, if for no other reason than to make sure they're ready to adapt to sudden plan shifts.
Remilia took a seat in front a PC a few spaces away from the Hollywood hacker stereotype. She put in the Musashi folder first and checked it out. There were three programs in there, two of which added on to two of her viruses. The third one was a defensive tool which could come in handy, but she wasn't expecting to use it very often. While checking the programs' codes she noticed a grave mistake in the first two, which she set about fixing before doing anything else.

The elderly man occasionally glanced at Remilia but otherwise left her alone, paying attention to his own screen. He eventually shut the screen off and stood, stretching. His gaze was more fixed on Remilia now. He frowned like her recognized her but wasn't sure from where. Soon enough he shrugged and walked away, giving Remilia a last look as he walked by. He didn't seem to understand what was on her screen, eyes going blank when he saw it. The threadbare man huffed and left. "Jenifer, I'm home!" Jun hung up her coat. She kicked off her uncomfortable work shoes and crashed down on a black leather couch. Soreness seemed to flow out of her body as she relaxed, but the blisters in her soles weren't going anywhere. "Fucking hell, did I get a letter back from any of the places I applied while I was out? Jen!" Jun leaned up and checked her watch. It was only 8:45. She couldn't have gone to bed already? "Mother, father?" Jun jumped to her feet and entered the kitchen to find her parents at the table.
Fucking grim shit-eaters. It wouldn't kill either of you to smile. They looked especially dour today, looming over the kitchen table like vultures. "Hello. Where's Jen?" Jun rummaged in the drawers for a coffee cup to avoid looking at her parents. "We don't know. We told her to leave." Her mother said. "Probably her boyfriend's place. It's his fault after all." Her father added. "Leave?" Jun picked a white mug with pastel flowers all over it. "It's embarrassing enough for you to still be here when you're 25-" "I'm 24. I told you, I'll move out soon, I just need to find a new place." "But a lycanthrope? We have enough problems. We couldn't afford the safe room, the special clothes. And the neighbors would never let us hear the end of it!" Mrs. Li's face screwed up saying this.
"A lycanthrope!? Jen got bit!? Is she alright!?" Jun wasn't quite processing this. Told to leave? Why were they talking about how much stuff would cost? Jun was the first to complain they didn't live like they did back in Korea, but they were hardly broke. "She didn't get it from a bite. That boy she's dating is a lycan and she didn't wear a condom last time she snuck away to meet up with him. She transformed while you were gone and did that." Her father pointed at the fridge, giving Jun a jolt when she realized there were vicious claw marks down the stainless steel front. "Imagine what would have happened if we were here." He said as if he expected Jun to give a damn if they were killed. Especially now.
"You threw her out!?" It was finally clicking. "She disgraced us! We put up with so much from you two, but this is where we draw the line! We told her to stay away from that girl and yet she went and had her fun! Actions have consequences, Jun!" Her father glared, her mother just dumbly nodding. Jun stared at them with increasing horror before turning and leaving the kitchen. "Where are you going?" Her mother asked after her. "To Jun's boyfriend's house. I'm not coming back. And I'm taking my cup." She waved the mug. "Wait! Jun! Think this through. You are our legacy. You're in a bad spot, but you'll come back. Don't waste time with her." Her father caught up and placed his hand on her shoulder. She shrugged it off. "I'm not your legacy. You lost both your daughters today." Her teeth grit and she pointed her finger in his face. "But you're right that I'll come back. I'll get a better job, a better place! I'll earn more money than your slave-driving ever did! I'll have everything I deserve, everything your idiocy and vileness cost me!" He stepped back with each screaming word until he backed into the kitchen and she slammed the door behind him.
In her room, she threw the mug into a suitcase full of all the clothes she could fit. Looking at her familiar surroundings made her determination falter. Was it weakness, to cling to her childhood room like this? Of course it is. Come on, we don't have any good memories here. Mom and dad screaming at each other, ear infections, nightmares... Jen sleeping with me cause she's scared, my first time, my only friend. Jun blinked back tears and reached for her friend. A massive blue teddy bear, nearly three feet all, she lifted and turned it. She pulled the zipper in the back and pulled out a bottle hidden among the stuffing. What lay inside was almost like a snake with scales of stained glass, but the multitude of tiny limbs and the three glowing eyes suggested something even more alien than that.
"Hey. We're moving again, little guy." She gently set the bottle in her suitcase. "Can I be on a windowsill this time? I don't like not having a view." Its voice was agonizing, piercing, like shattering glass, but she only smiled. "Okay. You won't have to hide anymore. My sister will understand. She's not like other people." Jun's lip wobbled and tears rolled down her cheeks. She had said the same thing about her boyfriend, but this time it was true. Things were about to look up. Now she glared at her parents from across the room, wondering if she was spotted yet. Jenifer hadn't been at her boyfriend's house, and she never answered her phone. Everything else was history. If Jenifer was even alive, she didn't know it anymore. Her fingers twitched looking at them. They deserved to die. She'd duel them both, and being powerless, they'd both die in an instant. It would be easy. She felt a stewing rage, that heat that brewed the hurricane. Images of their dead bodies wouldn't leave her mind, twisting her stomach. They deserved it. They deserved it. And she must be the one to do it.

Mai looked at the demi-goddess as she took a sip of her Manhattan, she would bite her lip unconsciously as she was entrailed by the sheer beauty of the woman.
"is that so?" Mai replied to Sarah without paying much attention to what she said as she was still looking at the demi-goddess.
"I think the best approach is a direct one, doing the right questions will show their intentions," she said as a lame excuse to get closer to the woman.
Mai forgot about her drink as she fixed her dress and proceeded to walk towards the group's table, without paying much attention to the rest of the group she came close to the demigoddess and reached her side as she spoke to her in a flirtatious tone
"It's not every day that I see someone as gorgeous as you, the name's Mai Musashi, I was thinking that perhaps the both of us could share a drink at the bar," she said as she got even closer to her, further whispering to her ear
"If I seem too boring to you I will let you be, but I'd rather have this end up with me on your bed, how about it? we can forget about the auction...have your friends here take care of it"
although anyone would think Mai was setting a trap, Laura's powers would shockingly show she was telling the truth.
On the other side of the Dining hall, Akane witnessed as Jun left with her bloodlust at peak, ready to kill the target of her anger. on the other hand, she watched as how her stupid sister began to talk with the enemy, Akane couldn't help but facepalm at the situation, she really wished her father hadn't sent Mai along on that mission, having 2 of the five rings fail at the same time would not only bring shame to her family but also break her perfect record, without thinking too much, she rushed towards Sarah.
"I need a favor, we need to stop these two idiots, Jun will definitely murder someone here and my sister is gonna ruin the mission, please have both in check, I will go get Remilia"
Akane walked at a thunderous pace out of the hall in search of Remilia, hoping time would be on her side.

After fixing the broken code, Remilia set about copying her preexisting programs over to the Musashi folder. She also made some modifications to her codes while she did that, inspired by the mistake she fixed in Mai's gift. After replacing the USB, she turned off the PC and looked around. The man was gone, so there was nothing else for Remilia to do here.
The quantum hacker went to the dining room where the rest of the group should be. Just as she reached it, Akane ran into her.
"Is everything alright?" Remilia asked, looking around. Everything seemed fine from where she was standing, but she did notice Jun standing alone, staring intently at something. "What is Jun looking at?"

The sheer audacity of Mai's offer left Sarah staring blankly at the scene before her, resisting the urge to bring her sheathe down upon Mai's head for her sheer stupidity. Perhaps teaming up with this group was a big mistake. She shifted her eyes to see Akane addressing her, giving a small sigh in response. "No. Your teammate is not my liability." She stated and got up from the bar, taking her drink with her to follow Akane and meeting Remilia. Sarah stared at Jun for a few seconds, trying to determine what she was looking at with this murderous rage.
Without a word to the others, Sarah made her way toward Jun and deliberately bumped her left shoulder with her right. Sarah then looked directly at Jun, hoping to have gotten her attention. "I don't know what you're planning, but let me know if I need to seek assistance elsewhere. For right now, you seem intent to do something, and a Musashi is trying to fuck the person you showed us." Sarah said sternly. Her eyes followed Jun's toward the two on the opposite end of the room. "...and just what is so enraging?" Sarah asked. She saw on the report that Jun has a history with the Akiyamas, as did her family. So she had no idea about any tension between Jun and her family, since it appeared both of them had dealings with the entity hosting this event.
