"Thanks Haley. We'll handle this from here." Hammond and Terry went around the corner to see just who they were dealing with. They immediately saw why it was so obvious it was him. A slightly portly boy in a red sweater was lifting a photo to a locker, tape ready to keep it there. "Alright, hand it over. You're coming to the office with us." The student glanced between them and put his hands behind his back before seeing the badge in Hammond's hands. He glanced around before deciding on a plan. He lunged forward, planting his fist on Terry's nose before continuing past in the confusion. "Dammit! Haley, he's heading your way!" Hammond yelled right before the boy wheeled around the corner.
As soon as the suspect rounded the corner, he is met with a fast blow to the stomach that is sure to take him by surprise. While he would be reeling from the blow, he would see a short green-haired girl with long, dog-like ears. She had already prepared her punch in advance, oddly enough. "I've seen crime dramas, so I figured this would happen. The guilty person always runs away. Oh right, helping." Taking advantage of the situation the suspect was in, Haley turns and attempts to roundhouse kick him toward Terry and Hammond.
The portly boy doubled over when Haley's fist connected with his stomach. He staggered back, winded while she boasted. He recovered quickly and ducked her roundhouse kick. He drew his hand back and fire gathered in it, ready to sock Haley like he did Terry. Before he could strike, a shaken appeared in his wrist. He howled and the flames were doused like he had plunged his fist in ice. He turned to where Terry stood glowering. One hand covered his nose and the other held three more shaken. "I sur-" The second struck his knee and he fell, howling.
"Terry! Put those away!" Terry froze for a second before releasing the little blades. They drifted gently like leaves into one of of the pockets on his long coat. "Where was he going to run? Neither of you had to get violent." Terry uncovered his nose and looked at the blood in his hand. "I think he broke it." Hammond knelt to help the suspect up. "He didn't, and even if he did it doesn't mean you can throw weapons around in the hallway! Come on. We're taking you two to the nurse first." He let the limping kid lean on his shoulder. He didn't put cuffs on the suspect. He wasn't going to run in this state. "Haley, just... Dammit, Haley! You hitting him didn't help! I shouldn't have let Terry drag you into this. Go tell Adam we have a suspect in the infirmary and go to class."
Eyes widening at the shurikens striking his body, Haley was about to draw her swords to protect the suspect...until Hammond called Terry out on it before she could. She could already smell that both of them were bleeding, and that this whole operation may have gone sour due to Terry being overzealous. It was what Hammond said after he cuffed the suspect that now ticked her off.
"Hey! If it wasn't for me, you would have never found him this fast! And all I did was stop him from running away, it was his fault for actually drawing blood here. Don't start blaming me for this stuff!" Haley didn't like being accused of things she didn't have a hand in, and wasn't about to be dismissed like this.
"You still hit him! We had his face, so Adam could just teleport to him later. Things might not have gotten violent if you hadn't started swinging. Now get Adam!" Hammond snapped. Terry and the suspect were still bleeding and he was not in the mood for this.
"He's the one who swung first! Look at his nose! Ugh..." Turning around, Haley sprints off toward the guard office...then stops. "...I think he forgot we have modern technology now." Taking out her cell phone, Haley flips through her school handbook and calls the school's guard office. After informing the secretary of where they were and the situation, she hung up the phone and glared back in their general direction, now out of sight. "Hmph, not worth my time. I'm not needed, apparently." With a dismissive swish of her tail, Haley begins to head back to her next class...until an upperclassman dressed in regal white and gold attire teleports in a few feet away in the hallway. Giving her a smile, he walks up looks at Haley. "Excuse me, are you miss Midori, the one who just called the office? My name is Adam, I'm captain of the guard."
Nodding her head, Haley points to their general direction. "Yup, that's me. If you're looking for the three creeps, they are that way." Sensing some resentment coming from her, Adam smiles once again and puts his hand on her right shoulder. "Thanks for helping us investigate. We appreciate anyone willing to help find these delinquents." Taking his hand off her shoulder, Adam teleports to Terry and Hammond. Haley stares for a few seconds...then begins walking away, now in a much better mood after being thanked for her work.
Appearing next to the three, Adam's eyes widen slightly when he sees all the blood, and immediately casts a heal spell on both the suspect and Terry, showing them in a healing light that would heal their wounds. "I see things didn't go so smoothly here. Hammond, what happened here?"
Hammond jumped at Adam's sudden appearance. "Don't do that! Uh, sir." He tilted his hat respectfully. "The suspect punched Terry and ran. Haley hit him in the stomach and Terry overstepped his boundaries. He threw the two shaken you saw." Terry just looked away. "His name is Robert Schmitz." He gave Robert's wallet back, making sure to avoid looking at Hammond while he did.
Frowning slightly when he heard what Terry did, Adam makes a mental note to talk with these two after the suspect has been questioned. Glancing at Robert and taking note of his appearance, Adam looks back over at Hammond. "What reason do you have to suspect that Mr. Schmitz is linked to this investigation?" He asks, needing more information before he starts accusing another student.
Hammond pulled a photo and roll of tape from his pockets. "I took these from him. We found him putting the photo up, so his fingerprints should be on them. He also tried to run, like I said already." "And Haley smelled him on all the photos." Terry added. Hammond put the evidence away to be checked later. "However-" "I swear I didn't take them!" Robert yelled. "Just what I was about to say!" Hammond declared.
Taking in all the information, Adam studies Robert for a moment...judging what he should believe here. "So the only charge you wish to refute is the taking of the initial photos?" Hammond, Terry and Haley had already compiled enough evidence to take this student in for more questioning, but he needed more information now if the investigation were to go any further. Walking over to Robert, Adam adjusts his badge slightly, making sure that Robert was going to notice it's existence.
"If you aren't the one who took them, could you tell us who did? Possessing this material is a grave breach of rules...but if you help us out, we may be able to lessen the punishment you have to receive because of this. So, could you help us out?" The guard captain's voice was kind...but firm. He wanted to work with Robert to catch the real culprit, but had to deliver the message in a way that would entice him to cooperate with them.
Hammond's eyes were alight. "It was a guard, wasn't it!? Only they could enter a room with no key." He smiled triumphantly. Robert glanced between him and Adam. "Uh... I don't know what you're talking about, I did it." He looked away from everybody else in the room. "And not only a guard, but a friend." Hammond was marking all over his notes now.
A stocky asian girl with four ludicrously long tails of black hair reaching her thighs walked the hallways, making sure her notes were all in order. The halls were weirdly quiet. Maybe it was because of those pictures taken. She rounded the corner and nearly crashed into the slender figure leaning on the lockers. Alexis fixed her with a look that penetrated her soul. Jenifer realized it was the girl in the photos after a second and backed away slowly. "Uh, hi. Are you okay? I'm sorry about the photos."
Adam frowned at this revelation. Having a guard betraying the people they serve is a major breach of trust, a trust that Adam tried to build with people every day. Stepping in front of Robert, Adam looks him directly in the eyes. "Tell me, who is this friend? We need to find them as soon as possible, do you understand? The guard won't hurt them, but if we don't find him soon, other students may try to find him on their own. So please, tell us who took these photos."
In the back of his mind, Adam was regretting not putting more security measures on Alexis's dorm. If she was out and about, there's no doubt she'd try to harm the one who took these photos if she found out who did it. He needed to get to them first, at all costs.
Robert looked at his lap and sealed his lips tight. Hammond put his pen to his lips for a second, chewing on the end. "Adam, do we have records on stuff like this? Dirty photos passed around, consensually taken or not?" Terry smiled and lifted his tablet. "Already looked. Only two real incidents in the last five years. One of Nicole in the pool in her freshman year." Hammond shrugged. "I remember that. It seems unrelated. Nobody got into her room, she just stripped and got in. The other?" "Jenifer Slate. There was only one picture found and it never went public. It was just turned in." Terry showed the screen to Hammond and Adam, nudging Robert hard when he tried to lean around and look.
The photo clearly showed a robust Asian girl from behind, completely naked in front of a bathroom mirror, apparently doing her hair by the positioning of her hands. A towel lay not far away. "So it happened before. The perp just got bolder this time. And a guard turned it in!" Hammond's eyes lit up in excitement. Terry shook his head. "No. Anonymous student." Hammond sighed. "Greaaat. If he doesn't talk, do you have any other ideas, Adam?"
Alexis' glare became confused when Jenifer just apologized for her situation before hardening again. "Fuck off." Her breath made Jenifer feel like her face was melting. "I mean it though. It never got like this, but I've dealt with rumors." As this point she might just have to run and hope Alexis didn't feel like chasing. She took a step back. Damn these heels! Alexis looked right at her and tilted her head. "Rumors? About what?" Each word singed Jenifer's eyebrows. Mother of fuck, she just wanted to get to her job!
Putting his right hand to his face, Adam began slowly stroking his chin, trying to think of any kind of connection to the photo of Jennifer and this incident. An anonymous student turned it in? No...that wasn't right. Thinking back to that day, Adam remembers that they hired a guard on that day, and during the interview process, they mentioned that they were the one who turned the photo in. Adam had found that to be an admirable trait, and it certainly helped him get the job. But who was that guard...?
Widening his eyes slightly, Adam turns to Terry and Hammond. "I think I have an idea on who we can ask next. Robert, is your friend Tyrone?" As he said this, Adam carefully watches Robert's face to see any indication of recognizing the name.
Robert's eyes widened and he froze. Realizing his body language, he intensely shook his head. "No! No, he's not!" Hammond smiled in victory. "Looks like we have a lead. You can go talk to him. I'll be taking Mr. Schmitz in. And Mr. Tavere too I guess?" He motioned towards Terry.
"The ones about being a slut. Because I got lycanthropy, people say I put out." Jenifer's southern accent became more pronounced as she grew more upset. "Yeah, sucks. I had somebody lie about me once, just like that. Said I was begging for it." Alexis' glower became deeper, but she also looked weary. It didn't lessen Jenifer's fear. "Y-yeah, one guy did that to me too. Was all... touchy too." She shuddered just thinking of that horrible night. Alexis looked at the embarrassed girl. "Same for my date. I ignored it then cause I was into it, but I didn't let him in that night because Becky was sick. He came right in anyway and rumaged in my drawers! I think he even... took pictures." Her eyes lit up and the locker she rested on began to melt. Jenifer squealed in pain just being near her. A huge dog with long horns curving back stepped from the shadows. "Whiplash. Take me to Tyrone!" Into the shadows they vanished, leaving nothing but a fiery glare in Jenifer's eyes and a molten puddle of locker metal to prove they were once there. Jenifer mumbled and wondered if her rubbery outfit feeling melty was just in her imagination as she called the guards.
"Ok! Take them to the station, and use the map to meet me at Tyrone as soon as possible!" Adam calls out to Hammond, teleporting back to the guard station and hurriedly making his way over to the 3D holographic map of the school in the center of the room. After typing in Tyrone's name, a small red dot began flashing in a nearby hallway...with another dot labeled "Alexis Primrose" right next to it. Frowning his eyebrows, Adam takes note of the location and teleports to the scene, hopefully not too late by now.
Adam appeared in the middle of a firestorm. The hallway was so hot the lockers were going soft from just being there. Alexis stood in the middle, over Tyrone laying prone upon the ground, nose bleeding and crushed. He jumped back up and swung his mace. It was caught in an iron grip by Alexis and began to melt through her fingers. She ripped it from his hands and grabbed his arm in both hands, twisting sharply. With a sickening crack, it bended like no arm should and he fell to his knees, howling in agony. A fierce kick sent him sliding into Adam's feet, holding his now-obliterated ribs. Alexis lunged instantly in chase but her eyes widened and she anchored herself when she saw Adam. She looked at the blood on her white gloves and frowned. The heat lowered to a more feverish rate and she extended her arms for cuffs, tears beginning to flow.
"Alexis! Stop right now!" Adam yells at her, dashing forward and slapping a pair of power-cancelling cuffs on her for the second time that day. Neutralizing the threat, Adam quickly begins casting heal spells upon Tyrone, mending his wounds and rebuilding some of the damage Alexis had done to his bones. Once he was mostly healed, Adam quickly puts a pair of cuffs on his wrists as well, pulling Tyrone back onto his feet and holding both of their arms behind their backs.
"You are both under arrest. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. I will begin taking statements once we are back in the guard office." Still holding their hands, Adam teleports all three of them inside of the guard office, and hands Alexis over to Hammond, who is already at the office with Terry. "Watch Alexis, I need to get Tyrone's statement. Don't let her out of your sight." And with that, Adam leads Tyrone into a separate, smaller room with much plainer walls and a single table in the center with two chairs. Adam sets Tyrone down on the farthest chair, and sits in the one directly opposite of him. "Now...from the top. Why was Alexis attacking you?"
Unbeknownst to Hammond, Adam had taken the key to Alexis's cuffs with him. Alexis had already betrayed his trust once today, and he wasn't about to chance her stealing the key from Hammond.
Alexis didn't resist in the slightest, only covering her face with her hands and shuddering as she tried to keep her sobs silent. "What? She's the one who attacked me, boss!" Tyrone squirmed in his cuffs. When they teleported, she compliantly stood by Hammond. "What happened in there?" Hammond asked, but saw the look on Adam's face and simply took Alexis' arm, steering her over to a chair.
Tyrone followed Adam into the room, grumbling as he sat. "Because she's a crazy bitch? Does she need a reason?" He responded to the question, shrugging and gesturing with his hands as much as he could with cuffs on.
Staring directly into Tyrone's eyes, Adam places a photograph face down onto the table. "Tell the truth, Tyrone. I have known Miss. Primrose for years, and she doesn't just attack people like that outside the arena. That was an attack of passion." Sliding the photograph across the table to Tyrone, Adam watches him closely as he lets go of the photo. "Take a look at this. Does it seem familiar to you at all?"
