Alexis sneered. "And you have no friends besides Audrey there!" Ashlea had done it now. She gave Adam a shake of her head. "What, you want to help clean her up? Always the altruist." She advanced on Ashlea, glare intensifying. "Or maybe you could save my dear sweet sister from me."
___
Marigold swung her sword free when Emma leaned to the point where it no longer had any leverage on her. Fine, she'd bash her face with the pommel and- Emma's leg hooked her own before she could swing. Marigold froze in terror at the contact. It was far more and far longer than any other touch in the fight. Paralyzed so, she was easily toppled. She hit the ground hard, but the impact cleared her mind. She wasn't being touched anymore. She was okay. Emma would not be. Marigold was fully aware she couldn't kill people here, and that worked just fine for her, given her style was focused on the kill. She pointed her sword at the foe standing over her. and fired a beam of light right between her eyes.
___
"I am no wannabe! I am a future member of the school guard and one of two greatest investigators in the school! Walk away now and we won't be forced to report you." Well, if they weren't going to fight, that was a waste of a cool entrance. If Evan knew what was good for him, he'd be leaving and they wouldn't get to take him down. He had the feeling that would be a great point for the guard if Evan struck first. "Oh... and do not call Haley a bitch again." His glare was far harsher than for his own insult.

"What, you want to fight n-" "Now now...there is no need for an argument right now." Adam cuts Ashlea off before she can escalate the situation. Audrey smiles and pats Ashlea on the shoulder. "It's like he said, we shouldn't argue. First day back should be a time of rebuilding friendships, not breaking them down." The ice mage states, causing Ashlea to roll her eyes.
___
"Fucking damn it!" Emma yells as the light hits her eyes, causing her to go temporarily blind. She couldn't lose her position here, not now. Using her magic energy, a small pink bird appeared next to Emma's head and landed on her shoulder. Shaking off the light beam, Emma dives forward at Marigold, now much faster, and tries to launch a flurry of punches on her stomach.
___
Evan merely chuckled at Hammond's grandstanding. "That's cute! But she is a bitch, and you're all still chumps. Although..." Evan points his scythe at the trio. "I do have a right to defend myself against the abusive duo who launched a wind spell at me. They will know who struck first, after all." He threatens, grinning.
Haley looked at the bully, getting more pissed by the second. She absolutely hated being called a bitch, and then being told to stand aside. "I am not going anywhere. I will help you guys take this asshat down!" Drawing both of her daggers, Haley couldn't help but let a few growls escape as she faced Evan down.

Alexis threw Adam a glare. "Awfully rude of you to cut in on my fights. You need me to teach you a lesson?" Becky rolled her eyes and walked off. She would take a bath so Alexis would pay attention to her instead of stupid guards and sisters.
___
Marigold threw herself to her feet when Emma went reeling. She was surprised to see Emma's summon was so similar to her own. The potty mouth was also a surprise. She kept silent herself as she opened her hand, pooling light within her palm. "Tweet." The light erupted into a little golden bird just before Emma struck her stomach. The wind was swiftly driven out of her by the following barrage, making her double over. Her blank face didn't break, but her head spun as she gasped for air. She needed a break, or maybe a winning blow. Tweet flared like the sun for just an instant, hopefully providing her an instant of reprieve to make her move. She swiftly thrust her knife up at Emma's unarmored armpit, hoping to drive it deep and deal a crippling blow.
___
How tough was Evan, that he thought he could face three other students at once, even if one was a first year. "The wind was a mere tap on the shoulder to get your attention. You are a bully and we won't stand for it." Terry waved his hand and a dozen shurikens rose from his pockets on a gust of wind. "Now stop your bullying or we will be forced to intervene." Hammond gave him a quick look of mixed pride and annoyance. Normally he was the one who gave the speeches but that was pretty good. He had still wanted to do it though.
"We could have just let you off, or reported you, but if you're going to be aggressive, I think it's not going to go that way." Hammond put his hand on a short blade at his side. "Last chance, Evan."

Frowning at Alexis, Adam's tone gets slightly more serious. "Threatening a guard isn't wise, mrs. Primrose. I am only here to keep the peace. If you two want to fight, you should go to the arena where it's safer to do battle." Of course, he was referring to how in the arena, there are numerous magical enhancements in place that makes healing much faster, and impossible for someone to die in there. Even if they are reduced to atoms, the spell will put them back together as good as new.
Ashlea scoffs at the both of them, annoyed at Adam for cutting in and Alexis for ignoring her now. "Fine, I'll battle you later. Come on Audrey, let's go to the speech." With a huff, she begins walking towards the building. Audrey politely excuses herself and follows along, walking next to Ashlea. Audrey couldn't help but chuckle at Alexis and Adam's interaction.
---
Shielding her eyes from the bird apparently called Tweet, Emma notices Marigold coming in for the finishing blow. Using her increased speed given by her own bird, Emma pulls her arm down, causing Marigold's knife to piece it and cause her right arm to be pulled back and unable to strike. Luckily, Marigold was up close again...perfect. "Fist...of the Tiger!" Emma yells as she focuses her magic energy into her less dominant left fist, and tries to punch Marigold hard in the chest to knock her out. There was a faint red aura to the fist as it traveled, and a mild growl could be heard. Emma was getting tired fast, so she hoped this punch would connect and end things.
---
Making his scythe disappear, Evan clasps his hands together in horror. "Oh, why do you pick on me so? I am but merely a poor student, minding my own business, but then these two just hit me with a wind blast and try to report me! Oh woe is me, I am such a victim here. Someone call the guard!" Laughing to himself, Evan regains the smirk on his face. "Come on, do you really think I care? How about later, both of you come down to the arena and I can show you what a real fight looks like. You can even bring your pet along if you want."
Just before he disappears into the shadows, he throws a dog biscuit at Terry's head, and disappears.

Alexis snorted. "Ants are fun to stomp, but they get boring fast. I'll save the arena matches for people who are worth it. I promise I'll beat your smug face in one day." With a sadistic grin, she slipped away from Adam to find her friend. Becky must have gone to their room. Alexis better make sure the big dummy is presentable. How Becky had managed without her was anybody's guess, and she feared for her when she was on her own again. She'd probably just go live in the woods again. They she could handle.
___
Marigold realized she had lost when her blade got stuck in Emma's arm instead of twisting in her chest cavity. She couldn't withdraw fast enough to avoid the punishing blow. She felt it crush her breastbone in a shockwave that pulped her chest organs. She spat up blood as she went stumbling back, feeling bone shards dance in her heart. Her face was unchanging as she attempted to raise her sword regardless of any wound. The act was too much, and unbalanced, she feel flat on her back with a gurgle, lungs too shredded for a grunt upon impact. Her weapons stayed tightly in her hands even as her vision went black.
___
Hammond sneered at the challenge. "Bring it on! I won't even need Terry and Haley! I'm unshakable on my own!" He watched Evan vanish and walked up to the student he was tormenting. "You okay?" He asked as Terry looked at the dog biscuit that had landed in his hands after striking his head. "Do you actually like these?" He asked Haley, nothing but curiosity in the question.

Sighing to himself, Adam watches Alexis leave the area, then turns back to Kelsey, who seemed to be more annoyed at Alexis's behavior than Adam was. "She didn't seem to change much. Maybe we need to have a chat with h-" Before she could finish, the vice-captain's phone began to buzz. Taking it out, she observes the tiny red dot in the middle of a map of Gateway blinking. "Looks like we got a disturbance in the Azur commons room. I'll take this." Kelsey says, taking out a small notepad and flipping through the pages. Stopping at one of the last pages, she places her finger on one of the letters and disappears into a faint ray of blue light. She would soon reappear in the Azur commons room.
---
"Yatta!" Emma yelled as she landed the blow, watching Marigold fall to the floor. Just before her opponent hit the ground, however, Emma uses her enhanced speed to catch the fighter and gently set her down onto the floor. Normally she would be much more concerned for an opponent beaten to this state, but she knew that this arena was impossible to die in, and that there were spells in place to automatically rapidly heal participants. It was already working on herself, repairing her muscles and closing up the wounds Marigold had inflicted upon her. Kneeling down next to Marigold, Emma looks at her, waiting for her to wake up. "Hey...ya alright down there? Give it a minute, you'll be fine."
While there were spells to heal the fighters, that didn't mean that Emma herself was unharmed. On the contrary, the stab wounds hurt like hell, Emma was just great at gritting her teeth and fighting through pain.
---
Glaring at Terry, Haley walked over to him. "I am still mostly human, you know! These things are gross, you try taking a bite out of it." Snatching the dog biscuit from Terry, Haley angrily shoves it into her pocket to get rid of any more comments about it. In truth...she kinda liked them, and would munch on it once everyone was gone.
The student breaths a sigh of relief. Just a normal 1st year boy who didn't even know Evan. "T-thanks. Are you guys part of the guard or something?" He asks, curious.

The scene Kelly appeared in was almost comical. A burly and busty blonde girl in skimpy leather hugged a proper Japanese girl, tugging at her and trying to drag her outside. This was a futile task, as the Japanese girl had frozen her feet to the ground and simply stared vacantly as the larger girl tried to pry her off the floor.
___
Marigold slowly blinked her eyes open. "Ow." Her insides solidifying again actually felt worse than them getting smashed. "You win." She liked Emma more now she had proven herself a worthy opponent. Marigold wanted to fight her again when she got stronger. She sat up and noticed the blood she had spat up all over her coat. "No." She pulled out the coat to stare at the stains.
___
Terry shrugged when Haley snatched the biscuit. Hammond puffed out his chest in front of the first year. "We will be. For now, we are just-" "He knows. You've already said it." Terry interrupted Hammond's bragging. "Uh, yeah. Anyway, we should all get going to the auditorium if we want good seats." Hammond deflated a little and tried to change the topic.

Raising her eyebrow at the situation, Kelsey moved closer to the two of them. "Halt...whatever it is you are doing. Vice Captain Kelsey here, I heard there was a disturbance in this room. What seems to be the problem?"
---
"Yeah! Great fight back there. I'd love to fight you again somet-" Noticing that Marigold was staring at her blood stained coat, Emma scratches the back of her head. "Er...sorry about that. But hey, there is a station here that can get blood out of your clothes! Want me to show you?"
Emma offered her hand to Marigold to help her up.
---
Shaking her head, Haley snickers slightly at Terry shooting down Hammond like that. "What he said. We wouldn't want you to deflate like that again." Laughing a little bit more, Haley swishes her tail behind her as she slowly makes her way to the auditorium, seeing if the two of them would follow her or not. The first year simply thanks the two of them, and walks off in another direction toward the auditorium.

The scantily clad blonde flipped Kelsey off. "None of your business." She spat. The Japanese girl didn't agree. "This girl showed up and began to manhandle me. She insists I attend the Headmaster's speech with her." "Call me by my name, Kasume!" "I don't know you. Kindly don't refer to me so casually." Kasume attempted giving Kelsey a look that was both blank and pleading for help.
___
Marigold looked up from her coat into Emma's eyes. "Good. Thank you." She blinked back the tears that had been building. She hopped to her feet with no wasted motion and gave Emma a swift bow. "I'm glad my fighting skills are up to par."
___
Hammond slouched down and took a surly look. "No need to take her side..." He grumbled. Terry just grinned and took his hat off, rubbing his hair. "Don't be like that. You can show how good you are against Evan later." Hammond reluctantly grinned. "Yeah, you're right. Haley, wait up!" The two jogged to her side. "Mind if we sit by you?" Hammond asked, trying to fix his ruffled hair.

Frowning her face, Kelsey casts a small levitation spell on the blonde girl, moves her hand up to pick her off the ground, and lightly place her down a few feet away from Kasume. "If someone doesn't know you, refrain from trying to manhandle them. Now...two things. One, don't flip off an officer if you don't want disciplinary action to be taken. Two, that outfit is not up to regulation." Looking over the girl's leather outfit, Kelsey looks back at her face. "Before you head out, I need you to put on an appropriate outfit. If you refuse, you will be ejected from the speech."
---
"Yeah, no problem! You fought great!" Looking back at her watch, Emma's eyes grow wide for a second. "Crap! It's almost time for the speech! Want to come with me, or do you already have people to sit by?"
---
Grinning back at the two, Haley laughs slightly. "Sure, go right ahead. Though...aren't you guys in a higher class than me? I haven't been here long, but you two must have some other friends!"

Erin Pender, local rebel, thrashed and yelled as she was lifted by Kelsey's spell. "Hey! Keep your magic hands off me!" When she was put down, she huffily brushed herself off and stomped. As she once again lifted her middle finger, Kasume thawed her feet out and bowed. "Thank you, guard-san." Erin glowered when Kelsey kept speaking. "Kasume's my best friend! She's lying about not knowing me because she can be a stuffy little bitch of a twig sometimes. And who says I want to go to that stuffy speech anyway?"
___
Marigold shook her head with odd precision. "I don't know anybody else. Do I have time to clean off." She was still slightly depressed by the blood on her coat. Not to mention they were both a touch sweaty. Although oddly enough, the dampness seemed to be leaving her. She wasn't going to sniff, but she was willing to bet whatever spell was cleaning her was helping with that too. She didn't care honestly. She just wanted her coat clean.
___
Terry shrugged in response to Haley's inquiry about their other friends. "We mostly hang out together. I have some internet friends though, and Hammond has friends at his Synagogue. We share some in the guard." Hammond smiled. "He means he tolerates a few friends of mine in the guard."

"You said you wanted to go to the speech with her, did you not? Either way, you need to adhere to the dress code if you don't want to have a chat with us again. Do wear something more appropriate before you leave this room." Turning to Kasume, Kelsey nods her head. "No problem, my name is Kelsey, by the way. Do you need me to send this woman away to make her stop bothering you?"
---
Placing her hands on her hips, Emma points to a small station at the side of the arena. "That's where you can get the blood off your coat. Don't worry about sweat or being smelly, there's a spell here that takes care of both. Come on, we're going to be late!" Lightly motioning for Marigold to move, Emma begins making her way to the station.
---
"Hoooh? Friends in the guard? So that makes you, what, honorary guards or somethi-wait." Sniffing the air for a few seconds, Haley grows a small smirk across her face. "Heh heh heh...looks like this speech is going to be fun after all."

Erin just glowered at the ground. "Well I wanted to go with her." She grumpily mumbled. Kasume kept her face blank. "I don't want to cause trouble, but I think you might have to to avoid any." Erin gave her a hurt look, but Kasume looked away, refusing to acknowledge her.
___
Marigold gave Emma the most grateful look she could manage without breaking the brick wall between her emotions and the world. She took off at full speed for the station, desperate to clean her coat off. Emma could wait.
___
Hammond's pride returned a little. "Pretty much. But we can't do anything official until we join them." Terry glanced around when Haley sniffed something he apparently couldn't see. "Why? Do you smell a friend of yours?"

Looking at the two of them with a mildly confused face, Kelsey looks at Erin and concentrates for a second. "Very well. Please refrain from assaulting this woman in the future." And with that, Erin is teleported to a hallway just outside of the Zhenfeng house. Kelsey had saw that Erin was a part of that house on the map she looked at, so it was natural to put her back there.
Glancing back at Kasume, Kelsey begins again. "I have teleported her to her house. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"
---
Both of them arrive at the station, and a bored-looking 4th year sat there, staring at the fights. "Hey, bub! We need you to get rid of this blood, pronto!" Emma calls out at him, as if she had talked with him many times. With a small groan, the 4th year waves what appeares to be a wand at both of them, and the blood began to shrink almost instantly into a small dot, which is lifted off of their clothing and vanishes. "There. You know, you should really consider not wearing bright colors." He says, looking at Emma. Emma only scoffs at him, and begins walking away. "I wear what I want!"
---
"You have no idea. Let's just say I'm not the only amazing one with ears and a tail here." Haley boasts, instantly knowing the scent. Lindsey Stark, a year 3 kitsune girl who was a master prankster. Haley thought about joining her, but that would likely mess up her plans, so she decided against it. "So, what do you two do for fun around here?" Haley asks as they neared the auditorium.

"No mam. I'll be going to the speech now." Kasume bowed and walked away. Just an instant after she left, a handsome young man walked in. His black hair was spiky and just a bit shaggy, a few strands falling across his fiery red eyes. He wore a reasonably expensive suit topped by his signature fire-patterned scarf. "Hello, Kel. I heard there was a commotion. I miss it?"
___
Marigold watched the blood vanish on her shirt with wide eyes. When it was fully clear, she bounced and her eyes visibly lit up. "Thank you." She said, both to Emma and the cleaner. She followed Emma, almost visibly cheerful. When Emma declared that she wore what she want, Marigold tilted her head. "I wear my coat."
___
Hammond glanced to Terry when Haley mentioned others like her. Terry shrugged. "Lindsey maybe?" Hammond made a face at the thought of that troublemaker and turned back to Haley. "Well on average days, I play some games, and Terry's a bookworm. Then there's the arena. And once in a while we go out on the town. There's a theater and stuff. Pretty much whatever you'd need or want in town."

"Ok, let us know if you need help again!" Kelsey tells Kasume as she leaves. Well, that was an easy conflict to resolve. Perhaps there was more to that story...and at that moment, her thoughts are interrupted by a male walking into the room. "Yeah, you missed it alright. Some girl dressed in what looked like a leather bikini was annoying another girl. But I sent her away and told her to change. Did you have to resolve anything today?"
---
Emma glanced at Marigold, raising her eyebrow slightly. What was this girl talking about? "That's...nice. So, want to see the speech with me? I'm headed there right now."
---
Haley nodded her head at Hammond, thinking of what stuff she'd be interested in. Town seemed rather fun, especially if there were shops that sold magical stuff. It was so nice being in a town with non-anthropomorphs that she could freely walk around in, without needing to constantly recast her illusion magic. Finally arriving at the auditorium, Haley looks around at the massive crowd of people.
The auditorium was absolutely massive, stretching 5 floors in height and one large wooden stage on the far end. Students from all years sat in their seats, or stood against the railings in the upper floors. A few members of the guard were standing at the entrances, directing people to open seats and answering any questions the younger students may have. The front row was already filled with chattering students, and a flight of stairs were to their right and left. "So...know of any good spots to watch this thing at?"

"Oh, Erin Pender. Yeah, she did that graffiti last semester. At least five times." Tyrone shrugged and smiled at his superior. "Nope. It's been good today. Everybody's just settling in and getting ready to the speech. Speaking of which, you need an escort there?"
___
Marigold nodded when Emma asked her if she wanted to go to the speech with her. "I already said yes." This girl's mind lacked discipline.
___
Terry and Hammond glanced around the room, muttering among themselves for a second. After a quick argument, they turned back to Haley. "I want the balcony, but Terry prefers the middle rows. You're the tie breaker." Hammond sounded weary, like they had had this argument millions of times.
|

Rolling her eyes, Kelsey glances at Tyrone. "Sure. I could use an escort against all the terrifying sculptures and ambient lighting around this place. I think I even saw a mouse hole once!" Putting her joking aside, Kelsey casually begins to stroll out of the room, seeing if Tyrone would follow her or not.
---
"I know you did. I was prompting you, smartass." Emma said jokingly, prodding Marigold along. Man, this girl was going to be hard to talk to if she spoke this little. Maybe she'll open up later if they become friends.
Stepping out into the hallway, Emma begins to casually sweep people aside with her right hand, moving towards the crowded auditorium doors.
---
Reacting instantly, Haley perks up. "The balcony, by far. Who wants to sit in the complete middle of a row of smelly people? I have much better smelling than you guys, you know." Sweeping her tail to the side, Haley leaps forward with almost inhuman grace and lands on the 5th step up right staircase. Wrapping her tail around the banister, Haley leans forward without holding onto anything and looks at the two of them. "Coming?"
---
High above the auditorium's top floor, the faint sound of a person sprinting could be heard below the loud chatter of the students and faculty. Skidding to a stop at the railing, a student with long, fox-like ears grinned at the work she'd done in front of herself. This was going to be amazing. No guard would ever come all the way up here.

Tyrone did of course follow Kelsey. They were heading the same direction anyway. It wasn't long before he started hearing a familiar voice around the corner. "No! Go away!" Two familiar voices. They rounded the corner to see Alexis and Becky, the later in clean clothes with soaked hair, the Zemletreus rugby captain cheerfully walking off. "Still not a fan of Eckart?" "He's annoying." "Hey, I'd date him." "I did. He's bad." "I still think you're overreacting. He only has eyes for you. He- YOU!" Alexis noticed Tyrone and her friendly face degenerated into a hateful glare.
___
Marigold hesitantly nodded. She had no idea what Emma was talking about. Were all girls her age like this? She darted forward to enter the auditorium first. Her assassin's instincts called for the balcony, where she could keep an eye on the whole room. "Let's go up." She said as she held the door open for Emma.
___
Hammond grinned. "Excellent choice. Come on Terry, Haley." Terry shrugged and let Hammond drag him up the stairs. "So, are people just smelly to you?" He asked Haley, curiosity once more piqued.

Kelsey was about to prod the two to start heading to the speech as well...until Alexis saw Tyrone and began glaring at him. Did these two have some sort of history? Giving both of them a puzzled look, the vice captain carefully makes her way between the two to prevent a potential fight. "It sounds like you know my current partner. What is the issue here, Alexis?"
---
"Sure, let's go!" Emma beamed, walking through the open door and darting up the stairs, seeing if Marigold would keep up. Up on the top floor, Lindsey notices the two beginning to approach, and carefully begins to hide her work from plain sight. Once it was out of the way, she casually leaned against the railing, dropping her illusion to reveal her tall kitsune ears and 9 long fox tails. She patiently fanned herself with 2 of her tails, waiting for the speech to start.
---
"Not all of them, just most people. You wouldn't believe the stuff I can smell on people that you guys just don't notice. Like...take him for example." Haley subtly points to a guy lazily leaning against the railing. "I can smell an overwhelming about of body spray on him, but mixed in with the smell of sweat and BO. So he obviously didn't even shower these past two days, and is trying to mask it with body spray. As for you two..."
Haley hangs back for a second and smells the air around Terry. "You still smell like book pages, but also a fruity hair conditioner. You don't seem to smell too bad otherwise...unlike most people. Seriously, I had to almost hold my nose at orientation because everyone around me smelled like an ogre's butt!"
