Martha made a big fake smile. "See, that was cool! It's not so bad..." She went quiet for a long moment. "I'm sorry... it's not so bad here, honest. We'll protect you. I can be like your big sister! And Yuu's a good cook." Tears were beginning to run down her face. "But the important part is you won't die, okay? If I can keep her from killing you everything is okay!" She grabbed Kate and hugged her tight.

Martha pulled Kate into a tight hug, though Kate was too overwhelmed by emotion to care at this point. She knew there was no way Marika could be stopped. Looking up, Kate could only mutter a few words in response. "Can...can you really promise that? I just want to go back..." All of this was overwhelming. She had to get out of here before Marika decided to kill her! Meanwhile, Haven overheard the conversation from the other side of the stairs and pondered slightly...there must be a way to help this kid out.

"I promise." Martha held Kate tight. "I promise I promise I promise." Martha said as tears overflowed. She meant it, but how to protect Kate seemed an impossible question to answer.
Outside, a hand suddenly appeared on Haven's shoulder. Warm like a living being. Bigger than Marika's or Ash's. "Haven, weren't you getting ready to show everybody that new song? The one you'll have them all listen to at 12. With the door closed. You know, block out the noise. And of course Miles and Marika hate that stuff."

The kidnap victim continued to sob into Martha's shoulder, not even able to speak at this point with how hopeless her situation felt. This was it; she was going to be sliced apart and never see her mother, sister or friends ever again...everything she ever cared about just...disappearing. She did find it comforting to have someone willing to share in her sadness though...as it made the situation slightly more bearable emotionally.
Upstairs, Haven listened to the person talking to him and nodded. "Right, that song. I'll be sure to gather everyone in the soundproof room. Though, I am sure you have many other responsibilities to attend to, right?" He asked as he looked directly at the figure. The plan was finally set into motion.
---
A few hours later...
"Haha! Draw two!" Ash exclaimed as she placed a blue draw 2 card onto the pile, Kate smirking and placing a yellow draw 2 on the pile. "Nope! Draw four! Uno!" Kate exclaimed as Ash reluctantly took 4 cards off the deck. Ash had been ordered to watch the prisoner after Martha left, and she figured bringing a few games down would lessen the boredom for both of them. Besides; who wouldn't want to play with the perfect person?!

There was a knock on the door before it opened. Slowly down the stairs came Yuu, glancing behind herself every few steps. "I hope you're not too busy, Ash. I have something I need you to do." A faint smile touched her lips. "You see, when Miles came here, he was so bright and energetic. But I think he's gotten soft and complacent. I only want the best for Marika you know, so he'll need some workouts. And who better to train him than you? You're perfect after all." Yuu put her hands on Ash's shoulders, looking into her eyes. "Of course, it's too late for him to join you in a normal workout, so instead you'll have to tell him that Marika's been kidnapped. Use my door. It's opened to a nice big highway in the desert, perfect for a jog." Yuu gave Ash her own kaspa key so she could get back in without moving her own kaspa door.

Ash listened as Yuu talked to her, perking up when Yuu called her 'perfect'. Finally someone around here recognized her perfection! Dropping her cards and standing up triumphantly, Ash poses proudly with her hands on her hips and looking up at the ceiling. "Very well! I shall make scrawny person into a shining example of fitness, though he will never be perfect like me!" The loud doll took Yuu's kaspa key and bolted up the stairs. She quickly reached Miles's room and burst open through the door, dashing forward as Miles was dead asleep in his bed. "Wake up, sleepy head! Marika's been kidnapped and you need to save her! Follow me!" And with that, she grabbed the still half-asleep Miles by the wrist and drug him out of bed, almost dragging him across the floor and into Yuu's portal where they both began to jog across the desert...Miles still looking around in bewilderment. "Huh...kidnapped...? Will save..." Miles groggily said as the two made their way through the landscape.
Back in the basement, Kate looked up at the black-haired woman and placed her last card onto the floor. "Erm...who are you...?" Kate asks, backing away slightly after seeing the creepy smile Yuu had on her face as she told Ash to leave. Was this person going to kill her now?!

Yuu's smile became softer when she approached Kate. "Hello. Are you alright? No injuries?" Her hands were gentle as she turned Kate's arms over to look for bruises. She pulled Kate to her feet and pointed to the stairs. "In one minute, go outside. Take the purple door. And take this." Yuu wrapped Kate in a thick coat, much too big for her but comfortably warm. She backed away and jogged up the stairs, stopping to glance both ways at the top.

"Huh...uh...no, I'm not injured..." Just what was going on here? Was this lady actually helping her?! The thick coat led her to believe that this was someone wanting to help...why would someone want to trick her when they have already captured herself? "Um...ok...thanks?" Kate had no idea how to process this situation. First Martha came down and said she couldn't help...but now this lady is able to? Kate's suspicion was only growing from here, but regardless, it was still her best ticket out of here.
30...29...28...
Each second seemed to take forever to pass by. The thick coat was slowly increasing Kate's body temperature in the already-warm room, but she didn't dare take it off. She hurridly went to the shelf and pulled out her backpack, relieved to see her soccer uniform was still inside...but not her DS, wallet or keys. Granted; she only had a few dollars in the wallet, and nothing particularly sensitive like a driver's license that would take time to recover. Zipping up the bag, Kate pulled it over her shoulders and stood at the base of the stairs.
5...4...3...2...1...
And with that, Kate crept up the stairs and peeked around the corner to search for anyone nearby. Purple door? Where would one of those be...?

The living room Kate stepped into was huge, clearly made to held a huge amount of individuals, purple couches at odd angles to the huge flatscreen in the center of the wall. The floor didn't even creak under thick shag carpeting, a vibrantly vile acid green. One way she could see the opening to a dining room with an oversized table with a royal blue tablecloth. Just a few feet in the other direction the wall cut off in a corner, around which was the most oversized area of all, a entrance room.
The far wall was massive and curved outwards, riddled with dozens of doors, a good chunk of the ones on the right grey and slapped with labels. Besides the doors was an empty white hat rack, on closer inspection made of bones, and a thankfully normal looking shelf for shoes. But right there in the middle was what she was looking for, a purple door. But before she could move towards it, noise came from the hallway. There were more colorful doors there, and out of one so pale a blue it was nearly white came Martha. She cluelessly walked towards a similarly colored door on the wall before suddenly jerking to a hall. Her smile vanished as she turned to find Kate from the corner of her eye. "No... kid, go back to the basement..."

The appearance of the living area surprised Kate the most; just how many people lived here?! There were enough seats to fit 3x as many people that she's already seen in this place. But before Kate could jog toward the purple door...the lady from before stepped out of her own door(supposedly) and spotted the escapee.
"I-I-I can't! I need to get out!" Kate said quietly, grabbing a nearby snowglobe off the shelf and beginning to subtly upgrade it in her hands. She knew the smell of these things was horrible if cracked...so if upgraded, this would be almost unbearable. At least...she hoped. Kate slowly crept toward the door, continuing to upgrade the snow globe in her right hand.

"But I can't let you escape, Kate! It's gonna make me hurt you!" Martha slipped against her will into a fighting stance. "Go back!" She yelled as she pushed off the ground, rushing right for Kate with a fist ready to pummel the air out of her lungs. "Please go back, Kate."

The sheer speed of Martha surprised Kate...but she had already upgraded the snowglobe as much as she could. "I...I'm sorry!" Kate says as she ducks down to avoid the blow and tosses the snowglobe directly at Martha's chest with enough force to shatter the glass. Should it connect, Martha would experience severe sensory-overload of foul smelling gas that would soak into her shirt via the liquid in the globe. Kate takes this opportunity to grab a nearby blanket and toss it over Martha's head while she's blinded by the smell, hoping to score an extra few seconds as she bolts toward the purple door.

"Huh? GAH!" Martha's gagging was oddly earsplitting as she reeled away from Kate. It only lasted for a second before Martha suddenly stopped, grabbing the blanket out of the air before it could cover her face. She whipped out her hand for Kate's wrist and sought to throw her back at the couches, not a whisper of breath leaving or entering her lungs now.

"Wha-" Kate's eyes widen in shock as her wrist was caught and her body thrown into the nearby couch along the wall. The impact wasn't particularly painful, though the fact that Martha seemed to be unaffected by the horrid gas of the broken snowglobe was concerning. "How...what?!" Kate asked in confusion, frantically looking around the room for anything to fight with. Her gaze quickly fixed on a small red lighter sitting on a coffee table next to the couch, which Kate hurriedly grabbed and began upgrading. The butane inside began to grow more compact and explosive as Kate upgraded the material inside.
"I'm...I'm really sorry." Kate said as she pointed the lighter at Martha, ready to click the button at the end and unleash hell upon the loud fighter.

Martha hesitated when Kate pointed the lighter at her. She now understood just what Kate could do and she didn't like the looks of that. Fire was one of the few things that could kill a doll. After a moment of thought, she rushed to the side and vanished from sight. She briefly came into view again at the far end of the room and vanished again, showing up at the doors. Running faster than the human eye could pick up, she darted around the room to keep Kate guessing about where she'd come from. She was totally gone for a second when she suddenly dropped from above, axe kick seeking to smash the lighter right out of Kate's hands.

Martha's immense speed made Kate sweat with even more nervousness than she had before. How was she supposed to keep up with this?! Kate had no time to react when Martha's leg came crashing down and shattered the lighter in her hands, causing the enhanced butane inside to ignite and explode near the both of them. Kate was sent sprawling to the grounds, her hands and upper arms now covered in burn marks that stung greatly. "Owwww!" Kate whined as she glared at Martha, diving forward and grabbing the leg Martha didn't use to kick and began to degrade it away. Martha's skin and bone should begin to rot away within seconds, Kate wanting to immobilize this girl so she couldn't follow her through one of these portals.

Martha's leg ignited at once and she fell away shaking it. She didn't have time to recover before Kate grabbed her other leg. She tried to kick Kate off, but bile rose in her throat when her entire leg came off and flew away, likely with Kate still attached. She teetered for a second before dropping, hitting her face on the center table before hitting the ground. She shrieked in pain as the flames spread, but she still crawled towards Kate, grasping for her legs.

As Martha's leg flew off her body, Kate held on for dear life and was tossed to the far end of the portal room, still clutching the leg. "...AH!" Kate shrieked in surprise at the leg in her arms and tossed it across the room. I appeared as if Martha was immobile now...but the fire was still spreading. Opening her backpack, Kate took out her plastic water bottle she uses for soccer practice and began to upgrade it, pressurizing the water inside. After a few seconds, Kate opens the top and squeezes the bottle, sending an unexpectedly large stream of water straight at Martha's leg that was on fire.
"I...I'm sorry again!" Kate said as she put the empty water bottle into her pocket and ran toward Haven's portal.

Martha was pushed back by the stream of water's force, sending her tumbling away. At her slow crawl, she couldn't catch back up to Kate by the time she reached the door. Unfortunately for Kate, she didn't have to. A stony head leaned out of a brown door and turned down at Martha on the floor, then up at Kate. With a few massive strides, a earthen giant was standing in front of the exits. She fell into a sitting position, shaking the entire kaspa, and held out a hand for Kate to run into.

"Wha...who are...who are you?!" Kate stammered out as the massive golem emerged from a portal and blocked her way. Was this another doll?! And of course the one made of rock comes out after she had already used up her water bottle! "W-well...I have to g-get past!" Kate states as she picks up a leg of the coffee table Martha had broken and dipped it into the small fire on the carpet, lighting the leg on fire as Kate began to upgrade it. The flame grew 5x in intensity within seconds, burning red-hot at the edge. "Just g-get out of the way!" Kate demands weakly, now realizing trying to use fire against a rock giant was a bad idea.
