The path was long and winding path moved through the dense flora of the swamp like a snake coiled around the trees, curves and curves always following the safest ground, with the least humidity, quite the feat to do by only scouting at night. Riku kept guiding them with ease, as he had followed this path many times during his morning jogging, he even pointed out dangerous spots. -You should keep away from this side for 20 mts it might sink if we put too much weight.- Or further beyond he alerted them about another complicated portion of the path. -Avoid the wooden planks, they might look safer but most of then are rotten and will cause you to slip and if you fall to the water isn't going to be nice.- Even with his low and raspy voice, it could be notice a faint, almost minimum note of kindness behind Riku, yet it wasn’t big enough for anybody, except the most emphatic people to realize.
Shikishima was closing the line moving on a personal levitation disk he fashioned by modifying some telekinetic repulsors of a weapon he crafted. He could’ve easily made more but he didn’t want to put the work for the Dolls or Marika.
-You might get a better armor or something else.- Ikari stood up, still keeping his armor on, never lowering his guard. -My interest is in activating the medals, if you can do it then you can keep it and after our fight I think you have what it takes.- The Knight of Hatred moved closer. -You will end up with immense power and I’ll have what I came to do, so is a Win/Win situation for both of us.- The Renegade Agent extended his hand. -Could you lend me your medal so I can activate it?-

Josefina moved surprisingly lightly for her size. It wasn't actual weight- Josefina was as massive as she looked. She just manipulated the earth beneath her feet to hold her weight and make less sound. The other dolls needed more care, grateful for Riku's advice. Only Jane noticed his inklings of compassion but didn't voice them. He'd probably just deny it. She knew his type. Marika had given them all one of her threads to hold, as strong as steel, chaining them all in a line so that if one fell the others could tug her out at once. Sidney, tagging along in back, eyed the floating disk with envy. "Heyyyyyyyy, conehead. What's a girl gotta do for one of those?" She spoke in a slow drawl, not really accented, just utterly relaxed.
Ron stared at Ikari for a few silent seconds. He didn't trust the monstrous man. Of course he didn't. He just got done snapping half the bones in Ron's torso. But this option was better than the others. Ron's armor slid back into his body, leaving him in just his carapace. He shuddered deeply. The armor wasn't much insulation, but it was better than what was effectively a skintight suit. The medal fell out when the armor holding it fled back into his body, sinking into the pine needles beside him like it was hiding from Ikari's medal. "Take it." He rasped, grasping for the medal and tossing it at the armored knightmare.

-You should have at least a couple of doctorates in applied physics and engineering, then you should also buy the raw materials to craft your own telekinetic arrays to modify them into an constant yet controlled output of energy with an advanced AI guiding the regulation of their force against the floor depending on the closeness of said floor to allow smooth levitations without any sudden shifts in balance.- Shikishima talked out a storm, words coming out his mouth like bullets from a machinegun. In fact he talked so much and continued talking, using words few people in the world ever heard much less understand that when he ended up his long and winded explanation the group had already arrived to the gateway of the Complex, hopefully all the group as after such cacophonic experience some might have considered using their newly acquired weapons to end their misery.
Riku lowered the heavy luggage and started building up a smaller tent that would surely serve as their lifeline with the exterior and a comm center. He pierced the stakes into the ruined concrete using his Fighting Spirit charged fist. The concrete runway turned into a small and quite cracked bridge over a deep artificial moat, surely created to block any possible floods, the bricks underneath the concrete could be seen on several spots where the cement had cracked and fallen apart after years of abuse from the elements and total lack of maintenance. Bindweed had taken over most of the visible parts of the structure, than unlike the moat seemed quite intact, following the wise words that things in the old days were made to last. The aforementioned bridge turned into a pathway that sunk into a hill flanked by two vegetation covered walls and ended blocked by a gigantic rusted door, still quite formidable but with some noticeable weak spots, more damaged by the elements than the others.
Shikishima turned off his platform and descended right besides the tent that Riku had already prepared for him. -Well we arrived to the entrance, I’ll remain here until the path to our objective is clear and I will serve as your intel using several cameras and drones that Urnas so cleverly sneaked into the building, he is inside scouting the deeper parts.- Shikishima cracked his back and fingers at the same time stretching his interlaced fingers forward while his back curved. -First goal in our expedition is to open this door without causing a ruckus that would attract rowdy ruffians to our locations and alert the whole complex.- He glanced around at Marika and her dolls. -Do any of your creations have any kind of utility built in for this situation?- Once again showing a clear, yet dispassionate, disdain for the Dolls sentience. Riku didn’t even care about the conversation, as he plugged the equipment into the generator he had been carrying since camp.
Ikari smiled underneath the wolfish mask, with a wolfish smirk of satisfaction. His clawed and reinforced fingers grasped the medal mid-air closing his fist around it. For a moment nothing happened, until the Armored Knightmare summoned his own power. Deep purple flames flocked from all around the surface of the armor into his fist, like lines of flaming ants walking up the shiny surface of the Hatred Armor. -You better grab hold of something.- Ikari instructed as slowly and methodically he allowed his flames to reach the medal. -This might get dangerous.- The first blaze reached the golden surface of the Gainen Medal of Peace and it was all it needed to awaken. A pulse came out from it, barely audible, but it was quickly followed by another one, louder and worryingly visible, like an sphere of distortion with the medal as it epicenter.
The third pulse was larger and louder, strong enough to push the snow around them into makeshift walls circling their position. Ikari’s hand trembled as it was containing the worst effects of the Medal awakening, unlike last time, when he activated Poison, which was child play, this time around he was battling against a Gainen almost as highly ranked as his own. The fourth pulse cracked the permafrost ground beneath them and white lights filtered through the Knight of Hatred’s armored fingers. This new luminescence started swallowing up the sinister purple glow of Hate, but as soon as this started happening Ikari roared and his whole body bursted into flames dyeing the whole tundra with the pernicious radiance of his medal. -AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!- The white light was choked by Ikari’s burning Hatred. The pulses slowly became weaker and softer until they stopped completely.
Ikari opened his fingers, the armor was totally cracked but the medal was awake and contained, glowing on short intervals with an alabaster light. -Pick it up and call upon the name that comes into your mind when you do... Then you will know true power...- Thankfully Ikari’s helmet was able to hide the fact he was really tired after activating the Medal.

Sidney listened to the mad rambler's explanation with about as much enthusiasm as could be expected. When they finally arrived as his lecture ended, she rolled her shoulders. "I mean I could do that. Or I could just kick you off and take it." She immediately turned away, making it not come across as a threat but merely a statement of what she could do with a quiet confidence. Josefina paused on the edge of the moat, not certain about the bridge before her. Martha ventured past and found it steady enough, quickly darting up to the doors to await the others.
"Oh, we don't need any fancy tools for something this simple. Jane!" Marika yelled and shoved the smallest doll at the door. She stumbled up to it and looked over it. This should be pretty easy. Nothing so load bearing as a wall. She pulled her heated gloves off her hands and stuffed them into her pockets, immediately feeling the nip of their absence. "Okay everybody, stand back!" Jane warned as blue foam began spraying from her hands like a hose. She sprayed low on the doors, making sure she wouldn't have heavy chunks falling off and making a racket.
The foam instantly got to work, turning the rusted steel into a brown sludge on the ground. Within a minute, there was a gaping hole in the doors, big enough Josefina could get in if she ducked. "Done! Don't step in the goo, you'll lose your shoes." She gave a warning as she backed away from the door into Martha's protective arms. Yuu cautiously ventured across the bridge and looked beyond the doors. She had the strongest night vision of anybody here she was pretty sure, so if there was something to be seen, she would be the most likely to see it. "Hah! Even Jane's useful! My work is wonderful, isn't it? The stuff doesn't touch anything living, but it melts the crap out of pretty much anything else." Marika gloated to Shikishima.
"Dangerous? Dangerous how?" Ron grumbled, but Ikari's flames were already pouring into the medal. The pulses began and before he knew it, the third pushed him off his feet again, making him land hard on already broken ribs. He saw but didn't understand the battle of lights. He could guess that was Ikari containing the power source. Was this like like a nuclear reactor? Great power but if you fucked up you annihilated a city? He figured that was about right when he saw Ikari's cracked gauntlets. Something that could challenge the guy who totaled him? He hesitated just a moment reaching out for it. He still didn't trust Ikari or this power, but taking it was the safer option. And besides... he had to know.
The instant his gloved fingers met it, there was a single word that rushed to his lips. "Lost..." At once, white smoke sprayed outwards from the medal. Ron expected to cough, but instead he just felt dampness. Fog, not smoke He realized. The mist hissed out of the medal, gathering in a thick cloud over their heads. There was soon an ample cloud and something began to solidify within. A humanoid figure, levitating in a lotus position. It was difficult to see in the fog, but Ron could pick out some features. It was gangly, slender. Short torso, long limbs. It appeared to have no toes, just a fused mass of foot where its legs met. Its entangled fingers were normal looking at the level of detail he could see, but Ron was pretty sure there were six on each hand. It seemed to be wearing a hood from which empty blue eyes stared. Slowly it turned its head towards Ron, looking at him blankly.
Ron looked up at the odd creature. Perhaps it would make more sense if he could see it better. He manifested his helmet and the eyes flared red again, granting him his night vision. The being came into much clearer focus, but it didn't exactly make more sense. The feet that Ron read as one big mass were actually flexible toes interlocking to hold the feet together. It wasn't easy to read texture through night vision, but it looked more like stone or wood than skin, marked with long furrows that looked skillfully carved rather than natural. More mist constantly rolled from the furrows. The biggest surprise was when he realized it wasn't wearing a hood. Its head was just shaped like that, creating the pit where its eyes shone out. There was nothing below them, just a flat, smooth surface, almost worn looking despite this being only existing for a few seconds now. "What... the hell is that!?" He pointed up, utterly baffled. It seemed to take no offense, just quietly watching.

Shikishima grinned with satisfaction. -You do know how to equip your minions Arachne-dono.- The Mad Weaponsmith bowed. -I would take off my hat if I was wearing one.- After that moment of courteous recognition to Marika’s achievements he turned to the Dolls, focusing his attention on Jane. -As impressive as that was try to avoid overusing that ability inside the complex, you might hit valuable equipment or information that would be quite the dreadful disaster.- Shikishima, once again was being condescending to the Dolls, talking to them as if they could reason for themselves, quite the dick move.
As he preached on about the dangers of powerful corrosives Riku had already skipped over the melted goo and was setting some light sticks into the walls to light up the main entrance, a large chamber carved inside the hill and propped up by large concrete pillars. Most of the pillars were falling apart like old bread, revealing their rebar skeletons that after so much exposure to the humid air reached a point of oxidation that made them fuse into the cracks of the concrete, looking more like fossils than actual support material. The echo of Riku’s steps bounced off the irregular walls, some parts of the ceiling had sunken in with large patches of humidity being the prime suspects.
-Ugh, the smell is unbearable…- The stench of mold and stagnant puddles of murky water was a revolting bouquet that hit Riku like a 1-2 combination on his nostrils. Even somebody as stoic and superficially emotionless as the Vengeful Boxer reacted to the foul smell, his face contorting into a mask of disgust and revulsion. But this was momentary, as the opening of the door drew the night wind in, blowing the almost visible clouds of stench away, dispersing them. The faint whistling of the gale slowly took over the chamber, even swallowing Riku’s steps. The light sticks he left were starting to get properly warmed up and shed even more light on the area.
Piles of mutilated bodies in different states of decomposition were all over the place, to the point they could almost be considered a second tiling. Slashed, dismembered, burnt, melted or even presenting signs of frostbite, the corpses were dressed in rags that once used to be the proud uniforms of the Soviet Army. Riku took a step backwards and stepped on a skull, cracking it with his heel. A strange expression took over his face, not fear, just a hint of sadness and a tinge of pity, yet this quickly changed, realizing it was useless to feel sorry for the dead, specially the ones who led this Laboratory during its golden age. From what he could gather from Shikishima the people here were more butchers than scientists, using POWs as lab rats.
Shikishima was already on his tent after finishing his dissertation about not melting valuable assets inside and send a message to their comm devices. “From now on the Mission has started, good luck everybody, let’s combine our forces to completely explore this complex” Urnas was nowhere to be seen.
-That is a Gainen.- Ikari explained. -To be more precise that is your Gainen.- The Armored Knightmare hit his armor chestplate with his knuckles. -This is mine, because depending on the user the Gainen will manifest either hosted by the owner of the medal, turning into a suit of armor.- Ikari pointed at Lost Peace besides Ron. -Or will be bound to serve your the will like the one right beside you.- The Agent of Hatred took simple step forward, but the pressure around him changed. When they fought he didn’t use his Gainen Powers, just relying on the basic armor and his own Ki, but now his armor was ablaze and the eyes of his mask glowed dangerously. -Do you want to find out what it's power is? I could help you…- The Knight of Hatred took a fighting stance and the pressure surging from him, like waves hitting a cliffside, increased. His closed his leading hand finger by finger, the clawed tips scratching the armored palm with an ominous screeching. -The best way to find out is through fighting.-
-So let me help or feel free refuse my helping hand.- The blazes around him became larger and stronger. -But you should know something before making your choice.- A detonation of Purple Hatred climbed upwards, a literal pillar of flames surging from Ikari’s armor. - I hate those who reject my help.-

"I wasn't gonna..." Jane mumbled. Not like it was very useful most of the time. Yuu saw the shapes of the corpses in the darkness before the smell hit her. She gagged and covered her face with her bright red scarf. She continued pressing it over her mouth and nose as she took her first steps into the room. She examined the bodies. Long gone. Less worrying than if they were fresh of course.
She waved for the others to follow and one by one they stepped in, all avoiding the sludge on the floor. They knew full well how nasty Jane's foam could be. Marika ran to Yuu's side and looked over the remnants of the people who once ran this place. "Hmph. Unsalvageable. Shame." She turned away from the useless bodies to set up some threads in the shadows of the doorway. "Somebody comes in after us, I'll feel it." She boasted.
Jane came in after all the others, glancing around with terror in the darkness. Martha stuck close to, defensively looming over her. Was whatever took apart those soldiers still close? How long had it been exactly? Sidney made no move to investigate anything, just falling against the wall. She glanced up and noticed the lowered ceiling, letting out a long sigh. Well, she would rather not die to a cave in. She probably should do something. She took a few steps away from the wall and fell. Not downwards, but straight up. She moved exactly like she was falling but in the wrong direction entirely. Lightly she landed on the ceiling and started walking around, inspecting the damage. "Hey. Got anything for a droopy ceiling, conehead?" She spoke over the comm.
More armor? He had enough trouble with the armor that was built into his body. "Keep the fucking thing off of me. Stay what you are you fucking thing." He growled at the Gainen. It didn't react to his aggression, continuing to hover peacefully. His anger faltered like a campfire in a hurricane when Ikari got into a fighting position again. This guy could do more than he did last time!? Was this the power Ron now held!? He hoped to live long enough to find out. "Why do you keep fucking pretending to give me a choice!?" He roared as his anger kicked in again. His armor rushed out to cover his body once more. "You keep talking about what you hate! Well I hate that! And I hate you!"

Shikishima ignored Sidney’s comments, no need to reply to simple automaton made of flesh. The Mad Weaponsmith could appreciate Marika’s craftsmanship, yet he absolutely despised the end result and her choice of raw materials. If Doctor Kago (Who was the one who recommended recruiting Marika) was the one leading this mission he would’ve been salivating just by looking at the Dolls, constructs he would’ve never achieved with his combination of biotech and genetic manipulation. Shikishima disliked the usage of “meat” on his work, to him organic tissue was the target of his creations, not part of it, thus his hatred for the Dolls came from that Mad Scientist philosophy, of discarding the organic altogether in favor of mechanical supremacy.
Shikishima didn’t have time to think about this as his monitors started showing activity going their way. Maybe the echo of their voices, or maybe the wind, caught the attention of some of the denizens of the complex who were moving closer through the only hallway which ceiling hadn’t collapsed. “Bzzt--Arachne-dono you’re about to meet some of the locals.” He informed through the commlink, there was considerable interference, but so far it was only a low buzz that didn’t rob the message from its meaning. The Mad Weaponsmith could barely figure out the actual appearance of the incoming danger, as the cameras set by Urnas lacked night vision capabilities (mostly to save battery power) but he could easily notice that they weren’t many, not few, but not many.
Back in the first chamber the sound of clanking steps slowly drifted from the hallway and the echoes of those ghastly gaits flooded the chamber. CLANK! They were getting closer. Riku noticed the incoming threat and expanded his consciousness through his Fighting Spirit, a traditional technique of Technical Spirit Boxers, yet this brought no results or reactions to the pulse of energy he launched like a Radar. This worried the young man, as this was the first time he had fought anything like the enemies he was about to face, never meeting undead enemies before. (He only heard rumors of an undead Spirit Boxer). Ignoring the instinctive fear to the unknown he was experimenting he lifted his guard up ready for anything.
Finally the slow march of the denizens of the complex took them to the radius of light, allowing the faint luminescence of the glow sticks to bathe their bodies and reveal more than just their silhouettes. Half decomposed bodies advanced towards them, some without chunks of meat or even without skin, dried out husk that shouldn’t be moving under any circumstance, yet grafted directly into their bodies, more like torture implements than cybernetic parts, pieces of mismatched machinery allowed them to move. Rudimentary yet robust, the implants worked as an exoskeleton to the already diseased bodies, moving under their most basic programming, the parameters of defending the complex from intruders.
The abominations made of flesh and rusted iron advanced with staggered steps, their worn out and broken artificial limbs creaked ominously with each step they took as most of them were incomplete, making their moves quite irregular and unpredictable. Most of them had dirty red helmets with cracked black visors on their head, obscuring their gaunt faces and lack of eyes, as the helmet visor was directly connected to their optic nerves. From time to time lines of cracked light crossed the glass from side to side, akin to a broken heart monitor graph. Their mouths didn’t move, yet from their helmet communication devices a single word came out. A word that also appeared on their visors, drawn in eerie white light.
{SMERT’}
The 20 strong squad of shambling cyborgs slowly made way towards them, clearly not yet reacting to them, maybe it was a good time to take the initiative and attack, or should the group wait and see what the Soviet Abominations would do?
Ikari sighed behind his helmet and clenched his fists. His legs muscles tensed up and his feet cracked the ground underneath him. The Armored Knightmare was proposing a simple test but Ron’s impulsiveness took him to provoke him. -If this is how you want to play it out…- The Renegade Agent step-in was blindingly fast, breaking the sonic barrier with a loud boom, leaving a trail of Purple Flames behind him. He added the momentum from his dash to his fist and performed a very orthodox Seiken-zuki, the classical karate straight fist, moving one fist forward while the other one retreated, as if both arms were tied by a rope with a pulley behind his back.
-I'll play along.- He twisted his fist as he closed in, adding even more momentum, but instead of connecting he stopped all his movement mere cm before reaching Ron’s abdomen and let the wind pressure caused by his fist to be the one to hit the Iron Angel. The Knight of Hatred reinforced his attack with a resolved shout of -CHESTO!- As he finished his move. He didn’t want to kill Ron, as losing somebody who activated the medal meant having to look for a replacement.

The moment she was warned, Marika started laying down string. She lay sticky threads across the floor in front of the path leading in. Whatever was coming at them would be getting stuck on this. It was moments later she saw just what it was. "Ugh. Primitive." She said in disdain, stepping back. It looked like her scissors wouldn't do much. She instead drew her pistols and began firing, going for body shots with passable accuracy at this short range. Jane screamed when she saw the shambling soldiers. Foam involuntarily squirted from her palms, forcing Martha to duck to avoid losing her comfy coat.
It instead sailed for the zombies, erasing Martha's annoyed scowl. "Oh, yeah! Melt the exoskeletons! We'll back you up!" Martha yelled, rushing for the right flank. She'd rather not get in the way of Jane's foam or the weapons her sisters were about to unload on the horde. She launched kicks that could drop brick walls at their mechanical joints. Those should be weak points! Jane gulped and sprayed at the hopefully trapped zombies. Besides her, the dolls were drawing their weapons from the holsters Marika had sewn over the day. Chelsea raised her oversized shotgun like it was nothing. Hellfire was no good on soulless shamblers, but if movies had taught her anything, shotguns were. She fired a few flaming cones, hopefully incinerating a good chunk. She'd rather not dirty her sword on corpses if she didn't have to.
Sidney didn't come down from the ceiling. Not like she had a reason to. She just took a few shots with her blaster and laid back. These weren't a real threat. Not really worth her effort. Martha was followed by Yuu, tears flowing down her face as she prepared to ignite. Josefina looked stoically down at her siblings, just watching the fight for a bit. She pondered the situation carefully. It would be bad to be wrong here... but it looked like she didn't have to hold back! Josefina's immobile eyes seemed to light up with joy as she swept her arms down, seeking to grab up zombies and crush them in her fingers like clay. There was a childish delight in the way she swung her fists to batter the comparatively tiny zombies aside.
Ron managed to actually dodge an attack by Ikari, or so he thought for just a second. He was finally starting to read Ikari's movements, made easier by their ultra orthadox nature. What he didn't read was the shockwave that smashed him into the wall of snow created by the medal, creating a vaguely angelic hole in it. He collapsed the whole bank when he burst out the top like a jumping fish, hovering above next to his Gainen. "Oh, that does it! How do I use this thing!?" He glared at Lost Peace, but got no reaction. He was a little hesitant still to reach out to its power. He wasn't sure what the consequences may be for one, and for another he simply had no idea what those powers were. He glanced between Ikari's blazing aura of pain and misery and the calm eyes of Lose Peace a few more times before putting his hands to his mask and letting out a guttural sigh. "Oh, fine, I'll try it." He growled, reaching out to its power.

Marika’s Plasma bullets pierced the almost skeletal remains of the poor souls, leaving scorching holes, that were fused with machinery and any bullet that reach the implants either just burnt the surface of the highly durable plating or bounced off into the nearby walls. Jane’s attack was a bit more effective, managing to start disassembling the nearest Cyborg as its pieces fell to the floor half eaten by the young Dolls caustic foam. Martha’s kick was as effective as her creator’s bullets, as even the strength to tear down a brick wall was only enough to dent the incredibly strong plating, even as rusted as it was. Chelsea’s shotgun spewed burning shrapnel on the Undead Cyborgs. The scattered shots superficially pierced the armored implants, not able to go through the armor but managing to punch large holes through the flaccid bodies being carried around by the implants.
Sidney’s potshot from the ceiling didn’t cause much effect, just a little bit of mechanical issues to some of the Undead Cyborgs she it. Josefina’s fingers closed on some of the enemies, which mechanically struggled against the massive Golem-like doll with little no effect, being crushed like toys ran over by cars. The savage offensive of the dolls caught Riku a bit by surprise, he was more of a thinker than a brawler when it came to fights. Thus he used the information he managed to pick up from the Dolls and their enemies to attack. Clearly concussive force wasn’t going to work, as proved by the lack of effect from Martha’s kick. Piercing power wasn’t good either, as bullets and other projectiles didn’t do much as well. He couldn’t overpower the machines or shoot acid so he decided a different plan of action, rushing towards 2 of the remaining 16.
He slithered between two of the Cyborgs and threw a couple of tentative jabs, not to damage them, but to have their attention. -Come on…- He whispered, ready to react. Luckily it didn’t take long, as one of them lifted it’s massive fist and lowered it with mechanical might, the sound of pistons and hydraulics creaking before it fell. Riku used his specialty footwork, Maai Kenbu, to draw the attack towards him, before vanishing from the spot with a twist of his ankle, shifting his body weight and spinning out of harm’s way. That wasn’t the case for the other, the one behind him, as his comrade crushed it with it’s missed attack. Riku kept jumping on the spot, starting to warm up to the fight. 15 remained and all of them kept inexorably advancing towards the group, ignoring the defeat of their brethren.
All of the remaining Cyborg’s visors suddenly turned red. 4 of them, the ones up front charged at Josefina, with their piston fists lifted up as guard, while the leg supports accelerated their pace, they were trying to ram Josefina behind her legs, aiming for the knee. The one that attacked Riku also speed up towards him. 3 charged at Chelsea, Jane and Martha got 2 each one and Yuu 1 more. The remaining one, that seemingly retained more features than the others and was less rusted, pierced the floor with several clamps coming from the soles of its implants and joined both cybernetic forearms that formed a single larger cylinder. The fists bended off the wrist revealing primitive energy weapons aimed to shoot a jolt of plasma at Sidney.
Marika was left alone, as their rudimentary programming marked her as the least dangerous threat. That might've been a huge mistake.
- Show me what you can do! I hate when people don't show me their moves...- Ikari walked towards Ron with resolute steps, his armor blazing covered in a coat of Hatred Flames. The Armored Knightmare was considering his next step when something hit him, as soon as he entered a certain range from Ron’s Bound Gainen, Lost Peace, his vision became blurry. Ikari staggered, taking on hand to his head as waves of energy surged from Lost Peace, like rings of fog drifting away from the strange creature and splashing against Ikari who breathed in. The Armored Knightmare attempted to take another step but he staggered again, this time around raising his head and losing his helmet. His face showed confusion and sadness.
-Master?- He asked with a tone so different to the one he had been using that it could’ve very well be a completely different voice. Ikari seemed to be in some kind of trance, his eyes looking beyond Ron, beyond the tundra, beyond the snow falling around him. He had been taken to the past… but whose past?

Martha yelled in anger when her foot only found pain on the plating of the zombies. "OW! FUCK!" What were these things made of? She backed off just a bit as two took interest in her. She saw Riku's solution and it seemed easily repeatable to somebody as swift as her. She rushed the zombies, getting between them just as he had done. Hopefully they learned slower than her. She threw a few weak jabs at each. Maybe she'd get lucky and both would punch. If not, she'd have to figure out how to handle one of them. Either way, she was going to be on the other side of the room when one threw a punch.
Jane screamed when two of the zombies came right at her, running back towards the entrance. Oh god they were after her! And everybody was too busy with their own stuff! She scrambled in a panic towards the exit, pausing on the lip. The zombies slowly shambled behind. Would they just keep chasing her everywhere!? She was almost more afraid to run out into the swamp than staying here. What if she sank and never surfaced? Dolls didn't need to breathe, so she'd just be stuck there until she starved. She was backing out of the hole she carved in the doorway when a sudden blur came from the ceiling, right for one of the zombie's heads. From her new vantage point, Sidney slowly rolled her head in Jane's direction. "Do what I'd do, kid." She suggested before falling off the zombie, hopefully drawing its attention to herself to leave Jane with only one.
"What would you do!?" Jane demanded as it grew near. Then she looked up, and realized. She took a few steps back. When the zombie was in the right spot, she'd melt just a bit more of the doors and drop a ton of steel on its head. Of course! That's what Sidney would do! Use gravity! She would thank her big sister, but she was already sliding away across the floor, clearly using some weak personal gravity to move away.
Josefina reacted slowly when the zombies picked up the pace. Perhaps she thought herself invincible, having never met a physical threat to her being. If so, she was proven quite wrong when her knee blew out and she was dropped. She shook the room when she slammed to the ground, a look of shock on her earthen face. She didn't desire a real challenge that could actually hurt her. That was Robin's prerogative. She just wanted somebody fun to wrestle, not something who would hurt her! She retaliated, waving her hand to make chunks of concrete blow up from the ground like hundred pound bullets right for their heads and chestplates. She couldn't directly control concrete, but the earth below was susceptible enough to her influence.
Chelsea sheathed her shotgun with a sigh. Well, that wasn't working. Zombie movies lied. She pulled her long blade from its hilt and held it in front of her, black blade covered in jagged edges and spikes (all illusions) a sharp contrast to her head to toe pink. She rushed the closest zombie. They must need the bodies for something, otherwise why have them at all? The exoskeletons were capable enough on their own. It was with that in mind that she swung her blade right for the visor of the closest zombie. Marika seethed near her at being ignored. "You... stupid things. Don't underestimate me!" Thoughts ran through her mind for revenge and she swiftly narrowed in on one. Use her knowledge to destroy them! "Yuu, the joints! I'll help you!"
Yuu glanced at her and snuffed her flames. She couldn't use them fighting so closely with an ally, especially not Marika. It was a tradeoff, as she instantly felt her strength drain away to its base level. She rushed the zombie as instructed, attempting to use her sword as a lever, wedged into a joint of the machine where Marika pointed it out. "Yes, there, the shoulder! Ahahahahaha!" She moved like something between an arthropod and a primate on Yuu and the mechanical soldier, clinging to surfaces no matter their smoothness and springing about between the two as pleased her. Marika attempted to work on a neck joint with her scissors.
Ron saw and heard the moment of hesitation and his instincts kicked in. He dove from the air foot first right at Ikari's face, all four engines pushing him for maximum impact. Ordinarily he'd hold back more, but Ikari could take it. Maybe with a few less teeth, but he didn't need those. "You want moves? This one's called the Meteor Swarm!" If it struck, he would pull off the jets to drop to the ground. "I know that probably didn't do much damage, but damn did it feel good!" Ron yelled to Ikari, sliding back into a battle stance. He guessed his Gainen had done this. He had felt a pull when Ikari became distracted. From the word he mumbled, he was beginning to get a grasp on what this thing could do. He grinned broadly, a gesture Ikari couldn't see. This really was useful. "I have to thank you for handing me the keys to revenge for that beatdown you gave me!" His jets pushed him off again and he rushed to throw a punch, a heavy body blow for Ikari's kidney.

The Undead Cyborgs who had centered their attention on Martha punched each other out, one of them punching the main body of the other so hard it pulled it off from the implants with a disgusting crumbling sound, as the dried up corpse hit a wall and fell apart. The other one received a double hammer hand on the head, destroying the helmet. Electrical sparks surged from the cables coming out from the helmet and shorted out the implants, the creature falling apart into a pile of armor and cracked body parts. Jane and Sidney were also successful on their endeavors, with Jane dropping molten door on the being, drowning it on sludge and the Lazy Doll able to get the attention of the other enemy pursuing her sister.
Josefina wasn’t so lucky, as her concrete bullets were received by a fierce guard from the Dysfunctionals Cyborgs, who managed to react fast enough, thanks to the Golem Doll slow reaction, and lifted their armored outer arms to block most of the barrage, only getting scrapes and dents. The quartet rushed towards her, their fist ready to unleash a piston-powered beatdown on her legs. Chelsea’s and Yuu’s double team worked wonderfully, as the Fancy-dressed Doll first strike seemingly blinded the enemy, it seemed that the visor was linked to their visual feedback. The Big Sister of the Dolls managed to strike unimpeded by the enemy, her sword damaging the joint while Marika also assisted with her scissors, hitting enough cables hidden beyond the crease of the articulation to stop the Undead Cyborg.
Riku quickly gathered the new information from the battlefield thanks to his dynamic vision. Seemingly the enemies could also be stopped by separating the body from the implants or hindered by destroying their visors. -Hit the visors to blind them!- The Vengeful Boxer snapped a piece of advice with his low and raspy voice as he punched the enemy in front of him using his Henshikiri-Hasebe Jab, gathering his strength on his middle knuckle and through Fighting Spirit Enhancement and technique he was able to turn a concussive weapon like his fist into a sharp instrument, cutting the visor in half and almost splitting the body of his target in half.
A loud crack echoed in the empty tundra. It wasn’t a clean sound, it was wet and disgusting, as if somebody had stepped on fruit with all his might. Ikari was thrown back by the attack, the first time this had happened in months, maybe years. Still his well trained body didn’t fall down, he just left the imprints of his armored feet on the ground, as two deep trenches about 2 meters long. Ron’s well placed kick had done something nobody did in a long time, he managed to make Ikari bleed. This was the true risk of battling Gainen Medal users, you never know when you can find somebody with a power like Ron’s.
The Armored Knightmare’ nose was bent, blood pouring down from his nostrils and an expression of enraged shock painted on his face with the same intensity as the red of his blood. Ikari Fukushi was pissed, but he didn’t have time to express his anger as his opponent charged in once again, propelled by the jets of his armor. Once again, as Ron got closer something took over Ikari, a haze over his eyes and he spoke with the same strange tone once more. -Old man don’t give me one of those things to me…- He proclaimed as the Iron Angel closed in. -I don’t need a crutch lik…- He tried to continue talking but the sound of metal against metal thundered in the tundra.
Ron’s fist connected by Ikari’s side and thanks to the White Carpass durability and the momentum he gained from the jets. The Regalia of Hatred cracked upon receiving such impact and the blow’s shockwave managed to reach beyond it and reach Ikari, who doubled down in pain, falling to his knees. What a fearsome power has been unlocked by Ron, something insidious enough to distract a warrior of Ikari’s caliber.

"Yeah, I noticed." Chelsea rolled her eyes when Riku yelled to strike the visors. She stepped in on the other two zombies before her and in swept for both their visors in one sweep before simply walking by. They were no threat blind. She spotted Jane running back and gestured with her sword. "How about you help Josefina out!" She yelled while advancing on the the zombie following Sidney. Jane nodded and ran by. "Josefina! Hold out for just a second!"
Josefina nodded her massive head and scooted back, giving herself just a little distance. "Melt! Melt you fools! Ahahahahaha!" Jane reveled in her momentary confidence as she sprayed out her foam at two of the zombies attacking Josefina. It wasn't often she was the most effective person in the room. Josefina managed to get back on her feet and quickly sought revenge. She threw a huge kick at the closer one, a giant sized American football punt, the sort of blow that could send somebody right through the ceiling. The other she did a massive dropping fist towards, falling down with her hand out to bear the brunt of the force. It wouldn't just crush a cyborg, it would smash right through the concrete and shake the very earth.
Yuu stood from the felled cyborg. Even if it lived, it couldn't move enough to fight her. She dove to tackle the next blinded zombie, Marika pouncing to land on the last one. Both attempted to again wrench them apart. "Rest again." Yuu mumbled as she slid her sword into a joint and pulled.
Ron put down a white clad foot dyed red, anchoring himself for another strike. "What was that, asshole? About not needing crutches?" Ron blasted into the air, a short hop with his jets to set up for blasting down with full force for another kick, this time aimed right at Ikari's leg. "Cause I'm not sure that's accurate!" Anger still fueled him and every blow. Ikari was going to be feeling every blow he landed on Ron.

It didn’t take long, as thanks to their collaborative effort, the Dolls and Riku managed to defeat the Undead Cyborgs, Jane being the MVP of the battle. Still not everything was alright, as they would soon discover. Josefina’s football punt had launched one of the enemies directly at the ceiling, which was mostly caved in a weakened after years of humidity. At first the impact just caused a bit of the weathered concrete to fall off, but moments after the fight ended the room was shaking as if a quake was happening. Dust and small pebbles started falling from the ceiling, as the main pillar of the room, one that was a faint shell of what it once was, with the re-bar exposed and rusted shivered like a palm tree in a tropical storm.
The large pillar crumbled under the weight of the increasingly shaky ceiling and sludge-like mud started falling down on the group. Most of the collapse was focusing on the part nearest to the door so the best course of action was running deeper into the complex. Riku didn’t even doubt it and rushed towards the large hallway from where the Cyborgs came from. The Vengeful Boxer sharply honed reflexed and his impressive footwork allowed him to move through the falling concrete debris, jumping into safety. He didn’t care in the least about the Dolls, his previous piece of advice was to accelerate their work, so this time around he imagined they would handle this problem on their own and reach to a similar conclusion to him.
Either way whoever survived this collapse would have to find an alternative exit.
Ikari, still on his knees could see images flashing on his mind, places he never visited, people he never fought, students he never had. But amongst all this images something always came back, a torrent of water closing in. He could hear the roaring water, he could almost feel the humidity on his skin. And then darkness. As Ron closed in, Ikari could only perceive infinite darkness. Yet in that darkness he saw something, a single point of light, a flickering flame. A purple flame, it was getting closer and it burn so bright, it was so warm. But it wasn’t comforting at all, it was painful and bothersome, yet it was the only warmth and light in a world covered by darkness. So the Armored Knightmare extended his hand and grasped it, closing his fist around it.
Back in reality Ikari had detected Ron’s hatred and thanks to it he managed to escape the maze created by his own mind, or better put somebody else’s mind. This allowed him to react as his fingers aimed to grab the Iron Eagle’s foot and then using his own momentum raise him overhead and slam him against the floor.

The dolls all began rushing away from the collapsing ceiling, Josefina slower than the others with her general sluggishness and bum leg. Still, even she escaped the collapse to kneel and start scooping up mud to repair her leg. Yuu immediately grabbed her com. "Shikishima, come on. We've had a cave in. All hands are accounted for, but our exit is blocked. Do you have any other entrances on your maps?" She wanted to have a way out before she went any further in.
The other dolls were already murmuring and Josefina reached to shove some of the debris inside. "Stop!" Yuu yelled at her. "We don't know what rubble is propping up what's left of the ceiling. Shift the wrong thing and you could bring the rest down." She warned. "Hey, anybody seen the weird guy?" Martha looked around. Had the shadow guy gone further in already?
Ron's mouth fell open when Ikari caught his foot. "What-" Ikari slammed him into the ground with a distinct crack, the ribs his nanobots had worked so hard to fix snapping again. "Araaaaagh!" He howled, rolling away. What the hell, it was going so well! Head to head wouldn't go so well with Ikari working again. He reached out to the power of his Gainen again. Could he cloak himself in illusions? Make himself somebody from Ikari's past? Perhaps the master he was mumbling about. Ron attempted to do so while charging, darting back and forth to make a feint for Ikari's left before rushing right and launching a hook at his face.

[Bzzzzt] There is an exit, it lies in your path towards the Heart, is a bit dangerous but I think you’re equipped to leave through it [Bzzzzt] Shikishima replied to their worries. [Bzzzzt] I’m checking the maps to give you a proper path towards that exit so you can secure it [Bzzzzt] The communication started falling apart. [Bzzzzt] Careful with [Bzzzzt] Never touch [Bzzzzt] Avoid fighting any [Bzzzzt] [Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzt] The communication, as the Mad Weaponsmith predicted, was cut short by the mysterious interference this area had when it came to radio and wireless connections.
-If you are referring to Urnas- Riku spoke with his unpleasant low and raspy voice. -He entered the complex before us and went further into it to scout for us.- He didn’t show any kind of apparent worry about their current predicament, he did have them, yet he didn’t show them, letting your emotions out is how you get killed, to him fighting and living were one and the same, so whatever rule he applied to his fights was also carried over to his life, thus showcasing his emotions, letting them rule his thoughts and actions, was a one way ticket to the underworld. The irony about thinking about this and being actually underground didn’t escape him.
-I think we should do some exploring, we need to get the lay of the land before resuming communications with Shikishima.- Riku explained with a monotone voice. - We also need to be careful about the locals.- He glared at Josefina. -And be mindful of our surroundings if we end up fighting them.- Riku knew that was kind of uncalled for, but he was a tiny bit irritated by the whole situation. His only goal was to train under Ikari's wing and each second in this complex was a moment he was wasting.
Ikari helmet closed up as he released Ron’s foot. His armor cracks closed up, as if the metal burnt and melted over the cracks thanks to the Hatred Flames burning around him. The haze on his mind was gone, set ablaze by Ron’s hatred and rage. The Armored Knightmare read the Iron Angel’s attack like a book, ignoring the feint and blocking the punch with his now burning hand by slapping it out of the way, a flaming sword appearing on his free hand and his eyes locked on Ron. -Good, now I know what you can do…- Energy started swirling towards Ikari who started shining ever more brightly.
-You should stop surrender, I know you feel like you can win because you connected a couple of hits but you’re…- The Agent of Hatred lifted his blade aiming at the sky and all the energy around him climbed through his body and reached the tip of his blade, becoming a gigantic flaming tornado of the deepest Purple. -Surrender or I’ll take that medal from your cold and dead hands to find a new host for it...- The vortex of flames increased in size and radiance. -And I would really hate that.-

"Well hopefully he can give us some actually useful info." Martha growled, glaring at the com because Shikishima wasn't there to glare at in person. "That was useful. We have a way out when we're done. Let's move and get it over with." Yuu looked at the walls as they walked down the hallway. Just what weren't they supposed to touch? There were a lot of things here she wasn't especially eager to touch. Marika's bangs were stretching out in front of her, warily waving in the dim caverns of the base. "Should have brought Miles..." She grumbled. His extra senses were handy and he'd help with her bad mood. Yuu grumbled and dripped tears into her hands. They lit up, turning her hands into impromptu torches while the other dolls grabbed their flashlights.
The snow on the ground turned straight to steam, sucked into the vortex Ikari's tornado created to form an even more horrifying image. It seemed to suck away Ron's will to fight as much as it did the water vapor. Ron stepped back once, then twice, jaw dropping. He saw a terrifying strength he hadn't even suspected before in the flames of the ungodly knight before him. It was then he realized just what he was looking at when he saw the empty black holes in the wolf's face.
Ikari's medal must be hate. And Ikari was perfectly made for it. Ron could grasp that atunement to a concept would make it stronger and just what a difference that could make. And what he was seeing was perfect atunement. Hatred was a sword gripped tight in Ikari's hand. And it was all the greater testament to his strength that hatred seemed to have no grip on Ikari's own hilt. Ron dropped to his knees, feeling like Atlas, the pressure of the entire world bringing him down. "...I surrender." He said, his own hatred swallowed up by the black hole before him.

The damp hallway was almost oppressive. Even with the lights set by Urnas as he explored in advance weren’t fighting back against the thick and ominous atmosphere that flooded the hallways once they got sealed in. A light fog, pure humidity, rolled over the floor, getting the group, except Josefina, need deep in this obscuring mist. The floor was cracked and unstable, with patches of muddy ground, as ground sipped through the crack absorbed the water in the air. Riku’s footsteps were accompanied by the sloppy sound of mud splashing under his soles. The hallways was long and had several collapsed passages on the sides, so the only route was forward. Still the whole thing seemed to be slightly curved and slowly descending deeper into the ground. Patches of moss made the walls appear spotted, like a cheetah’s hide.
As they advanced the lights flickered around them as streams of liquid darkness slowly congregated into a single point in front of them with a spiralling pattern. The shadows took the shape of Urnas, the enigmatic and red eyed member of Shikishima’s squad. His presence made the situation even more eerie as he glared at Yuu, Martha and Jane before starting to talk. -The path splits in 25 Stânjen… I mean 50 mts.- He crouched, his hand vanishing into the mist as he touched the ground. There was a small pulse, like a heartbeat, surging from the point of contact of his fingers with the ground. The fog vanished as if a powerful wind blew it away. The ground was revealed, darkened and stained concrete with many cracks, but most importantly piles of bones and cybernetic enhancements all around the place, as if this hallway had been the location of a huge massacre.
-The path to the left continues like this and goes deeper into the facility, the path to the right is the one who climbs up an spiralling staircase and reaches the exit Shikishima was talking about.- He explained with no emotion or emphasis, more like a machine printing information than a living being talking. Upon relaying the information he vanished as he appeared, exploding into ribbons of solid darkness that flew away in a riding the wind. Riku looked around, he had seen violence and horror in his life, but this was the first time he had seen it in such scale, still he managed to bottle up his feelings, steeling himself. -Should we take the right or go further to the left, I don’t care at all.- The Vengeful Boxer turned around as he spoke, his face completely unshaken about the situation, hiding his bubbling emotions deep within.
The flames of hatred were extinguished as soon as Ikari hear Ron’s capitulation. -I commend your intelligence kiddo and I’ll bid you farewell after passing a short piece of advice.- Ikari’s helmet opened up, the maw of the wolf mask retracting into the main helmet so the Iron Angel could see how deadly serious Ikari was. -It would be for your better interest avoiding Japan for the time being, some idiots think they own these medals and want to take them from those who were chosen by them.- And with that he started walking away, his helmet closing around his head and purple flames burning out of his armor. A final and powerful blaze surged from his body and when the fire died out Ikari had vanished.

Yuu lit more and more of her body ablaze as they crept deeper into the facility. She was wary of the shadows here. Her heat did a little to drive away the fog, but not enough that the dolls didn't find themselves stepping into the mud from time to time. Marika found her foot in mud and snarled, looking for somebody close to blame it on, but all the dolls had taken a safe distance. She just snarled and hopped on the the wall to walk there, avoiding the mud altogether. Josefina stopped to put her hand in the mud, "tasting" its composition with great interest. "Come on, we'll be here forever if you stick your fingers in every puddle." Martha tapped Josfina's foot with her own as she passed the giant. Josefina reluctantly stood and continued.
Yuu reached for her sword when liquid darkness began pooling from the shadows, but released it when she realized it was Urnas. She hadn't been aware he could do that. When he left, she pointed to the left in the fork. "We can't leave just yet. We haven't completed our task." The other dolls largely groaned. Great, they weren't just going to go home and leave this stupid deal where it belonged. "Be quiet, I want my stuff!" Marika yelled, walking ahead of the others. Yuu sighed at both responses and motioned to follow her. She couldn't very well let her go ahead and get killed.
"Japan? What people? Hey, get back here, I deserve an explanation! I don't know anything about these!" He yelled after Ikari as the armored man vanished. His lip curled in a snarl when he saw Ikari was gone. "FUCK!" He yelled, kicking through a tree and toppling it. He slashed his blades through another. "IF I EVER SEE HIM AGAIN I'LL CUT HIS LIMBS OFF! AS IF I NEED MORE PEOPLE AFTER ME! FUCK EVERYTHING!" Ron roared, taking off into the air. He slowed to a stop high above everything.
Slowly his rage faded, replaced by a deep and frigid emptiness. He lowered into the clearing where he had left his coat and his armor slipped away. Over his carapace he shoved his coat and snow pants. "I don't take it you can light a fire?" He looked into his newly empowered medal. There was no response. He sighed and started all over. The thrill of power was gone. It didn't keep him warm, it didn't fill his belly. Right now it was just another target on his back.

The whole group rushed behind Marika, who haphazardly decided to pull a Leeroy Jenkins in an extremely dangerous. If Riku cared enough about Marika he would’ve done something, but clearly he didn’t give two shits about the Dolls and their master. He followed the group as they arrived at the bifurcation, the air became thicker the closer they got to it and right now you could almost cut the atmosphere around them with a knife. As the impatient Seamstress reached the splitting paths a rustling came from the hallway going deeper into the base. The darkness that flooded that descending road suddenly was set alight as dozens of visors turned on revealing not only humans fused up with crude cybernetic enhancements, but also animals, as a couple of wolves were among the dozen zombie cyborgs slowly walking towards them.
But that wasn’t all, as in her rush, Marika didn’t notice stepping on several panels that sunk under her weight. Whoever was closest to Marika would be split from the rest of the group who would be left behind a grid of electrical energy coursing from different coils hidden inside the walls. Seemingly the base had still a bit of power, at least to charge up the security measures, which were activated once the base fell. The power of the electricity was made quite evident if you inspected the bodies nearby the place where the barrier was activated were charred beyond recognition, just revealed by the sudden influx of energy burning through the fog. Riku, who was quite fast, ended up near Marika and thus he only had to deal with the incoming horde instead of the lighting fence.
-Perfect.- He was of course being sarcastic, as he gave a sideway glare at Marika before raising his guard. The enemies were incoming and as easy it was to defeat humans Riku felt that the Wolves, who sported different enhancements, more akin to a curved carapace over their backs and reinforcements on their legs, could prove to be quite more difficult than the Zombie Cyborgs. The Vengeful Boxer was starting to guess why Urnas could be pissed off with Marika and co. He was wrong about the reasons behind the scout's anger, but still this would be a good reason to be filled with wrath upon meeting them. So little discipline, surely part of being born with their powers instead of working hard for them, at least that was what passed through Riku's head as he awaited the enemies to come, like a good counter fighter he was.

Yuu kept a careful eye on the surroundings as they advanced through the ruined hallway. She didn't see Marika's foot hit the tile under the fog. She was already rushing forward when she saw the visors alight. The gate appeared right behind her and quite a bit behind Martha, who with her quick reflexes and slow wits had decided that if Yuu was running forward so should she. She only thought about why when the lightening gate already tightly restricted her passage back. "What? Ah, crap." She stood dejected before the impassible obstacle.
"Nobody try to push through! Jane, see if you can find and melt whatever's generating the beams!" Yuu demanded, stopping Josefina from putting her finger in the arcs of electricity. Jane nodded and began burrowing into the ground with her foam, seeking to destroy the generators there. On the other side, Yuu pointed up. "Marika, to the ceiling. Stay out of reach." She spoke firmly and Marika instantly scrambled away. Yuu looked more warily at the wolves than the humans. The humans she had already taken. She didn't know these new threats. She rushed for the closest human and thrust for a joint to pry apart. Martha rushed one of the wolves, throwing a jumping kick for its face. She would see what they could do right away!
