Ron hovered into the air when he was freed from the grip of the techno-knight. He surveyed the chaos his powers had caused, feeling the power of the crowd feeding him. A laugh crackled through his mask. “See this, asshole? I am the locust, the commander of the crowd!” A plume of magma lit him up from behind as he hovered closer to his opponent. His confident laughter petered off into a chorus of swearing as he blasted upwards, thrown into midair somersaults by the shockwaves thrown off. He cut his engines and fell back to earth, landing easily before the armor. He attempted to grab the armor and wheel to throw it into the magma that the panicked mages had spawned.
Marceline only had to swing once to take down the ordinary humans, leaving her and her candlestick splattered with blood. She just grunted when the two gangsters came charging her with electric batons. She wasn’t going to like this, but it would help a lot. Her hand shot out and caught the first baton in her palm. Lightning coursed through her body and her legs wobbled, but a smile came to her lips. WIth pain fueling her muscles, she pulled hard on the baton, either flinging the man holding it or ripping it from his hands. The other baton she dodged with a quick sidestep, her foot already lashing out behind to strike at the crotch of the main with the knife. “You should all just surrender… cause I don’t fight nice.” Marceline threw her candlestick at the nearest face, followed with a middle finger.
Cosmina immediately let out a keening yell when the stranger appeared in the hallway. Without a moment’s hesitation, a sonic shockwave exploded from her horns. Every door in the hallway was shaken as the blast passed by, a tidal wave of sheer force. “Ruuuun!” Cosmina didn’t stop to see how effective her attack was, she just turned to flee the other direction, grabbing Kate to take her with her.
“You heard him! Put it down!” Jenifer hunkered down when she realized that these partners weren’t on the same page. The were no time to think, just do. She shoved her captive as hard as she could at his partner and bolted through the door. She swung it closed and covered it in a layer of ice, then another. Her breath came out in ragged gasps, desperately gulping air into her lungs. What the fuck was going on!? Tears began to flow as she backed away from the door. Where was everybody!?

Kids shouldn't play with the grown up's toys - The ex-paladin teleported behind him creating a torrent of air and pressure ready to send flying the spellword. The pentagrams he summoned at first began to form a dome to trap them both inside of it. Vladimir made sure to move in case the blades followed his track, this guys was as annoying as an old acquaintance from the Kingdom. That made his headache worse and even worsened his mood. He should have take the pills before meeting the others, he was regreting it so much right now.

Seeing that her stab worked, Yamiko was taken slightly off guard when he managed to grab her wrist and begin to squeeze hard upon it. “Ooooo, someone’s got a nice grip!” The demented magical girl cooed. The roots around her squeezed tightly, Yamiko coughing up a small amount of bloody directly at the possessed gem person.
“Too bad that grip won’t help you, unless you’re batting for the home team! Which considering your little jewel, isn’t too surprising.” Yamiko taunted. As her body turned back into mist, Yamiko summoned 2 long maroon spears that shot directly for the gem person’s right leg and torso, aiming to pin him to the ground through his leg.
---
A tidal wave of mixed emotions swept across Kate when the man in military gear suddenly appeared and threatened the room. What the heck was going on?! The confusion slowly became fear, which then became bafflement and anger when Cosmina blasted the hallway with her supercharged sonic blast that Kate helped to create. “Are you insane?!” Kate blurted out to Cosmina, being drug along by the doll.
“We are NOT leaving those two behind! So turn around and help them catch up before I pick you up!” Kate threatened, trotting along beside Cosmina. Why was her sister so stupid and a coward?! Did she really think the two of them could take down these thugs together?! Loveline was the real muscle of the group!

The armor's helmet silently tracked Ron's movements as he bragged about being an insect. With the same stoicism, it watched him flying away from the grenades and then flying back. It only reacted when he swooped in, bracing itself for ram. What Ron did instead was grab it and throw it into a plume of magma. The armor was swallowed by it and the area went quiet, except for the sounds of fighting nearby of course.
Then two fists flew out of the magma, red with searing heat and molten rock still hanging on to them. These long-distance punches were aimed at Ron and were followed by the armor, similarly magma-covered and even appearing to melt in some areas, boosting out with its thrusters, trying to ram into him headfirst and knock him into an orb of electricity similarly created by the panicking mages.
The first man tried holding on to his baton as long as he could, but all that resulted in was him getting flipped upside down and thrown into a snowbank. The second man stumbled after missing her, and the knifeman collapsed with teary eyes, glad only that he didn't even want to have any more children. Marceline swung her weapon at the second batonman's face and sent him flying, too. What she didn't notice in that time were the other enemies giving her some distance. The other enemies aside from a squad of 4 men in hazard suits carrying tanks of propane on their backs, connected with hoses to their weapons. They pointed them at Marceline and sprayed flames at her.
The blades stopped in their tracks when Vlad disappeared and reoriented themselves before flying toward him again. But they quickly stopped again, this time facing the protective dome Vlad's pentagrams created. They spun and slashed the air visciously, as if threatening and taunting Vlad, who was safely inside the dome.
Inside however, the spellsword found himself flying forward after Vlad disappeared. The air pressure knocked him away until he hit the wall of the dome. He stood up and turned to Vlad.
"Just 'cause I didn't see dinosaurs give birth doesn't mean I'm a kid, you demented old man." He tapped the snow with the tip of his sword. First a magic circle appeared in front of him, where the sword touched the ground. Then six circles appeared outside the dome. And finally seven appeared around Vlad. The spellsword stepped into the circle before him, teleporting himself behind Vlad and trying to shove his elbow into Vlad's spine.
If that worked and pushed Vlad forward into one of the circles, the old man would get teleported to an outer circle, the one nearest to the swords which would again home in on him with all the viciousness and bloodthirst they built up. If, however, Vlad sidestepped into one of the other circles around him, he would just be teleported into a different circle outside and the swords would have to travel farther.
Yakimo turned into mist and slipped out of the gem man's grip. Still mist, she threw two spears at him. The first struck his leg. The second he dodged in as much as he made it hit his stomach instead of his chest. The gem man grunted again. More roots burst through the ground and ripped the spears out, tossing them back at the mist. Then they started acting strangely. Some of them entered the man's wounds and started pulsing. Others surrounded him. Leaves started sprouting on the latter. They turned greener and greener until they were finally fully covered. Then the leaves all fell off. The leaves, their edges sharper than razors, started circling the man. If Yamiko dared rematerialize among them, she would surely suffer more than just a papercut.
The man that fell in front of Cosmina and Kate was sent hurtling into a wall from Cosmina's blast. If the blast itself didn't knock him out, the collision certainly. Having run away from the spot Love told them to stay at, they were no longer invisible. Thankfully, the hallway seemed to be safe for the moment, so they could discuss their next move in peace.
Jenifer pushed the man she was holding into his compatriot and ran out of the room. While she was freezing the door, she could hear her hostage yelling at the other man about how he was actually gonna shoot him. This quickly turned into a verbal scuffle full of shouting and curses. Then it turned into an actual scuffle.
Surely Jenifer was aware that she had many choices lined up before her. Run for the main entrance, surely she could get away from all this. Perhaps go to the security room and tell them about the intruders? Run for the worker's bedrooms, although what would she find there? Or perhaps she had a different idea, maybe even to put up a fight against these men? Whatever her decision, she would have to hurry. She could hear one of the men getting pushed into something on the other side of the frozen door. Then the door rattled slightly, followed by a "What the fuck?"

“Well that takes care of that.” Ron hissed, arms crossed as he hovered towards the ground. His complacency was nearly rewarded with two fists to the face, as he only narrowly ducked the surprises flying from the lava plume. He looked back to track their arcs so they didn’t strike him from behind, but that just left him open to the charging armor. It struck his midsection and clung tight, carrying him towards the lightning. He fired off his own rockets to counteract their momentum, but it was too little too late.
All he could do was cling to the armor in hopes of dragging them into the lightning with him. Scorching waves of electricity coursed over and through his armor, making him spasm and shake. Internal systems shut down to prevent overload, cutting off Ron’s connection to the crowd. Even his rockets cut off, dropping him into the snow to smoulder in anger. “Fucking… fuck! Turn on!” He yelled, but none of his systems responded. He was locked into a full reboot. “Fine! I’ll beat you down with nothing but my own skills!” Ron moved into a fighting stance, keeping his feet mobile as he closed in. When he was close enough, he launched a powerful side kick, hoping to force some distance while his powers recharged.
Marceline felt a solid impact from each of her attacks. Regular humans would have difficulty standing from those. She twirled her new toy as she peeked around the barrier Arthur had made for her, but the next attack came from behind. Winter’s chill turned to unbearable heat and she immediately dove forward into the snow, rolling and coming up on the other side of the barrier. A billowing cloud of flame danced on the other side, eating away at the ice and excreting it as steam. Marceline’s coat was ruined, having taken the brunt of the damage for her.
A wave of nausea ran up and down her body as she felt the burns on her back. She took a single step back. Fire. Of all the things they could throw at her, they had to use fire. Her guts twisted up like angry serpents. She should charge. Take them out. Her foot pushed backwards through the snow. It was like there was a solid wall of heat in front of her through which she could not pass. The wall thinned to the point she could see the hellish glow of the flames through it and finally her will broke. Marceline was off, scrambling through the snow as fast as she could. She did not look back at the burning ones behind her, only keeping her eyes ahead for safe places to hide from them.
Kate wasn’t proving the most cooperative person in dragging, slowing Cosmina’s flight to a mere trot. “Not… oh fuck! We have to help them!” She spun on a dime, scrambling back down the hallway. “Loooove? Hazel? Are you okay!?” She peeked one horn around the corner to scope out the hallway.
Don’t panic. Don’t panic. If you panic you will die. Jenifer repeated to herself until she could think. She considered her options as swiftly as she could. Flight was her first choice, but where to? She had no idea how many armed men were here or where anybody was. That meant going for help in the security office was out. If there was nobody there, she would be trapped in a small space. She could also try going for her room. Her halberd waited for her there. But it was a long run. The longer she had to go, the riskier it would be. Her best option was the entrance. It wasn’t far from the kitchen, so she could be out before they escaped.
Then what though? She thought she could make it to town. It was cold, but her magic let her deal with that. Could she get help? That was her only choice right now. She waved her hand and in a flurry of snowflakes, four strange creatures appeared. They were something between rat and lobster in shape and size, with thick white fur over manifold limbs. Leathery wings like a bat’s flapped furiously and they swarmed Jenifer immediately. “Nonono, no time for that! Mommy needs to run and I need you to guard the door. Bad men are going to come through and mommy needs you to stop them for her. Can you do that?” She asked, and all of them looked at her with eerily human eyes that seemed to understand perfectly.
“Good! I’ll be back for you!” Jenifer yelled, running down the hallway for the entrance. Her summons flew up to the wall just above the iced-over door, watching it closely. From their bulbous abdomens, ice blue stingers an inch long emerged, dripping with venom the color of antifreeze. They quietly chirped and sang amongst one another as they waited for the fools who dared hurt their mother to pass below.

The mist surrounding the gem person swirled around with the whirling plants, a voice echoing through the area. “Well look at who has tricks! What’s next, gonna grow a fungus out of your nose and shoot spores at me?” Yamiko mocked from afar. “Now just stay there like a good boy, and we can both dance through this misty ballroom!” Suddenly, Yamiko’s image appeared directly to the plant mage’s right, twisting her arms in a wave pattern and summoning 15 double-ended maroon knives that swing toward the mage in a curved pattern. Yamiko them proceeds to skate around the plant mage, summoning 5 similar knives every 5 seconds and sending them in the same pattern. The demented magical girl aimed to make a complete circle around the plant mage, keeping an eye on his spinning plants.
--------
“Uuuuuuugh, you’re so dumb!” Kate growled at her sister. The strange person appeared to be knocked out at least, but now she was shouting down the hallway! “Stop yelling!” Kate quiet screamed at Cosmina. “You two still there?! Work your magic again!” Kate whispered to the spot where Loveline and Hazel had been, trying to become invisible again. Kate was one comment away from putting her hand over Cosmina’s mouth.

I didn't see dinosaurs either, I don't know how old do you think I am - The man said raising one of his eyebrows while having a stoic face. When the other moved again, Vladimir stepped in one of the circles. When he realized his error, he was teleported once again into another. He needed to be careful to not be teleported again, as well the sword was still going after him. It wasn't time yet to confront this man using the spellbook... no, it would be to naive to show it in front of another magician. Not that he would be able to read it, but one of the last Treasures of the Kingdom needed to be safe at all cost even if it was a great weapon.
Such power and you are using it to destroy the lifes of innocent children? Don't you know magic comes with a price? - As he ran to avoid the sword, the ex-paladin created new pentagrams that surrounded the other man at a considerable distance, these began to spin without apporaching him.
As Vladimir was getting more annoyed by the headache and the blind path the other has chosen to serve these wretched men, he was losing control of the strenght of his movements. And suddenly, some of the pentagrams began to shot thunderbolts that aimed towards the man, some others summoned new spears that were covered on fire and finally, the biggest pentagram that was at top of the others began to produce a torrent of air, increasing the speed of the swril and suddenly forming a tornado.

Ron got up from the electric orb and got into a fighting stance. The armor watched without making a move. Then he started running. And still, it didn't move. Then he launched a side kick and finally its arm rose up to the side to grab his leg. But instead, the heated metal bent under the force. The armor's wrist joints bent like paper and the leg struck it in the side. The side of the armor dented in. Had the arm not absorbed some of the kick's power, perhaps it would have even torn a part of the armor off.
The armor didn't appear bothered by this, however. Whether it was simply unaware of its state or if it didn't have the capacity to be worried, one can only guess. But it could respond to the attack. First, a punch to the head with the same arm that blocked Ron's kick. It was just a mockery of a punch, really. Its wrist couldn't twist properly and its hand wouldn't roll into a proper punch. It was closer to a slap with curled in fingers than a real punch. The second was an uppercut with the other, still magma-covered hand.
The flamethrowers melted through the snow wall, but the stream of fire didn't stop for several more seconds. When the flamethrowers finally stopped spewing burning death, they saw just a patch of melted snow. No burnt corpse anywhere in sight.
"Fuck, she's running away, Control." One of the men spotted Marceline's retreating figure. "She's too fast for us. Can Gabriel snipe her?"
"Negative. He's in position to support a retreat. Revealing his position is unacceptable. If she remains on the field, another group can handle her. Focus on the other enemy forces for now."
"What if she escapes into the hotel?"
"Then she will have fewer places to escape to next time. Now get back to work."
"Roger." Just as he said that mud rose from the ground and enveloped his lower body. "Fuck." His squad turned to engage one of the mages who attacked while they weren't paying attention.
The spellsword's circles threw the old man out as he'd intended, but Vlad still managed to outrun the swords. "Damn old man, show your fucking age!" The spellsword chanted again and more circles appeared near Vlad. Light swords came spewing out of them, making it a horde of blades chasing the old paladin down now, growing faster and faster with each second.
"Such power and you are using it to destroy the lives of innocent children? Don't you know magic comes with a price?" Vlad asked the spellsword. The man didn't answer. He was well aware of the price he was paying with each cast he made. But it was a transferable cost. If he could only hit Vlad...
Suddenly, pentagrams appeared all around him, circling and growing closer. Not hesitating a second, he stabbed the ground and a powerful light encircled him. Then came the onslaught. Lightning, flaming spears, and even a tornado assaulted him, battering his protective aura with way too much strength.
"Curse you, old fuck! How can you be this powerful!" He screamed with a strained voice. The light around him faltered and vibrated with every strike. It wasn't long before a spear went through a small gap that appeared in it. His body tensed from the pain and the grip on his sword faltered. But just for a second, then it tightened until his knuckles turned white. He had to survive this onslaught. He had to... But how long would it go on for?
The leaves kept Yamiko at bay. Or that's how it appeared at first. She suddenly materialized closer to him and started summoning knives while skating around him. The leaves started oving more defensively now, knocking knives down and away as they moved for the man, but they could only stop so many. Soon knives started getting through the cracks. With every successful stab, the leaves slowed down ever so slightly, making it easier for further knives. Until the man was a pincushion of knives. Then, his gem glowed. A massive arm, lean and long, covered in green tree bark sprouted out of it. A hand as big as Yamiko's torso grabbed for her. If it succeeded, it would start pummeling her into the ground.
Cosmina's yelling got no response. Yet when she turned around to Kate, she couldn't see her. Still, she could hear her so she was definitely there. As long as they were around where Love last saw them, they were invisible. Unfortunately, Love and Haze were long gone by now and couldn't hear them. Now their options should've been clear. Cower where they were, try to find the shelter on their own, or go looking for Love and Haze.
The door to the kitchen rattled harder several times. Then the sound of a radio came. The man who was going to shoot his friend informed his comrades that an employee escaped. "She seemed confused. I don't think she's aware of the situation outside. I'm betting she's going to the man entrance. Catch her." He put away his radio and grabbed a fire extinguisher from a wall. He used it as a battering ram until the door finally opened. He ran out, unaware of the wasps above him, his face covered in scratches and blood from the confrontation he had with his partner.
While Jenifer was running, a familiar sound reached her. The sound of breaking glass. But it came from behind her. She was getting closer to the entrance. Her hopes would be dashed when another man in combat gear come out from a corner. Almost as surprised as she probably was, he raised his rifle.
"Stop right there or I'll blow your brains ou-" He didn't get to finish his sentence before an invisible force pushed his rifle to the side. Then something black smashed into him. Hazel knocked him into a wall, leaving a small crack and knocking him out from the impact.
"Behind you!" Love exclaimed, removing her invisibility. Another man appeared behind Jenifer. Seeing his comrade, he didn't give out a warning of his own. He fired at Jenifer's legs. He wanted info on the kids' location, but she could talk even if her legs were shot.

It was a weird feeling, kicking melting metal. It was like striking a giant tube of toothpaste. Ron readily prepared to kick again, but an awkward swing came for his face. Its bizarre nature almost threw Ron off, but it wasn’t unorthodox enough to beat his reflexes, and he ducked right into the half-molten fist. There was a flash of heat and pain in his jaw and he fell on his back in a heap of wings and limbs. “You motherfucker!” He yelled, pushing himself back up. Fueled by rage and his knowledge of the armor’s current weakness, he was no longer intent on backing down. He jumped forward and spun, arcing the back of his heel at the armor’s helmet on the side where its arm was already weakened, hoping to batter through any defense it made.
In her mad panic, Marceline was seeking Arthur, but he was nowhere to be found, no matter how deep through the lines she went. “Arthur? Arthur!?” She yelled at every fighter on either side she came across, but none matched that little man who helped her so much. “Haruko!? Smith!? Jesus Christ, Chase! Anybody!” She fell sprawled in the snow, tears running from her solitary eye. Pathetic, pathetic, pathetic! She knew she was a coward, but she couldn’t do a think about it! Her body refused to move back towards those men with flamethrowers. She kept crawling until she was at the hotel’s wall. Her feet got back under her and carried her into the building. I could be useful here if any of them get in! It’s fine, I’m not just a coward! She justified, leaning on a wall and closing her eye until she calmed down.
Cosmina clapped her hands over her mouth when Kate ordered her to stop screaming. She blinked at the spot where Kate wasn’t and clicked her horns. Kate’s image appeared in the sonar, confirming her presence, but she was still invisible. “Love’s illusions are still up.” She whispered. She clicked more, but nobody else was hiding invisibly in the hallway. “We need to find them! There’s bad guys everywhere!” Cosmina spoke in a stage whisper.
The wasps continued chirping until the door began to shake. Their attention became fixated on the door, waiting for it to open. When it did, they still did not move, watching the man emerge. He was allowed to have a few steps before one of the wasps sprang for his back, single eye glaring frightfully. Many pincers like a lobster’s grabbed for his clothing to hold tight while its stinger swung straight for his spine. The largest of the group, the size of a bobcat to their house cats, dropped afterwards, seeking to fall right atop his head and stab at the base of his neck. The other two flew down, screaming into the kitchen to see what waited for them there.
Jenifer charged down the hallway, scrabbling on the tile wherever it failed to provide her enough purchase. Already she was panting, out of breath. Her most physical activity was standing up to clean and cook, not running for her life. She still had enough breath to scream when the man came sliding around the corner. She froze until he was very suddenly assaulted by something she couldn’t see. Her legs shook with sheer panic, mixing with relief in a deadly cocktail. “Wha-” She took a stumbling half-turn at the child’s insistence before a shot rang out and agony tore through her calf. Jenifer toppled with a scream. She looked down in shock and saw red blood spreading through her high sock and dripping onto the floor.
Jenifer's mind was slipping into delusions. She could only think about how her blood looked like spilled wine and how much trouble she would get in for making such a mess. “I’m sorry… I’ll… I’ll clean it up…” She mumbled, curling up to grip her pierced leg. Her mind was fading quick, retreating into a dark place, a forest cave, her den, lit only by the moon, that place of safety where she drug carcasses to feast, a place of blood and carnage ruled by her, the beast, the queen of the forest, long fingers tipped with claws, jaws like a crocodile, teeth like nails, the wound vanishes, closed by the stretching of the leg as the ankle elongates, her fur as black as night, coating every inch of her body in a matted mass like an overgrown jungle floor, vines of shag drooping everywhere. She howled, declaring this land hers, and pounced at the man who shot her. Her claws swung right at his belly, seeking to pull out the soft innards. Back to the cave, with the soft flesh. Blood and carnage and food and safety, she would have them.

I'm 444 years old! Not old enough for a driaochta! - He ran again, trying to evade the circles. Trying the evade the swords with his spear was getting more and more difficult, some even managed to hurt him, but thankfully he avoided the vital parts. Both of his legs and even arms were cut, he felt a siomilar pain back during the times of the civil war and when the craeture possessing Elatha tried to take his life. He noticed why he felt so angry towards these people, it reminded him from when he tried to take Prince Derek with him, but the only thing that he reached was the baby's blanket... He remembered the panic, being thrown in the freezing ocean, the defenseless prince in the hands of that creature, he felt the failure as a paladin, as a man and especially as the best friend of the child's mother. The reason of that wrath... such an incredible power and use it to create dispair, to take away children from their families, to throw them into an uncertain fate...
The physical and emotional pain was enough to reduce the strenght of his attacks, especially since his headache worsened - I'm not powerful - He said, taking deep breaths as he still tried to protect himself from the attacks...
Then a spear finally hit the spellsword
Just let me take it out... Don't breath, don't move... - The man said, a pentagram still protecting him, but as he noticed the attacks stopped the moment the spellword felt the pain, he noticed the grip loosened - Just... don't fight anymore... - Then the grip tightened - Even if you fight back... you already know the result... don't you? - The ex-paladin looked at the other in the eyes, knowing that the answer was as clear as water. The years of experience and grief could be seen on the eyes of the man that was now offering his help, part of his nature was like that, his own wrath almost made him forgot what made honorous a paladin, forgiveness.

“What’s the matter?! This your first time?!” Yamiko taunted as she watched with glee at the amount of knives sinking into his body. Yamiko opened her mouth to let loose another witty remark, when an arm suddenly exploded out of the gem and aimed to grab her. A wide smile spread across her face as she summoned a long maroon spear and grabbed on tight, letting herself get shoved backwards.
“There we are! You think I haven’t seen this shit before? Your fiery little friend was a neat little introduction to you freaks!” She snickered. Waving her right arm, Yamiko aimed to summon a long, thin wedge in the air and bring it down hard upon the arm, aiming to make it into an oversized guillotine. If that failed, she would continue to summon knives to stab into the arm.
---
A small pit formed in Kate’s stomach when she saw that Loveline and Hazel were gone, but that was quickly put at ease when Cosmina reminded her of the illusion, and by extension reminding her that Cosmina had sonar. “I know! Let’s walk around as quietly as possible! This way!” Kate whispered to her sister. The two of them then made their way down the hallway, Kate making sure that Cosmina’s horns were still upgraded to take care of anyone that might get in their way.

Ron’s spinning windup was so obvious, the armor had plenty of time to defend itself. Both arms at its side were ready to absorb the impact, but Ron’s leg dented both arms further and his heel struck the helmet. Some metal stuck to Ron’s foot, scrapped off by his attack. A pink light flickered through the new hole in the helmet. A small orb floated in the center. Faint tendrils of light attached themselves to the inside of the armor.
Despite the damage it suffered, the armor wasn’t giving up. It started wildly flailing both arms at Ron.
Inside the hotel, Marceline found reassurance. The lobby remained pristine despite the fighting outside. It was safe inside. No flames. No danger. That was until gunshots rang out. They were coming from various places. Some deeper inside, perhaps even in the buildings connected through the painted hallways. Some were coming from the direction of the stairs in the lobby.
The onslaught didn’t stop. It wouldn’t stop. Even with the damage Vlad took. The attacks battered the spellsword’s barrier incessantly. Soon another spear went through the barrier. Then a bolt of lightning. The swirling air destabilized the barrier more and more with its swirling.
It wasn’t long before the smalls holes and ripples in the barrier started widening. The attacks kept coming more and more, piercing and burning him until finally the barrier disappeared completely and he was exposed. The wind, spears, and thunder struck at his position all at the same time. The produced a blinding flash of light. When it disappeared, the spellsword was gone.
“DIE, YOU OLD FUCK!” He was right behind Vlad, thrusting his sword at the paladin’s back with wild hatred disfiguring his already badly burnt face.
The arm pushed against Yamiko with the spear stuck in its palm. Her guillotine dropped on it, pushing the arm into the ground and cutting into it, but failing to completely sever it. Her knives started dropping into it, but for every knife that hit the arm, a root burst from under it. The roots grabbed large chunks of snow and ground underneath it to toss at Yamiko while its second arm left the gem and came to grab her from behind.
The girls snuck away from the safety of Loveline’s invisibility. They went deeper into the resort, guided by Cosmina’s improved horns. Her upgraded sonar picked up all the activity ahead of them. There were people scattered in various rooms, some in pairs, others solo. And in a hallway farther away, she saw a larger group with one very bestial person in it.
The man ran out only to be beset by a monster. The first wasp crashed into him. It’s lobster claws gripped tight the shocked man’s clothes. But he wouldn’t fall so easily. Before it could sting him, he jumped for the wall. Turned sideways, he was aiming to scrape the creature off without letting it sting him. His rifle dropped to the floor though and the second wasp swooped down. He raised his arms to guard his head and received a sting. His arm started numbing already, but he swatted at the creature and reached for his dropped rifle anyway.
The two that flew into the room saw small splatters of blood around the counter leading to the bloody and bruised body of the previous hostage leaning against the fridge. Closer inspection would reveal he was still breathing, despite the blood. The situation was apparently a lot messier than it was dangerous for the participants.
Meanwhile, Jenifer had her own fight and she lost. Her inner beast consumed her and bloodlust overtook her. Loveline and Hazel backed away in shock. The man Jen’s new form targeted also backed away, especially when she lunged at him. His rifle took the slash at the trigger, ruining it and making the rifle useless. But the man pulled out his knife and tossed it at the monster’s heart. It would be useless in a melee against it, after all. He also pulled out his pistol, in case the knife missed its mark.

Ron wasn’t surprised by his strike being blocked. A tornado kick wasn’t his quickest attack, but it carried enough power to blow though the weakened guard he faced. “That the real you in there? Gotta say, you’re brighter than you act!” Despite his taunts, he was pondering morality. With such a bright, glowing weak point exposed, he could likely kill it now. But was it alive in a meaningful sense? He hadn’t seen any sign of greater intelligence, but that didn’t mean there wasn’t any.
Philosophy took a back seat when the robot began its wild flailing. He felt like an idiot when he took a hit and a massive idiot when a second knocked him on his ass. He was too used to real fighting styles to handle stupid random flailing. “Oh, that does it! You asked for it!” His rockets flipped back and fired full-force. He shot up, one boot aimed at the machine’s chin, like a dive kick from an impossible low angle.
Marceline was thrilled when the halls echoed with the sound of gunfire. She wasn’t a coward! She was here for a purpose!” She set her short legs to work propelling her through the halls until she skidded to a stop just outside the lobby. Her solitary eye peered around the corner and saw that she was late to the fight. A howling, hairy beast had just taken a knife to its chest, stopped by several layers of tough clothing and presumably her impressive chest. She screamed, a noise that began human and turned into a keening, painful siren.
Claws outstretched, she lunged again, trying to grab him by the wrist and pull his neck into biting range. Marceline slowly creeped out into the space, watching the fight play out. She’d let her eat this guy, then beat her up. Not like she could leave a werewolf running around in Arthur’s hotel. She’d just let her start eating and smack her in the back of the head. Easy. Then she saw who else was there. “For fuck’s sake! You kids get the fuck out of here!” She stepped fully into view, yelling at Hazel and Loveline. The beast’s wild eyes looked up at her from her current opponent, flicking over the blood on her clothes. “Ah. Ah, fuck.” She mumbled.
Cosmina’s scattered sound waves scanned her surroundings. “There’s bad guys everywhere.” She murmured, shuddering. More clicking found a particularly large group far around the corner. “We’re not going that way.” Cosmina pointed in the general direction of the large group and whimpered. “Alright… this way then!” She pointed in a random direction and marched straight into it.
The one-eyed wasp screamed in pain when mashed against the wall, releasing its grip to drop to the floor. Its brother was knocked aside, but not far. It jumped forward, putting its considerable bulk atop the fallen rifle. The one-eyed one charged up from behind, jumping to tackle the mercenary and sting him in the back of the knee. Their partners in the kitchen waved their feelers as soon as they saw their fallen target. They didn’t hesitate an instant before pouncing. They didn’t bother with stingers, just finding unguarded areas to dig in their complex mouths and feed.

Vladimir closed his eyes in the moment he felt the air changing, before the sound came out of his lungs, the spellword's location was already there. He motioned his body to face the other but as he knew he didn't have enough time, he threw his spear away and the sword went through his torso, piercing at his right side. He was glad he could prevent his lungs from being damaged however at least 4 ribs were broken by the force of the attack.
The ex-paladin swallowed his own saliva, glancing at the other's eyes once again - I could have helped you - He said before his blue eyes turned into a cold icy white, grabbing fiercely the spellwords arms with both hands. The wind and thunder that once were manifestated by his own magic, dissappeared in thin air as it returned to their owner, now electricity was travelling around the driaochta's body. The temperature was increasing, his grip did as well.
His final attack was a mere act of desperation, he didn't care for the side effects. This man has choosed already his path but Vladimir was determined to end it. His whole body flashed as if he was a thunder, the stronger one into the violent's storm. He felt his body burning up, knowing that he could survive his own element, he was sure this would finish the other. He wasn't proud, and after that attack he'll be exhausted but was worthy.... Right? Maybe not... He just wanted it to end.

“Oooh?” Yamiko asked with interest, watching as each impact her knives had with the arm sprouted more roots from it. Yamiko cackled as she summoned a rectangular block of mana, letting the snow crash harmlessly against it. “Is that all you have for me?! Muahahahahaha!” Yamiko continued to laugh, not noticing the second arm emerging.
The arm managed to catch her off guard, grabbing the demented idol and stopping her in place. “My my my, aren’t you a clever one? But we’ve been in this position before!” Giving a toothy grin toward the arm, Yamiko began to dissipate into mist once more. Taking one last look at the gem before completely disappearing, Yamiko raised her hand upward, a glint in her eyes. Far up, a deep red mana construct shaped like a double-edged sword barreled through the air, tumbling like a pinwheel as it approached the man and his gem. Yamiko aimed to make this flying blade slice into the arms, this time with more force than the guillotine.

The floating orb didn't even blink in response to Ron’s provocation. Its flailing didn't stop when Ron was knocked away. Only when he charged at it did it stop, raising its arm to defend itself not realizing its state was so poor Ron would just power through. And power through he did, blowing away the armor stubs and knocking it into the air. The orb finally gave off a noticeable reaction. It flickered like a dying lightbulb before popping out of existence, sending pieces of half-melted and badly damaged armor scattering into the snow.
The snow sizzled, vapor rose, until finally there was calm. Yet that was only a battle. The war still raged close enough for Ron to notice. Amid the explosions and flashes of mage-on-soldier action, enough of their leaders stood for the fight to go on.
The man moved his hand just fast enough to avoid being grabbed, but the long claws cut through his fingers, dropping them to the floor along with the gun. The adrenaline coursing through his body stopped the pain from reaching his brain, but he would never get a chance to appreciate that small blessing with his gullet torn open by sharp canines.
Hazel stepped in front of Loveline to protect her in the werewolf turned her attention toward them. This snapped Loveline out of her shock and she started thinking about what she could do to turn Jenifer back. Marceline's yell didn't help her, making it worse by drawing Jenifer's attention instead.
"Marceline! Wait, don't kill her! She's an employee! We need to calm her down somehow!" Loveline yelled. For the moment, the best she could do was distract Jenifer by trying to give her the illusion of bullets striking her in the back and another enemy standing behind her.
Vladimir's body sparked and sizzled. Electricity shot out of him like thunder, striking the spellsword with its heavenly might. All of that power without a barrier to block or even dull the hit sent the sorcerous swordsman into the distance. His body twitched, but the badly burnt husk was merely reacting to the electricity still in his body. The man was already dead. The paladin was left with no enemy. For the moment.
The dark magical girl's attack cut through the air, approaching the gem with enough force to cleanly cut through it. But the elemental wasn't going to allow that, A giant arm picked the body up and moved it, the creature essentially carrying itself to safety. It hopped with one arm while carrying the body with the other, clearly trying to run from the wicked sadist rather than die. But surely it should've known that there was no way it could escape her...
If she'd paid attention, Cosmina would've recognized the large group featuring a humanoid wolf creature also featured shapes that looked like Loveline and Hazel. Her decision instead showed her the rest of the resort. A few people were still scattered around the first floor. A very large group, the resort's visitors, were several feet underground, none the wiser to the current goings-on. And many floors above someone was zipping around really quickly, meeting up with others right before said others either flew into a wall or through a window.
"Pull back. Our forces in the resort are failing. We're being torn apart," the assailing gangsters received this order through earpieces. The mages outside were terribly powerful. The individuals battling the assault force leaders were also too strong. Two of them just fell and the elemental gem was already weakened enough to bring out the spriggan. "Alain, you especially have to move. That mist demon is too strong. We're sending in plan B." Those instructions caused the spriggan to pick up its unconscious host and start running to safety.
A woman in golden armor stood upon a cliff nearby, watching the battle shift into the enemy's favor through a half-broken kitsune mask revealing the corner of her mouth. Given the instruction to join, she brandished her metal staff with three paper charms attached to a loop at the top. She plucked off the charms and placed them on the ground. Onmyouji symbols adorning her armor glowed when the charms started unfolding in ways they should've have been able to. It was more like they were turning into giant origami taking different shapes. One turned into a large paper bird, another into a snake, and the last grew into a giant beehive before being torn into small bee-like chunks. The three shikigami joined the battle.
While Ron stood victorious, the snake approached. Hidden in the snow, it approached silently. Then, it lept out, sharp fangs aiming at Ron's face.
While the exhausted paladin caught his breath, the sound of buzzing reached him. A swarm of paper bees surrounded him, watching for the slightest twitch to swoop in and sting him.
While the sadistic magical gloated and got ready to chase down her prey, a strong gust of wind blew in. The beating of the bird's wings was made to disperse her fog.

Ron shielded his face when the robot splurged its red-hot bits of steel across the snow. His jets kept pushing him forwards through the swarm of flaming shrapnel, leaving deep scars in his armor. He only stopped when he was well clear of the battlefield, turning to gauge the situation. From here, it was obvious that the enemy forces were falling back. No reserves or traps were in view from up here, so Ron made a quick decision. He shot back down in the rear of the army, landing right on the chest of one fleeing soldier and quickly clipping another chin with a spinning kick. Ron was ready to knee another guy in when a green bolt burst from the snow at his feet. He didn’t see what it was before its fangs penetrated his mask. Ron felt two firey points of pain in his forehead and immediately swung his wing blades at the body of the snake clinging to him. His nanobots should clear out any venom before it hurt too bad, but he was going to have a swollen face for days regardless and this thing had to pay for it.
“Oh, screw that.” Cosmina wrinkled her nose at what was above. “Come on, there’s a monster this way, but Love and Hazel are over there too!” Cosmina grabbed Kate’s wrist again and began to run.
“Employee!? You hire dog monsters around here!?” Marceline yelled. Jenifer snarled, slowly circling. She clawed the knife from her chest, letting it begin its rapid healing. Food was at her feet, rapidly dying. She wanted to eat, to pull out what was inside him and put it inside herself. But there were threats. One yelled, angry, splattered with blood. She smelled like death, an impossible being. She made Jenifer’s fur stand on end, made her whole body twitch. But to flee was to abandon food, so she hunkered down. The tension only rose higher when two more walked into the room. Her ears stuck straight up and she swung her head to look. It was another! Another who smelled dead. Her blood was running cold, panic building.
She just wanted to eat! She just wanted to eat! Go away! She clawed at her uniform, trying to show off her flared fur that made her look so much bigger than she was, but the purple mesh underneath only frustrated her claws. Her rage and panic built as she faced the tiny dead girl firmly and roared, a noise that shook the windows and forced the little girl to her knees, covering her ears. Pain suddenly exploded on the back of her skull and she dropped to her hands and knees. The other one was upon her! The one with one eye! Yelling, aggressive now! Jenifer pushed herself off the ground, latching onto her and rolling across the floor.

Vladimir felt his body starting to get more and more fatigued, his breath was heavy despite of the snow, he felt as if he was burning. He prayed from the bottom of his heart for forgivness, and ask Heaven for the man to be reborn in a better life where fighting didn't had to be learned. He then heard it... buzzing, he knew that sound that reminded him of spring... He avoided moving, holding his breath the paladin remembered the words his childhood best friend told him once.
"Tulip, did you know that bees can't see too well, but can tell how are you moving? So if you have a mean intention to them, they'll try to sting you" Those were the words Elatha said back when they were just 11, she was carrying flowers with her, bees flying around too. He was scared that she and he himself got skinged. But the bees never considered them a threat, however, for their other friend Jeremy who accidentaly hitted a three, he got chased by them. And as they walked back to the kingdom he was complainin after having to soak himself in a river.
He thought for a second about the best turnaround for the situation. He could teleport meters away to catch his breath. Maybe the bees would follow him anyway, but it was better to take care of his own body for at least a minute. And so he did, teleporting to at least 10 meters away, the paladin ran to have more distance as he summoned another spear.

“Is that all?” Yamiko asked, looking at the fleeing elemental with disdain. “Who said you could run from me?!” With a cackle, Yamiko’s body turned to mist once more, shooting toward the fleeing elemental...until a sudden gust of wind blew her off course. The magical girl quickly turned herself back into a human to see a giant paper bird flapping its wings in her direction. She looked on with disappointment.
“Oh come on! That thing’s paper! Who the fuck has fun fighting paper?!” She yelled to nobody in particular. With a sigh, Yamiko kicked off a nearby rock and rocketed toward the bird, waving her arms in an arching motion to create two half circles that quickly inverted themselves, two handles forming at the bottom. “Hah! Scissors beat paper!” She called out, attempting to slice the paper bird in half with her giant pair of red scissors.
---
Not having sonic powers of her own, Kate grumbled with Cosmina suddenly changed directions and went back to where Hazel and Loveline were, apparently. “Pick a direction, or tell me what’s going on!” Kate said with annoyance, but followed. A monster? Picking up a nearby orange, Kate began to upgrade the acid inside to be far more potent. If they were to get attacked, this would hopefully distract the monster enough for them to figure out another plan. Wasn’t Love super strong already?

Ron's blade cut the snake as it jumped away, but there was no blood. The snake didn't show any pain as it burrowed in the snow. Beneath the white covers, it moved. It circled around Ron and lept out from behind to smash into his head. Then it would go back under and start running away from the bug-themed cyborg, leaving a trail of pushed-up snow in its wake. --- The bees were not dissuaded by Vlad's teleporting away. Instead, they gave chase, splitting into two groups, making themselves a more difficult target for whatever magic the exhausted paladin could use. Though rather than attacking him straight away, the bees got around him. If he kept running that way, he'd be stung regardless of his intentions. It was as if they were corralling him. --- The bird dove down, letting Yamiko fly over it. Landing on the ground, it flapped its wings to raise up a snow cover through which it rushed towards Yamiko, aiming to grab her and pull her elsewhere. --- The kitsune-masked woman covered a paper talisman with snow and waved her hand, all signs of the snow having been tampered with disappearing. Then she stepped back and prepared to look menacing for when her traps were activated. --- "No, no, she's the woman from the plane." Love told Marceline. "She got shot and I guess that brought out her werewolf form."
"Maybe she'll go back if she calms down." Hazel suggested.
"Yeah, but how would we..." Love suddenly remembered the vial Janifer had before. Before she could even complete her thought, Cosmina and Kate showed up. "Perfect timing you two! First, don't hurt the werewolf! Second, Cos, can you find a small glass vial with your sonar?. Katie, if she does, do you think your power can, like, upgrade the contents into there being more of it? So we'd have more chances to use it?" Loveline's idea was simple. Jenifer used it claiming it would prevent her transformation. Maybe it could also be used to pacify her. If that didn't work though, they needed spare potion which Kate could try upgrading into a more potent version.
