Jenifer used the hook on her weapon to pull Amelia away from harm's way. "Maybe let the girl made to take a hit stand in front, okay?" She yelled as she passed, charging one of the dreadful creatures with her halberd's point. She sought to pin it to the wall for somebody with a bit more damage output to handle. Hammond stayed behind, unable to enter the door past Jenifer anyway. Her weapon was long enough she could reach the other wall with it without entering the room. He put only his gun arm past her to fire a shot at the other creature's head. His hand flew backwards and a nice, neat hole appeared in the wall. "I just realized I don't know how to use a gun!" He declared, backing away. Jenifer seemed to have this anyway.

"Hey, I am the second most durable one here!" Amelia exclaimed as she was pulled out of harm's way from the abominations charging at them. Jennifer seemed to be trying to pin one of them to a wall, while Hammond was...doing his best. Drawing her sword, Amelia pointed her blade at the monster Hammond tried attacking and began channeling mana. "Let's see...Fire Bolt!" She yelled, summoning 3 basketball-sized fireballs that fire at the abomination in succession, Amelia aiming for the creature's head. If Jennifer was going to act as tank for one of the monsters, she needed to step up and be the tank for the other. Hopefully Hammond would learn how to use his gun...and quick.

There wasn’t a single thing Fumi liked about these monsters charging at them; their drawn, false faces with realistic, sewn mouths and the way their weapons just looked like massive, split scissor blades...it made her want to run as fast as she could away. Thankfully, the two front-line seemed more than ready to fight the creatures.
The doll with the shorter, torn hair wasn’t much to fight against as Jenifer successfully rammed her halberd through its torso that gave away strangely like flesh. Its unmoving mouth tore at the seams of its stitches as if to mirror a scream, but it wasn’t dead. When Jenifer was still just close enough, it lashed out with its two arms in a scissor like motion, intending to inflict pain back two fold.
The doll with the longer hair, completely missing from the left of its bare head, swiped out to cut apart one of the three fireballs aimed towards it. It worked for one, but not for the other two. The moment it landed onto its head, the doll’s head was engulfed in flame and it started squealing at the top of its makeshift lungs. However, in a frenzy, it still approached and wildly slashed forward, intent on getting anyone in its blind way.
Fumi absolutely hated the screaming the doll on fire was making, causing her to squint in pain at the high pitched sound. They couldn’t let this continue! Sure, Jen and Amelia seemed to have it slightly under control, but it would take forever to finish them at this point! Sucking in a breath until her chest felt entirely full, attempting to smother her fear, Fumi tugged her hood tight and slipped to the side to blend more into the shadows. Suspend her disbelief and play her part...she could be out of here in no time.
Her free hand grabbed the other knife on her hip and with a moment to gauge the distance, she threw like she’d never thrown before, aiming towards the moving mechanism in the doll’s leg. With a solid, metallic clang, it landed and wrenched the moving parts, making the flaming doll topple over with its handicap. “It’s free game, kill it!!” It writhed on the ground at its handicap, slashing hectically in all directions, carving thick lines into the ground as it tried to stand. Now it wasn't only blind, but its best mobility was hindered!

Jenifer was surprised with how much success she had, right before she was surprised by the creature's reach. Its odd blady hand dinged her in the head. It rattled her, but her helmet took the majority of the force. She wasn't sure where it put her hair, but she was glad she had it. She pulled back and raised her halberd up before dropping it for the monster's scalp. Behind, Hammond edged up behind her, this time holding his gun in both hands. "Okay, I got it this time!" He took an accurate shot this time, aiming for the body of the burning monster Amelia dropped with her fireballs.

The fire mage raised her sword to block the flaming creature's wild charge...but Fumi's knife caused the monster to fall over and begin writhing on the ground. Seeing as Hammond had his gun aimed to finish off her target, Amelia looked over to the one Jennifer was fighting and dashed over, raising her sword to cut the creature's right arm off so its ability to attack Jennifer would be halved. She didn't use any mana this time, wanting to conserve it for the boss monster and having already used some on the other doll creature.

The awful hacking it was taking caused the doll by Jenifer to finally collapse as its head caved in, its side ripping in half as both her, and Amelia, tore it to shreds. The head gave with a crack of something similar to porcelain and a thick, black ooze splattered outwards from the attack while cogs and various other mechanisms seemed to drip from the gash midway through its head. It jerked as if fighting for its last breaths, but it proved fruitless when you’re missing half your head and the other half of your body. The high pitched whining gurgled out as the black liquid trickled from between the stitches of its mouth and then, it simply ceased to move while it dropped to the floor.
The body of the monster Hammond shot died in a similar manner, but the hole in its chest revealed more than simply mechanical composition. There was a beating heart, black and oozing that seemed to thump frantically as the creature writhed from a mixture of pain in its leg, pain in its head, and now an open chest that whirred, whizzed, and frantically looked for breath. It seemed like it could take about as much as the other did and slowly crumbled all together , its head still crackling as the ends of its hair burnt completely off, trying to take its faux skin with it.
With the two defeated, they suddenly dissolved into dark, bubbling puddles against the floor that seeped into the floorboards until all that was left to show there was even a battle, was the marks on the floor, the blood on the interior, and the scorch mark where a certain monster’s head once shook around. Fumi’s knife also clattered to the floor, surprisingly unscathed.
Fumi finally felt like she could breath as she sat on her knees, sighing shakily. That...was an ordeal. Seeing those creature’s in her orphanage’s old outfit definitely shook her, but thankfully...that seemed to be where the comparisons stopped. The children had been awful, but they’d never looked or acted like THAT. “Man…” Hefting herself back up, Fumi walked to get her knife and before she could make it even halfway, through the floorboards the black ooze appeared once more. Immediately back on the offensive, Fumi tensed up and began to fall back as the mass coagulated together, becoming thicker and smaller than their prior enemies; swimming in among itself, it looked like it was making an object. The black mass suddenly stopped and fell to the floor in a solid shape; a chest!
“Is that… a treasure chest? Our reward...maybe?” Fumi mused while cautiously edging her way closer to get both her knife.. .and a better look. She didn’t quite trust anything from this place, but the idea of a treasure really made her antsy in any capacity. She wanted to open it~!!
“I assume so . This whole place is like one dumb video game, isn’t this what happens in those? Do some stupid fight, get some stupid reward.” Iris chimed in from the back, having casually leaned against the wall the whole time. She figured she’d only help when it was needed and these low level creatures shouldn’t have hurt anyone, and it looked like they didn’t. “Well, what are we waiting for? Let’s open it so we can get a move on.”
The black, tarry chest, when opened, revealed one bit of gear for everyone. Whoever opens the chest would send a feeling of replenishment through the team as they gained enough experience for their first battle to gain their very first 'level'. On top of it, a small bit of gold would find its way into player's bags, or pockets, split among them all. The gear inside is situational, but in Fumi's case it was a ring and for Iris, a new necklace. Aside from that, there seemed to be a handul of cog wheels and assorted doll limbs;useless and broken junk. Seemed this box was for junk and accessory drops.
Fumi furrowed her brow slightly as she held the ring she was offered; it seemed to be some kind of black metal with a strange, metallic tint to it. She managed to fit it over her gloved finger...but there didn't seem to be anything else to it. It was pretty though!
Iris, on the other hand, looked disgusted at the jewelry she was given. It didn't go with her outfit at all; a blue, glowing pendant with a shiny, gold chain. The inside looked as if the glow within were swimming around. Iris just pocketed the ugly trinket in one of her golden pouches.

Jenifer breathed deeply when the monsters died, not aware until just then she was holding her breath. "No more rooms, please." She muttered. "We did great! And look, loot!" Hammond pointed to the chest before them. "Hopefully loot..." Jenifer cautiously reached her halberd out to lever it open from a distance. It popped open easily and with no harm, revealing some simple junk. Despite the dullness of the chest, she felt a sudden rush. She was alive! No, it wasn't just that-had she leveled up?
"I think I just leveled up. You guys too?" Hammond said, pushing past to check out the gear. "Aw, it's just aesthetic. I was hoping at least for a mana potion to top Amelia off." He picked up an old fashioned chain watch and tossed Jenifer hers. She had a cross shaped medal with a red ribbon. It clung to her chest with no apparent attachment mechanic. Jenifer experimentally took it off and put it back on a few times. This place still took some getting used to. "Alright, let's check out the next room." Hammond made confident strides across the hallway.
"Wait a second, that was horrifying! Why would we go into more!?" Jenifer demanded. "Because we can only get stronger by doing it. And would you rather pass them all, then get ambushed by every single monster from every single room at once?" Hammond put a hand on the doorknob and Jenifer reluctantly stepped into the hallway. He made good points. She just wanted to smack his smug face with the flat of her blade a little.

The dying dolls made Amelia breath a sigh of relief, leaning against a nearby wall to catch her breath. That one fire attack did cost a little mana...how did potions work in this setting? Did she have to drink it all at once, or could she just drink a little to gain back what she had used? Reaching back to check...all she managed to pull out was a health potion. Strange...she definitely remembers buying both a health and mana potion...so where was the other?! It was at that point a glare appeared on Amelia's face.
Walking over and picking up a leftover necklace with ruby gems in it, Amelia glared at the tiny woman in front of her. "...you have something of mine. Hand it over." She said coldly, holding out her hand in front of Fumi. "You don't use mana, I do. So hand it over." The anger made Amelia ignore the sensation of leveling up, and the conversation between Hammond and Jennifer to decide if they wanted to face another room or not. Someone does NOT break her trust like this!

Fumi raised a brow when the red head approached her, looking rather irate. Not missing a beat, Fumi huffed and set her hands on her hips. "I don't know what you're talking about." A hug alone wouldn't fix Fumi's compulsions that she'd carried for years, but the show of how quickly Amelia was to assume it was her made her on edge. Of course nobody would trust her here, they were all going to judge her based off one accusation (even if that accusation was true). With a guarded expression, Fumi simply crossed her arms after that and turned away from Amelia; the only thing she did more than not getting caught, was never fessing up to it.
Iris was still in a bad mood over the ugly trinket she'd gotten when tensions began to rise between the girl with red hair, and the other who needed a haircut. Seemed there were more accusations going around and frankly, she didn't have the time to deal with it. Grumbling, Iris reached to the retreating rogue and wrapped her fingers in a firm grip around her hood, making a muffled gag leave Fumi as she whipped around, rubbing her throat. "Hey, what the heck?!" Clicking her tongue against her teeth, Iris simply loomed over Fumi with her hand outstretched, giving an icy glare. "I don't give two shits about what you steal from unrelated party members, but you're hindering any progress by taking from us. Give over the stupid thing so we can get a move on and get out of this stupid place."
Fumi stopped rubbing at her throat and narrowed her eyes in a slight glare, looking around at her so called "party". Giving a frustrated grunt, she reached into her satchel pocket and pulled out the blue potion, tossing it Amelia's way and turning her back to them as she walked out of the room. "Whatever, I don't care. I don't have to stay here and let you gang up on me."

"Noooo! Don't split the party!" Hammond insisted. "That's how everybody dies! Trust me, I know this stuff." Hammond stepped in front of Fumi to steer her back to the group. "Come on. We should all sit down and get to know each other a little." Hammond gestured to the beds. "Are you serious here? I want to get out of this nightmare. We can sit around later." She shook her Halberd to point at the end of the hallway.

Amelia was about to pull Fumi back herself, but luckily, Iris acted fast enough to avoid any larger potential for conflict. She caught the potion out of the air, placing it back in the slot in her cloak. The redhead glared at Fumi, annoyed at how indignant the girl was acting. Of course she would blame Fumi first, Fumi's entire class was based around stealing stuff, and they had been in close enough contact for such a crime to be committed during that hug! "Don't act like you're the annoyed one here just because you got caught. All the trust I had with you is now gone." Amelia bluntly stated to Fumi, nodding in Jennifer's direction.
"I agree, let's just move on and get out of this stupid place." She agreed, now expecting to be stabbed in the back next time by this shady girl. Like a wolf in sheep's clothing, Fumi was probably a wolf in puffy black hair, acting all cute but being a dirty, backstabbing criminal underneath.

"I never asked for your stupid trust! Clearly you didn't have any to begin with, automatically assuming it was me. If it hadn't been me, you'd have just been pointing fingers because I fit the profile." Fumi spat back before roughly pushing past Hammond, her good attitude from earlier ruined and her hands itching for utter trouble. Her desire to steal at this moment was so painfully present that she could feel it in each fingertip that she curled into her palms when her hands balled into small fists. "I don't want to get to know any of you, so let's just do as Iris says and get a move on."
Iris gave a disgusted sigh and simply walked past all the drama; she didn't want to be stuck in a room of tension, it was bad for the skin. "Just quit your childish bickering. You all suck, so let's forge forward. I have a lot of things I have to do and I'm not wasting my valuable time here any longer than I have to."
Fumi let out a frustrated sort of growl; she wasn't happy with anyone in this room. She didn't care for Hammond, she absolutely didn't care for Amelia, and she couldn't care for the cranky seamstress either. "Why do you act so high and mighty anyways! You're stuck here just like us, so quit acting like you're better!"
"I am better, there's no acting. I'm no delinquent with repressed issues. No little kid pretending to be a big boy. And I'm certainly not two girls dressed like...that." She wiggled her fingers slightly from her folded arms, looking with distaste at the armor she found clunky and unappealing.
"You know what!" Fumi stomped her foot on the ground angrily, swiping her hand to the side in a dismissive manner. "Fuck all of you! This is my personal hell and I don't need a bunch of people who I don't even know, or know what I've been through, insulting me! You're all awful and I'm not staying here a second longer!" She turned on her heel immediately and took off down the hallway, biting roughly on her bottom lip as she felt tears burning in her eyes. She hated this! She never asked to be here, never asked to have her most hidden and important history displayed on a platter; she didn't ask to be the way she was, yet here she was!! She wasn't going to travel with people who didn't care about her!
"Ahhh...that's a tasty little morsel if I've seen one." This time, Lilli didn't have to do anything to trigger her victim's feelings. They were squabbling like children among each other and it was brewing some absolutely divine feelings. So much anger and hurt. "Aren't you just a cute, little hurt thing. Silly little black sheep, abandoned from the herd; don't you know there's wolves in the wild where you tread?" She spoke in a light, lilting tone while tapping her finger to the bubble's side, pulling it away as a smaller bubble followed the movement out. Like dew on a blade of grass, the small bubble dripped without breaking and Lilli brought it to her mouth with a pleased sigh, lapping at Fumi's weakness before biting down once again.
The feeling of sheer fear the girl felt after brought a smile to the sadistic demon's face. Torturing this girl was going to be absolutely fantastic, she was so susceptible, so scared, like a rat scurrying in a dark maze. "Mm, I could use a little food coma after that. I don't want to dive in just yet..." She mumbled sleepily, snuggling back into the bathtub lined with sheets as her eyes closed. Bubbles danced around her, showing the scenes of what was occurring from multiple angles, and they simply bobbed around aimlessly while showing the scenes of discourse.
Fumi felt that feeling in her chest again , as if something put a straw into her chest and sucked all the energy and breath right out of her, except this time it was worse than before. Her entire heart skipped a beat and she collapsed not too far from their original location, but she'd gone through a few winds and turns in the place that didn't have the layout she was used to. She placed her hand over her mouth in an attempt to stifle the sudden rise of bile, but it proved futile and she found herself throwing up into the dirty floors. Her limbs were shaky, just like her soul and she felt like she could barely hold herself up. What was happening to her?!
For just a moment, something deeply shook Fumi. Was she...dying? Was this really how she was going to go; just as she'd always feared, alone in the dark with nobody but herself to rely on. The panic from these thoughts made her heart beat so rapidly, her breaths come in and out at a hectic and hellish pace, she had to clutch her chest just to feel like she was solid. Something to keep her anchored; she was okay, she was still alive, but she felt like she was about to have a heart attack!

Jenifer sighed and walked to follow Fumi. Nobody else was going to fix this mess. She came across Fumi quivering over her puke. Looked like things were worse than they looked. Jenifer sighed and leaned on the wall. "Hey. I'm probably not the best person to talk about this. I don't really have friends and I'm not very patient. All I can really say is that you're not the only one who feels like an outcast around here. I don't know if that will mean anything to you, but personally, I want to be friends with you." With that, Jenifer turned and walked back to the others. "What did you say?" Hammond asked, curious. "Nothing. We should get a move on. If she wants back in, she'll come back." Jenifer's face was hidden under her helmet. She was unreadable.

"It could have only been you! Nobody else has gotten close enough to steal crap from me!" Amelia yelled back at Fumi's defense, annoyed even more that the other person who did the stealing, not being stolen from, was getting ticked off at being caught. Rolling her eyes when the poofy-haired thief ran off, Amelia began strolling toward the doorway. "Let her go. We don't need someone who's going to hinder our progress through this shitty place." She said with spite in her voice, giving one glance down the hallway to see that the rest of the group had taken off toward the person who ran off. Great, more wasting time.
The sight wasn't pretty, almost exactly like the scene before of this girl on the ground. After all that had happened, Amelia now had the suspicion that this was all just an act too, a way to garner sympathy from the rest of the group. Not saying a word, the fire mage watched as Jennifer talked to Fumi, not saying a word in response. It was going to take a little more to get the lost sympathy back now.

Fumi wiped the back of her shaky hand across her mouth. Her stomach felt empty and still queasy, her limbs uneasy, and her head was starting to hurt; all in all, Fumi felt like she was coming down with a sudden sickness. Whatever was happening to her didn't seem to be happening to the rest and she just didn't understand, what did this world have against her? When Jenifer approached her, Fumi only offered a loud sniff as she tried to get some air back into her chest that felt incredibly tight and unstable, as if she'd fall apart if she didn't control the breath. "What a joke." She mumbled slightly, the only thing more sour than the taste of her vomit being the feeling of the words she spat out. Friends? What were those, she never had them and clearly didn't need them. These people weren't her friends, they'd proven that.
Looking to the yellowed and aged windows, Fumi just narrowed her tired eyes that stung in the edges. She should just leave, let these guys figure their way out...she didn't want to show the way anymore. They would have to go deeper in to complete the quest and she was tired of being swallowed whole by the building, tired of it eating away at a resolve she'd built up over years; this was her own personal hell, so why did she have to take them with her anyways? They could get lost for all she cared!
Iris, having followed the rest of the group, grew weary far faster than the rest of the small girl's attitude. Like a sniveling child not getting their way left and right, Fumi was just throwing time consuming tantrums and, in turn, wasting Iris's precious time. "That's enough. Quit being a child." She spoke up above the others, walking past the group and to the girl who still sat on her knees looking petulantly deep in thought. She grasped at the girl's hood again and pulled, causing another muffled choke as she stood with a struggle, shaking Iris's hand off with a loud whine as she opened her mouth, preparing to complain; the sound was cut off quickly with a loud smack. Iris's hand still lay in the air, palm turned and a red mark spread across Fumi's face, leaving a beyond shocked girl standing. Fumi looked to Iris with tears welling up in her eyes as she rubbed at the mark. "Why..would you do that?" She cried out as her tears began to fall, rubbing still at the mark with one hand and at her eyes with the other as she sobbed slightly. "Because you're being a huge fucking child." Iris's tone was as nonchalant as ever, but her gaze dared Fumi to tell her she was wrong. Advancing on the girl, she scuttled back against the wall until there was no space left to run; Iris leaned over slightly so they could be face to face and she dropped her tone. "I don't have time for this and clearly, you don't either. You're getting worse in here, anyone can see that; how badly do you really want to die in here anyways?" Fumi, sniffling loudly, opened her mouth to speak, but was simply cut off again. "You don't, nobody wants to die in a shit-hole from their nightmares. So, if you'd like to stop playing a petty victim for the rest of this mission, we can all get out of here and THEN you can complain and whine. But until then, get your shit together." Iris backed off from Fumi and stood with her hand on her hip, looking to the others with a 'tsk' leaving her mouth as she spoke. "I hate kids."
A loud churning suddenly took the house, like clockwork beneath the floorboards. The walls creaked, windows cracked, and slowly the halls began to shift once again. Fumi, with her head down and hidden from the others, was still quietly sniffling to herself while rubbing at her eyes with one hand, the other clutched to her side. Dropping from the ceiling just a few feet away was a ladder with rickety steps, leading upwards into the upper floor of the house; its musty scent was familiar and it filled her with an ever-growing dread. "The attic." Fumi weakly mumbled. The attic could only be the pinnacle of her nightmare...and if that were the case, it was also the "Boss Room." It was up to the group now to decide; would they challenge and finally end this portion of the nightmare?

Jenifer and Hammond clutched the walls when the hallways shifted. They both stared in awe at the descending ladder. "Well that looks... final." Jenifer looked up into the darkness, probing with her halberd. "Can't be. We just started this dungeon. Fumi, you know this place! What's up there?" Hammond called to the uncooperative teammate. They were having a group talk after this. He couldn't have people just running all over the place.

Iris's sudden slap to Fumi's face made Amelia wince slightly in response, the hit sounding a lot worse than it probably actually was. While Amelia normally didn't like tactics like that...she couldn't help but get some sense of satisfaction by seeing the thieving one get slapped back out of her crying stupor she had. Note to self; don't get on Iris's bad side. Walking up to the group, Amelia looks up at the attic, holding the torch up to try and see anything that seemed out of place.
"Looks final to me, too. Alright Jen, you take point and I'll follow right behind." Amelia told Jennifer, turning back to the group. "It's probably going to be dark up there, so which one of you wants to hold the torch while I fight?" She asks, holding the torch out for Hammond, Iris or Fumi to take. Jennifer and herself were the main damage-dealers, so one of them should have the ability to provide some light if needed.

"Going now is stupid." Iris commented dryly, flexing her fingers that stung slightly from the slap. "We aren't ready for this just yet. Hey, crybaby, take that torch." Gesturing to Amelia's out-held hand, Iris crossed her arms and stood with her pointed, guarded attitude clearly showing through. Fumi, still quiet and surprisingly pacified, immediately listened to Iris's demand and took the torch, though rather grumpily so, meekly and slightly pouty in her response to Hammond after. "I don't know."
"We should take some time to deal with some more rooms. Just having done one and expecting us to take on the entirety of the boss is a death wish, and I don't know about all of you, but I have too much to live for and I can't die here." Having given her two cents, Iris finally silenced and leaned against the nearest wall, looking down to her nails with slight disgust as she imagined the wear and tear they'd slowly develop in here...she'd have to schedule a manicurist appointment for sure after this hellish nightmare...if this carried over, that was. Looking back up with her typical glare, Iris waited to see the rest of her group's opinions on the matter. Their supplies and mana were limited...but going in her mind, it was better to risk gaining experience than to flat out die in a fight they couldn't handle.

Hammond nodded. "I agree with Amelia and Iris. We need to level up a few more times. Amelia, do you have any area of effect attacks? We can use that to clear a small room. Jenifer will cover you and I'll shoot anything that lives." Hammond laid out a plan of attack, then realizing it left two out of the equation. "Iris, you make sure our tank stays standing and Fumi, backstab anything that gets past her." Jenifer shrugged and lowered her halberd to point it at a door. "Sounds good to me. Even if Amelia doesn't know anything that blows up, I'm sure you and her can shoot them up if they come at me.

Blinking in surprise at how Iris seemed to become the new group leader, Amelia turned her attention to Hammond and placed her hand under her chin, thinking for a moment. "I do have an area of effect spell...but it takes a lot of mana. So we can't use it too many times, or I'll be pretty dang useless during the final boss." Stepping away from the ladder, Amelia finds a nearby door and grabs the handle. "I'll go first and launch the spell. Jennifer, run in after me and kill anything that lives, ok? The rest of you...uh...just follow what that guy said." She stated, not really great at giving orders. At least she has mana potions in reserve just in case they needed more time to fight these lesser creatures.
