"That's a little unfair of a generalization, don't you think?" Eri met Cadence's look with one of her own, matching the other's disappointment. "Humans have always done awful things for centuries, but they've also done amazing things. In times of war and suffering, the bright ones shine the most and the compassion and care among the good reach far and wide. Besides, no race is free of guilt from these kinds of things." Eri looked away as she leaned into her side of the couch, still twisting the forcibly curled strand until it almost resembled Christmas ribbons. "The fae have been terrorizing others, even themselves, long before humans even existed. Between stealing human children for fun, or luring them to their deaths for cheap laughs...or draining them of their lives simply because they can." Eri's voice seemed particularly clipped at the end and for once she possessed a look of pure distaste against her face and it didn't suit her well. "Regardless, humans do horrible things, but so does everything else. The only reason it's so poor on their part is because there's so many of them." Sighing lightly, Eri could understand Cadence's opinion on the matter, but her optimism towards them was just too strong.
"Why do you stay with this 'her' if she does that to you?" Eri turned her attention to Cadence's latter statement, looking with slight pity as she spoke so poorly of herself and the other mystery woman. Could it be the person who made her what she was as she'd mentioned earlier? What kind of a sick person creates living people out of the dead and forces them to do awful things like that...Briefly, Eri cringed as she thought of the days where black magic was particularly popular around Europe; those type of people did things like that. Laughing quietly and slightly awkwardly to herself, Eri could only shrug her shoulders lightly to Cadence's final statement. "It took a long time to form this attitude after I first came to the human world. Initially, I was blinded by my adoration for humans, but when I came out and saw what they could really be like...it was a bit disheartening."
The heavy weight Eri felt from her statement was tight inside of her chest, but dropped the moment the large creatures began to appear one after another. Their tags glinted brightly in the sun and as they progressed further, the tags became attached to more and more bizarre and even cruel creatures of the same nature. Watching the one flapping helplessly along the ground brought a particular sad and horrified feeling to Eri. Pressing against the arm of the couch and resting onto her knees so she could lean easier over the arm of the couch, Eri almost wanted to reach out and touch the poor creatures, but considering how their last encounter with one of them went...it probably wasn't a good idea. "Experiments..." Turmoil turned in her stomach and she sat back, uncomfortable, and watched the large creature who lead them with a new look of completely sympathy. "Poor guy...I would have run away too. I want to help them so badly...Who would do something like this?"

The plant doll listened as Eri explain how humans have also done amazing things to go with their atrocities...which was true...but Cadence saw that the negatives of causing countless species of animal to go extinct outweighed the benefits of having an abundance of supermarkets at every corner. Cadence herself could survive on purely sunlight and very little food...so the concept of needing as much 'stuff' as possible was baffling to her. But Cadence realized that humans were in perpetual competition with each other...so who knows, maybe they will find a way to sustain their own existence without the cost of other beings.
Eri's comments on her own species did interest Cadence slightly. So that is what they did...steal children, lure them to their deaths...and simply drain them of their life energy. "...I'm aware other races do horrible acts, too. But...the existence of other evil beings doesn't excuse the currently existing ones..." Sighing to herself, Cadence thought this was getting a little too depressing, so she figured it would be wise to bring up the mood a little. "...but I can admit that humans and fae have done good. I mean...humans helped that one island country out after that tsunami..." Cadence referring to the tsunami that hit Japan after the devastating earthquake that nearly caused a nuclear reactor to melt down.
Eri's question caused Cadence to pause for a second. How much would the rules in her string allow her to say? Might as well try and see what comes out. "...I can't leave, that is why...there are rules sewn into my body." Holding out her wrist, Cadence pulls out a tiny sliver of golden string, holding it out for the idol to see. This was a tiny piece of her soul string, the material where Cadence's essence was kept. "...so yeah...I have to go back every day or have severe brain trauma. Not fun..." Putting the string back, Cadence looked toward the other animals.
"...probably some scientist...not licensed...most likely..." Stopping right in front of them, the creature stepped to the side and motioned toward a small brown, wooden building in front of them that looked like a vacation cabin. The lights inside were turned on, and a strange animal noise could be heard coming from inside. Lowering them to the ground, Cadence steps off her bench. "...want me to take the lead...?"

"It doesn't excuse it...but it does show that the guilt isn't solely theirs. But yes, during a lot of tragedies, many good came out to help. During wars there were always samaritans. During depression there were helping hands. It's admittedly sad that it takes tragedy to make them bond...but baby steps." Eri did feel the soft sink of her heart too at the conversation, as much as she wanted to ignore what they'd done, the human race was truly a destructive one. She could love them all she wanted, but that didn't erase the eons of suffering they had caused and Eri had witnessed quite a lot of it.
Thankfully with the conversation shift, Eri now found herself looking at the shimmering golden strand with a slightly raised brow. So when she said sewn she meant...sewn. The way Cadence spoke about the situation left Eri feeling massive sympathy for the being that Cadence was. No say in what she got to do, it was like being enslaved and even though it was quite a stretch considering the lack of severity in Eri's case, Eri felt like she could sympathize enough with how her mother had trapped her under her own roof with the rules she was given. "So...you have no choice? I'm really sorry, Cadence." There wasn't much the idol could off poor Cadence. The girl clearly couldn't disobey if Eri was following her right... "If there's anything I can ever do, please let me know!!" She sprung back though with her overflowing optimism and she grabbed at Cadence's hands, holding them fiercely with her own while having a soft look of determination on her expression. "If you ever find yourself in a situation that gives you the means out and you need help, I'll do what I can, I'll be around plenty long enough!"
Eri dropped her hands though once their journey came to a halt. The appearance of the cabin was slightly less impressive considering Eri had been expecting something like a massive, metal construct...but it still left her uncomfortable. A simple cabin in the woods produced all these?? Hopping off of the moving bench, Eri paced past Cadence and very, VERY carefully placed her hand on the massive beast's side, speaking in the honeyed and caring tone she had before, only this time the feeling behind her words were extremely genuine. "Thank you very much for bringing us this far." Then, to Cadence in her normal voice, she spoke again. "Why not both enter at the same time, they may be expecting one, but not two!"

"...you don't really need to feel sorry...I'm already making plans to escape soon..." Thinking back to a few months ago, where Cadence met a lady that was surprisingly similar to herself. Tall, blond hair, intelligent, and could control plants just like Cadence could. She was in contact with that woman still, and hopefully soon, they could make a plan to set free both herself and her sisters...or just herself for now. Once Eri grabbed Cadence's hand Cadence made a small nod of response. "...I'll keep that in mind. Your word powers may be useful...thanks..." Cadence mused, thinking that perhaps this girl's power could perhaps distract the other dolls long enough for her to get away. She knew that if she tried to run, Marika would send the other dolls after her...and she didn't want to fight her sisters.
Back at the cabin, Cadence began growing a few vines at her sides, ready to respond in case they were attacked once they stepped through the door. "...sure. Just let me keep my plants in front...might be dangerous..." And with that, Cadence pulled open the cabin doors...
...and saw that it was MUCH larger on the inside. All around them was a steel-plated room filled with various incubators carrying animals in various stages of development, from tiny eggs all the way to dog-sized creatures floating in suspension with wires attached to their bodies. The entire room was almost completely sterile, with nothing so large as a patch of dirt laying on the floor of the lab. "...clean..." Cadence remarks.

Eri felt uncomfortable in such a large, sterile place. Despite the atrocities outside, the only thing that really represented what happened were the assorted test tube creatures and those alone made her stomach queasy. Who would be doing this out here in the middle of nowhere; to answer herself, Eri just thought of someone who'd not want to be caught, obviously. "Seems like there was less here than we thought..." Her voice was low and quiet, not nearly as excited of boisterous as before. Truthfully, she could feel her hands beginning to shake, Eri never actively sought out danger before... "This place gives me the shakes." Rubbing her shaky palms along her goose-bump ridden arms, Eri looked to Cadence behind her with a look of worry and question. "Do you think whoever's here is...dangerous?"

"Hm...probably." Cadence answered back casually, not at all concerned about the potential danger of this place. Truthfully, Cadence had seen plenty of dead bodies from living with Marika, so finding these mutated creatures didn't surprise Cadence much at all. However, she did see that Eri's hands were shaking, indicating that she was nervous. Uh...how did she deal with nervous people before? Jane was pretty nervous sometimes...and seemed to wants hugs in that situation. Would a hug be appropriate here...?
...nah. Cadence merely gave Eri a reassuring look and began to walk through the lab. "...it will be fine...I will deal with anything here..." The plant doll states as she continued on her way. What strange creatures were in these tubes...some of them looking like a mess of traits from many different animals. After walking a few meters, the duo spots a large metal door with a red button next to it. "...maybe they're in there." She muses, casually walking toward the button.

Every tube they passed made Eri feel worse. She pressed her fingertips occasionally past the spotless glass, muttering quietly to herself about what a shame it all was. With a heavy heart as they approached the big red button, Eri slowly began to realize how the budding, ominous feeling in her gut wasn't solely due to the lament she felt over these poor creatures. This was the beginning of an omen on its own; the heavy feeling, the hanging dread, the tingling in her stomach...she'd have to control herself a bit better. Something told her that breaking tubes here by accident could end in disaster. "I don't like the feeling of this..." Cliche as it was, she was being truthful and she simply took Cadence's reassurance on this. Why were they even in here in the first place again?!

Ignoring Eri's uneasy feeling, Cadence presses the large red button on the door and the structure rises up into the ceiling, revealing a slightly darker room that had the same sterile architecture as the rest of the building. However, there was a glowing blue light in the center of the room, hunched over an operating table, where some appendages that couldn't be made out in great detail were delicately mixing different chemicals over a large glass plate resting on top of the table. Once the two walked in, the light glows even brighter, and drops the instruments it was using. Upon further inspection, the light was coming from a large glass casing resting on top of a body with long, squid-like appendages that were previously holding the chemicals.
"And just who...are you?!" It spoke out in a monotone voice, almost robotic-like in nature. The two of them couldn't see a mouth for the sound to come out of, but it still managed to communicate with them. "This is delicate work! So if you have no business, leave before I throw you out!" It yelled, the louder sounds sounding more static-induced than the softer tones.

Apprehension filled her as the large door suddenly rose upwards, each inch filling her with worry for whatever was on the other side. Yet as it parted the shadows, bringing with it the glowing lights within, Eri could only stand with a dumbfounded expression on her face. Looking to Cadence, she pointed her index finger towards the yelling contraption, ignoring its demands temporarily. "It's...a robot?" Then, to the creature, she cleared her throat slightly and spoke with the same pleasing style of voice she'd earlier used on the creature they'd followed here. "Um...s-sorry about the uh...intrusion? No need to get hasty here."

"Hm...maybe." Cadence mused at Eri's idea that the person in front of them was a robot. However...the strange mess of appendages on the bottom of the glass container did make Cadence think that it could be something more than just a simple robot. Upon hearing the sound of Eri's calming voice, the strange person folded two of its large appendages across its body, almost as if to cross its arms. "You still didn't answer me. Why are you here?!" It yelled, slightly quieter this time.
Cadence looked on calmly at the creature, pointing to the back door. "...did you make all these creatures?" Cadence asks, which gets the strange person's attention. "Yes, they are my wonderful experiments! You see, I've been combining the DNA of mythical monsters with actual animals to try and make entirely new species! But of course, they always fail to get the good traits and just become a flightless doof or something." It grumbled robotically, briefly turning back to the table.

So it did respond to her coercion...even if just barely. Did that mean this thing wasn't entirely machine as she'd once thought? Upon its rather callous explanation of the cause of the suffering creatures outside, Eri couldn't help but feel slight distaste at that moment. What a cruel way of thinking! Briefly, she dropped the pleasant, soothing nature of her voice and turned it back to the way it was before, her words struggling to try and garner some feeling or remorse from this contraption being. "You're making them suffer out there for the creation of a new species? They aren't flightless doofs, they're living you know! And you're hurting them!"

"But is that not the nature of experimentation? Trying the same procedure, but slightly modified each time until you get the desired result?" Turning back to the table, the strange person lifted up a large metallic firearm with a green tinted scope on the top, looking like some kind of sniper rifle. "Once they display that no more traits will emerge, I will put them down. Now..." Pointing the rifle at the duo, the strange creature's blue light began to fade into a darker blue color. "...I am tired of you two interrupting me. Leave now, or I'll remove in a bag!"

"You don't get to just experiment with life like that though, that's...well, wrong!" Eri pushed on adamantly, as if she were trying to change this thing's mind. However, when the gun was pointed at them, Eri couldn't help but feel a slight sting of irritation. Whatever this was, it didn't seem up for debate under any measures. Threatening their lives next, Eri huffed slightly at the audacity of this thing; first it tormented these creatures, then it intended to kill the others, and now them?! "Quit being rude!" She shouted, a little too loudly on her part, the sound was more like a bullhorn going off.

The creature standing next to the table shuddered for a few seconds...then completely stopped reacting to the noise. Moving one of it's tentacle-like appendages to the side, it pressed a small yellow button near the table and caused the room to be flooded with white light. Once Cadence and Eri's eyes adjusted, they'd see the full form of the person they'd been talking to; a strange glass-like tube that looked like an oversized casing for a light bulb sat on top of a wide metal circle, below of which sat 5 grey tentacle-like appendages that rested on the ground, keeping the creature upright. The glass tube on its head glowed a light red color now, pointing the gun at Eri.
"I'm being rude? I am advancing the world's knowledge. I can tell your voice is abnormal, so I turned off my hearing receptors!" Aiming the rifle at Eri, the light on the creature's head grew to a slightly darker shade of red. "I warned you, now you will leave by force!" Pulling the trigger, a thin red beam shot through the barrel and straight for the idol, moving at speeds many times faster than a normal bullet from a handgun. Luckily, Cadence had wrapped a vine around Eri's ankles once more, and pulled her out of the way of the laser. The shot went straight through the metal door behind them with a hissing noise, the area around the exit hole now burning hot.
"...ok." Cadence remarks, letting Eri's ankle go and summoning a wide array of spikes to try and spear the creature. But, with surprising reflexes, it twisted out of the way of the onslaught and fired a single blast that severed the vines in one blow. Growing more spikes, Cadence sends them out to try and entangle the inhuman creature.

Eri squinted when the light hit her eyes, temporarily blinding her. Rubbing quickly to try and rid her vision of the spots that permeated across her vision and when she adjusted, she was still just as confused as she'd been when she first saw the creature. What even...was that?! She had opened her mouth again to continue her childish arguing, but it seemed the time for talk was really over when it pointed the weapon at her again and the world was suddenly swept out from her feet once more.
Eri hit the ground with a loud exhale, turning quickly on her side to look towards Cadence at her side, sputtering out a thanks as she looked towards the hole that now sat in the wall. She was immortal, sure, but only biologically!! That would have been the end of her!! A million thoughts spun through Eri at that moment as she finally registered how dangerous this situation really was; if she died her, she'd leave behind far too much and she couldn't do that any time soon!
Quickly crawling to her knees, Eri crouched as she quickly spoke to Cadence. Since that thing couldn't hear her, she could discuss this quickly with Cadence! "My abilities come from my voice, but this thing can't hear me now, but if I make myself loud and high enough I might be able to crack that dumb glass dome it has...but it'll hurt you if I do that!"

The creature sliced apart the spikes coming for it with one pass of the rifle, slicing them all off their bases and causing them to come crashing back to the ground. There wasn't any plantlife Cadence could manipulate in this room besides the tiny bits of grass she brought in with her, so spreading out her attacks was challenging until she could grow these plants to a reasonable size. Turning her head to Eri, she nodded her head and pointed toward the area in front of herself. "...ok. Aim for him...I'll just block my ears behind you..."
As the scientist creature was slicing apart her plant attack, Cadence quickly sped-walked behind Eri and filled her ears with thick mossy plant matter, to the point she couldn't hear anything. "...you should do it now." She advised. The room was already being sliced to pieces, multiple holes coming from the laser rifle littering the walls and floor.

This was mayhem!! This dumb little machine was going to kill them all if he kept blasting his dangerous weapon around like that! The whole lab would come down at this point!
The thick smell of burning littered the room, mingling with the scents of liquid concoctions in test tubes that broke wherever he sprayed his hectic fire at and it almost made her ill to inhale it all, but she had no choice! With a deep breath as Cadence assured her of her safety, Eri felt her lungs fill to the point where she could take in no more air and with a quick adjustment, she bellowed out. Initially, unlike the sound she'd given to the beast before whose intent was to cause it as much discomfort as possible, the sound Eri gave now as trying to hit such an octave that it could shatter the glass casing around the strange, mechanical madman. It was loud enough to even be felt in the bodies of creatures around and the windows on the outside of the faux cottage shook with the warning of breaking; perhaps she needed to crank the octave a bit more!

Despite the plants blocking her eardrums, Cadence could feel the strong vibrations coming from the sound waves Eri was creating. The room itself shook from the attack slightly, with a few test tunes along the wall shattering and spilling chemicals all over the floor, beginning to produce a horrible smell. The glass around the creature also began to shudder, but not yet break. Holding two of its tentacles against its head, the robotic scientist aims the rifle directly at Eri.
Seeing the threat, Cadence grows a large wooden spike out of a nearby severed vine and knocks the rifle out of its hands, beginning to wrap other vines around its body. Hopefully a little more force could finish it off!

The smell was AWFUL, all Eri wanted to do was cover her mouth and nose from its atrocious scent, but Cadence was clearly giving it her all...so Eri had to as well! Wincing as she took her voice up another octave, she felt her control become looser and immediately the tone rose far beyond where she wanted it to. The windows outside shattered instantaneously, all at once as if a minor sonic boom rocked through the entire cottage; the creatures outside all began to cry and bray as the horrible sound reached even them, reacting as if attacked with a whistle that they could only hear on their wavelength.

The glass around the creature shuddered intensely, more cracks beginning to appear around it. Finally, with one loud explosion, the entire glass casing erupts into thousands of tiny shards that rocket across the room in all directions. Cadence manages to put up a thick wooden wall between themselves and the explosion, protecting the both of them from being impaled by the shrapnel. Once the smoke cleared, Cadence could see what remained of the creature; a shattered glass casing that was giving off a thick black smoke, and a base whose tentacle appendages were no longer moving.
"...looks dead. You should call some organization to sort these creatures out..." She states, assuming that Eri had a cell phone on herself. The plant doll took the moss out of her ears and flicked it onto the ground, looking over the dead creature's body.
