Dan looked up from Marceline when he heard Chase’s yelling. He was coming. “I don’t intend on harming her any further if you give my charm back.” He yelled back, walking towards the source of the noise. Before he made it, he heard something different, a rumbling in the walls. When the roots popped forth, he sighed. “Is this still all you have?” He swiftly formed energy bubbles and slammed them together, releasing a shockwave that shook the cavern and smashed the woody roots to toothpicks. Then Chase actually rounded the corner and his eyes widened in surprise. A shapeshifter? He had only seen that ability once… he’d enjoy this much more if he pretended this was the one from before. He rushed to land his fist in Chase’s stomach. Time to see how much this actually changed. Without moving a muscle, nothing prevents the full force of the blow from connecting against the creature’s stomach. Once the strike makes contact, a powerful air blast rips through the air. However, the monster standing before Dan doesn’t budge. In fact, the creature seems to ignore his opponent for the moment as it slowly stands upright while it continues to consume souls. After the old roots are destroyed, they are quickly replaced by a series of new roots, which continue to originate and connect to the beast through its legs and feet. The new roots waste no time to spread out and seek more souls. For the creature, it stares down the Avatar for a split second before its eyes burst in a hellish green glow. With incredible speed that could break the sound barrier several times over, the muscular monster swinging the back of its massive hand against Dan’s body. Dan only just raised his arms in time. The blow caught him full on and slid him backwards. He lowered his arms and cocked his head. How did this guy get so strong? Dan stopped questioning it and smiled. “Are you even still in there? Can you still fight properly?” Dan stepped in and threw a thunderous punch for Chase’s kidney. Without any indication to defend itself, the monster tanks the kidney shot and pushes forward even while Dan’s knuckles dig deep into the creature’s skin. If the lack of pain isn’t surprising enough, with unnatural flexibility and body movement, the large creature delivers an awkward, yet frightening quick, uppercut towards Dan’s entire torso in order to lift the man into the air. As the Avatar hangs in the air, the creature seemly vanishes, but only to almost immediately reappear above him. As the monster releases a short roar, it swings downwards with the same arm that launched Dan just a brief moment before. Winded, Dan barely managed to guard again, getting bounced hard into the stone floor. It didn’t help all that much, earning him another bruise on his arm and scratches on his back. He felt the first tinge of worry now. It seemed like he wasn’t doing anything. He saw Chase dropping and lunged up to meet him. He drug one elbow into Chase’s stomach as a lever and hooked the other hand between his legs and throw him head first at the tunnel wall. Pulling his head out of the wall, the enrage monster turns around to face his opponent. As his eyes locks with Dan’s, the creature drops his posture near the ground as it places a hand on the floor and bends his legs to resemble a weird blend between an olympic runner’s starting position and a bull preparing to charge. One mighty push later and the tunnel wall near the creature collapses as the beast tackles Dan head first and crashes the Avatar’s body into and through the opposite side of the tunnel wall. As Chase and Dan emerge from the rock wall, they enter a different section of the complex tunnel system underground. However they did not stay in this new section for very long as the creature continues to ram his opponent towards the opposite wall, where the monster smashes Dan through pure stone until they once again emerge into an entirely different section. Twice more they went through walls until they dropped into a wide basin. During their drop, the pair continue to wrestle and throw strike after strike against each other until they landed in shallow, slimy water that did nothing to break their fall. Dan landed on bottom, rattling his torso again. Dan struggled, but couldn’t get out from under the thrashing monster. His elbows and knees went unfelt. There were no reflexes to take advantage of. Dan instead pooled power in his hand and pushed it to Chase’s chest. The power bubble kept growing, pushing Chase up no matter how he struggled. Soon it reached critical mass and exploded. A chunk was torn straight through Chase’s torso, shaking the tunnel once more. Dan paused, worrying he had just killed the man as the beast fell to the side. Smoke slowly rises from the hole in the creature’s chest. Yet, surprisingly there is no blood gushing from the hole. A few pass after the energy explosion before the monster stirs. As the creature gets back to his feet, the wound begins to gradually close until there is no evidence left to indicate that the hole had existed at all. Consequently, the only thing that Dan’s last attack managed to do was to piss off the monster even more. Releasing another roar, the creature rushes at the focal point of its untamed rage. As Dan attempts to push the monster back with combinations of attacks, the beast simply ignores the strikes as its body quickly repairs any damage delivered by the Avatar. The creature violently grabs Dan’s face and proceeds to furiously slams the Avatar into the ground. With one arm applying consist pressure to keep him restraint, the other arm begins to morph. The muscles snap and repair themselves repeatedly as they continue to increase in volume and improve and evolve in definition. Eventually the creature’s arm transform to quadruple in size, while the power building into his arm has increased by more than tenfold. As the monster keeps Dan trapped under its hand, it gradually lifts the other over its head as it prepares to drop a thousand pound hammer fist. As soon as it releases Dan’s head with one hand, the other hand is swung downwards. Dan’s arms trapped, he did the only thing he could. He opened his mouth wide and from it poured a pure beam of force. It met Chase’s torso sized fist and briefly held it in place. Whatever happened next was lost in the burst of force that came out from the two combatants, tearing the floor they rested on into nothing more than dust. What feels like eternity passes by before the dense smoke disappears to reveal the creature standing over the epicenter of an enormous crater…
As the platforms raised, the flying gasbags from before began to take interest. Several circled over head before one made a dive for Aria. A red blur dove by and it tumbled into the water with no wings. "I've been trying to keep these guys out of it, but it looks like you managed to catch their attention! Good job guys!" Huntsman mocked from above. "I'm going to lead as many of them away as I can, but on my pass back, I need to pick somebody up! There's something I need you to look at!" A spray of blood from Huntsman's back drew the attention of the monsters and they followed as he spiraled up and away. Only a few remained, divebombing those on the platforms from above while the roots crawled up from below.
Eve swore and fired her row of chest guns into the things above, dropping a few. "Huntsman, get back here! You can explain your little discovery while you're clearing them out! Huntsman!" It was too late. Huntsman could flee exceptionally fast when evading orders. She clambered up and away from the roots, which had done disastrous damage to the monsters' numbers. They were nearly cleared out entirely, the few stragglers quickly falling without numbers to back them up. They were no longer the problem. "We need off this lake! These roots will just keep climbing!" She yelled up to Aria, backing further away from the aggressively growing roots.

Noticing that the structures that looked like plants were still rising, Cadence decides that continuing to make this cave was useless. Creating a few more platforms just outside the entrance, Cadence glances at Matt as he spoke to her. "...They're not mine..." She plainly states, stepping onto one of her platforms and causing it to rise along with the ones Aria was controlling. While Aria focused on getting the team away from the rising plants, Cadence decided to stall the onslaught as long as possible. Focusing on the roots at the bottom of the lake, Cadence attempts to use her own plants to pull the base of the evil ones back and toward the lake, slowing their ascent.
Haruko, meanwhile, decided to take out a few of her explosive knives out of her coat and throw them down at the approaching plants in an attempt to blow chunks of them off of the stalks and slow them down. Aria continued to shoot down flame bullets down at the plants, quickly looking down to address Eve. "I'm working as fast as I can! Haruko, when he flies back, jump on and see what he wants!" Aria orders her sister, who nods in affirmation. Haruko was the lightest one of the group, and wasn't one of the two people controlling the platforms. Eve was likely too heavy with her endoskeleton, and Matt could already fly. Just what was he talking about, though?

"Alright." Matt ran to the platform's edge and jumped off. In mid air, the shining knight turned into the fiery bird and flapped its wings. Two flaming balls hurtled towards the white roots, steering clear of Cadance's roots if at all possible. Just to make sure it worked, Matt launched himself upwards with a mighty stroke of his wings. He kept the wings furled under him while his already fire-engulfed feathers started bruning even brighter. When he came to a stop and unfurled his wings, a wave of fire crashed down towards the corrupted plants. Confident in his work, he turned into the frightfully thin blue bug that he was when him and Huntsman met up with the ladies. He flew down to the platform.
"I don't know what he wants to show us, but I can pick someone up and go after him if you want."

The tunnel zigzagged in a confusing and seemingly endless spiral in which the Ace of Pentacles skillfully flew through, carrying a terrified Arlana and a fierce Sun on top. The bestial brawl between the shape shifted Chase and the Avatar of the Primal Roar had painted the tunnel with craters and more holes than a Swiss cheese. And Chase’s corrupted vines was more than the earth could handle. It wasn’t long enough until Arlana found herself riding the Pentacle through falling pieces of rock and devilish roots, sliding in every crack big enough to get into.
Everything was going fine, until one of the falling rocks finally clogged one of the Pentacle’s side and send the disk ricocheting like a golden pinball. “Holy mother of god, I’m gonna puke!” Arlana squealed, her face as white as the knuckles that desperately held the edge of the Pentacle. “Keep it together, woman!” Sun screamed over the roar of the collapsing tunnel, turning every vine he went through into ashes.
Somewhere in that spinning hell, the Pentacle went to low and scrapped the tunnel’s flower, shooting literal rain of pebbles and rocks over Arlana’s head. And something too big and warm to be a rock. When the Pentacle recovered its balance and the dust cleared, a surprised Arlana found herself at the side of a new and unbelievable hurt passenger. “How the FUCK did she get here?!” Arlana exclaimed, incredulously staring at Marceline. “You have better things to worry about, moron! Look out!” Sun replied as the Pentacle made a violent turn and busted right through a side tunnel. The group went through the new “doors” Chase had made in a flash and were shot towards the basin… and towards the fight. “Lana! Jump! Now!” Sun yelled. And she did.
The tarot seeker grabbed Marceline and jumped at the last possible second, right as the Pentacle slammed against Chase’s monstrous head and, ringing like a giant bell, exploded into a million golden fragments.
Wrapping her arms around the wounded Doll, Arlana landed violently on the crater and rolled away, hitting almost every bump in the way, until she finally stopped against one of the few rocks that survived Chase’s strength. Sun flew at her side and glided protectively around her head, as the girl let out a painful grunt and let Marceline gently on the ground. Her wild entrance had taken a toll on her, scratching and bruising parts of her body she didn’t even know she had, and the ground had beaten her more than a group of street punks with clubs. It wasn’t until she raised her eyes from Marceline and saw Chase that she didn’t notice how bad her idea was. His demonic figure stood on the center of the crater, holding Dan’s head on its sharp claws like as if it was just a doll, and his glowing eyes belonged to the darkest of her nightmares.
But what shook the girl to her very core was his aura. The oppressive and obscure presence of the Devil was infinitely times worse with both Dan and Chase’s wild room. The long, sharp and cold claws of fear grasped her stomach and covered her in cold sweat as she stared at what seemed like her inevitable doom. “Lana, are you ok?” Sun asked and was met with silence, only broken by the terrified crackling of Arlana’s teeth. “God dammit! Move, idiot!”

Smith continues to travel towards the entrance of the pit thanks to the plant platform, while also continuing to unleashes a barrage of lasers into the grayish plants below. However his efforts still proof to accomplish very little to stop the progress of the roots. Yet thankfully the fire from Matt's bird form were successful able to destroy a good portion of the dangerous plants. However, the plants soon regain their lost numbers, especially in part to the other plants attacking the corrupt roots, since they would simply become corrupted themselves. Which means that Cadence's roots where only adding more plants for them to deal with. Upon seeing even more roots emerging from the ground at a faster rate then before, Smith soon figures out how counterproductive the plant manipulator efforts were. "Don't attack the roots with more roots!" he shouted at Cadence and Aria. Not sure which one of them was adding more roots for the group to deal with.
He turns his attention to the rocking walls and begins to calculate the necessary locations he would need to destroy in order to collapse certain sections of the walls unto the incoming roots. Once he determine the proper weaknesses in the structure, he fires dozens of lasers bullets into the walls. As they penetrate the wall, the laser begins to maneuver in unison to carve out large boulders that quickly fall onto the plants. Even though this tactic slowed down the dangerous roots a lot better than firing his laser bullets at the directly at them, Smith knew that his efforts weren't going to give the team enough time to evacuate. The world begins to slow down from his perspective as his brain shifts into high gear as he attempts to figure out a solution.

The monster’s arms return to their previous size while it attempts to study the damage it caused, yet its burning greenish eyes could not see beyond the thick layer of dusty smoke still clinging to the ground. It was a few seconds before he was joined by Dan rising from the dust. Dan started laughing and he didn’t stop as he lunged for Chase, grabbed him by the horn, and spiked his face into the stone below. As the chaotic creature pulls his head out of the rock it prepares to grab Dan between his massive claw like hands and snap him in half. However, before it could get a chance to apply any force, a metal object suddenly slams into his head, causing the creature to pause for a moment. Not out of pain, but merely out of confusion by the surprise blow. The monster continues to hold Dan as it quickly jerks its head around in a complete 180, similar to that of a bird. Upon seeing Arlana the demonic Chase unleashes another violent roar that shakes the ground and walls. With his mouth still open, a greenish ball of energy gradually begins to form as the creature prepares to obliterate her with an energy blast. Arlana couldn’t sense energy, but she didn’t need it to know how much power that emerald ball possessed. “RUN, LANA! RUN!” Sun screamed. The girl’s petrified legs jumped to action. She brought Marceline to her feet and dragged her up the crater, as those two monsters struggled behind her. Fear seared her throat like molten magma, making every breath she gasped for was a fight on itself. Dan glanced to the side, swearing internally when he saw Arlana. What the hell was she doing back here? When Chase turned his head, he knew there would be trouble. As if there wasn’t enough. He saw green light spilling between Chase’s shark like teeth and reached out for his horns, using the natural levers to twist his head away from the young card magician. “I am your opponent! Not her!” Feeling its head being push by Dan, the creature returns its gaze and mouth towards the Avatar just as it prepares to fire. The energy ball has already develop to the size of a basketball at this point along with creating a terrible humming noise that vibrates throughout the crater they stood in. As the humming increases in octaves Chase slowly pulls his target to his mouth so that Dan’s face is only a few inches away touching the surface of the energy ball that is ready to explode at any moment. Dan just grinned and set his feet. “It won’t be that easy!” Up came his elbow for Chase’s chin like a launching rocket, smashing Chase’s face upwards just in time as the soulless creature fires its energy blast towards the ceiling. Upon contact hundreds of tons of stone are ripped apart and smash into gigantic fragments, which begin to drop down on the group below. The massive crater they reside in soon begins to be filled up by the falling debris, however; the immediate area around Dan and Chase doesn’t receive any of the raining rocks due to the energy blast continuing to destroy any stone above their heads. Arlana was scared. More scared than she had been in all her life. So scared she thought she was going to lose her mind. This wasn’t a merry adventure into a magic school to get a card. This wasn’t a brawl with some monsters in a dinner. No, behind her there were actual unbeatable monsters. “COME ON! MOVE, MOVE!” Sun kept screaming, pushing the fragment of his power to its limit just to pulverize some of the smaller rocks that plummeted from the ceiling. Pushed by fear, Arlana dashed up the side of the immense crater. Chase’s monstrous strength had pushed the rocky floor away and upwards, forming a sharp lip at the edge of the crater and to there the girl’s desperate sprint was headed. With what felt like super human effort, Arlana shoved Marceline over the crater’s edge and then she followed, tumbling down the other side with the doll in a mess of legs and arms. She couldn’t have done escaped in a better time... Dan felt the ground shake as Chase fired off his seemingly unending stream of energy. The amount of power this creature carried! Where was this before!? He launched a storm of blows into its stomach to free himself and backed up. Would it expend itself with this attack? Could it stop? He honestly didn’t know. The energy blast gradually begins to decreases in size as the beast closes its mouth. Only once its mouth closes completely does the energy wave cease. The monster once more returns its hellish green eyes on Dan as the creature spread out its arms and legs in a wide stance. The rocks all around them begin to stir, then suddenly a greenish glow begins to overwhelm the crater as cracks appear throughout the gigantic hole. Soon enough the green light emitting eventually reveal their true form as the temperature starts to climb to an unbearable heat. A wall of greenish flames emerge from the ground to surround the chaotic beast and the Avatar. All the rocks that are inside the crater are turn into ash as well as any boulders being pulled by gravity towards the green inferno. As for Arlana and Sun, they were lucky to have escape from the crater when they did. The greenish flames are no ordinary flames and they would have been extremely dangerous for them even with Sun’s abilities. Yet Dan will not be so fortunate if he touches the greenish flames. Comparing the threat of every other fire based attack he has received up to this point to the flames surrounding them currently would be like comparing a match to a house fire. The monster slowly approaches its opponent. Surprising enough, it would appear if Chase is trying to determine the best method of attack. Rather strange for a beast of unrelenting rage. However, it is simple due to the greenish flames. Even with the beast’s high resistance to his own power, it is still cautious of the flames due to the extreme nature of the flames being capable of even hurting even the monster at its current level. The chaotic creature eventually pounces at Dan as it swings both of its massive and deadly X formation with its razor sharp bone like claws. Dan’s blood sprayed the floor of the crater, trickling in drops towards the basin. He stumbled back and dodged another swipe. This beast seemed never to falter, but Dan did. He was sore already from their previous battle. This fight had gone from a challenge to unwinnable. He rolled away from a strike that laid a trail of destruction all the way to the edge of the crater and glanced around for an escape, finding her on the lip of the crater. “The one you came for… she lives!” He pointed past Chase to Marceline’s body. “I didn’t kill her you dolt!” The beast at first appears to have ignore his prey’s words as he continues to charge forward, however its speed slows down as Dan’s words begin to echo in the mind of the creature. Soon enough the creature freezes as Chase starts to wake up from his hypnotic trance. Worried that the soulless man is regaining consciousness, the demon of the mark begins to redirect its focus from killing Dan to preventing his host from regaining control. Leaving the beast wide open as he becomes a statue. The greenish flames begin to shrink around them. Meanwhile the greyish roots inside the tunnels also halt their movements as well. “Come on, Lana. We have to get in there, that fucker is that way” Sun ordered, as Arlana untangled herself from Marceline and fell to her knees. “Lana?” The girl was shaking, her head hidden between her trembling hands and her eyes staring blankly at the ground. She didn’t even seem to notice the pain of the uncountable bruises she that wild sprint had left her. She was muttering and her voice escaped in a mere thread out of her clenched teeth. “I can’t do this, I can’t do this…” she repeated over and over, like a feverish chant. Sun stared surprisedly at his desperate friend, unable to believe what he was watching. What the hell was happening to that girl? Right as he finished wondering that, the answer popped into his head. He opened his beak, but neither words or sound came out no matter how hard he tried. What actually came out was a grunt of irritation as the bird started to look for another way to solve the ´fucking dilemma´he was facing.
Outside, the roots ceased to climb, slowing to a stop. The platforms no longer needed to climb, nowhere near the peaks of the cliffs. Eve looked down at the mess beneath them. "Somebody keep an eye on those roots. I don't want then sneaking up on us." She jumped over to Aria's platform and leaned on a jutting higher platform. "So Aria, you want to get us down? These platforms did their job. Now they're just precarious." She folded her arms, glancing down again for the pond far below.

Both Cadence and Aria heard Smith's suggestion right after they noticed how their plants were becoming evil as well, directing their plants away from the demonic vines and eliminating any of the remaining creatures that were coming out of the lake. Aria stared down at the battlefield that was the lake, now covered in demonic vines and the carcasses of dead creatures. Slowly, she began to descend the platforms everyone was on. "Huntsman said he wanted one of us to look at something. You should call him and see exactly what that was." Aria suggested to Eve, knowing they were from the same organization.
Cadence, meanwhile, stayed nearly silent as the group descended back toward the lake. Truth be told; she didn't care about anything that was going on at the moment. There was only one thing keeping her from leaving...and it was the blond lady who could also control plants. She had made a deal with Cadence, that if she helped out on this mission...Aria would work with her in order to grant the plant doll freedom from Marika. It was only to get that valuable phone number that Cadence helped lower the platforms into the lake, not caring about anyone here but the one who would provide her reward.

As he prepares to finish his plan, the roots suddenly stop moving. For a moment he remains quite and still. As the plants take them back down, his eyes continue to focus on the roots. As they touch the floor, he gradually walks closer to the dangerous plant, and reaches into his pocket to pull a few objects in order to extract a sample of the grayish roots for research later. As he collects his sample, he makes sure to have one hand free to be able to defend himself if the plants begin to move again, or more creatures from before show up. Yet no new threats emerge as he successful secures a sample. Once he finishes, he walks back to the rest of the group, he decides that introductions are in order. "Apologizes for not being able to introduce myself before. My name is Marvel Smith, preferably you can refer to be as either Marvel or Smith, though most like to call me Smith," as he finished sharing his name, he continues to walk ahead as he tosses up another orb like device to create a hologram map of their current area.

Matt's offer was coldly and cruelly ignored, without even any acknowledgement. But no matter. A gentleman has patience. "Again, I think following him would be faster then calling him all the way back over here."

Dan looked at his distracted foe. His guard was down. Now would be the time if Dan wished to see if he could die. Dan raised an arm and focused on the back of his neck. No. He dropped his hand and shook his head. “Another day, beast.” He turned and bolted. The joys of battle were all well and good, but he needed to be alive to enjoy them. As the Avatar is preparing to leap out of the crater, the firewall quickly fades around them. Leaving only the monster behind in his shadow.
Without moving a single muscle, the creature’s eyes continue to follow Dan. For a moment the whole world slows down from his perspective as his fleeing opponent appears to be moving slower than molasses. Within this narrow time frame a consciousness that has been forced asleep has been awoken by the words of the naked warrior. The scene fades for an instance into pitch darkness before a flickering figure of a softly glowering man emerges from this newly created world without light. He possess no real characteristics outside his human like anatomy and shining, transparent blue aura. There is no clear way one could have figured out the identity of this individual by shape and size alone. However for those who examine close enough, they will find the answer inside this mass of illumination.
Between the thin membrane that holds this person together is a sequence of events trapped in tiny bubbles, that project the life of this person without any clear pattern of chronological order, either by studying a particular cluster of bubbles, or within each individual bubble. Some would even puzzle an observer by portraying the laws of causality in the reverse, as they can witness the effect before rewinding the event in order for the spectator to watch the cause. These bubbles also depict a wide scope of human history. An expert historian may be able to determine the eras of these pictures to depict incidents that have occurred as early as the American Revolution. Yet, even the expect would have been stupefy by the sheer amount of information contain within these recorded affairs that would have reshape their common knowledge and previous pre-notations about crucial turning points in the development of human societies around the world. But, near the center chest, where the heart normally lies, the bubbles contain no light, nor share any secrets of the past or present. Still the space isn’t completely absent as there exists a irresistible and spellbinding feeling. Hunger.
Within the seemly infinite appetite, there exists another distinctive desire. One that could not be noticed by its owner. The clueless man, who contains such an immense aspiration to discover the truth, fails to understand his own self. The desire he secretly seeks is known by the demon inside, whom does everything it can do to conceal the fact from the empty man. Yet for now, the chaotic servant does not engage in an act of secrecy as it approaches the figure of light with its own body of hellish green shadows.
“~Don’t be fooled by his words~” the world repeats over and over to him as the demon begins its speak, “Why stop? You almost had your revenge….” The word resonates with his core, but he had no idea why. “Revenge…” the shape uttered in confusion as it tries to comprehend the meaning of the word that had such a powerful force on his existence. “Yes. Remember,” the demon commanded as he waves its massive arms, causing the world to shift all around them until a replica of Marceline and Dan’s exchanging blows are created “Mar..celine,” whispered the man as he recalls the doll. The two of them go back and forth for a little bit, but it is clear that the Avatar had the upper hand during the entirely of their duel. As he watches, the figure’s bluish color begins to change to match the demon’s dark green. Only a few more strikes are dealt before the battle comes to the conclusion…
Sun opened and closed his mouth a couple of times, in a futile and frustrating attempt to mutter some words that just refused to come out. Arlana kneeled in the rocky soil in front of him, her hands desperately grasping her head as her despair pulled her further down into a breakdown. “I can’t do this… I can’t do this… I don’t want to be alone…” she whispered, her voice broken by fear and pain. “Dad…. I’m sorry…” she sobbed. And Sun, incapable of talking and getting increasingly more frustrated, did what he did best. “SNAP OUT OF IT, YOU FUCKING FATASS!” He yelled and bashed his head into Arlana’s.
Both of them screamed in pain and their heads shot backwards “That huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurt!” they groaned at the same time. Arlana took a hand to her forehead and furiously rubbed the bright red and semi burned bump Sun had left and the bird violently shook his head trying to chase off that annoying pain . “Who are you calling a fucking fatass, you birdbrained jerk?!” the girl exploded but then she stopped on her tracks, blinking surprised as if she was seeing for the first time. “What the hell happened? I felt...” she asked, confused. The oppressive and overwhelming curtain that had fallen in her mind had been lifted by Sun’s… harsh method and she felt somewhat like herself again.
The flaming sparrow opened his mouth to answer but only a irked snort came out. “Fuck my feathers” he muttered. “Nothing” he finally said, biting the words “you just spaced out”. “But…” she asked. Thankfully for Sun, the tense silence that had enveloped the crater was broken when the fight continued and picked up Arlana’s attention.
Before Dan could successful leave the crater, the monster suddenly shots forward and seize the Avatar’s body in mid jump. Without a moment of hesitation, the creature quickly throws his prey into the ground with enough force to cause the room to shake and the ground to crack apart. A second later the demonic beast stomps him on its way down, deepening the crater with its sheer force. Dan felt stone crack beneath him and ribs crack inside him. He didn’t like either noise. Still moving with no signs of stopping, the monster roars right in front of Dan’s face before arching its back and create another hellish green energy ball. This time the gathering energy isn’t centering around his mouth, instead the monster lifts its arms above its head as it adds more chaos energy to an already massive orb between the wide gap of its hands. While the chaotic entity continues to shout with its supernatural lungs, the ball continues to increase in size until the sphere becomes even larger than the monster creating it.
“Are you really gonna waste your time asking questions when we’re in the middle of a fight between those two fuck faces?!” Sun exclaimed, but it wasn’t really necessary. Just hearing Chase’s growling again was enough to make Arlana remember the place where she was standing. “We have to get in there, you know that” Sun said. It wasn’t a question, the bird was merely stating a fact.
Those words fell like a heavy and cold weight on Arlana’s stomach, making her knees tremble just with the thought of going down the edge of the crater to face those two unhuman creatures. She gulped, feeling her tongue heavy between her crackling teeth. Her blue eyes doubtfully shifted towards the tunnel behind them, towards the surface… and towards the exit of that nightmare.“Sun… I…” she started, but when she looked back at the crater, she met with the golden eyes of a bird of prey. “How long are you going to keep running away, Lana?” the bird said. Arlana wanted to answer, tell him that this was too much for her. That she couldn’t do it alone. That she was scared. But she couldn’t. Something shone deep in Sun’s eyes and voice, behind his fierce and rude exterior. Something Arlana couldn’t decipher, as she had never seen in it in Sun. Something she would understand if she had been awake in the dinner’s roof. “We have to do it, Lana” he added. Arlana breathed in deeply and slowly, her eyes shifted from Sun to the sickening greenish flames. The air on her lungs escaped as fast as as it had entered in a low sigh, trying to calm her shaking hand as it reached inside her pocket and grasped the long and ancient card.
Dan struggled under the beast’s foot, regardless of grinding bone and torn flesh. His pains were nothing compared to what that blast would do to him. He hurled his own energy balls at Chase’s chest, tearing little chunks off his body that instantly healed. A blast from his mouth blew a hole right through Chase’s chest, but it did nothing to deter him. “Chase… you fucking idiot.” A ruined figure attempted to climb down the edge of the crater but ended up slipping and rolling. “You’re going to vaporize me too.” Marceline grumbled weakly from the ground.
“Are you ready?” just hearing that sentence made Arlana snort “Of course i’m ready to summon an ancient power to fight a fucking gorilla and his monkey ass opponent in a cave in the middle of nowhere, it’s just another monday for me!” despite her attempt to sound sarcastic, her voice was cracked by fear a few times. “Oh, did i mention that the last time i tried i blew a dinner from the face of the earth and burned my arms?” she added, nervously wiping the sweat out of her palm. Sun’s card felt as if it was burning her anxious hands. “You’ll be fine… I believe in you” Sun muttered, which only made Arlana snort again. “Yeah, right” she chuckled, watching her feet. “No” Sun replied, his tone softened just a bit, enough for Arlana to notice how big the difference a actually was “I really do”. The girl turned surprised at her bird friend, but she only saw his flaming back as he flew away. A tiny smile grew on Arlana’s lips as she looked at the Card, her hands now firmly holding it.
Sun soared a few meters away and waited for Arlana, as she tried to focus. “Come on, Lana, you can do this” the girl whispered for herself, not knowing that Sun was muttering the exact same thing, and closed her eyes. Slowly, her other senses followed. The chirping roar of the green flames and the sounds of the battle faded into mere murmurs, the smell of the rocks and dirt that had followed since she entered the tunnels escaped her nose, the taste of her own blood on her mouth disappeared and her bruised and wounded body turned comfortably numb. Even the dark, oppressive presence lifted it’s claws off her heart and the young tarot seeker enveloped herself in a quiet nothingness. And there, she called for her power. And it answered.
She felt it in her chest, right next to her heart. A small and pulsating light shone inside her with the soft and resonating ring of a bell, brightening the darkness for a heartbeat, a mere candle in the obscure waters of the deepest ocean. With every beat, the light inside of her became a bit more brighter and it’s calling more powerful, more urgent. It was a soft and gentle beg that slowly grew into a loud call and at the end, an imperious order that pierced through the darkness. A moment of silence passed and then a blinding ray of golden light boomed like a lightning bolt, it's thunder left Arlana’s soul shaking as the quiet emptiness settled down once more.
The potent and triumphant screech of a bird of prey resounded from the unreachable horizon of that strange place and the gentle sound of the flap of wings preceded a small glimmer that surrounded the golden sparrow. The bird glided indolently towards her, his flaming wings chasing the infinite darkness away as if it were nothing but an inconvenient mist. The gentle sound of his feathers against each other grew louder with each flap and it wasn’t long until Arlana noticed that what she took for a tiny sparrow wasn’t small… at all. The massive creature opened its beak and the screech broke the silence once more as it grew closer to Arlana, leaving a flaming trail of bright light behind him, which spread until it covered the horizon.
The proud bird flew towards Arlana hastily, answering her call. The beast stopped in front of her, the sheer force of his presence emanated waves of power that made the girl’s very foundations tremble. And in all his glory, the ancient and bright Sun raised his wings, lowered his head and bowed to Arlana.
With the sound of immense bell, the Card exploded with energy and the entire cave was filled with rays warm golden light, escaping through the tunnels and cracks. Arlana felt the magic. Her magic. It ran through her like an overflowing river. Flowing all the way through her body, her arms, her legs and her chest. She could feel it like an electric current going through her fingers and toes and through every hair on her body. She closed her eyes and the air around turned into an incandescent sphere, alive by her power. A thread of light escaped the brilliant golden silhouette of the card and surrounded her and worked it’s way to the ground, carving an intricate magical symbol in the rocks at her feet as the words flowed like a crescent torrent through her mouth.
Dawn after the blackest night… source of my life. Strength of radiance, grant me your eternal flame to light the path before me and destroy the shadows that darkens it. I call upon you, my protector. My star! THE SUN!”
Sun flew inside the card, creating ripples like a stone thrown into a pond. That was the moment of truth, the point where everything had gone wrong the last time. Overwhelmed by her own power, Arlana stared nervously at the card, waiting for something to happen. She blinked and suddenly found herself back at the dinner, covered in the monster’s blood, and she was flooded with the same disturbing and paralyzing fear. And she fought with all her strength to keep it at bay. If the Card exploded again there, how many people could get hurt?!
“Lana!” Sun’s voice echoed inside her mind, choked by pain. “It’s not working!” the body of light twisted and bent, in vain attempt to release the magical energy. “I don’t know what to do!” she replied desperately. The cold fear hit her heart again, threatening to destroy everything she had worked for. As she had done before, the young girl tried to hide that piercing pain behind her desire to protect the lives around her. And slowly, she calmed her mind. But that only made the Card worse.
“AAARRGH!” Sun’s groan of pain bursted in her mind “Lana! Don’t run from it!” her friend begged. “But…” Arlana tried to reply “How long are you going to keep hiding it behind others?! You aren’t doing this for them, you aren’t here to protect no one! For once in your life, think on yourself!” He urged “How long are you going to keep running away from it?! You have to face it here and now, Lana!” Holding back tears of frustration, Arlana tried to break down that wall around her heart and found herself back in the dinner. She blinked once again and she saw the familiar and nostalgic walls that had saw her grow engulfed in flames. Her mind flinched, incapable of going down the path to that place again.
“I can’t! I can’t do it alone!” she cried, painful tears burning down her cheeks. “Lana!” Sun’s voice grew more desperate, trapped inside the unstable card “I told you that we have to share our pain and sorrows, to let each other in our hearts! For that you have to be strong! You won’t be alone!” Being teared apart by the magic, Sun managed to scream his last words before yelling in pain “I’ll always be here with you!”
Against the barrier she had built herself since more than two years ago, Arlana let the suffering in her heart break loose. Drowning in her own tears, she ran down the burning hallway of her childhood home and kneeled besides the bloodied and lifeless body of his father, his face turned into a horrible grimace of pain. “I’m sorry...” the words escaped her throat in a agonizing whisper, a whisper tainted by the pain she had been hiding for too long “I wasn’t strong enough to save you, I wasn’t strong enough to help you” her hand closed over her father’s “If I had understood your pain, I could have stopped you before you… before you…” her voice cracked “I miss you so much… Dad.”
“I’m sorry, Dad… and that’s why I have to let this go” she mumbled, indecisive as her mind started to understand “I won’t follow the same path as you” with each word, her voice became stronger, more resolved, her face still covered in tears “ I won’t let myself get lost in this pain, i won’t allow it to stop me! I’ll bring you back! I’m going to fix everything! But I will do it on my terms! I’ll do it as me! As Arlana!” Her words shook the entire building and stopped the flames, as a faint golden glimmer poured down the windows. As the light become more powerful and blinded, Arlana thought she felt her father’s hand closing over her’s and the faint trace of a smile on his now calm face, before the scene disappeared.
She was back in that empty and quiet space, but the darkness had been replaced by a the Sun’s proud golden light. Sun stood there, the regular small Sun. Even if he was just a pile of flames in the form a sparrow, Arlana knew him enough to notice how relieved he was “Is something wrong?” She asked. A soft chuckle crossed his body as he shooked his head “Nah, it’s nothing” his voice was unbeleivable soft and calm and for Arlana’s surprise, his flames had a blushing pink glow “It’s just that… all this time I wondered if deep down, you hated me for… what happened there” He turned his head around and broke eye contact with the girl “I.. I’m glad it’s not like that”
It was Arlana’s time to chuckle. Her hands closed around the bird’s head and she softly placed her forehead on his, her blue eyes meeting his golden ones. In just that mere moment, the love those two professed at each other after two long years together didn’t need to be expressed by words. “Of course I don’t hate you, you idiot” Arlana chuckled softly“You are my best friend”
They stood there for a moment, with their eyes closed and the familiar sensation of their foreheads pressed against each other. But when Arlana opened her eyes, she wasn’t staring at a small sparrow anymore. The enormous and powerful phoenix stared back at her, but she knew it was Sun. She would always recognize him.
“Now” her eyes reflected the flames of his’. Their voices, hers high pitched and his deep like a giant drum, joined in a fierce battle roar “LET’S GO KICK SOME FUCKING ASS!”
---
The Card bent, twisted and stretched until it seemed as if it was about to explode again. But then, like a breaking dam, the barrier that hold Sun back disappeared. Golden fire roared out of the Card and shattered the ground where Arlana stood as the girl’s feet left the stone and floated upwards. The blinding, metallic flames climbed through the cavern’s ceiling and formed the body of an enormous phoenix. It’s massive wings spread almost half way across the cave and it’s flaming golden eyes stared proudly at the scene beneath it. As Arlana hovered in front, her eyes closed and arms spread wide, the phoenix eyes shifted towards Chase’s green flames. A hint of disgust crossed it’s narrow irises and the mythical beast let out a challenging and triumphant screech that made the earth tremble. Arlana closed slowly closed her arms in front of her and her friend followed. With a flap of his fiery wings, the Sun sent a wave of gust that dissipated the sickening thing that dared to compare itself to his fire.
Another screech escaped Sun’s beak as he flew across the cave and then turned abruptly, pointing towards Arlana straight as an arrow. With frightening speed, the creature flapped it’s wings and bolted through the air, creating a powerful shockwave behind him. The huge body pierced through the tarot seeker and exploded in a sea of flames, enveloping her in golden fire.
Streams of golden light wrapped themselves around Arlana’s body, threading in and out of her like dolphins soaring over the waves and draw uncountable patterns of mystical ochre feathers over her pale skin, their inner carvings glowing with liquid gold, which seemed to shine with metallic ripples. Her long red hair flamed like a proud flag as hints of golden fire cruised through it. Arlana’s round and kind features sharpened in a ferocious grimace, a strange mix between their features. And then she opened her eyes, they were the eyes fierce eyes of a bird of prey.
Arlana felt her body give in to Sun’s warm flames as they purified her mind and body. She felt the dirt and blood that tainted her body turned to ashes in her new skin, her wounds itch and heal with her friend’s ardent warmness. Even her regular clothes were cleanse under the flames and were painted with the golden and reds of the Sun. She felt her mind shift and bend as they became one. “I did it…” she whispered. “No, Lana” Sun’s voice replied inside her head “We did it”. A fiercely and joyful smile brighten their features as they descended from the skies. She wasn’t Arlana anymore. He wasn’t Sun anymore. Their beings have entwined into something bigger, something better. They were two minds in one body.
Two minds in one soul.
Their feet touched the ground and the rock melted into magma beneath their feet, now turned into the sharp and cruel talons of a hawk. Slowly, the being that wasn’t Arlana nor Sun walked to the edge of the crater, burning the path they left behind them. Small bursts of fire moved across her skin, swirling solar flares that jumped through the feather pattern. “What do you think?” Sun asked mentally “You think we got their attention yet?”. Arlana couldn’t contain a chuckle at Sun’s attitude “Don’t know, let’s make sure we do”. The bird's potent and brave persona was contagious once it was side by side of her mind, and she gladly let herself be pulled into it. Sun’s ferocious smile was painted on their lips as they raised their hand, with the palm with wide open.
They didn’t even had to think about it. The feathers bristled and the magic swirled around them, concentrating inside their palm. A glowing ball of golden fire grew inside their hand and with an explosion, they shot it with uncanny precision at the greenish ball of energy Chase was about to drop on the Avatar of the Primal Roar, pushing that thing away from the monster’s hand. They jumped from the edge and glided down confidently towards the fighters.
Arlana didn’t feel her knees tremble or her stomach heavy. She didn’t feel the oppressive presence of the Devil pushing her down. She didn’t feel the paralyzing fear of her hemophobia. She wasn’t afraid. After all, why would she?
This time, she wasn’t alone.
The green energy orb budges away from the position of the monster’s hands. Yet, before the ball could go too far, the monster uses its connection to its gathered energy and quickly calls back the energy back into its body. As the creature keeps its legs on Dan’s body to keep the Avatar there, its attention moves slowly away from the Avatar and to what it views as a new prey. The golden flame opponent didn’t appear to bother the chaotic being too much, yet it didn’t seem to be to eager to engage the combination of Arlana and Sun as quickly as it had attacked Dan. Yet it wasn’t out of any form of concern. Rather the beast is still attempting to finish off its first prey. Seeing that Chase is distracted with the arrival of Alrana, Dan takes this opportunity to free him before the soulless man could proceed to continue its assault on him. With a single clap, a grand explosion suddenly blasts Chase into the far wall.
As the beast attempts to pull itself out of the wall, a wave of pink energy suddenly crashes into it. Burying the beast deep within the wall. As the energy fades, a massive hole in the wall could be seen that expands for hundreds of meters of pure darkness, and without any sign of Chase for a few seconds before a mighty roar soon erupts from the hole, which is quickly replaced by the screams of a hurt beast as Dan opened his mouth and fires off an even grander salmon blast into the hole as the entire room is overwhelmed by a blinding pink light. After the light dies down it is revealed that the entrance of the hole has tripled in size, thus transforming the appearance from a massive hole in the wall to a tunnel large enough for a passenger train to travel through. Dan, breathing heavily, turned to Arlana. “Now that was a fight!” He cheered. “Still not enough though… unfortunate.”
Arlana and Sun chuckled, a joyful and threatening sound that escaped their very soul. “Don’t worry, fuckface…” their voices echoed together, joined in one “This show is just starting” Golden fire swirled down Arlana’s arm and concentrated on her palm. With a roar and a quick burst, they sent out a violent flare of rock melting flames straight towards Dan’s face. All the pain, the suffering and the frustration that had filled Arlana since she stepped into that godforsaken tundra concentrated behind the attack… and maybe that made them get a little carried away.
The blast hit Dan full force and sent him flying in a violent spiral further down the tunnel, leaving a trail of molten rock behind him. Arlana and Sun roared triumphantly “God fucking dammit, that felt good!”
Eve rolled her eyes at Matt. "He's not where he's trying to go, he's shaking off those flyers. Following him would get us nowhere." She should call him though. "Hey, Huntsman. What were you talking about anyway? Yes, I know you're busy. I just want to know-" Something went hurtling below on a wave of golden flames, exploding from the cliffside with unbelievable force to smash through the platforms below. "Call you back." Eve sighed and hung up. "Looks like the main event is finally here. Feels like I've been at this a fucking year." Eve casually stepped off her platform and plummeted to the marsh below. She landed like a massive raindrop, kicking up a grand wave. Standing and looking around, she instantly fixed upon a trail.
A long track of earth was scraped like a boulder had been drug along it, but Eve didn't even need this obvious cue to follow. Dan walked back on this path, patting off little fires that still clung to his body. "Oh. Hey." He smiled and waved. Eve put a hand on her hip and found her lips twisted in an unexpected quizzical smirk. "You're a bit friendly for an evil overlord. Heart isn't in it? I guess that's why you're paying me to take you out." Dan chuckled. "Something like that. Now will you wait for everybody else-" With fire and thunder, Eve's cannon launched right for Dan's slashed up torso. Dan's eyes widened for an infinitesimal moment, imperceptible to Eve. Then the iron ball was swatted away like a simple fly, spinning into the swamp to splash out of sight. "Or are you going to throw your life away alone, I was going to finish." Dan massaged his injured hand, eyes locked right on her.

Cadence and Aria controlled the plants to descend the group back down to the lake, Aria leaping off a few feet above the ground and walking up to face Dan nearby where Eve was standing. Haruko followed soon after as she hopped off the platform and looked on with confusion at Dan. "He's paying you to attack him?" Aria asked, glancing over at Eve for a second before looking back at Dan. It was obvious that he was a massive threat in this current form, his deflection of Eve's cannonball cementing that assumption as fact for the HWIC president. As she assessed the situation, Haruko stepped forward and faced Dan. "Uh...Dan, is that you? Look, the monsters here are gone. Just come with us and we'll get this...form of your sorted out."
As Haruko tried to negotiate, Aria kept her hands at her sides...ready to pull out her pistols should Dan suddenly try to attack them like Eve had done to him. Cadence, meanwhile, merely watched the scene unfold from her chair suspended near the cliffside.

Matt flew down to join the rest of the team. So this man was the one responsible for... All of this? Finally seeing him, Matt had only one question. "Where are the women?" He came here to save them after all. And seeing the destruction surrounding him now made Matt fairly sure focusing on his objective was better then facing him head on.

A heavy and suffocating aura, full of malevolent intention, leaks into the room from the tunnel that Dan created. Rather than the usual hellish green, a new and much more sinister color begins to emit from the gigantic hole. The lighting of the room begins to dim down as unnatural shadows begins to expand to cover everything inside. Eventually the room becomes pitch black, with the only light source being Arlana’s flames and the blazing green eyes of the beast entering the room. At first the creature produces no sound. Not even footsteps as he approaches the two girls. From the perception of Arlana and Marceline, they might realize that there is something different about Chase. No longer did the monster standing before them appear mad in its rage. Rather, it appeared perplex as it continues to examine the room in all directions. Searching for the Avatar. Yet, due to the influence of the Demon God inside Dan, the creature could not detect the man’s soul. After a few seconds, the state of confusion quickly transforms into one of frustration as the massive beast begins to pound the ground with its fists over and over again. Causing the room to shake violently. In-between the strikes, the monster roars as it issues a challenge to the fleeting Avatar. Yet without any reply from his previous opponent, the blows gradually hits the ground with more and more force. Arlana and Sun were ecstatic, the power coursing through their veins was overwhelming and Sun, finally summoned, was aching for a fight. Their body was brimming with the irresistible urge to chase down the Avatar of the Primal Roar and rip the card of out him to put an end to that adventure that had pushed them both to their limits, forcing them to go forward. They were ready. They were focused on the Avatar, but Arlana couldn't ignore the violent trembling of the earth as that skulled monster punched the living crap out of the rocks around him. Marceline staggered as Chase’s blows shook the earth. “Yeah, yeah, I get it, you’re pissed off.” This idiot was going to collapse the whole tunnel system and that wouldn’t be good for anybody. “You should go and help the others. Leave him to me.” She limped right up to Chase and balled up her fist. She drew back and threw the hardest punch she could, leagues beyond her usual strength. “Knock it the fuck off, Chase!” As the blow lands, the figure’s torso concaves under the force of Marceline’s punch and creates a first shape hole in its chest. The creature stops its barrage due to the sheer force and surprise of the strike. Though the attack did not do much harm, it was more than enough to grab its attention away from its previous fixation on Dan. Due to his quick reflexes, the creature begins to swing its massive hand to ripped of Marceline’s head, yet before the sharp claws could so much as scratch her face, the creature’s arm comes to a sudden halt. After stopping its retaliation, the beast begins to examine the doll more closely as it tries to recall her. Despite Marceline words, Arlana couldn't just leave that guy alone with her. And it wasn't just because of how dangerous he was. “Hey Sun” She muttered, staring at the transformed Chase “Is it just me or that thing feels the same way as the other guy?”. Sun took a few seconds to answer as he examined the monster through their eyes. It didn't take a genius to know that Arlana was right. The oppressive and malevolent presence of the Devil surrounded Chase like a dark cloud. “You’re right” the answer came through their lips with only a hint more of Sun´s tone “What the fuck is going on?! Who should we go after?!” They didn't need to speak to each other to know that they had no clue. Their minds were fused as one and could feel what the other one was thinking. “Fuck!” they grunted as they looked towards the surface and the Chase. What should they do?! Marceline didn’t flinch as Chase’s claws came down at her. Her reflexes were way too shot for that. “Why are you still here!? Why does everybody gotta be told twice to run!?” She yelled at Arlana. She turned back to Chase with a look more annoyed than anything, or at least whatever vague imitation she could give with most of the skin burnt off her face. “Now Chase, I know you’re in there. And if not hurting me isn’t enough motivation, and apparently it isn’t sometimes, if you keep this up I’ll tell Smith to not pay for your booze. I’m sure he’ll listen to me given the circumstances.” As bold a face as she put on, she was still calculating her odds at running if this went south. She might be able to outrun him if she gouged his eyes out first, then broke his legs. She was brave, not stupid.
"Yeah, I thought it was weird too. But money is money." Eve shrugged, taking a few steps back so she was behind Aria. Dan just looked at Haruko. "How I wish that was an option. But this isn't something a little bit of medication and therapy will repair. I am still me, but it's a wrong me. I'm stunted. Empty. The hole needs to be filled. Emotion. I need to feel." Dan slid his right foot back to enter a fighting stance. "Make my blood boil." He spoke before vanishing in a cloud of dust. He was in front of Eve in the same moment. Her reloaded cannon slammed into his ribs, earning a spit of blood and a moment of relief as he stumbled back. "Argh! Ahahaha! Good! Like that!" He laughed and coughed, hunched over in pain. Eve swung her blade at his neck and found it striking air. He was up, holding her arm. His knee found her side a few times, crumpling her like hitting a coke can with a bat. While Eve collapsed to the ground, he was upon Haruko and Aria. His knee launched for Haruko's breastbone and he spun to grab for Aria in an attempt to throw her headlong at Matt.

Just what was going on here? Dan specifically paid for people to come and hunt him down? And he is talking about wanting his blood to boil? Was this some sort of game to him?! Aria couldn't shake the feeling that this was all some sick joke as she burst forward in a flash of light and knocked Haruko away from Dan's attack, dashing away from his grab and pointing her two pistols at him. "Is this all a game to you?! No matter...you will be taken into custody either way and be given a proper cell with other deranged people like you." And with that, Aria fired both of her pistols at him. Out of the right gun was a fireball the size of a truck that would surely give chemical burns if he tries to grab it. Out of the left gun came a yellow bolt of light that would act as a miniature flash grenade, hopefully blinding him long enough for the fireball to do sufficient damage to the beast man.
Haruko, meanwhile, looked on with confusion as Dan crushed Eve like a tin can and tried attacking her. It was clear she couldn't do anything to Dan in her current state. Clutching the tiny gem on her necklace, Haruko whispers to herself and erupts in a small beam of light. A few seconds later, she appears as a being much taller than before, with long pink hair that went down to her lower back. She now wore a sleeveless black shirt and long black skirt that went down to her ankles. A small upbeat musical rhythm could be heard as she adjusts her headset and looked at Dan.
"I'm not sure what your problem is Dan, but I will try to bring you out of this strange form you're in. Let's start the show!" Reaching her right hand up, a bright pink spotlight appears around Haruko's body as she skated across the ground like ice, sped up by the spotlight around her. She taps a few rocks around the area and tall neon pink spears rise out of them and point directly at Dan. She then sends all 5 of them at him, careful to aim them away from Dan's major arteries. She didn't want to kill or seriously hurt him...but Dan needed to be stopped. Meanwhile, Cadence sat away from the action...manipulating the plants underground. She was forming a trap that would surely restrain this crazy man should she need to use it.

Smith watches Dan closely as move towards Eve. His eyes perceive his movement as a blur. A cold sweat drips off the side of his forehead. While his eyes could barely follow his movements, his body is far to slow to be able to do anything in time to intercept the knees slamming into Eve's side. Yet, as he lifts his hands up, his pistols material out of thine in from a series of spiraling steams full of mysterious symbols in an endless equation. By the time Eve has dropped to the fall his weapons have fully manifested themselves. He watches Aria's actions carefully and determines that she will be able to deal with Dan. However, he knew that if Dan bother to attack him, the Avatar could finish him off with a single blow. Thinking about the probability of whatever or not his presence here will increase their odds of defeating him, or serve to be a handicap that the president will have to defend. Almost immediately he comes to the conclusion that he won't be much use in this fight. Regardless, he doesn't plan to do nothing. He fires a coulee of rounds of his laser shots.
The beams of lasers quickly move in a trajectory wrap around the general area around Dan's body as Smith attempts to create almost a small cage made up of energy beams around the Avatar. He figures that the man is too fast for him to attempt to hit with his laser's directly, but if he can force him to a confine space, he would be able to increase the probability of striking him with his energy rounds, as well as improving the likelihood that his comrades' landing as well.

Matt really did not want to end up in a fight with this man. Finding the women was all that mattered. But the fight was started whether he liked it or not. And to start it off by hurting a lady! A gentleman cannot accept something like that!
Matt flew up and electricity sparked between his hands then started gathering in front of him. Once it was a fairly large ball of electricity, it launched forward towards Dan. Now Matt started flying erratically. While Kabuto wasn't too speedy, it had a very lean frame and it had the advantage of vertical mobility. Unless Dan threw something real fast at him, hitting him would be difficult.

“Ugh! Fine, dammit!” Sun’s voice escaped through Arlana’s mouth as they glared through the molten hole that lead towards the surface, the one in which the Avatar had an involuntary a flaming trip towards the surface. Arlana’s essence, mixed with Sun’s volatile temper, couldn’t help but agree. The dual entity raised on of its golden and feathered fingers and accusingly pointed at Marceline. “Don’t you fucking dare to die!” Sun´s spat menacingly at the doll. “We saved your ass to many times today and I’ll fucking burn you to a crisp myself if you end up dying in here!” Their sharp and hawk like features softened a little, their shinning golden eyes tainted by a deep and kind blue, as Arlana surfaced for an instant. “Good luck” their whispered softly, before turning towards their target. “All right, Sun!” Arlana grunted, burning gasps of air escaping from their mouth “Are you ready for this?” A deep chuckle came resonated on their chest “Do you really have to ask, fatass?” he replied. “Who knows, maybe you were scared, dickhead” Arlana fired back and as they insulted each other, they cracked their knuckles and neck shivering with expectation at the fight upon them. The golden flames of the Sun cruised through their back and busted in a pair of bright wings, adorned with the same golden pattern on their skins. Their claws closed in burning fists, their talons sank through the rock behind them as if it was butter as they lowered their stance, pointing towards the surface straight as an arrow. “Let’s get that fucking card!” they roared. There was a burst of golden flams as the magic wings flapped and the entity was shot through the tunnel in an instant, leaving Marceline and the monster that Chase was behind them.
The tunnel of fast cooling stone had been smoothed by the heat of their fire and the molten rock released a soft glow which turned into a crimson blur as the winged Arlana and Sun flew through the flaming entrails of the earth and were barfed in a whirlwind of golden and red hot magma into the surface. They spread their wings with a burst of fire to reveal the alien scenery below them. “What the fuck is all this?” they grunted, amazed. The pair of sparkling hawk eyes scanned the land and were immediately drawn to the light show that was the center of the fight, filled with all sort of weird people. Their gaze jumped from person to person until they fixed with telescopic precision on the Avatar’s fast moving silhouette. “We don’t have much time left in this form!” Sun’s voice resounded inside them. “Yeah, I know” Arlana answered, hesitantly at first “So we’ll just have to go all out!” A cruel grin slowly crept up the corner of their mouths. “That’s what I like to hear!”
Their wings closed on their back and they went for a dive straight towards the ground below. At the last possible moment, the wings spread once again with a flaming explosion as they flew through the path Dan had made, almost scraping the ground and leaving nothing but scorched earth behind them. “You’re ours!” they roared as they blasted at Dan’s side, rising their claw to release a searing wave of flames like and uppercut to the Avatar’s body.

The creature didn’t pay any heed to the words of the doll, but rather remains fixated. The monster turns its head a few times as if it is searching for the best angle to study her face, especially her eye. For a while there isn’t a sound, and the room remains silent for a while. However, from time to time the roof above their head would crack and broken pieces would fall to the ground. One larger piece even falls right on the beast’s head, but the chunk of rock just shatters. Though it did not cause any harm, when the rock landed it seem to snap the creature out of its confusion. It quickly proceeds to wrap its claws around Marceline’s body, but before it could muster the strength necessary to crush her it stopped again. This time a new facial expression overwhelm the creature. Not one of confusion, but agony. The creature quickly releases the girl and staggers backwards as it begins to claw at its own body furiously.
Surrounded by shadows Chase, naked, afraid, and alone continues to move towards the only light source that he sees in the distant horizon. He didn’t know what happened, but suddenly the shadowy figure he has been dealing with disappeared. And he wasn’t going to waste this opportunity. Sometimes his path appears to become closer to him. At other times the journey appears to be getting longer and longer no matter how hard he runs. However, regardless of the changing distance his determination to escape from here did not waver. This world of darkness and strange voices. God did he hated the voices. The voices were never fully in union, and spoke at different intervals of each other. At different volumes. And from different places. Some voices sound as if they were whispering right next to his ear, while another voice is screaming at him from a faraway place. Makin it almost impossible to comprehend what they were trying to tell him. Yet from what he could gather, a few voices seem to be encouraging him to continue, while others make promises of pain and suffering awaiting him. But among all of these voices, the one that stood out the most is his own voice. Yet, he couldn’t move his lips or tongue. And he is far to scared to even think properly. No, this voice is coming from the outside. From this world. His voice appears to be talking to someone important with a tone of hope from behind, then suddenly his voice would be in front of him cursing the world. Though the voices are the same, they didn’t feel like they belong to the same person. He couldn’t relate to either voice.
“Where do you think you are going…” said the world. The other voices cease, leaving Chase truly alone to deal with the chaos. “Why are you trying to escape? You need me Chase… You need me. No one can help you. No one even cares about what you want. But I do. Even if you don’t believe me. I care. I care about your desire. So why are you trying to run away from the solution. You are weak. You must realize that by now. You can’t do it without me. Without US! You belong to us. Ignorant fool. I’m always with you. And you are always here. You just didn’t notice it until now. Yet how did you open your eyes? So annoying. But it doesn’t matter. I’ll put you back to sleep...”
A greenish blob begins to form around Chase’s body and starts to engulf him. As he moves forward, he begins to flail his arms in a desperate attempt to swat the greenish substance away. Yet, before long the strange material traps him. Now suspended in this jelly like state, the soulless man tries to break free but no matter how hard he tries, he couldn’t even move his body a single millimeter. Before long his eyes begin to feel heavier and heavier the longer he remains inside this glob. He no longer could has the strength left to struggle. And slowly he starts to close his eyes…
The monster stops tearing itself apart and glares back at Marceline with blazing hellish green eyes. It steps forward slowly as the creature’s frame increases in size. Soon enough, the beast has almost double its muscle mass as well as growing a couple of more feet. As the demon approaches it bares its shark like teeth at the doll and slowly crouches with the clear intention to pounce. Well hell. Marceline dove between the beast’s legs, scrambling out the other side and gaining some distance. “Chase, this is not you! You’re a dick, but you have self control! And I know you don’t want to hurt me!” The creature quickly shifts its body, and roars. It moves forward and attempts to slash at the doll, however something is off. This monster no longer appear to be moving as fast as it was before when it had faced off against the Avatar. Was it from bulking up, or was she getting to him? She didn’t know, but either way it seemed like a good reason to keep trying. She took a deep breath, then realized exactly what to say. “Chase! Creon will starve if you aren’t around to feed him!”
Chase’s eyes open. The blob’s substance begins to become unstable until it eventually liquefies around him until he collapses into a small pool of greenish slush. As he gets back to his feet, the world begins to shake and yells, “WHAT?! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE DOING?!” “SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY!!!” he replied back. “DUMBASS! DUMBASS! DUMBASS! DUMBASS! DUMBASS! Chase repeated over and over again to himself. As he just remembered that he had forgotten to leave food out for Creon this morning before leaving. Immediately he begins to sprint towards the light with newfound energy. The darkness tries to wrap itself around him, but before it could touch him an aura of blueish light shines around his body. Protecting him from the chaos attempting to corrupt him. Before long he reaches the light source.
As it turns out the light is coming from a tiny crack in a wall, which seem to be made out of obsidian. Chase tries to break the wall with a series of punches and kicks as he attempts to make an opening big enough for him to squeeze through. But everything he does ends up doing nothing to the wall. He soon places his hands against the wall and leans in as he tries to see what’s behind As he places his peers through the crack, he could see an image inside the light. As he looks closer the image appears to be the figure of a naked...girl, no... a short woman. She didn’t have much in terms of a womanly figure, but there is something about this shape captivates him as this figure feels so familiar and pleasant to look upon.
The monster freezes and falls down it its knees. No longer moving at all but remains still like a statue. Marceline crept closer, eyes on its legs, ready for even a twitch of movement. When she saw none, she went right up to his face. “Chase?” She stared into her glassy eyes with her single massive orb. What the hell was with him? Did this fix it? She put a hand on his face, feeling its alien surface. It reminded her of the bone she had handled at times working for Marika, but warm, alive. Even the flat surface she felt was sharp feeling, almost enough to cut her even as powerful as she was right now. She felt the damage her body had taken acutely. She couldn’t afford to dally. This had to work. “Sorry Chase, but you have to WAKE UP!” She drew back her fist. She felt every nerve she had left stand on end from the sharp movement. Every bone ground its broken ends, every bit of seared flesh leaked clear plasma. Good. She screamed in agony when she threw the punch.
The obsidian wall explodes and Chase is quickly overwhelm by a bright and blinding light. For a moment he is utterly disoriented, but soon enough he begins to feel the sensation of floating. He could no longer see anything. Hear anything. Touch anything. Yet he didn’t care as he is free. Free from what? He didn’t know. All he could do is smile as he continues to feel lighter and lighter. Only now does he realize how heavy he was before. With the unnatural weight that has been placed on him vanishing, he can finally begin to breath again. He takes a deep breath and releases that breath in a long and noiseless manner. And again. And again. And again. He doesn’t stop taking these wonderful breaths. However this only lasted for a few moments as it starts to become difficult to breath…
As Marceline’s punch slams against creature’s face, the entire skrull splits into thousands of tiny pieces. Before the pieces could touch the ground, they seem to evaporate into a tiny buffs of black and reddish smoke. The greenish energy that once emitted from the beast’s eyes dies out. Soon enough the creature’s expose jaw closes and mends with the rest of its disfigured face until the whole thing becomes a single round shape with none of the characteristics that could have been contributed to a face. The greyish roots emerging around its body soon dries up until they too become buffs of blackish smoke. The muscle and bone of the massive figure suddenly deflates as the whole body begins to collapse in on itself until the whole thing turns into a ball with a thin black membrane. Inside this thin membrane appears to be a shadow of a human being. A moment later and the sphere erupts.
Once the smoke clears up, Marceline could finally see Chase’s naked body and the state it is in. The soulless man is no longer muscular. In fact, he is so skinny that she could count all of his ribs without much issue as he has become nothing more than bones wrapped by skin, which has turn cool grey. His once thick blond hair has faded in color to dry black and lacks volume. So much so, that she could basically see the entirety of his scalp. Though his hollow eyes are open, his body couldn’t budge even in the slightest. His eyes scan the room slowly until they finally look in her direction. When he spot her, his mouth just slightly opens and closes repeatedly, but no sounds could escape off his tongue. The only noise he could produce is his gradual breathing, and even that is so quiet that he could easily be drown out by the footsteps of insects.
Marceline wobbled, vision tilting drastically. Her damaged body seemed to be near giving way. Honestly she was shocked it lasted this long. She fell to one knee, cracking the stone. Even as an emaciated mess, Chase looked like a mighty burden. She just wanted to curl up and surrender to her wounds. It wouldn’t take long now. She had stopped Chase from rampaging, wasn’t that enough? Couldn’t she rest now? She collapsed onto her front and stared at Chase’s face. But something kept her from slipping away. Something stronger than pain. Fear. Marika’s voice echoed in her head. Was she so weak as to die here? She knew she’d never amount to anything! Marceline’s hands dug into the crater surface and shoved her to her feet. She stumbled to Chase’s body and without another moment of hesitation scooped him up. Robotically, she marched, climbing the crater as best she could. Onwards and upwards she went, every step feeling like a step closer to death. She didn’t know how far she was when she could walk no more and collapsed, embracing Chase on the cold stone floor.
Dan was blinded by the beam as Aria intended, stopping him from seeing the massive attacks that surrounded him, and Smith's cage prevented him from stumbling away. First Arlana's flames swept over him, drawing out a howl before Aria's fireball swallowed him. Matt's electricity joined it and for a moment there was a whirling ball of fire and electricity into which Haruko's spears sank. The devastating combo sat for a mere moment more before it was blown away with a yell that had all the force of a hurricane. Pink energy exploded outwards in all directions, a force like a tidal wave carrying the burning chemicals of Aria's attack upon it. The cage of beams was annihilated. Eve, still reeling from the earlier blow, was smashed back into the lake.
Dan stood hunched in the epicenter, patches of skin missing all over his body. Three spears were caught in one hand, two lodged in his side. But even with the steam peeling off his flesh, his mouth was twisted in a horrific parody of a grin. "Exactly like that, Haruko! Perfect... but not enough!" He threw one of the spears back at her, faster than it came. Another hurtled for one of Aria's pistols, seeking to skewer it right out of her hand. "A physical cell is better than a mental one. Also better than a cave." He grumbled the last, throwing the last spear right at Aria's other gun. "But still... maybe it's best if you die before I care too much about it." Like a lightening bolt, he rushed upon her and threw a palm thrust that would liquefy an elephant right at her torso.

The explosion made Aria dive behind a nearby boulder to prevent the chemicals from splashing onto her body. Haruko managed to dodge by skating behind a nearby large tree nearby, listening for the attack to end before skating back out of cover and facing Dan once more. "Me? Why single me out of all those attacks?" Haruko asked in confusion. Her five spears hardly seemed comparable to Arias fireball, Matt's electricity or the strange new girl's flames. When Dan threw one of her spears back at herself, Haruko quickened her skating pace and held out her hand toward the spear. The weapon quickly disintegrated into nothingness within seconds, Haruko then turning her head to see one of her spears flying right at Aria and knocking one of her guns out of her hands. The HWIC president's eyes narrowed at this development as she watched the second spear disappear into nothingness, Haruko destroying all the spears finally since they were spawned from her magic. "Thank you! Smith, aim for vital points!" Aria commanded. It was evident that non-lethal attacks weren't going to be effective, so perhaps striking a few arteries would bring down this monster.
Once Dan began rushing at Aria, she quickly noted his change in speed and adjusted her reaction timing accordingly. She was one of the fastest fighters in the HWIC, so keeping up shouldn't be an issue. Once the Avatar got close, Aria quickly cast a spell that sent her directly behind Dan in a flash of light and letting his attack strike the nearby woods behind her. "Worry not, for your cell will be able to withstand both physical and mental attacks!" And with that, the HWIC president points her pistol directly at the back of Dan's head and fired a more concentrated bullet of fire, this time without the chemical burn module activated. She would then teleport 5 meters away from her starting position and grab her second pistol off the ground, ready for his next assault. Strange...there appeared to be a large root network under the battlefield now...was this the work of Cadence?
Cadence, meanwhile, didn't anticipate the explosion and the tiny doll was sent flying up the cliffside and landed on the cold snowy ground far above the fight. The stoic doll slowly stood back up and took in her surroundings, noting the smoke coming off the burning building nearby. "...hm...?" The doll wondered as she saw two figures laying next to each other in the snow. Cadence normally wouldn't care about two random dead bodies...but something about the female gave her a small amount of interest. Floating over on a newly-grown wooden chair, Cadence peers over at Marceline's body, specifically at a large gash in her right arm. The plant doll reached her hand into the wound and grabbed a little golden string inside, pulling it back slightly and letting it go like a guitar string.
"...doll..." Cadence said to herself. Was this one of the earlier dolls that Yuu had talked about before herself and the others were born? Shrugging her shoulders, Cadence notes their lack of attire and unzips her green coat, pulling it off and maneuvering Marceline's body into it. The plant doll then zips the green coat up and turns the dial on the inside right sleeve all the way up so the maximum amount of heat would be given in the coat. Cadence gave a small glance at Chase's lack of attire as well...only having Jane's light blue coat at this point for warmth. Shaking her head, Cadence grew a small pile of sticks near Chase's body and took out a match from her dress. After lighting her pipe and taking in a large cloud of smoke into her lungs, Cadence tossed the still-lit match into the stick pile and let it ignite. The plant doll then grew a few larger logs and placed them neatly on top so the fire would burn for a while. There was little chance of anything else catching fire, as the ground was covered in a thick layer of snow and crater had moved the trees far enough apart. "...I expect that back..." Cadence said to the unconscious Marceline as she rode off back toward the battle.

Smith pays close attention to Dan's movements to the best of his ability, but even with his enchanted perspective, he couldn't properly follow the actions of the Avatar as he retaliates against their combine assault. He begins to withdraw further back as he wishes to create distance between himself. As he back paddles away from Dan, he hears his Aria's orders. For a brief moment he considers recommending a different course of action. Aiming for the vital areas may proof to be too extreme if their goal is to simply stop the man, however, he quickly comes to understand his boss' true intentions. If they hold back now, they won't be able to prevail. "Understood." he said with an almost robotic attitude. He swings his arms around as he points both of his pistols at Dan, and waits patiently for the Avatar to assault the HWIC president. Once he engages with her, he will hopefully to be too distracted to notice the incoming lasers aiming for his spine.
